Sloth

OPENING Anything with a violet leaf opening is going to conjure up Fahrenheit (back in its delicious, original formulation), but there's no gasoline anywhere in sight here... this is very floral and herbal, and slightly sweet. Wet jungle and unisex. I found Bat 2 and King Cobra from this perfumier to be too safe for my tastes, and I am expecting something inoffensive this time too. But of those three, I'd say this has the best opening. It's a pleasing smell that would get compliments. Successfully evoking a moist green rainforest. Nothing dark, challenging, or animalic so far. 30 MIN IN The heart notes are starting to peek in, adding some (welcome) bitterness and complexity, and a musky, earthy vibe without a been-there soil accord. I suspect the jatamansi and cumin are leading that shift, with the sweet and floral notes balancing those out. Still very damp, like moss (not like laundry, as one reviewer mentioned below, but then again, I'm not yet an hour in...). So far, it's pleasingly natural-smelling, with no chemical harshness. As it shifts, it remains a pleasing smell that would get compliments. The bitterness also is not harsh; my nose isn't prickling at all. At this stage, it's a few yards away from either perfume shop or flower shop, without becoming generic or feminine. I'm intrigued by the development so far. 45 MINS IN Incoming! I didn't expect this to progress as significantly as it has, but yes, there's now a sweaty wave of cumin that conveys acidic body odor -- not the dank "unwashed neck" or crotch smell of Hyrax, but really more like armpits after a run, exactly as some other reviewers have described. I'm totally fine with this, and there's a long history of sweaty cumin notes in perfume, going back to Eau d'Hermes. Either this is your vibe or it isn't. It's interesting to pair this scent with the rainforest notes here, not the cinnamon and amber of Eau D'Hermes. In terms of narrative, I don't quite get it, and just did a quick web search and learned that sloths don't have sweat glands and don't sweat... as a result, they tend to smell green, with a mix of algae, fungi, and microbes mixed with their fur. This... makes sense to me because it's actually the bacteria mixed with human sweat that gives it that sharp cumin/onion smell. This smells funky but not musky. We've "zoomed" from the habitat to the animal itself, but without anything specifically furry or animalic. I'm now seeing the review from Nathan86 below, who made some similar comments. Overall, he and I agree. Very happy with this one so far. At this point, it *could* be mistaken for body odor socially yet is very pleasing. This is wearable and assertive, without being a big statement like Sacred Scarab or Squid. 2 HRS IN Top notes are gone, heart and base notes are blending, projection is lower. (I.e., everything one would hope for and expect.) Only question at this point is how long it will last and how interesting it stays in the final drydown. 3-6 HRS IN Smoky, mossy incense, with some of the heart notes still lingering. The mushroom and hay are keeping it earthy without coming across as literally dirt. -- Overall, I was surprised by this one. A winner, no complaints.

Zoologist Sloth invites you to look upward into the canopy of a dense rainforest, where sunlight filters through the leaves in soft, shifting patterns. Below, the forest floor teems with movement and unseen dangers, but high among the treetops the sloth rests within a quiet green refuge. Life in the canopy carries its own quirks. Sloths move so slowly that they sometimes mistake their own limbs for branches and lose their grip, drifting back down before climbing once more. There is a calm resilience to the animal, an easy acceptance of its surroundings, and Sloth captures that unbothered spirit with ease. The opening begins with chamomile at the forefront, cool and herbal, recalling a gently brewed chamomile tea that is lightly sweet and soothing. Violet leaf adds a fresh green earthiness, while lavender introduces a soft powdery calm. A subtle touch of açaí berry brings a mild ripe fruit nuance, more like fruit growing quietly on a tree than anything freshly cut or exposed. Together, the opening feels green, humid, and natural, as if the air itself carries the scent of leaves and herbs. After about thirty minutes, the mid starts to unfold. Marigold and jasmine lend a musky, slightly bitter herbal tone that deepens the composition without pushing it into overt florals. Anise and beeswax follow, adding a gentle honeyed warmth with a faint licorice character, while cumin enhances the damp, lived-in quality of a tropical rainforest. The mustiness here feels true to the setting, echoing warm air, moss, and the presence of life in constant slow motion. Several hours later, Sloth settles into a base of oakmoss, hay, frankincense, and myrrh. The incense-like resins are grounding and meditative, but the florals and herbs from earlier are still there, softly lingering underneath. You can still catch hints of marigold, jasmine, chamomile, and violet leaf as they mingle with the earthy base, carrying the green, calm character of the opening all the way through. The transition is gradual and calm, reinforcing the fragrance’s unhurried nature. This fragrance feels most right outdoors, where the warmth and humidity in the scent mirror the environment it was inspired by, but it works just as well as a personal escape. The gentle mustiness from the cumin and anise feels true not only to the animal itself but to the rainforest it inhabits. I almost wish I lived closer to a rainforest just to wear this one more often, though I may end up doing so anyway. Similar to the animal it's inspired by, this fragrance moves slowly and without a care in the world, and wearing it makes you feel the same way. Wonderfully slothful.

