4711 Acqua Colonia Intense Wakening Woods Of Scandinavia

It’s such a shame that people don’t shed light on how utterly beautiful this is! I bought a tiny 50 ml of this and regret it, should’ve got the huge 170 ml, coz it’s worth it. Perhaps because of my skin chemistry, this is pulling very green (the fir is very present, which I love) and very tart but rosey. It’s not too overtly masculine, nor feminine. It’s genderless as it gets. It’s crisp, fresh and uplifting, but so very nuanced and balanced. It goes without saying that it doesn’t last very long (about 4 hours, which is IMPRESSIVE as it’s an Eau de Cologne). The olibanum adds a smoky, slightly resinous facet which I love. But it is predominantly a bergamot, fir, rose, osmanthus scent with a dash of olibanum! I don’t detect the coriander at all, whether that’s good or bad, I am not too sure. Please don’t bash 4711 colognes for its longevity. They are not meant to last too long, by design! Do educate yourself on perfume brands, it’s design concepts and etc before you complain about the performance of perfumes... Not everything is designed to be “beast mode”. (I detest that phrase, cringing as I’m writing it too!)

I would wear it any season, but would probably shine the most in spring, summer, and fall. Would wear at the office or hanging out. More of a day scent. I would spray heavy (for me that means 20+, but you do you). I got about 5 hours of projection, and then about 2 more hours of skin scent.

I guess I am a big fan of Geza because I appreciate just about everything he does. His fragrances all have a very clear identity without a synthetic feeling. WWoS is no exception, but I really think the name does not do it justice. This is a very fresh *rose forward* fragrance engulfed in pine air. That being said, it does not smell particularly woody at all to me. This is a rose scent I've been chasing. And it is much stronger than the other 4711s I have tried, so it performs as a proper perfume for me with a nice scent cloud for a good six hours. This to me is a more celebratory day time pine scent, while my others are daily freshening or medicinal. Very happy with it! Update: More rose forward on clothes, but more pine forward on skin which I prefer. My skin is very sensitive to fragrances though, so I can't spray as much as I would like to, sadly.

I don't get any of the Terre d'Hermes that other people are mentioning. To me this reminds me of like snowy pine trees like snowboarding. It doesn't smell like you grabbed a pine tree branch and mashed it up, it still smells like a fragrance but it's got that nature pine tree freshness. Super good for the price and I use it a lot for layering. According to John Le Google this is from the same guy that made Molecule 01 and so it has a lot of Iso E Super in it which makes it great for layering. I would say this is more of a fresh winter/fall/early spring and not summer kind of freshness. It's not like a juicy fruity or oceanic freshness it's a natural plant freshness. First time you spray it might start drying down to a strange smell but just give it time, it really is nice! Love this one #swag :)

I blind-bought this fragrance, feeling a bit worried at first, but as soon as I took the first sniff, I fell in love! It truly surprised me. The rose note is more prominent than I expected, blending with a cool, green, woody scent. Within seconds, it softens beautifully. It reminds me of a serene forest blanketed in snow—calm, subdued, and refreshing Many people compare this fragrance to Terre d'Hermès, but I can’t agree with that. While Terre d'Hermès leans toward fresh grapefruit, earthy vetiver, and wood, giving it a more masculine and classy vibe, this fragrance offers a rose-forward, soft fir-forest scent. It feels more unisex, with none of the classy undertones, grapefruit, or vetiver present in Terre d'Hermès. Though they are very different, I enjoy both. Great purchase!

I start reaching for this gorgeous fragrance whenever the weather starts turning a bit more towards the crisp side. We're heading into early Autumn now, and everything in my garden fits perfectly. The nip in the morning air along with the smell of damp earth and fallen leaves on grass that's still green. Early morning mist that fades away as soon as the sun hits a certain spot reminding you that winter isn't quite here yet.. AC Wakening Woods Of Scandinavia reminds me of a bottled version of my favourite time of year - Autumn. Crisp, clean, yet green and earthy at the same time. This also happens to be a compliment magnet - I can wear expensive fragrance after expensive fragrance for weeks on end, but as soon as this bottle comes out, so do the compliments.

I blind bought this fragrance and let me tell y’all, this is perhaps one of the best fragrances I’ve bought in the past 12 months. The opening is super fresh and inviting but it’s from the mid to the dry down when one begins to experience the sophistication and pure elegance of this gem of a fragrance. I think this could easily be a signature scent especially during the spring, summer and fall seasons, perhaps even winter if it doesn’t get too cold. Both the sillage and longevity are quite surprising but then again, look for the nose behind this fragrance. When people talk about value for money, to me, this is perhaps a great candidate. Should it stay in its current formulation, it will be a repeat purchase for me for sure.

