Authentic Man

Who is voting that this one is similar to any Dior Homme?. Makes me think the world is going mad!!!!. This in indeed, similar to Aventus, but not sweet. The mixture of citrus at the top creates a heavy bergamot note at the top. Around 1 hour later, there is a leather note (suede I guess), woody and fresh feel that makes it a bit closer to Aventus when the pineapple note is long gone. And basically that is it. This one has been beaten everywhere and I think on a very unfair way. This has better quality to me than most of the “Aventus Clones”. Much better. It’s very pleasant, and the 2 times I have used it for a complete day, I have received questions about “what cologne are you using”. Trust me, that does not happen every day no matter what you are using, or from what brand. Lasts about 5-6 hours which is more than fine, and really projects great for about 2. It’s not Eros, but common.....it’s use is a different one for sure. Also, the bottle is super nice with its magnetic cap shaped like the Bvlgari Homme and Blv one, and grey denim front logo. My advice....don’t trust the bad reviews and test it yourself!!!!.

If you like the Creed Aventus DNA but you're younger than 30 years old, this is the fragrance to get. Plain and simple. This fragrance is great for young guys that want to smell a bit expensive but without breaking the bank account and without being perceived as an older dude. Abercrombie knows exactly how to produce cheap, yet modern and youthful scents. With that being said, performance is not good. Only lasts 4 hours on skin and doesn't project a lot. However, I think in a collection fragrances that don't last long are required for casual wear. The opening, just like any other cheap fragrance, is harsh and synthetic. But after that, is becomes a lovely woody and citrusy scent that fits a younger individual who's also smart and a "gentleman". I bought this for $20, which is great value for this scent. For less than $30 USD, I'd say I love it, for less than $50 is a likeable scent, maybe worth it; but for over $50 dollars, just try something else

Absolutely LOVE this! I kind of disagree with all the Aventus clone comments. Sure, it's in the ballpark but like Explorer, does enough to stand on its own. Just a clean, fresh, office-safe fragrance. Bright citrus on top, ginger gives it energy and little fizz, just a touch of aromatics in the mid to keep it lively without going full barbershop. The suede and moss at the base is what's really makes this an awesome scent. Just enough bite and darkness to keep this fragrance from going too sweet, gives it a masculine edge (although I think this smells great on women as well.) Performance isn't great but who cares? It's a freshie, smells fantastic when just sprayed on, not expensive. I'm happy to refresh this every 3 hours or as needed. It's cheap but still one of my top 5 spring/summer scents. This one has a place in my office drawer ;)

I can see why people say it's a dupe of aventus, but it is not actually a dupe. It has its own character and I love it. It has a very fresh fruity smell with a touch of wood and suede. The performance on my skin is not that bad at all. I got around 6 hours of longevity and around half an arm sillage. This is a fragrance for people who don't want to choke other people out but still want to have a good smell on their bodies. I think this fragrance is best when a guy invites his girlfriend to come over to his house. For such close contact, this fragrance is amazing. Don't wear this fragrance on the street and expect people to compliment you. I don't think it is highly possible.

Authentic Man Abercrombie & Fitch is a BEAUTIFUL ONE! I'm really impressed - this is high class, soft, stylish and refined fragrance. Yes, it got something from Aventus, but it's different enough. It got aromatic, spicy and green character with modern and fresh, very elegant approach. I also sense a mossy vibe with lovely bergamot. The bottle design is amazing! Very classy in your hand! For some people this will be another Aventus clone, but for me it's not. Kudos to Abercrombie & Fitch for making a fresh scent with so much style. I highly recommend people who like Authentic Man to test Etienne Aigner First Class.

