Vetiver & Iris

This is gorgeous. For such a delicate perfume it actually lasts longer than I expected. Obviously it's not anywhere near an Amouage or other beastly fragrances...but not every scent needs to be. It's similar to things like "Juliette has a Gun - Not a Perfume" and "Glossier - You"...not exactly the same as...but definitely in the same ballpark. Unfortunately can't compare them side by side because my Glossier/JHAG samples ran out months ago. It's lovely and soft with iris being the main player, supported by some light powdery musks and very subtle spices, but I certainly wouldn't call it spicy. Vetiver is there but just forms part of the structure of, and disappears into the composition. It doesn't have the typical dry inkyness and presence that is associated with the kind of vetiver you get in things like Encre Noire. Definitely get hints of cold fresh olive oil that comes across almost waxy or like fresh paper...in a good way. Nobody would ever smell you and think "damn, someone has been frying stuff in olive oil" I think this will layer great with lots of things. So far I've tried it with Encre Noire À L'Extrême and Ajmal Grey...it works fantastically with both. Actually this reminds me of something from my childhood - a specific kind of rubber used to make some kids toys. Not a synthetic/harsh 'rubber band' type rubber or vulcanised rubber, but a lovely, soft, floral-ish, playdough-ish, brand-new-fabric-ish, smelling type of rubber...that doesn't really smell like what people would usually think of as smelling of 'rubber' at all. edit: A note about the atomiser - It is really quite diffusive, so if you hold it around 15-20cm away you'll get a fine misting of the fragrance - which totally works with this composition - if you, for example, move along your arms or whatever as you spray. On the other hand if you hold the atomiser really close to the skin and spray in one spot you'll get a much heavier, intense experience.

When I first sprayed this is was a harsh peppery Vetiver which was classy yet felt quite masculine. I let it sit for 15 minutes and the magic happened. This soft, delicate but by no means shy or demure iris swept me off my feet. After the top notes settle this is a clean classy powdery iris with the Vetiver just adding a bit of depth and wordiness for the iris to ‘sit on’. Nothing aromatic or earthy. In terms of silage and longevity- first 3 hours it’s strong and I can feel I’m walking in a nice powdery iris bubble. After this I get an extra 3-4 hours of skin scent. Obsessed with this gem! Can use it as a cosy jumper scent, going to bed, brunch or night out. I think it shines in colder weather but I haven’t tried it in warmer seasons to know.

Vetiver is one of those notes I love to wrap myself in. Although it leans slightly toward the masculine side of perfumery, it also carries a distinctive cool refinement, bringing a sense of relaxation, quiet, and calm. A moment to breathe. The same is true of this composition. It opens with soothing, slightly masculine vetiver, beautifully mellowed by powdery iris. As the fragrance unfolds, the iris gradually becomes more prominent, making the composition softer and more feminine. Throughout its evolution, it retains an elegant, serene, and beautifully balanced character that speaks of thoughtful craftsmanship. Longevity and sillage are both clearly perceptible, yet never domineering.

The scent is a sweet blend of pepper and vetiver, balanced by a cloud of powdery iris. I love the iris note of this fragrance, it's floral and makeupy, almost dusty but in the best way possible. I find it feminine but in a very modern way (the fragrance on its whole is unisex, solely the iris accord is giving me feminine vibes). Unfortunately this part disappears rather quickly on my skin leaving only the sweet peppery vetiver base, with maybe hints of violet. It's a cold scent made comforting due to the powdery feeling and the sweetness.

This quickly became one of my most-worn fragrances. To my nose, it's primarily an earthy iris with an olive undertone. The combination may sound odd, but it works exceptionally well. I also pick up black pepper, though it doesn't dominate the composition. It isn't loud and feels very easy to wear on a daily basis, yet there's something quietly addictive about it. The longevity is solid: I can easily smell it throughout the day, and it lingers on clothing.
