Ozone

Writing this review for the new ozone (2023). A masculine leaning unisex summer fragrance. This fragrance has one of the best scent trails I have ever experienced with more than 8+ hours of longevity. It opens with a blast of citrus with slightly minty undertones, as the top notes fade the coconut + ambroxan in the middle really shine. The mocha isn’t really noticeable but it’s definitely there... it adds a sort of depth to the fragrance which I really love. The coconut isn’t overly sweet or cloying unlike most coconut fragrances and is absolutely superb for somebody who is a fan of coconut! As the middle notes fade the ambergris and patchouli in the base really come forward with the saltiness of the driftwood in the background. This fragrance is very heavy on the ambergris so if you are not a fan of ambergris it is not for you! It’s not your typical summer scent. Notes are: Top notes: Bergamot, Lemon, Lime, Spearmint Middle notes: Ozone / Coconut / Mocha Accord / Ambroxan Base notes: Ethical Ambergris, White Musk, Driftwood, Patchouli. Projection: 8.5/10 (as stated earlier this fragrance has one of the best scent trails I have ever experienced not overly strong but just enough for everyone around to smell you and appreciate your scent!). Longevity: 8.8/10 (Still projects after 8+ hours of wear). Scent: 9.5/10, possibly one of my favourite fragrances of all time. Mass appeal: 7/10, I don’t really think this fragrance is mass appealing due to the unique combination of notes, I could see how some people might really dislike it. Overall: 9/10, One of the best fragrances from one of my favourite houses of all time, this is 1 of 4 Aaron Terence Hughes fragrances I own and will definitely not be my last! An absolute gem that’s very underrated!

This just doesn't hold on to my skin Ozone is a fantastic fresh fragrance, it's an excellent lime scent with a hint of peppermint freshness and a subtle creamy coconut. Closer to skin there's a more noticeable muskiness from the ambergris. I can kind of see the similarities with Virgin Island Water, but this is missing the sugariness of the Creed and the rum note. Unlike the Creed, however, Ozone doesn't have an intolerably screechy lime note that irritates my throat, so I immediately like this better. Perfect scent for spring and especially summer. Performance, on the other hand, is abysmal. Projection and sillage seem to be the same as the rest of his fragrances (that I've tried so far), but longevity is incredibly bad on my skin. Two sprays on my forearm are almost completely gone in less than 2 hours, which is crazy considering the overwhelming majority of votes are in the "long lasting" mark. (EDIT/UPDATE: I wore Ozone again a few weeks later and longevity was excellent, it lasted 12 hours with relative ease. Now I can confirm my claims of poor performance with ATH fragrances were caused by nose blindness. I also adore the scent after a second wear). Worth mentioning I have a 10 ml bottle, which doesn't have a pressurized atomizer like his 50 ml bottles. This wouldn't be the first ATH where I get a shorter longevity than average, but the gap here is gargantuan compared to the others. Like I said in my Raw Cherry review, not sure if his fragrances benefit from further maturation, so I'll keep it in its small cylinder for the time being.

This review is of the "new" formulation available in late 2023. This is joyful, so unique. It's a blast of coconut/lime/mint, electrified with aldehydes and a relatively restrained dose of ambroxan, blended just so. It's far from my well-worn path. To make an analogy to my musical interests, I play acoustic, this is a synthesizer - yet the music is good and I'll be grooving to it. Ozone is unabashedly casual, summery, uplifting, and relaxed. It smells like vacation. As such, definitely a special-purpose fragrance, one I sprayed on with anticipation when a rare warm Saturday in autumn finally came up. I'd never wear this in a professional setting, but I'm grateful to have it as a complement to my usual buttoned-up stuff. This fragrance is pretty linear. Its performance is moderate and definitely on the low end of ATH frags (which tend to be big performers). At spray, its projection is average-to-generous, but at 8.5 hours, it's not much more than a skin scent. I usually only give a 4/5 for frags that smell great but don't quite achieve all-day performance; I'm making an exception here given the clarity of purpose and originality of Ozone. At time of writing, it's my fragrance of choice on a warm day of recreation.

