Narcotic Flowers

SOTD: The most refined form of finely distilled natural elements dancing beneath fiery clouds. This is one sentimental olfactory art for me. 1000flowers has been on my wishlist since 2016, and the concept behind the brand and the intuition that the in-house artist shared were fascinating. MY TAKE: This scent begins with a fluffy, heady jasmine (ideally grandiflorum blended with sambac) and is followed by a creamy kathgolap note. The drydown has been augmented with a beautiful Mysore sandalwood note, which serves as the primary fixative here. Despite the fact that this is a rather simple composition, with the flow of time; the natural florals are what transcends this to a whole new dimension, blooming their individual facets. This is lovely, a great mood lifter in this lonely world, playing in tune with nature and reality.

beautiful and pretty straightforward with mainly indolic jasmine and some tuberose with a nutty musk in the drydown; none of the other notes are present; I wish fragrances from this house lasted longer and projected more; they are EDT but last like a cologne or toilet water

Names of fragrances quite often strike me as misleading, but this fits the bill pretty darn well. Narcotic flowers is a huge white floral with both indolic jasmine and lush orange blossom amped up to the max. It's an extremely bold fragrance, where the tuberose almost functions as a mitigating factor. Never thought I'd say that about tuberose, but that's how strong the jasmine is in this one. There are also more gentle wafts of osmanthus and the dry down is slightly musky, but there is no doubt that this is about the hypnotic quality of that jasmine. If seductive, white flowers are your game, this is your drug.

Zesty and aeromatic green absinthe opens narcotic flowers almost as a poisonous warning . This is a challenging opening even for hardened perfumistas. Slowly the white florals start to escape absynthes grip and tries to get over the wood seeping up from the base. These are dark narcotic flowers. This isnt a cheerful romp. This is Magie Noires sister that went way of a deadly white floral spell. The green bitter opening stays for a while, so Im not quite sure this is going to win a lot of fans. The heady floral melange fights its way out of the opening but when it finally does, your left with..."eh"...its not stunning and barely pleasant. I really want to like this as these florals are definately in my wheel house, but Im sitting here confused wondering why the perfumer made a literal incarnation of poisonous flowers. Im still waiting for any narcotic to pull me in. Even though this entry did not work for me, I did find her green floral Vert Fleur (not on fragrantica yet) quite stunning. Im reviewing the reformulated one with Notes: Green mandarin. Lime zest Mexico. Absinthe. Jasmine sambac. Osmanthus. Magnolia flower. Ylang ylang. Orange blossom.Fresh water notes. Sandalwood. Cedarwood. Patchouli. Ambroxan. Its changed from a natural perfume to synthetic. That must be what Im detecting.

Absolutely hate it. It could have been a decent (but uninspired) floral but the orange blossom (or orange flower) does truly ugly things on my skin. Sorry for the negative review but it's my personal experience with it. I will never stray from HG Moon Bloom again...

Here's a close cousin of Jean Desprez Bal a Versailles. A smooth confluence of similar notes sans the civet, though it still comes off pleasingly animalic to me. The indolic orange blossom and jasmine, no doubt. There are no bitter green notes to muck it all up, much to my delight. Osmanthus, rose, opoponax all blend in smoothly, swirling about in what is indeed a narcotic floral cloud that could easily transition from spring to summer to autumn, but I would give it a rest in winter. Warm, not cozy. I love this.
