Moon Bloom

I still am not sure about this one yet. I was actually trying to find a substitute for my darling Sergé Lutens Datura Niór. I'm not searching for a dupe of SLDN. Just a new perfume replacement of that type of scent. Since it's now discontinued.BTW; This smells absolutely NOTHING like it. It's closer to Criminelle. (Even then not exactly). It's a thick, heavy, gorgeous, & heady tuberose. There's a big bite of the green in the initial application. But, not always. The silage is pretty decent if you like your perfume strong. I wouldn't recommend applying this in your car just before driving over to pick up your date. Especially with windows up. LoL. ( He had such a headache) As it can be potent with a heavy hand. I'm disappointed in the longevity of this. Which is why I rated it overpriced. Quality is there. From bottle to juice. The perfume is well done if you like things like Serge Lutens Criminelle, Fracas, Carnal flower, Nartique perfumes like that. The initial initial application/blast is weird. I get thick florals, mainly tuberose, spices, resins and a bitter green all at once. The green is screechy at first blast. Then in a few it melds together very lovingly. It's very clear there is high quality oils in this. The initial silage is strong. But after that, it's not. It's moderate at best. It's a pretty sexy perfume. Unfortunately, I find it doesn't last long. It's mainly a tuberose scent at it's core. Has some really buttery resins and the spices were very well selected. The green note keeps it from being too heavy. But it's almost as if it doesn't belong there. If that makes sense. But, on me it seems to change every time I wear it. (Three or four times so far). Sometimes it's more spicy and resin. Another time it was a thick heady floral. Other time the green note screams above all else. I would definitely recommend buying a sample of this before you commit to FB. Because it is definitely not the spray it sniff and buy it now kind of perfume. It's really not the type of scent for everyone. You'd definitely have to like heavy tuberose. Like Carnal flowers type. You'd definitely have to wear this throughout the entire day to see how it evolves. Also, you'd need to wear this more than twice to commit. Because it does seem to smell a bit different from beginning to end and from one wearing to another. I do like it. Because I find it interesting and I love thick florals. Because I don't exactly know how it's going to behave that day on me due to it's unpredictability on my skin. I doubt at the price I'd buy a FB. Though the atomizer bottle is absolutely beautiful and I'm a sucker for that femme fatale sort of thing.

About 10-years ago, maybe a bit longer, a close friend was wearing this perfume. She urged me to pick up a bottle, calling it the 'near-perfect white floral'. How silly of me to not listen at the time! I was impressed, for sure, with the scent itself but it was not in my wheelhouse at the time. It was simply too complex for my nose during this point in my life (my senses were definitely a bit whacked from having my youngest around this time). Re-introduced to Moon Bloom Fall of 2023 and my overwhelming feelings have significantly, markedly shifted. Indeed it *is* a near-perfect white floral. Tuberose is certainly the star of the show but jasmine does appear quite strongly as well. This is green tuberose off the rip. Fresh, ripe, and a bit indolic; it is quite cool, refreshing and certainly herbal although it just skirts away from veering sour or overly ripe. The less warm and more 'chilly' herbal aspects do get rounded out quite rapidly once the skin starts to warm ever so mildly. The jasmine does play quite nicely with the 'star' as it were. Remains wonderfully earthy while developing a quite effervescent, albeit mild, sweetness--possibly the coconut, possibly the tropical spices, likely both? Never taking the lead, the jasmine certainly amplifies both spice and cream, and does so for the remainder of wear, at just below surface-level. After about 30-to-40 minutes, everything becomes a bit more sheer, a bit 'lighter'. A bit less dense. There is something that is reminding me of very fresh, very delicate beeswax (perhaps this is the ylang ylang?). After 1.5-2 hours, while still delicate overall, it starts to become much more sultry and balmy. The tropical notes dance beautifully with the now incredibly seductive tuberose. This is a teasy little trickster at times, sometimes quite jovial and playful and other times a bit 'naughty', a bit stern, a bit domineering. And yet remaining altogether innocent. Stunning fragrance, remarkable in how it waxes-and-wanes (just like the moon...?!) between all of the notes in the most harmonious way imaginable. A word of caution: avoid over-spraying.. this thing packs a lovely little punch and the first few minutes will overwhelm you if you got a bit maniacal with initial application.