I don't agree with this being a Summer scent, it does have some elements one would attribute to a summer fragrance like the lime, the coconut, a fair amount of ambroxan, drift wood, etc... it sure sounds like a Virgin Island Water type of scent (some people even marked it as a similar fragrance) but this couldn't be further from reality. Ozone does open with an Ozonic vibe, heavy ambrox and a hint of coconut and lime here and there but they won't last for long eventually you'll end up with those moka notes that can be overpowering on a scorching hot summer day. To paint you a picture, I'm wearing it today and my wife just smelled the drydown and ask if I was wearing a Mugler. I wouldn't go as far as comparing this to a Mugler (she did) but I understand where she's coming from, this is creamy, has some coffee vibe... Is it good? it's amazing! I just rather wear this on spring days or beginning of autum where it's still warm or perhaps during a summer evening when it starts to cool off. Performance is real good, it's an ATH so you know what to expect.

I am surprised this one isn’t discussed more. I have the reformulated 2023 and it’s my longest lasting freshie and, off my skin, projects really well without crossing over the edge. And it even works as a fantastic base to layer other fragrances with. I’ve been wearing a lot during this chilly spring and find there’s something new I like each day. It fits somewhere between niche and something more commercial and I didn’t care for my test spray initially so it sat for while. But I’ve soon discovered it’s indispensable. Of the 8 ATH fragrances I’ve tried, this is by far the most wearable day to day. Guapo is ok, but there’s something earthy I can’t do everyday. Maverick is truly inoffensive but doesn’t have that all-season versatility. The ouds are all nice, but for nighttime only. And while I love Homme, that orris note is fierce. Definitely not a grab and go. But Ozone is easy. If there was one I could choose for ATH to make in a 100ml size it would be Ozone.

Ozone was always "okay" for me... until now. Maybe it's the seasonal change, but for me, this didn't work in the summer. It was an automatic "product cleaner" scent. It instantly made me think of someone mopping the floors, and it was an instant nope. But in the winter everything is different. The ozonic notes were always there. But now. I get more of the lime with a hint of coconut and they pull the fragrance in a much better direction. I actually think I'll be wearing this now. PS. ATH fragrances are hard to get in the US, and that makes it pricier. You CAN however find 10ml bottles for roughly $55 on the gray market. And avoid eBay because those guys really like to price gouge.

Aaron Terrence Hughes is an amazing perfumer, using quality natural ingredients and masterful blending of aromachemicals. I also agree that it smells of spearmint gum but that description is not the full picture. The sillage doesnt scream spearmint gum. This is only a facet, imo. The citruses are all very lively, as is usually the case in ATH fragrances. Sweet but not too sweet, just right. Also get a bit of a coconut accord and on the drydown a salt water ocean accord that I suspect is from the ambergris. (I do find it unusual that he uses real ambergris in this but it surely works well.)

Long lasting - yep Compliments - yep Price - hell no!! This is the 1st I have tried from ATH and as much as I love it it's 90 bucks for 10ml now. He discontinues his frags quick and makes purchases unavailable to the US at times. Also many complained about his 50ml bottles breaking during transit for quite some time now. With that being said this is just awesome. Summer in a bottle and the skin note is noticeable. Great Creed VIW alternative as it has more sparkle and shine.

Incredible. I don’t usually blind buy but I make exceptions for the house of ATH since they sell 10ml’s and it has paid off for the second time. Unique, fresh & uplifting. Perfect hot weather scent. As with all ATH fragrances it’s potent; the performance is superb. It lasts much longer than you’d expect for such a fresh fragrance and it leaves a great scent trail. Bought 10ml for £18 which when you consider the performance is a bargain

I bought this thinking it was a fresh & airy summer fragrance, but it's not. It's quite dense and heavy, which I prefer to wear on colder days. I smell lime and coconut on the initial spray, but these fade away quickly leaving a creamy coffee and a sexy musk that lasts very long on my skin and even longer on my clothes. I will be wearing this a lot this Spring. It's a very comforting fragrance.

