Do nosso caderno

Dior Pure Poison is a timeless floral fragrance which emerges as a luminous, ethereal potion that captivates the mind and soul with its delicate balance of freshness and sensuality. Everyone is familiar with the famous Poison fragrance and it's successors like Hypnotic Poison or Poison Girl. But among these bold and glamorous counterparts, Pure Poison crafted by master perfumers Carlos Benaïm, Dominique Ropion, and Olivier Polge back in 2004, is a floral masterpiece which is the perfect example of a scent that dances between sunlit innocence and moonlit mystery. The fragrance opens with a refreshing and radiant burst of citrusy notes. The jasmine is the star of the composition, it weaves its narcotic thread from the opening till the end. But please note this is not the heady, indolic jasmine of midnight gardens, but a innocent, refined, airy and almost translucent realistic jasmine. The blending with orange blossom and gardenia creates a crisp, clean, and kind of soapy vibe. Together, they create a bouquet that feels both nostalgic and modern! Like a whisper of vintage glamour softened by a contemporary clarity. The clean soapy freshness here evokes the sensation of clean warm skin after the shower. To me this is the quality that makes Pure Poison feel effortlessly elegant, as if it is a natural aura of the wearer’s own radiance. The base notes of sandalwood, cedar, white amber, and white musk adds the extra sophistication and sensuality to the fragrance. The white musk feels like bare skin kissed by sunlit linen and adds a certain intimacy to the scent profile. Pure Poison is a scent perfect for all seasons. It's a fragrance worthy to be a signature scent. Because of it's citrusy brightness and clean florals it can be a summer staple—perfect for sun-drenched days and humid evenings. It can easily be worn during cold winter days too as it gives the vibe of soft cashmere wrap in the drydown. It is a versatile fragrance which has the ability to adapt in any weather, any situation and any occasion. It's crisp enough for office wear, yet sophisticated enough for evening allure. In fact, this was my own wedding fragrance during the hot and humid evenings of summer. At the same time Pure Poison feels innocent yet seductive - justifying it's name Pure Poison! Even after almost two decades since its launch, Pure Poison remains an icon. It's like the quieter, innocent, sophisticated sibling of her bold and powerful sisters. It's like a constant reminder that true seduction often lies in what is left unspoken! In a world of changing trends, where you'll notice everyday many new fragrances are being released, getting hyped and fleeting away from the memory quickly and quietly, Dior’s Pure Poison endures as a testament to timeless elegance. It's a true masterpiece and a must have for white floral lovers as well as white musk lovers. The fragrance leaves a scent trail that is both comforting and subtly seductive. Longevity is around 6+ hours with moderate projection. But it stays faintly on the skin or clothes so whenever someone will hug you they'll notice your fragrance. So, spray this and let it become your invisible jewel: a secret whispered in sunlight, lingering long after the day fades!

If Nicole Dollanganger was a perfume. My first encounter with this perfume was in a Russian shopping mall, in a major city other than Moscow. You can imagine, the idea of luxury was there, but the lack of vitality permeated everything, especially in the unbearable heat of Summer. At that time, I had been thrown further into my isolation, and my social facade had come to reflect that; I felt I had been divorced from society, and that the malaise was incurable. I coped with deep delusions of my romanticised loneliness. I was sleeping more than twelve hours a day. My favourite colours were grey and baby pink. I was barely alive. I still barely am, and I like to return to that state of mind when dissociation is the fine line I walk so as not to panic at the feeling of my own body. When I first learned of real angels, I wanted to be genderless like them. Faceless, and composed only of eyes, and feathers, but no occipital lobe. I did not want to comprehend what I saw around me. I wouldn't have a need to, if I wasn't of this world. To me, this perfume is exactly that. The fragrance was so delicate, even whilst well macerated (from the difference I smelled in a fresh batch, I assume 1-2 years). The hairspray reminded me of fine spider silk, and gave my mind respite through the noise, and something to focus on. It reminded me of dense little baby hairs, and how virgin hair is always softest. Baby hairs, and the fine silk of cobwebs and lace. It would have been girly had it not left such a detached impression, that demanded transcendance of social constructs such as gender; I remember reading a review that said it smelt like angel skin, and I couldn't agree. I wanted to be a faceless, genderless, angel clean of the world, and my personality void. I wanted to be purely axiomatic, and find contentment in a place assigned to me. I had no desires, and I needed order to function. I took that on well. The scent left me feeling like I had finally found my distance against all the overwhelming mess and noise of life's droning mundanity, the ugliness of pus and disease, and the rot so obviously encroaching, permeating me, and leaving me awfully mortal, fragile, and vulnerable, like a blistering wound to the sun. Its camphor scent reminded me of powdery old rooms, covered in dust but not unclean, in my grandmother's house, who was always close to the angels. She was always covered in lace and powder, and I think of her benefic nature as somewhat indescribable, because mundane words only serve to chain when they are insufficient to shape and articulate. So I agree, this perfume is like angel skin. It's clean, almost caustic like proper soap in its cleanliness. It alludes to nothing human. If you want to transcend your own body, and the ephemerality of all, this is the one. It bestows nothing human upon the wearer, but human concepts of beauty are alluded to through its cosmetic scent. It's all one simple, neutral front anyone could ever wish to put forth. It's only unfortunate that the sillage is weak. I so desperately wished to immerse myself, and hide in it, and let the perfume do the talking for me.

