Magic Night

In my quest on discovering more perfumes from Novaya Zarya I've got to the point when I confronted myself with question: "Why on Earth I need all those perfumes like Chanel, Rochas, and others if there are perfumes from Novaya Zarya?" Stupid question, right? Who can compete with Chanel? Well... In my mind Novaya Zarya doesn't need to compete at all, it will beat crap out of Chanel IF only perfumes wouldn't be of Russian origins. A strange to me snobbish attitude towards anything from Russia seems like couldn't be possibly overcome by some people, particularly by Russians themselves. Paradox... Anyway... I don't know how original Magie Noire from Lancome smells like, never tried it and I don't think I am interested enough now to find out. Magic Night is something of really magical... and I can't put my finger on it... Patchouli? Yes, lots of it... and I hate patchouli. But I love them here, so how is this possible? I guess it's not much of help for people who would like to try it. Well, all I can say, just go for it if you like complex, mature, spicy, femme fatale kind of perfumes, you might be surprised. Not for someone who is into light floral/sweet/fruity/soda pop/daisies/cherries-mangoes modern concoctions. It's dark, it's mysterious, it's intelligent and yes, it's magical in the dry down. It's magnificent. A magic night indeed. P.S. The only thing is, the spray on my bottle hasn't been fixed properly, so I've got my bottle half full. Oh well... I will definitely get another one, but Novaya Zarya better to fix this issue of wobbly atomisers as it doesn't do any good to company's name. Btw, I love their minimalistic flat bottles, pure perfection.

Well if some lab in Moscow can churn out a better version of vintage Magie Noire than the original creators (Lancôme) you’d have to recalibrate your fragrance compass. This isn’t an identical copy of old Magie Noire, but my god it puts the new one to shame. As an aside, I don’t know who is responsible for identifying the notes on Fragrantica, but based on the number of erroneous submissions and how so many members have called out the incorrect notes for so many fragrances....is it a 14 year old on work experience? And that’s fine if it is...just saying. Update on longevity...applied after shower 7am yesterday morning, still perceptible 25 hours later.

This is a dupe for Magie Noir, but it is not the exact copy of it. I do love the longevity, and sillage better than Lancome original version. It was created in time, the market was closed for Western fragrances, this is why such close resemblance. Women from Soviet Union loved French perfumes, without the ability of getting it. I don't get the strawberry note here. The blackcurrent note is promiment, and it is chypre fragrance. Love it deeply.

Beautiful perfume. Very like the old formula of Magi Noire. I love this perfume,it lasts forever and smells divine. It's a very good price if bought from the Russian Federation.

I'm sending Moppety a big thank you across the ether as well. I own a vintage bottle of Magie Noire - and Magic Night smells more like it than the current version of Magie Noire does. Magic Night is a good deal harsher when first sprayed, but that's not really surprising, given the price point. That does dispel after an hour or so, and you're left with a pretty good facsimile of vintage Magie Noire. And it lasts - even on my perfume gobbling skin, I can smell it well over 12 hours later. The notes above are completely wrong, and MN is not a fruity floral perfume - it's a chypre, like Magie Noire. I can smell civet, galbanum, oakmoss, honey and incense; if pressed, I'd say that oakmoss is the strongest note (to my nose - but I'm not brilliant at separating out notes). Seriously, if you miss vintage Magie Noire, give this a try - it's incredibly cheap. Check eBay.

I bought this as I'd read some reviews that said it was like the vintage Magic Noire by Lancome. It does smell like the original, but it gave me a migraine that lasted all day, even after I'd washed it off, and I don't get migraines, it was horrendous. It went straight to a charity shop and I hope who ever got it didn't have the same misfortune as me.

Huge thank you to Moppety27 and VVM for spreading the gospel about this gem. I was looking for a gift for my lovely yet strong sister and your comments helped me put my money on Magic Night. After the very first try, my sister asked me to get two more for her: that is how amazing this thing is. She has the Usuals (Chanel, Dior,Dolce&Gabanna, etc) and some niche fragrances. She said Magic Noire is definitively superior to the Usuals but is not as polished or refined as some of her Creed (although those are $300+ price tag). She call Magic Night the "Best Ever Flagrance For the Money", with great longevity and projection. One note of caution from her is to go very very easy on the trigger: two light quick sprays are more than enough for 24 hours. I am sending Moppety a hug across the ocean for sharing this bargain . I just ordered three bottles. I will update when they arrive, but I am optimistic since the reviews are so good . The price is incredible. Call me crazy, but I have felt such a sense of loss over the slaughter of the perfumes that used to put a spring in my step . Remember when you could spray three times and then smell your perfume on your sweater ten hours later? I did not mind forking over a lot of money for Chanel when they were high quality . Now , Allure and Coco are not even what I consider perfume . It seems fraudulent to me to call the watery mist perfume. Same goes for the Estée Lauder classics . I cringe when I smell Beautiful and Youth Dew now. I hope others will chime in and share any scents they discover that last several hours and Have some sillage . I really am so thankful to Moppety for sharing this with me !!

I ordered this from (e)BAY through a Russian Federation seller . I put it on several hours ago and it is still going STRONG . Magic Night reminds me of the EARLY Magie Noire , not the current version of 2019. I have to say it is very nice and one that lovers of Magie Noire should definitely check it out . I am impressed with the longevity and the overall scent . And what a bargain!!

I'm not sure what everyone else is smelling but it doesn't resemble how I remember Magie Noir from the 80's. It smells almost off, with an odd undertone. Maybe they have changed the formulation of this but it will be going in the bin! I have tried the new Magie Noir and sadly this just smells like a mans fragrance on me.

I don't see this anywhere on the web anymore. I'm thinking I won't find it in the U.S. in 2025. (For reasons?)

Smells like cheap, heavy, underdeveloped-world perfumes. It's actually pretty terrible.
