4711 Acqua Colonia Coffee Bean & Vetyver

Amazeballs, this stuff... very addicting like spraysniffshare wrote below! I am not sure what a realistic coffee note in perfumery comes across like, but if someone sprayed this on my wrist without me knowing what it is I would not detect coffee. But then I have not detected coffee either in other fragrances that are supposed to have it (LSG Cafe Tonka I am looking at YOU), it might mean I am a bit anosmic to it, perhaps this is due to being a strong coffee drinker... Anyway, Coffee Bean Vetyver is a delight to spray on as a pick me up in the morning, it is a smooth vetiver, very much unisex. If you are after a longlasting fragrance, you will have to reapply this every 2-3 hours I guess but it seems to last a little longer on clothing. If you can find it, buy it! I saw it at some Galeria Kaufhof, but not all stores carry it even if they have the other ones from the Acqua Colonia series. Now that I have personally stocked up I can recommend it to the larger public without worrying ;)

Fresh ground coffee beans and earthy, grassy vetiver: warm and almost creamy without being sweet. It was difficult to find, even when it was just released, cannot find it at all anymore .. maybe it was only a one season limited edition? A shame if it were: this is a wonderful scent.

in reaction to spraysniffshare: I just bought a discounted 50ml online on a dutch perfume site parfumania.nl (and got a free miniature 4711 pink pepper & grapefruit) edit: after checking again it seems I bought the last one...sorry edit 2: just received the bottle today and first spay made me WOW...so warm and distinguished and surprisingly long lasting on me both coffee and vetiver are good and addictive indeed after few hours still both are there but overall gives me a vanilla feel as well I always associated eau de cologne with light fresh ingredients and not with warm earthy tones so pleasantly surprised

In case anyone is trying to seek out this little gem, it is a limited edition only available at 4711 stores in Cologne, Germany in 50ml bottles. I've check Douglas (the German equivalent of Sephora) across the street from 4711's flagship store, the sales staff there have not even heard of it. But I can assure you all, it does exist! The cologne itself does what it says on the bottle. It starts off with a very realistic blast of coffee and hints of vetiver that veers towards clean smelling instead of earthy. It is simple, not particularly sweet and without any development and phases. Longevity and sillage is similar to other Acqua Colonias; fleeting, delightful and soft. It is a cologne after all but it certainly works a treat as an instant pick me up. Be warned though, it is highly addictive and you would want to keep spraying. I'm not sure what 4711's marketing strategy is by maintaining tight distribution with this one while others in the series are widely available at massive discounts online. In my opinion, more fragrance lovers should experience Coffee and Vetiver.
