Tonkapeach

I was a little concerned about the mention of “puff pastry,” and cobbler, just because I do not care for bread-like or buttery notes at all, and I also was worried this might skew super gourmand. However, I find this to be much more traditional and old fashioned (in a good way) than I imagined. To me it’s less fruitchouli and more like a very pretty neo chypre, with a prominent and realistic juicy peach note, and a bit of a waxy, makeup accord, which I can’t quite account for, but it’s very nice. I think this would appeal to fans of older, classic fragrances such as Mitsouko. Also as a long time wearer of Gucci Rush, this appealed to me very much. This is not as lactonic, nor as prominent on the patchouli, but Rush sprang to my mind all day when I wore it. This could be Rush’s younger cousin. Edited: wore the sample for 5 days before pulling the trigger on a FB. I like it more every day! This is so freaking good, and the company is absolutely lovely.

The review beneath me is correct this is much like tonkazure but a peach version instead of blueberry. It’s a sweet, juicy, fuzzy peach with champagne on the side and tonka and a tiny smidge of patchouli at the bottom. I also get black current in both of these fragrances. This is almost boozy & jammy like a peach pie with a bit of brandy. The opening is far less jarring on this one than Tonkazure. There’s a weird thing with both of these for me in that there are times when something smells sour and off. I think it’s the champagne because champagne sometimes does this in real life for me. But it only happens sometimes. 90% of the time these are absolutely mouthwatering. I’m not joking these can make me actually salivate a little. I got a full bottle of this and the more I wear it the more I love it. It’s so peachy, so sweet, the tonka base is delicious! If you want a peach gourmand I highly recommend this. 🍑🍑🍑🍑💛💛💛💛

The most photorealistic peach I’ve ever smelled! Peach, warm skin, the aromatic top floral facets of peach, florals, a dry and beautiful patchouli anchor in the base, a soft and clean vanilla holding up the light sweetness. The champagne keeps this from being cloying. It isn’t Mitsouko, or rather, it’s Mitsouko brought into 21st century - sweeter, brighter, rich and deep. Mitsouko is as much about the melancholy woods in fall as spice and the opening peach is a very light wash suggesting everything isn’t the dying sun. Tonkapeach is an early summer day in Georgia with peaches everywhere, sun, champagne, parties. Mr. Gallagher is so gifted as a perfumer of joy. Even in his more somber fragrances (September) as he acknowledges the dying fields he finds maple syrup, light, the woods at noon. Tonkapeach is truly joyful.

Recently I have these reappearing olfactory memories about the perfume my mom used to have: Tresor by Lancôme. I remember these incredibly executed sugary peach notes but since that time the perfume was reformulated so I am looking for contemporary peach forward scent. Tonkapeach has very uplifting peach boozed with tonka notes. They merely developing and it’s staying as a fruit champagne for entire time. It doesn’t have anything dark or dramatic either. Also it’s so concentrated that it stayed on my hand for 2 days. Only thing that on the warm areas of my skin champagne note can become unpleasant. And that’s why I only use it on my wrists.

This is a delicious meaty ripe peach well surrounded with a beautiful and intense Tonka immersed in champagne. I can appreciate the black currant and the pastry accord (this is delicious). The flowers present themselves as a bouquet on my skin. The woods, the musk, and the patchuli round this beautiful amalgamation. Its sillage and performance in general are exquisite. It is sweet but not cloying. I do not own or have tried a perfume that reminds me of this scent. FRUTY/FLORAL: 10/10