It works well on a lady, especially the heart and dry down-- definitely unisex. It is very well suited for office use, or just for a relaxing day, because it is just a very pleasant fresh, clean scent. It is not at all sultry, not trying to be alluring, but surely a very likable scent. I find myself reaching for this scent very often, that I don't have to think much before choosing it. I find myself to dislike bitter green notes, this one didn't have that which is a big plus. From the opening to the heart to the dry down, each phase is enjoyable. The silage is just right, and lasts alright. I will reapply once in the early afternoon just to enjoy it a bit longer. I have not smelled Terry d'Hermes, can't comment on that.

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Didn't expect this from 4711. Delicious, complex, rich tones, stronger staying power than most 4711 (with the exception of Intense Floral Field...),& unisex. I smell the fir note from beginning and all through the different stages, which I love, citrus was very briefly at spritz, floral in the middle and mingle on to the end, but my male friend seems to smell the citrus for such a long time and not picking up the fir at all, it only goes to show everyone's sense of smell is so different, not just how their body chemical work with the perfume. I smell the floral mix, fir and balsam at the dry down, so delicious!

Far better than I thought it would be. I waited awhile before getting this, thinking the cheap price right out of the gate might be a clue it smelled light and cheap. But it absolutely doesn't. Oh, it's not a heavy woodsy Robert Piguet woodsy fragrance, but it's a woodsy green walk-in-the-woods in the daylight fragrance. (Not a roll around on the forest floor in the dark sort of fragrance either, and yes I've cleansed this description for your consumption.) It lasts about 6 hours on my skin; don't think sillage is all that distinct, but the whole effect is very pleasant.

Beautiful - camphor/fir notes (camphor may be coming from the patchouli - a very dry, light, green sort), touches of incense, a warm rose. A stronger Perles de Lalique. Not that packaging should count but... gorgeous bottle. There is a bit of Portrait of a Lady too - the rose/incense (olibanum?) combination? Light but persistent sillage, like most 4711 scents you almost can’t overspray. I wouldn’t have expected this but the camphorous/fir notes give this a coolness that make it work in summer just as the incense gives it a smolder that makes it winter/autumnal.

It’s a cool, airy, coniferous cologne that smells like opening an old cedar chest while cold forest air enters through the window in early Spring. I’ve been looking for something that would echo my childhood in New England and thought this might be close. It is not the warm sunlight on fallen leaves - it is more silvery than that. Think Maine coastline and spring flowers with lots of mineral notes sitting on resin and pine. I don’t experience the iso-e super as a scent here- just a smoothness between the notes. 7 out of 10.

When I was in college I wore Coriandre by Jean Couturier and loved it - so different from the Lauren and Anais Anais that were prevalent at my school. This was a blind buy based on the description and it is so similar to the way I remember Coriandre (which, of course, might be very different than what it was actually like!) I'm surprisingly delighted by this and think I'll be wearing it all summer. Cool and fresh.

a few years ago, he seemed to me very boring and expressionless.... but recently I bought it at a big discount, and a miracle, it became my favorite for every day... simple, light, smells natural, it's hard to overdo it.... I'm sure the price plays a role... but he became the reason for the evening acquaintance with the girl... although I used it in the morning))

Beautiful scent! Opens with peppermint/menthol, lemon and rose. A bit rose heavy but I love rose. Close up you get a slight rubbery smell. The dry down has a soothing incense note. People loved this one. I don’t think projection is all that great(I easily go nose blind to iso e super). Longevity is a decent 3-4 hrs. Overall, a great scent for short errands.

Love this fresh, beautiful and fougère forest scent!! It’s a bit like if YSL’s Tuxedo had a love child with Hermes’ Terre and birthed a cologne fragrance. Keep in mind this is more a cologne so after 30 min on the skin, it’s rather mild and slightly lower projection but it does last a good 8 hours. 4711 always has such beautiful and interesting scents!!

I hv Terre D'Hermes & Fattan before getting this one. The three are quite similar & different in the same time. The wakening one here does deliver forest morning vibe for it's fir & green floral notes. Great scent profile with nice price, but not very long lasting though. I'd spray 8-10 for enough radiance scent for my nose.

The trifecta of great longevity, excellent sillage, and reasonable price. What's not to love? I don't know, maybe too woody for me, with not enough interest. I just don't love it. I ended up keeping a 10 ml decant and selling the rest of my large bottle. I do love the bottle itself and the scent.

