Goddess of Love & Perfume

Now this is a perfect oakmoss fragrance for me. I usually don't like fruity scents, but I have a weak spot for some (Absolutely Blooming being another, strangely) Strawberry and raspberry have been becoming two of my favourite fruit notes and this contains both, apparently. I get the strawberry, easily, but the raspberry I'm having a hard time detecting. The oakmoss in this is very similar to the oakmoss in Doe In The Snow and, in turn, for me, similar to the oakmoss in 31 Rue Cambon by Chanel. There was something in this that actually reminded me very strongly of Miss Dior (vintage), and I can honestly say that I have no idea why. It's mossy, sweet, peachy and slightly resinous. This creates the perfect fruity chypre to me. Like many of Sarah's scents, these really do smell of absolute quality. I've smelt some niche fragrances and many have fallen flat for me and none of the scents I've tried from 4160 have suffered similarly. This is the fullest of the full that I've tried. A complete love for the vintage style modern beauty.

Goddess of Love & Perfume was my first head-over-heels love from 4160 Tuesdays back in 2017, or so. Not much has changed I sold my old bottle to get new fragrances and missed it too much to bear so brought a new bottle. It's essentially the same although longevity might be a little less than what it was but when it can last up to 30 hours on the skin, who's complaining. I think in between the two bottles I had, the oakmoss concentration had been reduced due to IFRA regulations (Sarah advertised this in her Facebook group, if memory serves correctly) but you wouldn't know this. It smells almost identical. What this is can only be described as a strawberry chypre with violet candies crushed and thrown in for good measure. This reminds vaguely of New York 1955, sans the excess sweetness which has its own charm. A chypre at heart, but bizarre to the point of being unrecognisable to anyone who hasn't tried this - those who have will never forget it.

A huge fruity chypre. It opens with a joyous fizzy sherbet whizz. It smells as if Sarah has torn up the IFRA regs and added a walloping dose of oakmoss - I'm sure she hasn't but this is a full blooded chypre (which makes you realise that is still possible post-IFRA). Yvresse is one of my all time fragrances, but it has been so horribly thinned down in it's current incarnation, and prohibitively expensive in the old champagne-style bottles - I am very happy to have found this to relieve my sorrow. This is like Yvresse's younger sassier sister, drunk on strawberry 20/20 instead of peach bellini.

This is straight up Bal a Versailles, but more wearable. Not sure I like the name, though, because what a naughty, naughty goddess. This is carnal love, btw. Not puppy love. When I first got into perfume 10 years ago this wasn't the genre I liked and I recall not leaving Bal a Versailles a glowing review. But now that I'm living in the South (hello heat and humidity) and staring down the barrel at 50, I look at this genre more fonldy. I.e., Now I like the idea of playing the naughty goddess.

Boozy strawberries mixed with Bal a Versailles and a splash of Rochas Femme. Fruity, warm and spicy. I love it.

Chemistry plays so many tricks. On me, this isn't a bright fruity scent; instead the fruits are dried and the scent is deepened by woodsy notes and heady resins. I saw this compared to Forbidden Games (by Killian) and on me that one is a bright, tart punch of fresh fruit. There is no comparison between the two on my skin, although there should be based on the notes list. Still, I knew this smelled familiar. It took some time and a review of my niche samples, but it turns out that on me this smells strikingly similar to Arabie by Serge Lutens. Arabie is composed of dried fruits, resin, woods, and musk--exactly how my skin interprets this scent. I like the scent, of this fragrance and Arabie. (Just my luck the dupe for this would also a pricey niche offering.) For me both are unisex and perfectly suited to the cooler seasons. I get too much of a smokey/woodsy/incense vibe for warm-weather wear. Not the fizzy fruit punch I expected from the reviews, for me this is a deep earthy scent, all musk and wood, dates and myrrh. It's more reminiscent of an ancient middle eastern marketplace than a modern fruity chypre.

This is just bizarre. I mean, really unconventional ... which I think should be encouraged given that sooo many new perfumes smell so similar to already popular ones. I get a lot of juicy fruit on the verge of rotting--so kind of boozy and festive. But there's also an unpleasant burnt sugar scent that really lingers through the dry-down (vanilla + plums?). I sense only a ghost of the flowers lurking at the edges. I would actually have liked more of them. As someone else said, this perfume has a vintage vibe. It's vintage not only in style, but as if the juice has been sitting in the bottle for 40 years undisturbed. I like the weirdness of it, but I'm not sure I could love this fragrance. It's definitely worth sampling, though. Do not attempt a blind buy!

Ive taken a shine to chypres which has only happened because of Sarahs marvellous creations. She's modernized them and brought them dancing into the 21st century. I do see some similarity with Tarts Knicker Draw but I think this is more of a chypre than TKD which borders on being an oriental. I like the fruity/citrus fragrance tamed by lots of oakmoss, some oppopanax and musk. You feel all grown up when you wear it. Its perfect for formal occasions. Moderate sillage and longevity.

On me, this is delightfully yummy, fizzy, candied berries. Luckily, I presume it's the oakmoss that keeps this from going cloying. I can't say I get too much of the other notes, at least not in a way where any one note stands out more than the rest. This tends to be fairly linear and fades to a skin scent within a few hours. I don't mind re-applying though, it's a wonderful pick-me-up!

This is quite a nice fruity scent, but it's a little TOO close to By Kilian's Forbidden Games (which I already own) for me to get a full bottle. Sarah's creation is a bit more on the citrus/tart/sour side (I think due to the grapefruit and yuzu), whereas Kilian's is richer and sweeter. Also, this one is definitely more chypre. All in all, it's a lovely, full-bodied, woody fruit scent!

