Pirate Queen

Opens strong on the rum. The rum, tobacco and spices combo has a very raisin/dried fruit effect. It then becomes very very woody. Such realistic wood notes that you can literally picture dark vintage furniture with a sticky varnish. As the woody stage ends some earthy, powdery coffee comes through, and I think it's a very artful contrast. The woods fade into leather and sea water. This is my favourite scent I've tried from 4160 tuesdays. It's dark and intimidating and unapologetic. To me it's mainly a woody scent before anything else. The strongest and longest lasting stage is the woods stage. It's a glossy vintage furniture kind of wood rather than more aromatic like sandalwood or fresh like a live tree, and absolutely the kind of worn out sticky varnished table you'd play cards around on a pirate ship. Definitely brings to mind the sound of ships creaking. I love the contrast of the powdery earthy coffee beside the sticky resinous wood. It adds a coolness among the warm of the woods and spices. I'm usually bad at picking up leather notes despite it being one of my favourite smells, but I'm glad to say it appears clearly after the wood fades. Lots of 4160 tuesdays scents have longevity issues but I'm glad this one is one of the good ones, lasts 12 hours and beyond easily.

The opening of this perfume is very sweet, to the point where I contemplated washing it off. The rum and spices were really prominent for the first couple minutes. However, it quickly dried down to a fantastic salty and fresh marine scent which lasted on me all day. I could still smell it 12 hours later without putting my nose to my skin. LOVE this fragrance, exactly what I was looking for in a marine scent.

This is actually mad under rated, super rich dry smell.Imagine you are a pirate sailing the sea, you get thst dry wood smell, the rum makes it smell rich. But every once in a while you get that whiff of the ocean reminding you where you are. I see this better as a dress up scent, overall I would give this a 7.8

Whats a bummer about this perfume is that that deep marine note lasts about as long as it takes to spray it. The rest of it is great too but for something named pirate queen you really want those sea notes to last. I can kind of still smell it a little but it gets overpowered with everything else going on. I smell wood and spices the most. Little bit of leather. So I guess we’re focusing on the peg leg and the boat actual. It’s a heavy fragrance . I wouldn’t wear it in spring or summer. Leans heavily masculine. Update: Weirdly enough the marine part comes back after the woody part dies down a bit. Then its marine form there on out. Kind of like the marine note in squid but without the ink and the sickly sweet rotting smell. You know if squid actually smelled reasonable. Went to bed in this and it was still there in the morning.