An aromatic, woody, slightly spicy rose. If I had to sum this up in one sentence I'd say it's Terre d'Hermes with rose. Absolutely love it, and you get so much of it with the 5.7oz that I can't resist using it as a room spray whenever I bring it out. Gorgeous bottle, too.

WOW, this is good. Indeed very similar to Perles de Lalique. Earthy, camphorous, patchouli rose. Maybe it is more masculine than Perles but still there is huge resemblance between these two. Lovely bottle, decent longevity and projection especially for 4711.

Simply the best perfume I ever. Very masculine but very different from the average male perfumes. It's expensive but way less than Terre d'Hermes, and still delivers an incredible quality and scent over the day without being too strong. A real voyage.

Coming from Sweden I just had to try this scent. I didn't love it at first but after a few tries I really love it. It is a genuine and unusual scent that is so fresh. I bit masculine but that suits me but maybe not all women.

This is pretty nice. The wet green rose here is kinda similar to ELDO Hermann and lalique perles Dr lalique. Its earthy too and longevity isn't too bad for a 4711. A good offering from 4711

A lovely fragrance. I find it almost Zen like. Calming... reassuring...I think this works in all seasons and is actually one of my most complimented fragrances.

Bright, assertive, wonderful. I wouldn't consider it unisex as it seems decidedly male, but that's a call for individuals to make.

Matches very well with DUDE brand "North Winds" deodorant (cedarleaf, citrus, herbs).

Sweet and spicy. Green and flowery. A guilty pleasure for everyday wear.

Wakening Woods gives a “Springtime in Norway” vibe. I’ve never been to Norway, let alone in its springtime, but that’s what comes to mind. Vikings, yes Vikings. Women Vikings, mostly- adorned with flowers and white linens, and wielding battle axes celebrating the spring equinox. This one is an odd mixture of masculine peppery pine and floral notes. Definitely not a full lumberjack smell, but also not feminine either. I can see what the company was trying to do here in creating a unisex foresting experience, but it’s ultimately not the most successful fragrance in this coniferous/woody genre that I’ve tried. I have to agree with the review below that the use of indole, or “jasmine”, should have been omitted. In this case, it does very little for the fragrance accept add that mild funk to the drydown that clashes oddly with the coniferous, peppery opening. In trying to offset the peppery woods, the jasmine and rose only end up making them seem discordant and a bit screechy. Perhaps that’s where the folks at 4711 Missed an opportunity. More battle axes, and less fresh white linen and flowers would have made this fragrance quite a cause to celebrate. As it sits now, it is a decent woody option for a decent price. Could’ve been great with better blending and/or combination of notes.

I love the Acqua Colonia series in general but this is an obvious standout, both for its infinitely better longevity and projection (6-8 hrs) than most of the rest of the line but also, because to some it will be very familiar, guys in particular. You might recognize this DNA from its similarities to African Leather or Terre D'Hermes. If African Leather was green with citrus and fir or if Terre was less bitter, sharper and coniferous, you'd get Wakening Woods. So yes, it's brash, brisk and sharp. That's the whole idea, this is made to be invigorating. Some may find it a little cleaner-ish, that's the danger of sharp citrus and wood. Given who the perfumer is, I'm guessing there's a lot of Iso E and possibly other aromachemicals here. If you're one of the lucky ones not to associate the scent with cleaner and if you like Terre and African Leather, you'll definitely appreciate it. In the super high heat, it might be a little much, so you'd have to tone down the sprays but in Spring and beginning of Fall, this is very enjoyable. At the very low price for value, this is absolutely worth picking up (discounters!).

Wakening Woods do not remind me of wakening woods (or any woods, really), nor do they remind me of Terre D'Hermes - one could argue that the concept is somewhat similar, but I don't perceive the overall vibe as similar. If anything this cologne slightly reminds me of Dior Homme 2020, with iso e super and some of the aromatics, but it's more unisex, less immediately likeable and more rough around the edges. The focus is shifted away from the woody aspects towards somewhat herbal aspects and the citrus is stronger (and can be perceived as cleaner-ish at the beginning). All of this can be a plus depending on taste - Dior Homme 2020 for me feels like it's trying too hard to be nice and liked and it ends up being kind of boring as a result. Most of all Wakening Woods reminds me of Almdudler, an austrian fizzy soft drink with herbal flavor. It tastes a little bit like an herbal ginger ale, though, similarly to this cologne, I don't think any ginger is present. Overall I'm not exactly blown away, but it is very much wearable, reasonably original and cheap. And the longevity is fine too.

