Tonka Sarrapia Extrait 75

Approximately one week ago, I visited a store to purchase a few colognes. While browsing, I noticed Tonkan Guizan from Rayhaan. I inquired with the salesperson about testing it, and I was immediately captivated by its fragrance. It is truly exceptional. In my mind, my only thought was I must acquire the original from Gurlain. The clone from Rayhaan was so remarkable that it prompted me to spend over $600 for a full bottle of the original. This scent is truly extraordinary and possesses an exceptionally pleasant aroma. It is the most exquisite fragrance I have ever smelled before. I hold this fragrance in high regard, as it is my personal favorite. Despite its status as my favorite fragrance, it is quite expensive. In my opinion, the price may not be justifiable for most individuals. Additionally, the opening of the fragrance is quite harsh. It is predominantly unisex and more suitable for winter. It is not appropriate for summer use. Nevertheless, I do not regret my purchase at all.. Do I like it? Yes Would I wear it? Absolutely Does it last? 7 hours Did it blow me away? Yes Safe blind? Yes Worth the price? No Is it unique? Yes Overall rating: 9.8/10

I’m just getting to know Tonka Sarrapia so this is a first impression. While it is a richer, denser more potent than Tonka Imperiale, this isn’t just Tonka Imperiale as an Extrait- this is a whole different creation. I’ve only sprayed a 1/2 spray on each wrist (I purchased a 45/50ml from another Guerlain collector part payment, part trade) I’m always so afraid to use up the ones I love. Anyway, those 1/2 sprays are beastly!!! like the color of the liquid, dark amber- the fragrance is potent and rich. So much depth, on my skin for the first hour there is an almost metallic hue to the coumarin. I don’t get the herbal facets like Tonka Imperiale and this is nothing like Shalimar Millesime Tonka which when smelling along side Sarrapia is a bergamot overload! I do pick up some dry tobacco and hay, the spices in the opening are a bit smoky. As Sarrapia warms on my skin, it’s becoming more creamy, more vanillic and more nutty. The spices are starting to warm and I’m getting a custard or pudding vibe. I definitely need to give this a full wear test but my goodness, this is magnificent. Will compare with other Tonkas after a full days wear

My first impressions: love! On my skin it’s more vanilla and cocoa forward than tonka and almond. It’s so incredibly well blended: warm, spicy, sweet, creamy. The words smooth, dense and silky immediately come to mind. I think this sits closer to the skin, maybe arms length projection. But the longevity is definitely there. This is probably one of the most chic and sophisticated warm gourmands I’ve ever smelled. I think Tonka can be polarizing, it can lean vintage or gourmand. For example, BDK Velvet Tonka feels very vintage to me, while Tonka Sarrapia is more gourmand. I don’t enjoy Tonka Imperiale. TS75 is very special and the epitome of a Tonka scent. After multiple wears: I now notice the ‘spicy vintage’ aspects coming through more and more, while the vanilla and cacao have receded into the background. That was what I loved most about this scent, so this has gone from the top of my ‘to buy’ list to completely off the list. It’s still a masterpiece fragrance, just not for me. At first this reminded me of Feve Gourmand, but after wearing them back to back, I don’t see much resemblance.

This is such an incredible, warm and elegant fragrance. My opinion may be biased because I love everything Guerlain, but if I were to rank all my fragrances (and I would say I have a somewhat decent collection), this is one of my top favorites. This is the "if your house was on fire, which one would you save" fragrance, and I'm not saying that because of the price--this isn't the most expensive in my collection. I just don't get tired of it. Here's why I adore it: Scent: Soft, inviting, sweet but not in an overly gourmand way. It's not a club scent, not for the 20 something year old. It's refined, elegant, creamy, round, smooth, velvet in pale autumn colors. It goes a bit into the almond lotion (think L'Occitane) territory with a light dusting of powdered cocoa, but not all the way. Longevity: ...forever. It's 8:04PM and I sprayed it at 6:30AM before I went to work. I still smell it. Granted it turned into a skin scent around 3-4PM, but It's still going. Projection: Definitely not a beast mode; it will stay in your bubble. Intoxicating!

This is like Roja Diaghilev and Guerlain Feve Gourmande had a child. The most handsome man and sweetest and most comforting woman had a baby and the baby is a messiah 😂 10/10 Update: unfortunately I have to share some bad news after a full wearing of this. It is completely medicinal on me, and not in a good way. It is so familiar, I just can’t put my finger on it. It’s almost like the smell you get when you just had the carpets of your house steam cleaned. Or, the smell of a car wash waiting room. There’s something chemical and industrial about it, in a sweet and syrupy way. It smells good if I burry my nose into my wrist, but the cloud around me is unpleasant. Something else I will note: it reminds me of a cheap, vanilla-scented shampoo my mom always used to use - the kind where even after washing your hair, it will not squeak. It’s not a spiced bourbon vanilla, it’s like a vanilla Yoplait yogurt that almost has a soapy floral thing going on with the dairy taste. Anyways..... to me, it smells awkward on my skin, almost like a soap