I really don't like freshies at all. I love this. It's so clean, fresh and invigorating. I keep catching wafts of spearmint (even though it's listed as peppermint) and it's just delightful. Also has a woody kick somewhere in there, kinda reminds me of a minty Allure Homme Sport or Virgin Island Water.

Was not sure on first application but after wearing this and giving it some time I would highly recommend. The blend is rather raw in my humble opinion and it is very addictive. It is this raw blend which gives you layer after layer of varying notes. Amazing longevity and great sillage.

Beast Mode. Fill the room? I freakin' filled the outdoors when I was walking up to my friend's house. Ambroxan, Clean, Coconut, Mint, Cocoa drydown... Major compliments, girls go (coco) nuts. Lasts forever, Hot Summer Boy forever Stay breezy, 10/10

smells like a candied version of Virgin island water, both definitely have a place in the fragrance world but i wish this would be a liiiiittle less sweet

Quite enjoy this one. Airy mint with a hint of lime. Somehow reminds me of PDM Greenly although not as sharp. Strong performance like most from ATH.

That’s unfortunate for you US folks. Here in the UK it’s £18 for 10ml, and it’s worth every penny.

Just received a tester of Ozone... I sprayed it and immediately engaged with my higher self.

Light fresh easy to wear with a good projection!

This is arguably the best smell ATH has created and it has gone under the radar. It’s a unique hit of summer in a bottle. The opening is very minty, like smelling a pack of spearmint gum, but then the coconut begins to come through to balance it out and it’s not nauseatingly powerful like other coconut scents such as Le Beau or Boss Bottled Pacific. The mocha accord is very subtle and not very noticeable to me but the skin accord is definitely there as I get that freshly sun-kissed tone. It’s something a bit different for summer. It’s not zesty and citrusy, or strong pina colada coconut, or sun lotion, it’s in a category of its own. I personally love this fragrance and it makes me think of that time of day in the height of summer when the sun is starting to go down and you still have your sunglasses on, the temperature is starting to get cooler and the smell of your skin is radiating upwards from a day in the rays. Fresh, minty, a little sweet from the coconut. Uplifting and balanced. Try it. Scent: 9/10 Longevity: 8/10 Projection: 8/10 Versatility: 5/10 Price: 7/10 Overall: 7.4/10

I like this fragrance. Im a sucker for Creed virgin island water and had to try this out as it was being compared to it. Yes there are some big elements to it that gives that Creed VIW dna, but at the same time its different. I would say its like Creed VIW but with a designer fragrance element to it, making it more versatile compared to creed VIW. However I would still pick VIW over this as VIW is more sweeter and natural smelling compared to this. If you are considering getting either this or VIW I would say: - Get Ozone if you want a coconut, summer scenting fragrance if you are seeking potential compliments, impress OTHERS, able to wear it more casually and save lots of money! - Get Creed VIW if you want an absolute beautiful smelling scent that is very unique, but is isnt as versatile and that may not get you compliments as the silage isnt the best but will make YOU feel happy about yourself.

Think of VIW with slight ambroxan and a hint of chocolate. This is Ozone. It smells good, however I am slightly disappointed with the blend quality. The notes just don't seem to mesh together at all. The sweet heart greatly conflicts with the tart lime. UPDATE: This review is of the old formulation, have the 2023 formula on the way.

This is outstanding..no words can describe ..i love this scent..especially fresh and peppermint. Good price and everyone can accept it ..my feeling when put on my shirt and my skin just like want to dive into the sea ...fresh and comfortable..i dont like to describe more ..but everyone should have it once in your life...

Delicious lime, coconut and mint concoction. But, as expected, the lime note has a Pledge/Pine Sol essence. Too resemblant for me. Thankfully, with a little bit of time, the lime note hits the undertone as a spicy mint accord takes over. Very nice and unique, but misses the 😍 mark.

