We're Not Out Of The Woods Yet

This to me is a witchy fragrance. It's an elemental fragrance. The clay presents itself from the outset and dominates through to the dry down and beyond. I honestly don't pick up any apricot or patchouli but I guess they were blended to elevate this to a 'fragrance'. Indoors, the clay note becomes a bit cloying on my skin. I think this needs to be worn outdoors in cool weather. A gothic perfume that reminds me of what a cemetery smells like at dusk - cool, damp burial grounds and tombstones.

Opens heavily woody, with fresh sandalwood and pine. There's an incense-y nuance. It fades into a herbal-powdery note. Reminiscent of some kind of powdered medicinal root in an apothecary. I think to reveal the apricot, you have to wear it in hot weather. I wore it out on a hot day and got honey-apricot notes occasionally breaking through. It's a whimsical hippie kind of scent. To me it feels fresh while staying mysterious, making it a good vaguely gothic fragrance for summer and spring. In my mind it paints an image of dancing barefoot in long grass on a summer evening. Definitely will be too earthy for some. Good longevity and silage, lasts 24 hours easily. Although, with this brand, I think longevity and silage depend on the batch. I've had different results from samples vs bottles. Just comes with the territory if indie perfumery.

Another interesting fragrance from 4160s. How do I describe it! If it was a painting it would be a swirling abstract. Materials swirling around you. Dry and dusty yet not dusty. Herbally yet earthy. There is almost a tang of Japanese aromatics. I can imagine an Art lover wearing this. They walk past you in a London art gallery wearing their Yohji Yamamoto outfit. Are they indeed even wearing fragrance? Its unique and restrained. A smartly attired individual from the exotic Far East swishes past you. The same scent but a bit different. The apricot is a bit more evident. Not bad longevity and sillage. I will test again in different conditions.

It’s giving summer camp. 🏕️ It’s earthy nostalgia in a bottle. For me it’s damp grass , arts and crafts in a wood cabin.

A different woody scent altogether. This adds a dampness to the wood, similar to the scent of woods after snowfall. It suggests lichen and leaf mould. An apt name as we are not at all out of the woods but within them. Very aromatic, the scent of wintry outdoor spaces. There is a mentholated chill in its air. It seems a more masculine scent and brings to mind the image of a man coming in from the cold and the scent he brings with him from his work among woods. Somewhere around 30 min the cool air is gone and the woods are generating mild heat, which I suppose is the emergence of amber. It leans a little masculine for me, but an interesting experiment for a woody masculine scent.

The Attar Mitti is really fascinating in this fragrance. The sandalwood/clay combo in the first stage of the wear reminds me less of fresh earth than dry earth, like a cracked red desert floor. The woods and grassy vetiver are dry too, warmed and dried by the sun. The patchouli adds a bit of richness and greenery, a hint of something alive and growing. Then throughout the wear the dryness begins to lift and everything becomes more smooth. This stage is where I get more of a fresh earth and trees vibe and it does actually feel like being in the woods. It's an interesting perfume that takes you through different landscapes. It's not within my typical comfort zone, and might take some time to really figure it out. Also - I don't get any overt apricot and I think it's there more to blend the scent rather than to make it smell like fruit.