The opening of Sloth owes quite a bit to Fahrenheit, I think. That violet leaf accord is intense and smells of fuel, just like with the Dior, except with Sloth it is even drier, more chemically and intense thanks to healthy doses of chamomile and strident acai berry. However, hovering large and luminous very clearly in the background is the heat of a brown amber accord. But it’s not amber, strictly speaking, as I soon found out. Rather it’s a spicy and sweet mix of cumin and other Eastern spices and a very indolic jasmine nestled on a very interesting and firm but plush bed of jatamansi and honeycomb. If the opening wasn’t enough to grab your attention, this certainly will. Very, very clever, Mr. Lomros. This has all of the qualities of an amber but none of the typical notes. Rather than using baking spices like nutmeg or cinnamon in a typical amber, the savory and sweaty cumin is used along with the dark green mulling-spice of anise. Freshness and lightness are provided by jasmine instead of cold gray incense tendrils. Instead of sticky sweet balsams and vanilla/tonka, we get a funky and earthy jatamansi and a complex and well-rounded but naturally sweet honeycomb. And it’s at the heart, not the base! Stellar. The cumin note in particular lasts for an age, and I suppose, now, I see what this might have to do with a sloth. Arguably a more important and interesting characteristic than being very slow moving, their long fur is matted together with symbiotic fungus and algae, among other organisms, that turns their fur a tinge of green for camouflage but also helps them ward off pests and parasites. The long-lasting cumin note is probably something else as the base approaches, maybe a combination of incense and grasses and vetiver. Slightly fetid and swampy, certainly salty and sweaty, and simply “fungal” and “green”, it’s a very seamless transition from cumin to whatever this is. It’s not easy to like, to be honest. But, what it lacks in ease and pleasantness it makes up for in highly engaging curiousness. I cannot help but think of those organisms living in sloth fur when smelling the base, though slightly off-putting it maybe it also presents like a safety net or a shield. The base is guarding something even though it’s the last stage of the perfume. What a wonderful, curious and intriguing, and just a darn good perfume Sloth has turned out to be.

This is THE perfume that got me into perfumes. I was sitting in call with a friend where he showed me Fragrantica and how there's a whole world of different scents and when I stumbled across this very page I knew I HAD To smell it. And so I found a store that stocked Zoologist in SF, drove out to sample it and when I smelled it for the first time... I knew this was the first step in a fragrance journey I had just begun. The opening is like a Sloth sitting on a branch eating Acai berries. The berries are in the front, very strong but you can pick up something green something aquatic, something herbal and animalic... It's a little foggy... You're snacking on berries sitting by the jungle entrance, readying yourself for the adventure. And when you've finishing digesting, the dry-down hits and now you've fully started your trek. The berry mostly disappears but there's still a feint sweetness in your mouth. Suddenly the fougère backing becomes more prominent but it's only supporting. You can now fully envelop yourself in everything the Jungle has to offer. You find this oscillating green note that goes between green vegetal grass and damp cave moss. There's an aquatic with a cooling effect, almost like you're leaning down and drinking mineral water from a nearby river. The florals have more of a bite to them as you pick up almost honey-like facets. There's still some feint fungus around and you always feel the animal sweat on your back. All of these notes come and go throughout this experience until the perfumes fades off your skin and the scene fades to black. I love this perfume. It's dirty and feral but clean and classy, it's artsy and challenging but commercial and easily wearable. It's one of my favorite perfumes of all time and I love it so so much. Try it out!