This is like 60% similar to Terre d' Hermes EDT. I think many people would think you're wearing Terre if you were wearing this. If I'd describe the differences between these 2 fragrances, Terre d'Hermes is an orange in the wet soil, Wakening Woods of Scandinavia is a juicy bergamot in the wet soil. They are the most different in the middle phase of fragrance life, there you can tell that Terre has grapefruit, vetiver and more pepper added while Wakening Woods of Scandinavia is more of a green, woody juicy bergamot. Wakening Woods of Scandinavia actually has a beastly performance, being as cheap as it is, this performs like a beast, I was smelling the sweetness off my skin even 24 hours later. One hour after application It's already much stronger than Terre d' Hermes (for which I need to get really close to the skin to smell this one). Overall, this feels like a luscious, juicy but dirty bergamot take on Terre d' Hermes. It improves on performance while being unisex (which Terre d'Hermes really isn't). It gets my recommendation. 7.5/10

I must admit that I was taken primarily by the name of Wakening Woods of Scandinavia and its romantic connotations, but in the back of mine I already kinda knew that it wouldn't be a particularly soulful scent. I compulsively blind bought it, and sure enough, I was right. It's delightful and elevated, much because of the vibrancy of Iso E Super, accented with some rosiness, and reads as a conifer version of Terre d'Hermes. However, I quickly lost interest, it languished in storage for too long and I sold it to someone who would get more appreciation out of it. It's nice, but as I've learned to be more scrupulous about what I purchase, and have become more fastidious in my tastes, it really isn't a moving experience for me. Be that as it may, it would certainly have value to others, especially those who can appreciate Geza Schoen's minimalist approach a la Escentric Molecules in this "spritely enchanted fir forest" context.

This perfume was a disappointment and a great discovery at the same time. Disappointment: it is more feminine than I thought and it lacks woodiness that I imagined would be there, especially pine. I watched many reviews on this fragrance and most of them said that it's masculine leaning, but I disagree. It's a unisex fragrance at it's core though, and should be treated as such. Great discovery: it's a good smelling fragrance, despite being not what I expected initially. It's very fresh and pleasant. More floral and spicy to my nose, with slight woody undertones that I can barely notice. It's cheap (price, not the smell), good quality for what it is, I LOVE the bottle design and it's a good "no brainier" option when you want to throw something light on to smell fresh. Perfect for spring. Anyway, it's a good addition to my small collection and I will use it to work, for hikes or around the house.

When I first sampled it I thought it was way too masculine for my taste, but I found it intriguing anyway. So, after a long time, I ordered a sample kit of all AC Intense fragrances and sampled it again. And guess what, tastes change! Now I find it an absolute delight. It is so refreshing, so clean, so simple and minimalistic, so calming. It does not remind me of anything else I smelled before in a bottle. But it does remind me a cold evening in the Carpathian forests where we used to hike when I was young, with the clean, crisp air and the bright green fir I just loved to hold and rub between my fingers. I so need a full bottle of this. It is an unusual gem. It also reminds me of something I am looking for in my busy everyday life: simplicity, in it's best, truest meaning: getting rid of everything that does not matter in order to be able to fully enjoy what does. Amazing job, Mr Schoen!

4711 Acqua Colonia Intense Wakening Woods Of Scandinavia does not feel very unisex or Scandinavian at all. As for myself I live in Sweden and I probably never ever have smelled anything like this perfume when walking or hunting in the woods. However, my previous work in the Middle-East let me smell this kind of scent, for instance in Cairo and in the Gulf. For me this is an old school oriental scent with spices and wood made for men. And it is not bad at all. I prefer to wear it during daytime or early evening on the weekends in warm weather at times when I feel less formal but not too casual. And it is great for this purpose. The smell is a little sticky and prickly and powerful but it has some attraction to it anyway. For a more mature man. Apply in smaller doses.

A lighter, freshier and more floral take on Terre d'Hermes. I smell roses, a bit of citrus and some indistinguishable woodsy/earthy note. It has nothing to do with scandinavia, more like biking along the flower fields on a warm spring day. It's very light and gentle, definitely not offensive, I think everyone would at least say this is a pleasant scent, but definiely nothing groundbreaking nor innovative. The sillage is pretty bad, can only smell it very close to the skin after half an hour, but it's the kind of scent that won't went stale after being applied to clothes(only tried cotton), so I'd suggest spraying some on your clothes.