There is nothing all that special abut this fragrance. Yes, the strawberry/raspberry notes are nice, but they don't last. It is a "good/not great" scent. It is hard to imagine anyone getting offended in any way by it, but it is hard too to imagine anyone raving about it either. Silage is ok, longevity ok. Ok, I have said enough.

This dry fruity scent is unconventional for me. It is like a delicios candy for me. I didn t regrte purchasing it.

I can understand the comparison to the Lush store smell. It reminds me of Potion, and a little of Karma. I don't think Lush smells like this anymore, but it did in the early 2000's. The note pyramid makes no sense to me at all and neither do the accords, because what I get from this is spicy carnation first and foremost. It's strange. Kind of a muddle to be honest. I haven't found a fragrance I've liked by this house.

I expected more w/ a name like Goddess of love and perfume. It is a nice scent but I think I am sick of fruity/patchouli combo. It has been done to death and I have other fragrances in this scent profile that cost less money.

Not for me. It's sweet, "perfumey" maybe a little powdery. Just felt off to me. I wanted a fruity/peachy/fresh/sweet smell but this missed the mark.

ya ever been to Lush? It’s the same smell.

I really wanted to like this scent. I had been looking for a raspberry scent and saw this one come up, and I thought it sounded great. Like a summer garden, fresh and juicy is what I wanted. Got a sample, sprayed it on my arm, and immediately regretted it. If you have ever walked into a Lush store you know the smell of just everything at once. This the exact smell of this perfume on my body. It was just overwhelming and I couldn't pick up any of the notes, it was just too much.

Goddess of Love opens with a rosy mixed floral composition that gives a vintage impression without being dated. It develops to a powdery, sharp strawberry and raspberry with oak moss. I liked the opening, but the development didn't work for me.

Woody, floral, maybe a little spicy. I second the Lush comparision but I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing. Strange how there's so much fruit and I'm getting none of it . But then.... baby powder?? Like, full on talc. I try to give these things multiple tests and keep it on for as long as possible to see how I feel. I didn't do a full scrub with soap but I had to rinse off as much as possible.

This is strong and unique and I'm always happy to have a chance to sample a fragrance like this even if I don't end up liking it because it's just so nice to test something that is just worlds away from what you smell on a day to day basis. This is a vintage chypre with a big strawberry and supporting raspberry that's like a fruity dusting powder. Fizzy like a bath bomb. I could picture my beautiful, classy grandmother wearing this in the 60s, perhaps while wearing a pink tweed suit. That's not to say it smells like an old lady but very much a lady of a different era. I find it hard to wear because I am definitely not that lady- I think I like more what is considered "modern chypre" because I'm very comfortable with my more broody fruitchoulis, but I will enjoy the sample for some time-travel fun.

I bought this as an extra sample on top of my 7-scent taster set from 4160 Tuesdays (as a perfume/extrait it wasn't available as part of the set) for 8 GBP - a lot of money for a 2.25ml sample so I admit I had high expectations. I'm wearing it now and to be perfectly honest I don't smell any oakmoss (or any moss) but what I smell is a very noticeable 'Lush base' (that scent that underlies most Lush bath products and quite a few of their perfumes) plus a very specific fragrance that took me a while to recall but when I did it was obvious and clear: this smells exactly like the Sex Bomb bath ballistic. Fizzy, fruity, sexy, powdery and all that. What I am most strongly reminded of is the original Agent Provocateur frag. Nice, if not quite my thing, but definitely not worth the money imo.

It is possible my sample is wrong or my nose, but after an initial nail polish scent I get , very briefly , strawberries ( like 30 seconds ) and then the scent changes into something nice and floral that develops into an extremely potent baby powder. I just need to wash it off, simply unbearable. Obviously a very different experience than the other reviewers.

To me this has a similar feel to Tarts Knicker Drawer. I quite liked it but wasn't overly wowed. My daughter said it was okay but not really me! If you haven't smelled Tarts to make a comparison this smells a bit like floral gums sweets. I tend to burn off topnotes fast, which is why this maybe fell a bit flat after a short while.

Strawberries and citrus with oak, sparkling, and more sweet. It's like a deliciois candied sweets but not the cloying type. After a little while it turns like strawberries with burning sesation essense as i can sense burnt woods beside the sour strawberries. Pleasant to be specific and quite good for strawberries lovers.

This was an interesting strawberry chypre vaguely reminiscent of Cartier's Le Panthere but more distinct. I didn't like it on me personally, but I generally am not a fruity perfume person. I think it's more important to say that it had excellent longevity. I still smelled it this morning when I woke up!

Huh. So sheer it’s hard to smell anything. I kind of get citric acid powder and in dry down it’s a tangy slightly powdery floral blend that is pleasant, but overall there’s just nothing marked enough to care about and it’s so hard to smell. Disappointing for something with the title it has.

Just as one reviewer mentioned, this is markedly similar to leutens arabie on me minus some of the extra spicy notes found in that. Goddess smells a little strange on me but is sticking to my skin well. Arabie is worth trying if you wished for Goddess to be amped up with spices.

A fantastic chypre made in true vintage style. Wear with gloves and a suit and enjoy your inner sense of 50s glamour. This has it all and is impossibly feminine. There's oakmoss, vintage musk, roses and peaches. I adored it.

I can’t stop thinking about this one. All these beautiful berries twirling around a center of peach that’s either green or overripe I can’t figure out which (maybe both!) I love it

On my clothes, it’s a very nice vintage-y, gently powdery, bright but balanced scent. Unique and familiar at the same time. On my skin, it’s hair salon/perm solution. What gives.