This is Amazing. It's two fragrances in one. The opening is very herbal and fruity thanks to a brilliant camomile and Acai berry. Backed up with hay, violet leaf, and lavender, that opening is something special. Very calming, meditative and beautiful to smell. After 3-4 hours, it transitions slowly over to a more oakmossy, musty, dense and incensey scent. I don't know about the mushroom note, but i do get a damp ground/moss kind of feel. The fruits die down, and the mood of the fragrance changes. I LOVE how this is completely different in these two stages, but you never quite notice when it changes. It's like it starts in the canapé with eating fruits and leaves in the top of the trees, and the fragrance ends on the ground covered by moss and soil. This is nothing short of impressive. The journey of a sloth should be slow, and that's exactly what it is. I'd say Prin Lomros has made a perfect fragrance to represent a sloth in its habitat and its nature. Very well done. Where: Casual, Semi-formal, and specific ocations. It's not quite formal wear, but still very versatile. When: All year, but best in the middle temperatures of fall and spring. More summer then winter. Who: Wears unisex, imo. Any age could pull this of, but the nature of the fragrance may not be to the teens liking, being Very herbal in the opening. Personal score: 9,25/10. This is an impressive Zoologist fragrance. One that delivers on quality, complexity, journey, and imagery. Full bottle worthy without a doubt. (Always sample first)

So rarely I get a perfume that makes me go WHAT WHY WAIT WTF. That's one of those. I mean, I'm... I'm lost for words. I can't put it into sentences. This is so different, so strange. That acai chamomile - it really is present here a lot. I couldn't imagine before Sloth something so juicy, yet so niche, earthy, somewhat inedible? It's joined by an earthy tone but it's not damp enough to be disgusting, yet enough to be peculiar, strange, alluring. I could never imagine smelling a mushroom note with acai and chamomile in a serious, not a joke composition and going wow, I need it. I love it. This is a strong chamomile, acai, mountain-like herbal and earthy composition. It is a photorealistic forest floor smell. Herbal, camphorous, juicy berry, damp, earthy... The way the acai joins the Nard and herbals ot reminds me of the Iceland Moss with currants candy you suck on to protect the throat when you speak a lot at work or when you cough. Do not blind buy this - you might think the mushroom note is damp and disgusting. You might think the herbals remind you of ipecac or some different syrup. You might think it smells of old people. But please, test it as I've tested at least 700 fragrances in my life and never felt anything like this. Unisex, not for winter as it might die soon. Requires some boldness or alternative look to rock it especially that After 1-2 House it has an armpit note for real

Winner, winner, chicken dinner. I’ve been working 14 hours a day for the past week and am dragging ass in zombieland. However just in time my order from Zoologist arrives from Toronto and in it is a free sample of Sloth! This makes me so happy because I forgot to order one and really wanted to try it. I love it, this perfume perked up my senses and lifted my mood and let me give one last mighty push to finish my project. I love the tartness of the açaí berry, it’s not generic like some people say because of I’ve had this fruit several times in a drink and it does taste and smells like a cough syrup cherryish but slightly darker and deeper kind of flavor. It’s minty, very woody, sourish, berry like, and had some herbaceous notes, mossy notes, and a tiny bit of cumin that is mitigated by the strong wood so no bo smell. This is a future full bottle buy. I find this quite well balanced for Prin. I have his sample sets and his earlier work can be a bit heavy handed so I sense the art direction of Victor Wong in this perfume. It’s very pleasant but very unique at the same time. I don’t smell any off putting animalness. Three hours in when I take a close sniff at my hand, I do notice a very light slightly dried shiitake scent but it’s not full mushroom just a light hint once the wood note lightens up. Very nice 👍. Love, I haven’t had a really inspiring fragrance in a long time.

preface: I seldom kiss a perfume, here I kiss what's on the bottle of this, every day. I love elephants and adore rhinoceros, they are magnificent, Elephant is a play in greens and Rhinoceros is all about the hard and the grey. I appreciate the beaver and watch dragonflies, Beaver 2016 is about the water play and I still don't have a concrete concept of Dragonfly. if I have a signature fragrance in Zoologist it should be Sloth, for I was a sloth. look at all those adorable portraits of Zoologist's, the determined-look sloth dresses in expedition with firm eyes and the rain forest is behind him, it was a portrait of me and my dreamland is there. all the day with these Zoologist there is a smell lingers in my head prominently, it's not T. Rex, Bat 2020, Panda 2017 or Squid, finally I realised the animalic thing is the camouflage sloth, cozy in his down-to-earth steps, in a bed of healing chamomile. for me Sloth has an undertone smells just like the armpits of something, this cuteness brings me closer to it, or those were just mine. I suppose this is a fragrance slow in progress, needs special care, the distinctive intimate smell after 12+ hours is more in its domain and I always find my bro. a place on my handkerchief.