Wakening Woods of Scandinavia is a nice cologne. At first, you smell fresh fir and bergamot, which feels really refreshing. As time goes on, warm cedar and earthy vetiver come out, making it feel like you're deep in the woods. Later, a soft musk wraps around you, which is comforting. It really feels like you're on a hike in a Scandinavian forest. It's a mix of Geza Schoen's molecular style—you can easily spot his signature touch. Plus, it's an affordable cologne from a classic brand, which makes it interesting to try. Don't expect something outstanding, but it's definitely worth the price, maybe even 200%!

I'm always a sucker of a combination of pepper and rose notes, even if I don't really know what they have to do with Scandinavia (or woods, for that matter), but unfortunately the dry-down doesn't go well with my skin chemistry; ends up smelling like slightly rancid soap. It's a shame, because this is truly lovely otherwise! /Edit: tried it on my clothes only, and that worked just fine (still slightly soapy, but not at all unpleasantly so), so it really is a skin chemistry issue. Shame 'bout that! It's good otherwise though.

Very nice fragrance. The opening is a strong fir resin, very green. Not mainstream. I love this phase. Later, it turns very earthy. Unfortunately, this stage is the longest. It's not bad, it is well done, just not my taste. I must say, longevity is way better than the other fragrances from 4711. They really improved in this aspect. Sillage is also good. I think this fragrance lends more masculine than feminine or unisex. But would also be ok on a woman. Worth testing if you like green and woody scents. Final note: 8/10

I love when a cheap and cheerful fragrance can surprise me. I bought this and another 4711 - Myrrh and Kumquat - blind after these reviews. Much better than expected, and although it isn't listed above (one commenter mentioned) it definitely has the cold-weather forest vibe of Chanel Paris-Edimburgh, which I love. Nice bite to it, easy to reach for, doesn't last long but I didn't expect it to. Not everything has to have de Marly level longevity (thank goodness, I don't need my fragrance to last through two showers).

Quite good, even really good. Very similar to Roma Uomo Cedro from Laura Biagiotti, just more sharpness. Very, very similar!!! It is freshly ... a bit zesty, but on certain point it turns shortly to a toilet cleaning chemical with lemon accord. I will use it with something basic musky, because as a cologne it will be always there somerhing missing in the base notes. Quick love for no more than 2 hours- a can not understand all of the exaggerations. It is not bad , but all this hype?! Please!

Interesting scent. First off, Geza Schoen is one of my favorite perfumers, and Escentric Molecules is one of my favorite brands so seeing that he was the perfumer for this one made me intrigued. It smells very interesting and to me doesn't smell like your typical green scent. It's very unisex and aims to be natural smelling and versatile without being generic. Nice wear for when you're bored with the typical designers but still want something fresh. 8/10

This is a delight. I get a three-way influence or reference to Perles de Lalique, Terre de Hermes, and a pinch (or splash?) of Chanel Paris-Edinburg. It’s fresh, very bitter and green, and zingy. I don’t get as much “pine” as I do some other kind of evergreen plant like cypress or even arborvitae....like I squeezed a piece of the greenery between my fingers and then spritzed on some Perles de Lalique. I could bathe in this smell.

fir, rose, osmanthus, what a trio. and what a value for the money this little gem is. sophistication pure. and for a 4711 it's really intense, no bullshit. 8/10 don't get terre d'hermes comparison, not even for 5%, but escentric molecule 05 is there.

A like for me but not amazing. The most prominent notes I get are Pine and Rose. It starts off quite bright with a slight mentholic quality but quickly transitions in to darkness. Not that it's a dark or heavy fragrance. It gives me the same depressing vibe that Terre D'Hermes gives off so sadly it's not for me. Rose gives it a slightly old school feel too. Good performance for an Eau De Cologne but still not exactly EDT territory. If you're a fan of TDH you *might* like this one too but it's different enough that you may not. Overall 6.5/10

Oh dear. Unfortunately, my nose seems to read spruce as cedar, and I like/love cedar when paired with plenty of florals but, while I do smell rose, and maybe even benzoin (that I usually love), these notes are not strong enough to entice me to stay. While I've had great success with a bunch of other 4711's, including Jasmine, Blood Orange & Basil, and White Peach & Coriander, Wakening Woods of Scandinavia just doesn't work for me. I'll be de-cluttering this one.

Went on sale, so I had to give it a shot: As some folks have previously mentioned, you can smell a bit of Terre d’Hermes here - all the Iso E Super. Didn’t work for me at all, but my wife ended up loving it. One comparison I haven’t seen anywhere that she and I came to an agreement on: it’s like a cold winter version of Tommy Girl. Not a bad thing, just not my thing.

Zesty fresh, the pink pepper is well-blended. I think I’m smelling lime and pine. As it dries down, the pink pepper becomes more apparent.
