Oud Cuiré

I love this stuff! There are two main notes in this fragrance: Dhanal Oud and Leather. The leather becomes more prominent at the drydown and is almost on the edge of the burnt-leather accord of Tom Ford's "Ombre Leather". The oud is dark, slightliy animalic, but not skanky - as I mentioned above - thick and has the typical "oily" smell of a Dhanal Oud attar. This attar has a very good longevity with a soft projection. I like to use perfumes, mostly attars, before I go to bed and "Oud Cuire" is my favourite one. I apply a dab on my mustache and I am in the arms of Morpheus. Deep, masculine, calming... Thank you AKAF for the great and affordable attars you offer!

This is strictly for oud lovers. I know many people wouldn't like it if they're not into ouds, so better get a small tester sample from the website or try it in the shop like I did. I tested the whole range of ouds that AKAF had on offer and bought 2 oud-heavy ones, sheikh Al faransi and this one. I wrote a review of the former on this website too. This is not like Oud leather from Montale for example, this is the real stuff. It's unapologetic Oud with a background of leather. Sweet notes are present but they're not the main players. It's very thick and syrupy, with excellent longevity. If you like proper Oud, sample this one.

Ooh, this is a seriously addicting leather wood. What I particularly love about it is that it dodges the unbearable enormity and the headache-inducing tendencies of most leather; this is a leather you can wear in summer! It's quiet and woody but lasts and lasts. This will be my recommendation for a leather scent from now on.

I layered this with "musk tahara" from AKAF and the blend was breath taking. The Oud and leather from this one blend really nicely with white musk, lemon, honey and hazelnut from musk tahara. Just thought it's worth sharing.

The oil is very concentrated, dark and thick. The smell is magic and it reminds me of a peaty scotch whisky from the island of Islay a little bit in the opening.

Great oud attar smells like a really expensive oud oil beautiful

This is my second review after realizing how much this resembles of the drydown of Swiss Arabian Dehn el Oudh Malaki that is much more beautiful in the beginning - for me - but becaomes a bit too bitter-dry after a few minutes and I'm left there missing all the promising sweet fruity notes from its beginning. Oud Cuire is less beautiful at the opening with less fruits and sweetness but it's a little bit sweeter and richer after the drydown than SA DeO Malaki in its drydown. Oud Cuiré is lacking that slightly burnt rubbery note that comes and goes for me in the SA fragrance. Anyway, I'm testing this extremely thick and sticky oil again and enjoying it very much. It is a comforting scent, even a before bed scent on me, it can work wonders under more fruity or floral attars but on its own it's the smell of something very natural and real: woods, oud, leather - probably the leather of which horse trappings are made.... it has a quality of calmness and satisfaction. I can't pipoint any fruits or nuts in particular but the oud and leather are tamed with these notes to a point where the overall impression is a lovely and inviting wildness instead of an off putting or scary one. Being an oil, this has not a great projection and sillage but longevity is decent.

It is what the name suggest: oud and leather. The oud is tha rather barnyardy kind but it softens after about half an hour and as mentioned below leather becomes more present as the perfume dries down. This is beautiful on it's own but a great perfume to layering and give depth to a simpler fragrance. Great quality.

Tried hundred of attars and I can, honestly say this is the worst I ever tried. Having to smell this is a punishment, I have never smelt something more unpleasant and offensive than this. If you wanna smell like an old pair of stinky leather shoes, go for it!

This is a nice soft oudy leather that smells similar to Tauers AT but a fraction of the price.