(the second review) Subconscious is interesting... after had the real bottle sealed for months, (this means if there is something wrong with it inside it's impossible to return!) One day came the idea to open it, carefully and expertly, for keeping the cellophane well, but to spray, the first press for me is always like a child is born. Then it's this afternoon my Sloth in the real bottle comes to my skin, welcome! Subconscious is curious... it comes to my mind from nowhere when I sniff this reminds me once I had the Chamomile perfumed oil of The Body Shop, ha... memories, the familiar soothing apple, but where is it now? I have long forgetton like my extravagant youth. Chamomile is usually not my cup of tea, thanks God here it's not sweet but healing, first it's bitter, dry like hay, after half an hour comes the moisture with oakmoss and sun-like marigold, there are more of the wildness, honey from the deep forest is dancing in the air but not like gourmands on the table, an intimate scent as close as a friend with his/her ture body odor, doesn't have to be shamed it's that good, it's the best perfume and well perfumed... Zoologist's longevity is always for hours, on the cloth for days, stories to be continued.

I really like this one. Zoologist sometimes has these very "out there" fragrances. This one is very unique, earthy, and animalistic without scaring away people like the literal "dirt and piss" smell of something like hyrax. Sloth is sweet and green. It smells like what I'd imagine a rainforest to smell like during a thunderstorm. It's not particularly sexy. But it's not unattractive. Its what a spring fragrance should smell like at its core (summer acceptable too). Like flowers blooming amid dense greenery. Yet it's not purely floral, because deep down Sloth is based on... well.. a sloth aka an animal. Some animalistic and gentle spicy notes shine through the green mossy notes. I'm honestly surprised that as of the timing of this review Sloth's rating is on the lower end of the ratings for various scents in Zoologist's collection. This one is quite agreeable (by comparison). It's not purposely confrontational like some Zoologist fragrances tend to be, T Rex and Hyrax come to mind in that sense (that said I own and love T Rex BECAUSE of that quality). Sloth is quite inoffensive and pleasant by Zoologist standards, with above average but not mind blowing aillage and longevity. I genuinely love it.

Right out of the bottle, Sloth smells like a walk through the jungle. It is a warm and moist day, you can smell the plants and fruits that are growing all around you. After a few minutes, it feels like you discovered an old temple along the way. You unseal the stone door that had not been opened in over 100 years, if not longer... It is nice and cool outside and you can still smell remnants of the incense that was lit here daily before the temple had become abandoned. You can't help yourself and venture down the dripping hallways which lead you deeper and deeper underground. The further you go, the more the incense scent mixes with the scent of the damp earth until the rich wet soil eventually replaces the incense altogether. This scent reminds me of Tomb Raider, Uncharted, Indiana Jones, and the last 45 minutes of Apocalypse Now. Sloth was a blind buy for me; I highly recommend it for those who are adventurous and well-travelled. For those who don't relate to the previous two sentences, I would suggest not blind buying.

I have to admit, I bought a sample of this because sloths are one of my favourite animals, not because it sounded like it would be a scent I'd like. I'm generally not a fan of herbal/aromatic scents, and the thought of cumin in a fragrance makes me gag (no offense). What a shocking surprise - I love this! First of all, on me at least, the perfume has a slightly astringent smooth aftershave feel overall, probably as a result of the tart berries, calming chamomile, moss, and lavender, and this prevents it from veering off into "too weird/unwearable". This is beautifully subverted and contrasted with bursts of earthy, sweet hay and lush, ambery mushrooms. It's a very inviting perfume - it lulls you into a peaceful, cool calm and then embraces you with surprising warmth and intensity. PS: I don't believe in gendered fragrances, just personal preference, and it's my own personal preference that, while I enjoyed the experience of wearing this myself, I feel like I would love this even more on a man.

Zoologist weaves quite the aromatic tapestry with this little one. On initial spray I got the rush of chamomile I expected followed by hay and a score of manly notes that normally terrify me. Lavender, anise, cumin oh my! Honestly Sloth isn't any spicier than old school fems like Aromatics Elixir and even less spicy than something like CK Euphoria and we lived through those. It has an earthy semi sweetness that strongly reminds me of tree sap. The lavender note, prominent from beginning to end, lends a spa like quality. God I wish they made this in a bath bomb. The overall construction feels meditative, earthy, uplifting, medicinal. After awhile the jungle floor gives way to a creamy beeswax and myrrh, the spices fade, everything becomes rounder, more feminine. I detect a musky animalic making for a delicious dry down. I don't know how Zoologist tap danced around IFRA but the oak moss note in this is perfect. Sufficiently edgy, totally wearable. My new favorite from this house.