Yep, this is very similar to Virgin Island Water, but a slightly better and stronger version of it to me. That mix of coconut, lime, mint and ambroxan is a very refreshing, zesty and slightly sweet cocktail that just works. Great summer, gym and office scent. Easily likeable. 8/10

The new version is a large improvement over the original. I did not like the original at all, it was super synthetic and all of the notes clashed horribly. The new version is much smoother and well blended. Great summer gem and look forward to wearing it in the heat.

Its a pretty scent smooth as silk perfect for the heat like beach days but it definitely doesn't project or last as long as his other fragrances.

Its not bad, but something like Malibu party in the bay is way more interesting

The ozonic note is great. This smells like spearmint gum to me.

i'm reviewing his reformulated version of 'ozone', the 2023 one. in short, ozone was sort of disappointing? it shocked me too, as i love most of aaron's work and find some of his work to be one of the more unique and powerful fragrances out there, but sadly for ozone, the mocha and coconut do not go well together, and the ambroxan was overpowering, giving off a synthetic nuance to it and giving me a headache when smelling it close to my skin, the peppermint and citruses were nice though, and performance was above average, but i had to sell my bottle away because I couldn't love it enough. you're better off spending your money on his other freshies or other freshies from other niche houses. overall, 6/10

How it feels to smell Five gum! I do think this smells pretty pleasant, fresh, almost Mojito like but as for wearing it as a cologne....not really feeling it. Nothing really to dislike about it though, just doesn't wow me.

Sweet fresh mint. Really like it! But I don't feel like it projects that much after an hour sadly. Maybe it will do better in the summer heat.

If you want some ambergis with your ambergis, buy this. At first I thought, ooh, coconut, fresh, ozonic, nice. But no. No no no. Give this time as it is not what it seems at first spray. Once the lovely top notes have gone, the drydown is super strong ambergis with a tiny touch of coconut left. This is sooooo strong, with an animalic projection for hours and hours. Seriously, this stuff projects, and lasts. It’s warm, rich, strong and wintery, please for the sake of those around you do not spray this in summer thinking it’s a light summer freshie. It is not. Just because he managed to get hold of some ‘found’ (ethical?!) real ambergis, doesn’t mean he has to use it all... there’s too much for my liking. It turns what could have been a lovely unisex scent into a masculine one. Oh and it’s nothing like virgin island water, like nowhere near.

A mix of strong lime, ambroxan, and other aromachemicals with an almost minty background. It's airy at first, with the lime really dominating, but the drydown is fairly heavy ambroxan/chemical woods. Like many of Aaron's creations, this one feels unfinished and rough but using "higher quality" aromachemicals than like an Arabian cheapy clone house might use. No screechy, super fake scent but still far from natural smelling (even the lime smells chemical). I get 7-9 hours with moderate projection for a few hours in cold weather. I suspect this would be fairly loud in the summer. A 6.5/10 for me. It just doesn't fit what I'd want in the summer but if you love VIW you might want to try this as it's a modernized take on it, to me.

I have 2 small 10ml bottles of ATH fragrances. Ozone and Boss Bastard. I tried both again today after not liking them the first time like a year ago. I get more notes than I did the first time. First try with Ozone was just sweet tarts mixed with a synthetic mess. Now I can smell the coconut and lime. Both Ozone and Boss bastard seem to use the same synthetic base cause that's all I can really smell besides a hint of tobacco in Boss Bastard and a hint of lime and coconut in Ozone. I really wanted to like these, but honestly, I can't stand them. I'm hesitant to try anything else from the brand cause I'm worried it would just be the same synthetics with hints of other things. Some of the other offerings do sound good on paper.

Honestly, purely talking about the scent, I think it's way overrated, the initial lime seems too artificial and bathroom cleaner type vibe. As for me personally I don't get any conconut, and yet that supposed to be one of the main notes. A little bit cloying and I don't think it's a real summer freshie. It's most definitely not in the league of Virgin Island Water. I'm just glad I got the 10 ml bottle instead of a full blind buy. I think it's also overpriced for what it is. I'd just take all the YouTube reviews with a pinch of salt. Just my honest opinion.