I am very taken with Hiram Green's creations. Made from all-natural ingredients, but as rich and beautifully composed as high-quality traditional perfume, his scents truly are the best of both worlds. I never had much time for natural perfume, finding it underwhelming and aromatherapy-like with fleeting performance, but Hiram Green has changed my view. Moon Bloom, the earliest offering from this line, is an excellent tuberose scent - rich, creamy and, well, natural. I love tuberose in perfumery - it is perhaps the most classically feminine note. Moon Bloom (a poetic and apt name, as tuberose blooms at night) showcases different facets of this magnificent flower. The tuberose of the opening is green and briefly sharp, very heady - almost overpowering. The green facets alongside the intoxicating waxiness here highlight the duality of tuberose. Clean, slightly powdery jasmine rounds it out beautifully, while remaining in the background. There is a faint hint of warm, sweet spice too. The tuberose mellows as it develops, sweetened by complementary notes. As it develops, ylang ylang joins the white florals, adding tropical sweetness. This tropical quality is enhanced by the creamy, almost vanilla-like coconut note, but it doesn't take over or become cloying (like Goutal Songes EDP - a disappointment for me) - instead, it adds a nice, nuanced sweetness to the later stages of MB, making for a natural progression from the tuberose. This sweet, tropical, white floral phase lasts as it dries down, becoming a soft, powdery skin scent as it fades. Sillage and longevity are moderate. An excellent rendering of tuberose, MB is up there with the best white florals (Fracas, Carnal Flower, French Flower et al.) Deeply pleasant throughout (despite the slightly challenging opening), it is beautiful in the classic sense, timeless and elegant. I wouldn't call the composition groundbreaking, except for the fact that it is all-natural. It isn't as long-lasting as other tuberose scents, but that's likely due to the use of natural ingredients. Superb. 4/5.

Stunning. At first it is a bit green/sour, for me, so I was slightly worried, as I tend to turn fragrances with natural ingredients sourer. However, I had hope and persevered, as it is so utterly photo-realistic and intense, from the very first spray. At the risk of sounding mildly unbalanced, I don't feel like I am wearing a flowery perfume; I feel like I am the flower(s)! ...and miracle of miracles, it has gradually become sweeter on me - not sourer. It's a beautiful, realistic nectar kind of sweetness; not a sugary one. This is a bit like Carnal flower has the potential to be, but nothing like Carnal Flower actually is on me, because it didn't really show up on me, at all. All I really got was a persistent, masculine eucalyptus note - no tuberose, at all. This is more like Carnal Flower became on my boyfriend and what I wanted it to be like on me. It's a feminine version. If you like the idea of Carnal Flower, but didn't like the reality on you, definitely try this. Boyfriend prefers the last perfume I tried (Jimmy Choo Fever), so it may not be a big man-pleaser, but it is a beautiful and sensual experience, nonetheless. He tends to have a pretty sweet tooth, so it's probably that... I think Giorgio and Love Tuberose will remain his favourites on me. But, for me, this is a 10/10. Nearest thing to sticking your nose inside a perfect flower, or flowers, aside from actually doing that. Also, thinking of getting it and trying layering it over Love Tuberose (which I also adore) and seeing what happens... Will probably just turn to a sludge of indeterminate notes, but it's worth a try. Update: By the way, as the honeyed notes kicked in, boyfriend decided he liked it, after all. In fact, he thought it was a different fragrance. So, that just shows you how natural it is and how much it changes. Also, like the name and the fact that even my 1ml sample came with a signed HM card, which I found a really charming and personal touch. :) 10/10.

There are already lots of good reviews for this beauty, but during this dull January here in the UK I'm on a Tuberose kick to cheer myself up and remind me of those warm summer days. So I'm going to review a few perfumes that have a heavy dollop of these luscious flowers. Moon Bloom is completely natural, that coupled with the high dose of one of my top three favourite notes already makes it a likely winner for me. There is also plenty of ylang in here along with the amazing tuberose. Big white creamy luxurious plump, this manages to be steamy whilst also being a little powdery... Tuberose, jasmine and ylang are softly bunched together in a warm, ripe, pollen laden bouquet next to me, as I sit outside of a banana leaf roofed cafe in Bali, they also grow prolifically amongst the hot tropical greens all around the place. Everything glows golden in the sultry evening sunshine. Inside someone is preparing a bowl of sweet steamed rice with coconut milk. That's it, that's what it conjures up for me. I've yet to wear this in the warmth of high summer (I imagine it would go well with some white broderie anglaise/cotton lace and sun-kissed skin), but I'm looking forward to it. However, I have got myself a little hot and steamy whilst wearing this, and just when I thought this all natural had dwindled to a feint, powdery skin scent, some serious body heat and a little perspiration occurred and whoosh - up came a great big steamy cloud of plump, swollen, and yes, engorged creamy flowers again! Goodness gracious me, what a lovely and slightly shocking surprise. There is nothing skanky here though, this is warm and sensual but clean, fleshy yet waxy and ever so slightly soapy. The right word for Moon Bloom is 'gorgeous' and I love it. I don't think I'll have a problem getting through a full bottle (must save some to wear in that much longed for Summer heat though). Edit 28/02/18: Turns out this is a 'Great Long Term Love' for me.