If you want to smell damp, then your journey has come to an end. This boy is DAMP. All kinds of dampness. Damp fur, green damp jungle overgrowth, damp laundry that's been sitting around for half a week because some kind of Jumanji incident took place, and you had to abandon the house, and now there's swamps, and vegetation, and monsoons in there, and it's damp, damp, damp. But here's the thing: oddly, somehow it 100% works. Like, incredibly well. It's soothing, and transportive, and meditative, and yeah, distinctly damp, but it's a fantastic piece of art. I If I had to rank all the Zoologists solely on how well they depicted the namesake animals, it would be hard not to put this at #1. Not blind buy worthy AT ALL, but it absolutely nails the brief. My vote for best jungle-in-a-bottle scent, and top tier Zoologist IMO.

This is one of my favorites from zoologist and the first perfume I've smelt that has 4 distinct stages. The opening is STRONG, to the point of being off putting. Maybe I drink too much chamomile tea & acai smoothies, but i straight up get hints of urine for the first couple of minutes on skin and i feel like throwing up. Then, the earthy-incense starts to kick in and I'm TRANSPORTED to a mahogany floored Incan-Hindu temple in Peru. This scent does an incredible job of being masculine and the opposite of emasculating at the same time. After a couple of hours, this scent starts to s....l...o...w.... the fuck down. No, it's not a placebo effect. The scent gets slow, dense, and earthy with a hint of B.O, but not in a disgusting way. The next morning, you'll be left with a classy, gentleman-like after glow.

I've had Sloth for almost a year, and I've been wearing it from time to time. This is a perfume that is out of the ordinary. This is so totally different from anything out there, it's truly a work of art, and it definitely bears the imprint of its creator Prin Lomros. Others have already described the different notes and the moods it evoques, so I'm not going to repeat that. It could be said this is a polarizing perfume, some will love it, some will hate it. I do like it, but it's still not a love for me (I'm not won over by the top notes); however, it's s-l-o-w-l-y growing on me, I definitely love the middle and base notes in the drydown. 7h+ longevity on my skin, and moderate sillage. Sloth is not offensive, but this is not a safe blind buy. Try on your skin before you buy.

I've never smelled anything like Sloth. The opening is a burst of so many different notes- berries, herbs, leaves, moss, cumin- all vying for dominance. It's honestly a little overwhelming, but as it settles hay and mushroom come out on top with an undercurrent of cumin-y funk. It's humid, earthy, green, and a little bitter, with just the oddest hint of savoryness. There are so many nuances to this scent. It's like walking through a rainforest, right down to the mud and sweat coating your skin. Eventually it dies down to a soft, mossy green. Still earthy, but slightly sweet. The hay still dominates but in a more familiar way. You've left the deep forest for a farmer's hayloft. When can you wear Sloth? Hell if I know. But it sure does take you on a journey.

I’ve been trying all of the zoologist perfumes. I haven’t gotten through all of them yet, but this one is the first one that has absolutely struck me as worthy of a full bottle. The only problem is that both my husband and I want it! So, it’s a must for me. I do think it’s worth mentioning that I did not care for it when I sprayed it on paper. I’m glad that I gave it a real test drive. On skin it is absolutely stunning. It’s the first fragrance for me that lists cumin as a note that I don’t think absolutely reeks of body odor. It’s berries and green and gritty. And it lasted for my whole workday. Never overpowering. Just beautiful.

'Sloth' was not a love at first sniff for me. After hearing that people surprisingly received compliments wearing this, I decided to give it another shot, and it definitely grew on me. The scent is very earthy, mossy, and damp. The açai berry is very prominent to my nose, but so are the camomile and hay. Over time, hints of lavender begin to emerge and that's where I saw the appeal. I didn't give this fragrance enough time initially, because it develops so nicely on skin. The combination of notes is actually very calming and tranquil, kind of like the mood of a sloth! I haven't smelled anything like this before.

Now that ive worn this for a couple of days this is really great! I want to share some of my thoughts. First off this fragrance is actually not as green as it seems in my opinion. The opening has all sorts of greens but in the drydown i get a dirty, earthy, cumin vetiver. This fragrance is one of the least mass appealing zoologists ive smelled. This is not the fragrance to wear when wanting to impress someone. This is probably because of the dirty, sweaty animalic aspects of this. However i really like this. It’s a comforting kind of dirty, and a little filth goes a long way. Its perfect when in a forest biome.

