Hammersmith Tea & Biscuits

4160 Tuesdays Hammersmith Tea & Biscuits is an aptly named gently cookie-sweet and plenty-fresh fragrance with a healthy but not overpowering tea note, with a slight of bit of hazelnut that just hints at the bakery that is Over the Chocolate Shop, without being too heavy in that respect. It makes for a pleasant, easygoing fragrant experience. I very much liken Hammersmith Tea & Biscuits to Freeway, with Freeway having some of the edgier notes of Los Angeles—namely, booze, cannabis, and especially gasoline/petrol—while HT&B being its gentler, a bit more gourmand-friendly cousin. As with many variations within this house and others, I love having both as options. Hammersmith Tea & Biscuits is sold on the house site as well as great boutiques in the US like Perfumology and Krystal Fragrance, and Indiescents in Canada, very reasonably priced at $135/95 for 100/50ml. This is an easy fragrance to love and probably among the first couple I’d recommend to fans of gourmands, specifically, along with Over the Chocolate Shop and Captured by Candlelight. 8 out of 10

What a lovely tea fragrance. A lot more Tea than Biscuit. I was expecting much more of the Biscuit, especially by looking at the notes. And I also expecting a lot more citrus/lemon from looking at the accords listed above. I am happy to say that this doesn't read as a lemon-tea, and the tea isn't sharp like with many tea perfumes. It is more smooth, and not exactly lactonic or really creamy. It is like a cup of tea with a splash of 2% milk and just a dash of sugar to make it more palatable, but definitely not a "sweet" tea/perfume. Very well-balanced and I think will suit spring/summer perfectly. I was afraid this would be too light but it is a moderate-projector and that suits it perfectly as well. Well done... as it wears I do get a little bit of a "biscuit" coming through (like a breakfast cookie with dried lemon icing), but it is still 75% tea with a side of biscuit. Not overtly floury/biscuity, but enough to add that comfort factor. This is a Sunday-Brunch on a lovely Spring Day type of scent. 8/10

To me, this smells like having a cup of lemon tea with a side of pancakes. Not maple syrup pancakes, but just plain fluffy pancakes. The base is bright, fresh/aromatic and herbal lemon tea. The dough-y pancake note is there and rounds it out keeping it from being too fresh and sharp. It's sweet, but not overly sweet whatsoever. I'm going to love this during the warmer months. But truthfully, I think it can be worn year round. It's a very comforting scent to me. It's light and sits close to the skin so I do have to overspray. But I don't mind.. it's totally worth it! I've become a big fan of this house. The variety of fragrances can be a bit overwhelming so sampling is the way to go. And I'm having a lot of fun doing it. I can't wait to explore more from this house and continue to add more bottles to my collection. Sarah McCartney is truly an artistic perfumer.

I purchased a sample of this fragrance through LuckyScent and BOY am I happy I did!!! From first sniff I got this beautiful early grey tea note that felt so cozy and comforting. I got a bit of citrus, then it opened up to a lovely biscuit and vanilla cream scent. It reminds me of when I used to make my grandma early grey tea and put some french vanilla creamer in there. It perfectly captures what you'd expect from a warm cup of tea. I can understand how some may say this is similar to Afternoon Delight with the tea and pastry note, but that fragrance, to me, is a bit offensive. With Hammersmith Tea & Biscuits, you get a soft, inoffensive, cozy perfume that would be perfect for the fall. I will absolutely purchase a full size bottle (even though the bottle is ugly).

I close my eyes and see myself on a sunny spring day in the kitchen, windows open with a light breeze blowing the sheer drapes. I am sitting at the table with a cup of earl gray tea in front of me and a lemon wedge on a saucer waiting to be squeezed. I squeeze the lemon into my tea while it sprays in the air and now I have lemon juice on my finger tips. The oven timer beeps and I pull out freshly baked lemon scones and let them cool before drizzling them with icing. This is what this fragrance smells like on me. I love it. I usually spray 20 sprays and while it is more intimate than I thought it would be, it is noticeable. A warm hug from a loved one will bring the scent their way. This lasts a good 6-8 hours on me.

The day I received a sample I ordered a fb--the only time I've done that. Needless to say, instant love. I do love gourmands and softer, quieter fragrances and this is both. For me the black tea and biscuits come through with a hint of lemon. The tea smell is realistic, just like opening the canister of loose leaf English Breakfast in my kitchen, a dry leaf smell, not so much brewed. What makes it for me though is the cozy warmth of what smells like natural beeswax, even though not listed in notes. And though it is on the soft side it does last for hours on skin and clothes.

Sarah is a wizard. This smells like, well, tea and biscuits. It’s lemony biscuits that you start eating while the tea cools down enough for you to drink. It settles into the taste of the biscuits dunked into the tea. It’s quiet, yes, but a scent like this feels like it should be. It’s a scent for a very British rainy day, where you’re ensconced under a blanket, watching the rain battering the windows while you sip, nibble, and escape into a book. I don’t know how it works, but this and What I Did On My Holidays are stereotypical Britain in smell form.

