Double Scoop

I got a surprise sample of this with a full-bottle purchase, and I'm so glad I did! Sweet perfumes usually aren't my thing and a butterscotch note even less so, but the toasted sesame oil and rosemary round it out so beautifully. It's like walking along a busy seafront with a vanilla ice cream cone, while all the surrounding savoury smells dance around it. Or just a really fancy ice cream. Very good sillage and while the sweetness became stronger as it developed on my skin throughout the day, I never found it too cloying in the summer heat. Although I'm enjoying wearing it this season for the nostalgia I can see it being a well-performing and cosy option in the colder months too.

I just got my bottle in the mail today. This is, quite simply, the best vanilla I have ever smelled. I don't personally care for sickly sweet bakery vanillas. What Abel has done is to create a vanilla that is sophisticated without being fussy, with just enough nostalgia without being juvenile. The rosemary and sesame opening offers depth while exercising restraint. Nothing is ever "too much" and there isn't a single stage of this fragrance's evolution that I don't love. 10/10 Abel. This is my new summer favorite.

This might be my favorite vanilla perfume I've ever smelled. The rosemary adds savory depth that somehow makes the vanilla smell more rich. I think it might be the first "ice cream shop air" scent that actually delivers. I want a full bottle so bad but I will really have to decide if its worth it because it truly does not last long. About 2 hours max before I can't smell it. And thats with overspraying my decant, even on clothes. Any other perfume this would be a deal breaker but I looooove the smell so much.

Opens up with a beautiful aromatic rosemary, quite refreshing. The sesame and butterscotch melt together into a ray of sunshine during the last hour of a hot summer day. Has a slight artifical smell about it, which makes it feel strangely comforting, perhaps because it reminds me of the scent of pool inflatables. Gorgeous scent, I just wish it had stronger sillage and longevity. If you don't like gourmands but want to try something a little sweeter, give it a whiff and you might be surprised.

One spray from the sample vial and I ordered a FB- and I’m not typically a gourmand person. This smells extremely nostalgic to me, but I can’t put my finger on exactly what it reminds me of, only that it’s something I remember from the late 80s/early 90s. It’s not cloyingly sweet, it’s nuanced, and it smells warm and comforting. Incredible stuff.

Smells like ice cream with sesame seeds sprinkled on top 🍦Composition is sweet but fluffy and airy. Some warming spices (rosemary?) linger at the back. It is really lovely & cozy scent, but it’s very faint. It reminded me of Mochi Milk by Dedcool.

I really like it... makes me think of Malibu and Coke whilst sitting round the pool on holiday. Don’t think I’ll buy it forever and wouldn’t wear it outside of summer but I’m enjoying it for a while.

I am currently testing this fragrance so my opinions may change but so far: - You definitely get the greenness of the rosemary in the opening, it can be a bit much IMO but provides almost a crispness to the fragrance - It dries down to a nice skin vanilla, still has a touch of the aromatic qualities and doesn't really become an edible gourmand at any point. It's just kind of comforting and lightly sweet - I much prefer the dry down to the opening - At first it is quite strong in a nice way, lasts on the skin but after a couple of hours it kinds of dissipates to a skin scent. I'm on the fence about a full bottle but will use up my decant and see how I like it :) UPDATE: Sometimes you just need to double check the price lol. While I like this, it is not worth 320 CAD to me personally in terms of how much wear I think I would get out of this. For that reason, I'll use up my decant and might just keep a travel size on hand if I really decide I like it enough to wear it more regularly.

Interesting fragrance, perhaps unlike anything that I have smelled before. That said, I will need to try it a few times before saying I’m sold. The opening made me think of peppermint vanilla ice cream. As it dried down I could get the butterscotch, which was not unpleasant. I think that I wanted a bit more sesame.

This is just simply not for me. I was hoping for a creamy vanilla, and whilst this exists here, it’s under a herbal blanket of rosemary, sesame and mint. It smells like mint ice cream. I’d prefer to just eat the ice cream and taste it, rather than smell like it. Also, £160 for 50ml. Companies are getting far too comfortable charging large amounts of money for small amounts of liquid. It’s audacious, I’ll give them that.

I will say an unfortunate no for me. I get a weird spiced gritty smell on first sniff that I just can’t get around and it lingers for quite some time before I start to get the vanilla component. I don’t know what I could possibly layer to get over that spiced note. I definitely don’t get any butterscotch.

It's kind of boring, I dunno what I was expecting. It does remind me alot of eilish. Intrigued someone compared it to slice society so I might have to do a side by side tomorrow lol. Longevity is pretty poor, can hardly smell anything by the 2-3 hour

I own Nurture, Green Cedar and Pause from Abel, fragrances I absolutely love. However, I am not a fan of Double Scoop, in comparison to the once I just mentioned this one feels rushed in a way. I am used to more complex, well worked scents from this brand. I was hoping to find some freshness in this vanilla but to me it's very generic, sweet and syrupy. I won't be purchasing a full bottle or finishing my sample unfortunately! But if you are a vanilla lover and into gourmand scents you may like this one.

on paper, this took my breath away. so nostalgic. the exact smell of being inside an ice cream parlour: the cold, silver pozzetti freezer full of ice creams (vanilla & chocolate mint chip) with the glass countertop, mingling also in the air is the sweet smell of fresh waffle cone. this took me right back to an ice cream parlour in st. Armands Circle, Florida. unlike any other ice cream perfume I've smelled (which I love, but those smell sweeter and maybe more like the concept of ice cream rather than the realistic smell of it). on my skin sadly it wasn't quite the same, my chemistry must not be the right match. it went more herbal on me. and then by the hour mark I was desperate to shower and scrub it off. but smelling this on paper was such a delight and really surprising. I'm sad it didn't work on my skin. but I will cherish my sample by using it on paper and sniffing - it really is a trip.

Let me preface by saying I love Abel! But this reminds me of those early 2000s vegan health and wellness YouTubers who cut raw vegetables into the shape of pasta and tried to convince us it was lasagna, sans pasta, cheese, and literally every other ingredient in lasagna. Same concept here- not sure what this is a double scoop of, but it’s surely not the vanilla ice cream in the advertisements. It’s a nice fragrance sans marketing, but it’s simply not what I expected. I gave this to my husband- it smells great on him and the longevity is incredible.