Another great creation of the brand ! Herbal, sour , tangy with a great calming base. I would define this as "herbal and complex" with a hint of sweat, as the sloth if you have ever smelled one from close, it's a stinky little cute animal. Sloth's sweat has a pungent note in real life, and i find it here in this perfume accompanied by a great perfume underneath. So interesting i love Zoologist so much ! Sloth is in my top 5 of the entire brand. Try on skin and i would say slightly more masculine for sure. It has that "elegant vintage aftershave" smell, with a modern herbal- animalic twist. Beautiful !

Sloth is not nearly as challenging to wear as some reviews make it sound like. There's little to no mushroom or animalic accord to this fragrance (sadly..) and it is overall just a very green and relaxing herbal scent. The cumin did throw me off slightly at the beginning but it fades away quite fast. Chamomile is 100% the most dominant note, followed by hay and lavender. Pretty, but could be a teeny bit more wild and interesting. Update: I GET THE SWEAT NOW. i haven't tried spraying it on clothes before but this changes everything. sharp yet pleasant. so damn awesome.

Sloth is such a wearable scent for anyone that loves oakmoss or earthy notes. Despite the number of floral notes, it is very much a unisex fragrance. It is long-lasting and fresh. I would even say this one is safe for work wear. As with any Zoologist fragrance, I would absolutely sample before buying any larger sizes, but that goes with any fragrance. This is perfect for spring or summer. It has this green vibe that reminds of laying in a hammock while a gentle breeze wafts in the smells from a summer garden laden with flowers and herbs.

Love it! It's heavy and languid very much sleep inducing without being cliche. It smells like warm spices in wax, like cinnamon, nutmeg, large white and deep red booms, and vanilla. I don't do vanilla, but if I did it would smell like this. Aromatic and woody, warm and perfect for winter social events without smelling like a cinnamon scented pine cone. The dry down is muted warming incense, the spices never get sharp they all exist in a golden cloud of warm deep wood bark.

"Sloth" is an impressive smelling fragrance where the notes combine into a complex grouping of spiced, earthy, and fresh scents. I don't know what a sloth nor its environment smells like, but by itself this is a fantastic smell regardless. It is extremely heavy on cumin, chamomile, acai, and foresty notes, like oakmoss, hay, and a touch of lavender after it dries. I haven't worn this yet so I don't know if it's different worn, but so far I am loving this.

I really wanted to like Chypre Mousse... however, it has this hars ambery note that i cannot really decipher what it is. I only know that I don't like it in that composition and it doesn't fit. Sloth borrows much from Chypre Mousse, eliminates that harsh ambery note, tones down earthy notes a bit , and focuses more on florals (mainly chamomile). Another masterpiece from Prin, definitely something that i could (and probably will) own and wear

As a fan of the chypre structure and the cumin note- this became a big home run for me. Though it took many tries to ease through that initial blast of mushrooms and earth , the dry down that happens during the 5-6 hour point is a delicious, intense steady hum of overripe fruits, hay, vetiver and a touch of sweaty fur makes this a soothing scent in between seasons. The fragrance “pyramid” might look like a mess but it’s Well constructed

It makes me smell like I just spent the last 24 hours rolling around and sleeping on a mulchy and leafy forest floor. I absolutely love it for a night in. I don't feel comfortable wearing it out for the first 4 hours though, as it mixes with my sweat to make me smell rather dirty even if I've just showered. I'm happy to smell like that when I'm at home, but not with other people. Still, it's very relaxing to me and I love it

Earthy New Age Pagan Witch🔮🌿 It has this mossy musk but then has these herbaceous florals that smooth out the fragrance🏵 I love how magical and wet earthy this perfume is- it takes a while to develop (slow as a sloth) but somehow it has this base of earthy sweetness on my skin🤗. Absolutely love this fragrance, super androgynous but has this dark mysterious sexiness about it💋 Zodiac Trio ⬆️Aquarius ☀️Capricorn🌜Cancer

Green, lots of delicious acai berries, violet, a little chamomile. Fruity herbal, then mossy, earthy and a tiny bit dirty. In the dry down a stunning hay-ish fruity sweet blend! For some reason I was expecting these perfumes to be far more experimental but what I found are adorable, friendly, beautiful works of art. Each one with a very different character and all very thoughtfully constructed.

If “Dragonfly” accompanied us to an ethereal lake near a fairy forest, “Sloth” drags us directly into the darkest ravines of the rainforest. A perfume that combines a thousand green, earthy, animalic scents, in a mix of primordial sensations between clear chaos and dark stillness. Cloudy and watery, it is one with the tangles of the mother earth to captivate every olfactory sense. Incredible!