This smells like grainy and wheaty biscuits with roasted hazelnuts, warm vanilla, and smoky black tea. It opens with a soft and buttery lemon paired with a creamy oat milk. You get hints of a smoky black tea but it gets enveloped by a nutty and dry roasted hazelnut smell paired with that grainy biscuit aroma, with a sheer layer of sweetness from a light vanilla. To me this is a predominantly flaky pastry biscuit esque scent with a cup of black tea with a heavy dose of oat milk. This is beautifully warm, toasty, cozy, and the perfect level of sweet.

The lemony vanilla scent isn't particularly unique in the sense that many gourmand perfumes claim to have that "lemony dessert" accord. What sets this one apart however, is the savory nuance that balances the sweetness, keeping it from becoming overly cloying or headache-inducing. I get a buttermilk pancake-like saltiness along with a tea note but without any smokiness. For some reason, I also pick up white chocolate and as odd as this combination may sound, it is incredibly comforting.

Oooh nice tea with lemon followed quickly by a bite of a lemon crepe to start. Nuts and a honey/wax show up as well. Overall, definitely sweet and gourmand but with a light touch. Not at all heavy or jammy. Very much enjoying this. Fully settled as a sort of airy lemon cake - creamy vanilla with sweet citrus. Tea lingering around barely. I get the similarity to Lira, but find Lira muskier, less gourmand with florals involved and no tea. Love em both.

science is incredible, with this bottle of chemicals i am able to smell exactly like a lemon snap cookie dipped in black tea. the tea comes through a little stronger at first, then the citrus, then the biscuit, but overall it's a pretty linear tea party scent. all-day longevity with very light sillage, which i think actually really works in it's favor. at no point is it cloying or obtrusive. it's a subtle, airy, personal lil gourmand.

On the blotter, this smells exactly like a certain lemony shortbread cookie, the kind that has granulated sugar on top whose name escapes me. On skin, the scent is more complex: a rich, deep, spicy gourmand, part tea shop, part bakery. Simultaneously mature and elevated, but also playful, something like a cat. I only wish it projected further and lasted longer.

The most realistic biscuit note I've tried. You can literally smell the whole grains. Ginger lemon whole grain biscuits and black tea. Probably the most comforting fragrance in my collection! Edit: the notes here aren't quite right. The website lists ginger, lemon, toasted hazelnuts, black tea, wholemeal flour, and oat milk. (not goat milk!)

A comfort scent par excellence, if you are English and culturally wedded to the concept of tea and biscuits. It is amazingly realistic and makes me want to find a good oat and lemon biscuit recipe. Once the lemon top note has subsided a bit, the drydown is aromatic sweet tea and oatmilk, which is just lovely (and exactly how I take my tea).

Opens with black tea, and a soft smell of wheat. The tea smells like actual tea leaves, like when you open the box of tea bags (English black breakfast tea). After the tea disappears it does become warmer and biscuity - not too sweet biscuits, like Nice biscuits or digestives. I love it. Bought a full bottle.

Beautiful balance between tender creamy sweetness and lovely fresh that comes from citruses and herbs. However, on my skin it turns out to be more tart and herbaceous and less sweet. It really reminds me of an older version of Tea for Two (golden cap). Beautiful! Follow me on IG: scent.guide

This smells like the transition from summer to autumn. It’s citrusy and light enough for summer wear, but I think shines the best in Autumn/ Spring. Oaty lemon cookies and Darjeeling tea with a splash of oat milk. The ginger adds a subtle warmth that just pulls it all together. Unreal.

The first "biscuity" scent I've smelled that legitimately smells like biscuits. The slightest hint of lemon black tea elevates this into something more complex than just plain biscuits. Couldn't stop smelling it, mouthwateringly delicious and edible-smelling. Long-lasting, too!

Gourmand but in the most un-offensive way. Gourmands tend to lean cheap and headache inducing for me, but this is the complete opposite, providing a comforting uplifting scent. The lemon tea and vanilla become grounded by the wheaty notes. Yummy!

finally getting to try this! on first spritz very citrus , i was a little disappointed that it was so lemony and green as I was hoping for a milky tea gourmand. at some point though the lemon disappeared completely and i could just smell cocoa butter, which i could not get out of my head - a nice cocoa butter though like very subtle and creamy. now about 2-3 hours later i am getting wafts of shortbread biscuit smell, i got hints of the ginger and hazelnut too. really yummy baked goods type fragrance - reminding me of the margiela replica one that smells like fresh madeleines. I have not smelt the tea note at all yet but maybe in future wears it will emerge more. in summary the dry down is giving me biscuity heaven, would like more tea and lemon to add that contrast but would i really?