When I owned this I had a love and hate thing with it. For the most part the word screechy came to mind when I’d wear it. It’s STRONG and it has a mixture of things I like and don’t like. It reminds me of a strong “ocean breeze” laundry detergent that I can’t stand along with Cool Water for men and a lot of jasmine flowers. I don’t know why I barely notice the citrus maybe a little of the bergamot and something salty, something synthetic and something 80’s “hairsprayish” but I do still enjoy the jasmine in it and it is a lovely perfume for the right person. It’s just that for me, this was one of those “I love the notes but they don’t mix well with me” kind of situations. Lately I find myself wanting to smell it again though. Make it make sense... Edit on 11/29/25: Low and behold... I ended up getting this again because I kept thinking about it. There’s just something about it that I must love and appreciate more now. It still reminds me of ocean breeze, a jasmine ocean breeze. A salty, jasminey (slightly grapey jasmine) pungent ocean mist with bergamot riding along and definite sandalwood and I think the sandalwood mixed with the citrus is what reminded me of detergent at some point previously. Oddly enough, I understand this perfume a little more now. Enough to have made me purchase it once again and give it a chance. I’m actually enjoying it more. I would try smelling it before buying though. I don’t consider it a safe blind buy. Still a heavy white floral that might throw some ppl off but I personally don’t care because I wear it for me. Some might say it leans feminine but I say it’s “almost” unisex thanks to that green/fresh touch along with the citrus and sandalwood.

I was meeting my mother for our usual mother/son lunch at one of her overbearingly hoity toity establishments, and as we performed our version of a hug (a maneuver requiring the illusion of affection while maintaining a two inch barrier of personal space), her eyes lit up. That's usually the prelude to a comment about how I look tired and need better eye cream. But instead, "Oh my, that's nice! It smells like nothing else you wear. It smells very...classy." Thanks, old woman. Anyway, she wasn't wrong. Pure Poison is, against all odds, the exact scent of having your s*** together. It's one of the classiest perfumes you can buy. It's a gorgeous waterfall of white florals. But the jasmine, gardenia, and orange blossom are completely scrubbed clean. Clean, as in surgically clean. It's very standoffish, but somehow still very delicate and wearable. It's perfectly soft and just so elegant. It opens with icy citrus and dries down into a creamy sandalwood. If a perfume were a cashmere sweater, this'd be the one. And the projection is downright perfection. It doesn’t scream for attention like some desperate club hopping fragrance (See: Scandal, Juicy Couture, etc). It has just enough sillage to leave an impression without suffocating the people around you and radiates a sort of unbothered superiority. Perfect for occasions like job interviews, first dates, weddings or putting your passive aggressive mother in a home. I need to be baptized in this stuff.

I got this last night. It took me five minutes to decide I wanted this. Unfortunately, they didn’t have a smaller size in this perfume for me to test if I really wanted this, but I did not need a smaller size. I can’t come up with a whole story or character for this one because it is a very plain and inoffensive fragrance. If you know what the Trader Joe’s hand cream smells like — the one that comes in a paint-like tube — it smells just like that. Which is perfect because I’ve been looking for something that smells like that. There isn’t a particular note that sticks out too much; if you look at the pyramid while smelling this, you can pinpoint which notes there are. But without that, it smells... generally just good. Like, when you walk into Ulta and there’s just that nice smell. I definitely get a jasmine note, but one that’s more creamy than floral. It’s not overwhelming. I do get compliments on this one. I just with they’d sell it in different sizes so I can bring it everywhere with me. Pretty good longevity, lasts about 5 or so hours on me, but people can’t really smell it after that long. Only I can smell it. The sillage is pretty moderate, you’d need someone to be standing within 5 feet of you to smell it. Perfect for all seasons and any time of day.