This really smells at first like a fluffy dog that was washed with camomille shampoo (it smells nice but that’s the image). And then, the best way I could describe it was that it smells like a nice hug from my dad. My dad used to wear JPG’s le mâle which actually makes sense considering the notes in Sloth. It’s more subdued, spicier (maybe the cumin?) and cozier. It’s a very evocative smell.

Very interesting perfume. I a big fan of Prin Lomros and I always can smell every note and layer that changes over time. I believe Prin uses absolutely correct notes to represent my soul animal - sloth. Moss + mushrooms + flowers (sweetness) = great realistic result. Unfortunately, longevity is not the best (moderate-low) that kinda stops me buy a bottle.

Oh my! I have found a Zoologist that I love almost as much as I love my Rabbit. Sloth is so grounded, chill, earthly. The opening is somehow straight up Tiger Balm to me, but this mentholated effect goes away quick, and the fragrance become this gorgeous mix of chamomile, licorice (or star anise) and dry, dusty hay. I am so in love with this one!

Opens with chamomile and fruity acai Then it turns floral and herbal-aromatic I can detect lavender, jasmine and violet along with some aromatic hay and green notes The dry down is very earthy where is smells like slightly damp soil with moss and mushrooms There is a sweaty-dirty component that is giving the fragrance as a whole an animalic touch

There’s a top note in this that is a bit difficult for me—definitely smells like a stinky, moss-laden rainforest creature. But after that burns off this fragrance is absolutely delightful. It’s a fruity-mossy-waxy experience. I can’t get enough of this. I find it extremely comforting. Big love.

I love Acai Berry note! I know its a top note but for me I smell it through out the entire time I'm wearing it. This dense jungle smell is brilliant, from the jungle floors mushrooms, moss and dirt to the bark and vines of the trees that the sloths slowly move through.

Reminds me of a rainforest version of Civet. If Civet were to be worn in A/W then this would be worn S/S. Comparatively. There’s really no downside to the Sloth. I personally think it’s a goated and amazing scent. It’s definitely along the lines of unisex. Love it.

Such a unique scent....the only problem is that once it dries down, it reeks of oakmoss. A bit less oakmoss and this would have been a one-of-a-kind creation. Also, this is very very similar to Vert D'encens / Fougere Platine by Tom Ford.

This is an earthy, bitter and a little bit sour green fragrance. I bought this because i had to smell a fragrance with a mushroom note. Kinda similar to Nasomatto Absinthe, but wayy better. It really smells like a dirty jungle

Sloth makes me smell like I just snacked on sweet fruit in a tropical setting. It's unique and I'll be smelling my wrist all day. It's mossy, floral with a sweet honey scent.

The sample included with my bottle of Harvest Mouse (review upcoming) reminded me I need to review this one as well. Sloth is one that I needed to learn to appreciate. I didn't like it much on first sniff back a few years ago. In fact, I found it slightly repulsive. Fast forward 2-3 years, armed with better knowledge about perfumery, an understanding of animalics and dare I say, an increasing appreciation for them, Sloth is an entirely different beast for me now. What I mean to say here is that I understand why this could be divisive. An untrained nose might find this one repulsive and even trained noses that aren't into green fragrances will probably not like it. Yep, this is a green one. Very, very green, with an earthy fruitiness in the drydown that probably makes it even more challenging for many. Myself, what I now get on first spray is very pleasant. Bright, herbal greenness. Straight up chlorophyll, like rubbing leaves and sniffing them. Yet, there's no astringency or bitterness here, it's a very smooth, pleasant greenness, probably helped out by the other notes. There's a tartness but it never becomes unpleasant. It's a very balanced perfume. Prin Lomros's skill at work, definitely. Those familiar with his work will feel at home here. I think the "issue" people have with Sloth is when it shifts and becomes something quite different through the drydown. The greenness becomes earthiness with a certain fruity aspect (what people often describe as overripe/rotten fruits) that makes it challenging. The mushroom note here is probably what's at work. I find it a rather fascinating perfume. I don't myself find it soothing or calming as I do Koala, as Sloth lacks a medicinal aspect I love in Koala but I still rather like to wear it but I advise those who do to be mindful of others, you might get funny looks. On the technical side, Sloth is a very morphic perfume. It changes a lot through the longevity as I explained above. It sticks for a rather long time, on me a good 8-10 hours, more when it's warmer. It also pushes out quite surprisingly, so careful in small spaces. I would say this is more a spring/fall wear. Perhaps in the cooler summer days but be warned that this might be slightly overwhelming in high humidity or in close quarters. Definitely a sample first case, this won't be for everyone, probably not in the first fragrances of the house I'd suggest unless you're already a fraghead.