Too much ambroxan.... barf. Maybe it smells good in passing, I could see it pulling compliments... but the wearing experience is terrible. Reminds me of something Xerjoff would make.... and I'm not a fan of theirs. Hard Pass.

It’s a great scent and I can understand the comparisons to VIW however it’s still different in its own way. I love the lime and coconut combination in this and love how strong and fresh that lime smells upon initial spray. You can probably pick up the mint right away but about 10-15 mins that is when you really pick it up. I kind of wish that the mint was toned down a bit and that the fragrance consisted of more woods or had some smoky element to it (at least in the dry down). In terms of longevity, I have purchased the new rebranded/reformulated bottle. I don’t know if it’s easy to go nose blind to this type of scent but for me this starts becoming a skin scent after only a couple of hours unfortunately. I’m definitely not getting the longevity, projection and sillage that others are getting. Maybe because it’s meant to be an inoffensive, safe and light fragrance for the summer? Either way, it’s a great summer scent just wish it performed better personally!

Easily the most versatile and masculine coconut fragrance I have tried to date. Also the best. Most of the others are either too sweet and synthetic, or smell too much like sunscreen. Ozone is much softer and the 'skin' note is actually quite apparent, which is difficult to explain. It smells like your clean skin after you have just had a shower with a nice coconut body wash. The lime and mint in the opening are very strong but again very smooth and 'clean' smelling. Projects nicely for several hours because my girlfriend once complimented me when I had applied this around 3 or 4 hours before. I have the 2023 version and the longevity on skin is around 7 hours, but much longer on clothes as you'd expect. This is the perfect signature scent for a man aged 20-45 who simply wants to smell unique and clean.

A woman walked into the office today and said have you just walked down the corridor because that smell is amazing lol, she wanted to know what it was and she needed some lol. And I was walking home before and I passed a few ladies and one of them said to her friend that I smelt lush ... wow. I have a 10ml of this ozone and spayed about 8 sprays to clothes and neck , I didn’t realise it was so strong as I thought it was a freshie , it’s still pumping off me now 8 hours later . I love coconut but don’t get much of it , I get clean musks and zingy lime and the first hour I smelt a lot of mint kind of toothpaste mint but I liked the mix lol .

My favourite from the house of ATH. Opens with a beautiful lime and spearmint which has a creamy feel, likely due to the coconut. As it dries the mint remains and is joined by what I presume is ambergris and other musks which do genuinely give the feeling of clean skin, but I don't know how that works. Performance is absolutely nuclear and I've had countless compliments whilst wearing this one. Definitely recommend sampling this if you can.

Weird scent that combines ambroxan with coconut/lime/mint (or so it smells). Not one compliment with it. Performance was a little better than average. Waaaay overpriced for the blend quality. ATH is still an amateur perfumer and it shows in his creations. The problem is that he charges Boadicea and Roja prices; which is ridiculous

The amount of compliments I get wearing this is absolutely huge, but as it's powered by large amount of ambroxan, which I can't smell of my own skin, I get only little wafts of citrusy coconut and only if I put my nose where I sprayed it. I'd love to smell what others smell in the passing... Pass for me.

Easily the best summer freshie I've ever smelt. So unique and fresh with the mint in there but also lasts for ages unlike most summer frags. It could also be worn in winter too though because of the warmth that the mocha and woody notes bring Unreal as usual from ATH

VIW on steroids, a bit creamier than VIW and I prefer this. I get why he only does 50ml bottles, as they will last you about as long as a 125ml edp from anywhere else. This is borderline nuclear, a little goes a very long way.

Lasts 24 hours and projects like crazy for me. Like a lot of ATH's work, I find this has a very prominent musk accord that gives the clean skin note. I'm not a fan of it up close, but in the air, it's really nice

What an interesting laundry detergent type scent. I can see how people may like this, but it didn't do it for me. I don't think the ATH line is overly unique for its price point.
