Вечер (Evening)

I received a vintage bottle of this Soviet time capsule from my friend whose mom had it on her dresser for 30 odd years. She didn't want it so it became mine :) Since this is most likely a discontinued fragrance, judging from the dearth of information on it and no ebay listings, I doubt this review would be useful. However! Fragrantica Russia has 3 reviews on it, and I'm determined this should have a representation on the English site as well. And perhaps one day someone might chance upon a buried bottle somewhere and be curious... First of all, the glass stopper was frozen in the bottle when I got it. Decades of being unopened has left the stopper glued tightly to the bottle neck. I spent hours trying everything: hot water, chilling in fridge, alcohol, laying it on its side, upending the bottle. Finally my husband succeeded in twisting it off with some good old fashion elbow grease. Now the juice! This is a lush, heady lilac so concentrated that when smelled up close, it takes on an almondy facet. It projects beautifully and offers a very realistic and beefy lilac note from arm's length. Very glamorous and old school. It's simple, elegant and very very strong. But the last point could be due to the age of the juice coupled with evaporation. My bottle was about 1/3 evaporated leaving a dark amber liquid. I probably wouldn't wear it out, but I will cherish this historical artifact and dab some on every now and then to travel back in time.