Between this and Bee (Zoologist as well), i like this one more. That is to say they are very similar scents with two different personalities. Both are beeswaxy, but Bee makes beeswax smell stuck-up and this one makes it smell like an animal. It smells kind of like Florida. on paper, the chamomile note is CRAZY pungent, not so much on skin. Almost eucalyptus-like, like minty leaves, or herbal tea. I definitely smell the hay, chamomile, beeswax, and fungus. This is a song, and that song is “Life Itself” by Glass Animals. 100%. If I could describe this one, Sloth comes from the same family Bee does. Trust-fund baby from an aristocratic family, his mum is a powdered-wig wearing aristocrat in elaborate rococo style dresses (Bee), and Sloth is the lazy fun-loving jerk who has a dumb smile on his face all the time. And I mean that in a loving way because I like this one a lot. Sloth is so effortlessly cool and hipster, inherited all this wealth and acts like he has none at all, and he watches the world go by with a bemused smirk. Someone who was born into a world where everything just comes naturally. There’s no hustle, no effort. Doesn’t work but somehow lives the life everyone else wants. Someone who says "For real.” and "You feel me?” Also has a Paddington bear vibe to it? I don’t know how to place it. its like an animal from the jungle was brought into modern society and did it well, with bouncy happy earthiness to it. There’s just something so charmingly wholesome about it. Being part of high society, still carries a sense of belonging to the earth and the jungle even still. Sloth is definitely animalic but its so tranquil that its hard to be intimidating. Not particularly sexy, it's charming and laid-back. Like a cool humid morning instead of a sweltering humid day. Saw one person compare this to Empty Wishes Well by Toskovat’ and this just is way too bouncy and peppy for me to see that comparison. This is more masculine than other nature-inspired scents I’ve tried so far.

First impressions- Boozy, Hazy, RICH. This is a really heavy fragrance. There are some floral notes but they’re mainly overpowered by the thick dampness of the moss and herbal onslaught that comes straight out of the gate with this one. Also..mushroom? I don’t even know what to look for with that one but I suppose it could have added to the sharp and herbal element or could have been a nutty and earthy aroma (although I didn’t detect the latter). After a few hours - this is a slow developing scent. Much like a sloth, it moves slowly and releases the rest of it’s base notes only after sitting on the skin for an hour or longer. After some time, the sweeter opening notes dissipate and I was left with more green notes; hay, wild vegetation and spice. The myrrh is sharp and potent and carries hints of incense and deep resins along with it. Sillage and longevity -both pretty damn beastly. This lasted on my skin for several hours and the woody and deeper musky notes stuck around for the majority of that time. Would I buy a bottle - This is a tricky one for me to decide on. It’s definitely going to be a fragrherbalance that you will either love or hate. I don’t hate it, but I don’t know if I like it enough to want to buy a bottle. Also, I’d be curious to see how this wears in colder weather and it’s so deep and rich that wearing it in warmer weather means that you’re going to suffocate under the heaviness of it. I will say that I love how Zoologist develops the entire concept and story behind a fragrance; they look at an animal and consider its natural habitat as well as its personality and traits and combine those to form one cohesive product. 3 words to describe this scent- hazy, dense,

As charmed and intrigued as I am by the thought of smelling like I’d trudged through the depths of a wild rainforest, to me, this bad boy is primarily just...damp. It's as damp as the fur of a sloth who's been washed out of the trees by a Jumanji-style jungle monsoon. Sloth smells as though you had ground a batch of tropical fruits into wet and grainy soil, dug your hands in, smeared the mud across your face in a primitive manner, and now the earth is caked underneath your fingernails. Not entirely dissimilar to the fruity damp cave scent of Zoologist’s Bat, except Sloth is more green. I think it could’ve benefited from yet more greenery to encapsulate the rainforest aesthetic, and maybe even some light aquatics to suggest dew dripping from misty jungle treetops after a wild storm. But what do I know? Still, it's a fascinating and perplexing scent. As is the case with Zoologist fragrances, several are hits, few are misses, and some are sheer works of art – but they’re always unique and unlike anything you’ve smelled before. Sloth is no different, and I’m glad it exists. I’d love to meet the person who can pull this off, but I’m not sure yet if that person is me. Though I suspect – just like the algae that grows on the sedentary sloth and turns the creature’s fur a greenish tint to help it blend into the rainforest canopy – that this scent too will grow on me over time. In five words or less: Damn, that’s damp.
