Paris 1948

A day in the life of a mid-Victorian era gentleman. He starts his day with carefully thorough ablutions. A soft mint toothpaste, creamy lather shaving bar, and a refined peachy citrus cologne that is gone as soon as my nose finds it, and wafts unexpectedly long after I think it's gone. As he promenades, the afternoon late spring sun brings the scent of manicured public gardens, and a sheen of clean, warm, musky sweat. After paying his calls, at the end of a long afternoon, he returns to the spacious coolness of his town manor entrance hall, where the soft sweetness of old woods and high ceilings offer respite from the day. This is lovely. There's an almost "grandma's bathroom" vibe I find enchanting. Does require at least one reapplication throughout the day, but a light hand is fine. Despite my imagery and associations, there is nothing here to make it feel out of place in 2026. I wore this on nursing prac, and it comes across as clean, without the aldehydes , skin notes, and white florals we've come to expect from that vibe. It's elegant, charming, and completely wearable. I can't imagine this being a young person's vibe, lacks the "beast mode" that young people seem to prefer in their fragrances.

I first sampled this at a 4160 Tuesdays Wall of Scent smelling session, after trying vintage Chanel No. 5 and Coty L'Origan. Then we sampled this and it knocked my socks off. Ultra old-fashioned (just up my street) and classy. Like the best fragrances of the early 20th century, I find it practically impossible to discern individual notes. It definitely does contain oakmoss, but it is not a chypre as such. If I try very hard, I can detect peach, basil, rose, hay and oakmoss - but that really doesn't tell you a great deal about how this smells. I can see that this might not be to everyone's taste. It reminds me of a less aldehydic No.5.

I have the opposite perspective of Cherry_Darling, this is a nice oakmoss, if you can get past the peach. Everyone has different tastes! The initial peach schnapps blast calms down almost immediately and lingers as a beautiful top note balance to the base notes. I think this would be a perfect fragrance for a Taurus who likes chypres--it is a truly lovely chypre. This is they way they used to make perfume, it's a delight. My Taurus daughter is too young for this right now, doesn't yet appreciate chypres, but I'm going to keep trying--Yule stocking stuffers every five years! I'm a Capricorn so I need something a little harsher.

Outstanding peach chypre. It is definitely made with love by Sarah McCartney. Classy but really easy to wear both day and night.

Very, very sweet, like a peach sorbet or something, with enough of a chypre undertone to keep it from smelling purely gourmand or like a kid's lip balm scent, and the basil and maybe rosewater or hay notes mean it has a cool edge (like I say, sorbet). Closer to something like Chanel's Cristalle than the more old-school era the '1948' is alluding to. Very nice and good projection/longevity without being headachy and overwhelming. It feels very youthful but I think it'd work well at any age, just not for me - something about this one feels hyper-feminine, which I'm not looking for at the minute.

Peachy and floral and honeyed. I sort of associate chypres with woodiness and big green heavy hitting herbal drama (that I'm 100% here for lol), but this one, while definitely still a chypre, is light and airy - it's sort of everything I'd hoped Mitsouko would smell like on my skin but sadly doesn't. Interesting but effortless and really rather girly. A surprise "like" for me, and perfect for Spring.

I was not sure on the first spritz (quite citrusy) but as soon as the alcohol dried off there remained a lovely deep peachy woody spicey fragrance. It is quite a potent juice and lasts for many hours. I dont find the peach dominates at all.

A lovely light, feminine, peachy chypre. Really debating getting this. The longevity is amazing.

Based upon the scent notes, I thought this would be one of my favorite 4160 Tuesdays scents. Sadly, I find the opening to be a very chemical peach, to the point of being distracting, almost too sweet for my tastes. Sadly, the woody and earthy notes do little to save it for me. Chemically-recreated oakmoss can't begin to come close to the real thing, unfortunately. One thing I feel strongly about is that it is nearly impossible to recreate the oldies but goodies, because of ingredient restrictions, however, it doesn't mean it is impossible to create great modern perfumes out of modern ingredients. Maybe my mistake was in hoping that this WOULD be a true chypre, and on me it is most decidedly not. It is a huge chemical mess on me. Regardless, there are many 4160 Tuesdays scents I love, so surely this is just a chemical mismatch. Others may find it to be more harmonious on them.

My skin doesn't like this at all - it just goes completely flat on me, with peach being one of the strongest notes after some time. I also get something that doesn't quite burn my nostrils but that does warm them up and tickle them, opening my lungs., and then it turns into Plasticine before ultimately fading to plastic. Pity... I'm sure this could work on quite a few people. Just not me.

it doesnt work for me... kinda nauseating, ozonic in a bad way... i cannot pick any particular note, to me it smells like white flowers withering in stale beer.

Peach is one of those notes that can go horribly wrong for my tastes. I often find it far too sickly and, to my nose, cheap smelling. So I'm pleased that the peach here has none of those problems, especially since I've found that when peach is a note, it tends to be the dominant one. I'm fairly sure this peach is synthetic, and it's a good choice here (and I'm not usually a fan of synthetic fruits) because it allows for far more control over it. Added to the citrus, the opening notes take on a fairly aldehydic quality, ever so slightly fizzy. The rose is present, but softly and quietly. The sharply fruity opening doesn't take long to become rich and woody - although the peach holds strong throughout - reminding me a little of Piguet's Visa. This one is a darker, naughtier version though. Where Visa is bright and smiling, Paris 1948 is more shadowy and smirking. The honey is very gentle. It's there, but if you're not a fan of honey, don't be too put off because it's not overly noticeable here. I agree with nexangelus that only one dab is needed of this. It's fairly potent. The sillage is moderate and the longevity is around 7-8 hours.

This is quite a nice peach, if you can get past the oakmoss, I'm not able to most of the time. But the peach does stay throughout, and it's not too mossy - quite earthy, lots of hay and herbalness of basil. All that said I would need to remove the oakmoss and basil to be able to enjoy this one.

This is a herbal, peachy chypre with hints of basil. It's an unusual scent but once I "got" it, I couldn't live without it. It has a wonderfully retro vibe and a mossy, woody finish. Paris 1948 is a gem, and you won't smell like everyone else on the bus! Unless you sit by me.

Looking at the various notes you'd expect a thick, full-bodied perfume. In actual fact this is very light, very breezy, and I'd say very syntetic yet interesting. I could only affirm the peach if pressed and peg it as soapy if really pressed.

For me, the peach top note was also a middle and base note. It isn't a fresh peach, it's a cling peach that has been skinned and poached in syrup, served in a sundae dish.

Nice chypre, really easy to pull of, but nothing that I'd like to have.