What a fantastic gem if it was not because of the poor sillage. Longevity is good 6+ hours but mostly just a tad above skin scent. Similar to Aventus? Not much. Closer to explorer? Yes, same category as Ralph’s Club too. Authentic starts with citrus and aromatic notes, it’s a wonderful, uplifting composition. I get a slight aftershave vibe but certainly the stars are the lavender, ginger and sage. Not dry and astringent, on the contrary, they are smooth, inviting and fresh as if they were right at the peak of summer. Authentic took me by surprise, I recommend it.

Disregard the haters. This shit is actually really nice. Got a 3.4oz bottle a 15ml Travel and a bottle of body wash for $25 at Burlington. I really dig it. It's similar to CDNIM and Aventus with a nice ginger added, light airy. Can't comment on longevity yet but the smell is really nice. For the price you can't really be mad at it. This gift pack came with a travel sprayer so that's good enough if you need to re-apply some later on in the day. I enjoy this scent profile a lot so it works for me.

Well being the only woman here to review this male fragrance. It's one of two in my collection and I must say this is beautiful. I get a really nice soft lavender on my skin and something else 🤔. I don't care what it is. This is lovely on me and I will continue to wear it as long as I can find it. There's something kind of sexy about smelling masculine sometimes.

I love this scent. Did not expect this from Abercrombie, I mean in terms of choice of smell. Really fresh, some grapefruit and ginger with a manly base that does slightly resemble aventus. Could be stronger though. But still, I love it.

This is brighter than the Explorer. This has more interesting top notes. More suitable for hotter weather. Better sillage than the Explorer. Equal longevity - mediocre.

It is very fresh and smells fantastic! Clearly inspired by Aventus. Very nice bottle with magnetic cap. My partner really likes it, says it smells like green herbs.

Has the freshness of Terre d'Hermes and the mass appeal of Aventus. You cannot go wrong with this. It smells amazing!

Adventus clone with extra ginger.

A perfume as underrated as the house it belongs to, Fierce is known as the flagship fragrance of A&F, but there are several lines that deserve more attention, one of them being Authentic. Some people say Authentic smells like Creed's Aventus, but I don't perceive any similarity, unless you put your nose right up to the atomizer. Perhaps there's a very faint resemblance to Creed's acclaimed perfume, but beyond that, nothing more. Authentic makes two things clear from the opening: it's a men's fragrance and it's a versatile one. A cool, almost metallic grapefruit top note, incredibly sparkling and energizing thanks to the ginger, before settling into the clearwood notes, combined with suede and moss. This is where the perfume becomes more masculine than ever, thanks to a scent of clean, rough skin from the clearwood molecule. To get straight to the point, the perfume has two very distinct phases. The opening, lasting the first two hours, features a scent of grapefruit peel and a slightly bright bergamot, very similar to the citrusy scent of modern room humidifiers. The second phase is a masculine suede and mossy scent reminiscent of the 2000s. It's a very characteristic smell of men's products from that era, such as shower gel, deodorants, and hairsprays like the Ego brand, which has a clean, woody, and herbal scent, somewhere between sensual and virile, like those commercials of a man fresh out of the shower about to shave. It's a versatile, citrusy/clean/soapy masculine scent, neither too formal nor too informal, right in the middle. It lasts a full 6 hours without issue, with strong projection for the first hour. It fades in the second hour and then becomes a skin scent from the third hour onward. Projection isn't its strongest point; it can be somewhat timid depending on body pH. It works well as a signature fragrance and for the office. It's a men's fragrance, primarily for men 25 and older. The scent has a somewhat vintage feel, as it's certainly far removed from the current trend of sweet, youthful perfumes. It's quite likely that the scent might scare off younger men, who might perceive it as something their older brothers or fathers wore. Although it's from 2019, the fragrance is a breath of fresh air for those of us who love classic scents. I currently own all four Authentic fragrances (EDT, Self, Moment, and Night). I must say that Authentic EDT is objectively the best, because it tries to forge its own path. While it doesn't create a fiery atmosphere, it does attempt to establish its own identity. It's a fragrance that feels different, especially now. On my scale, it's a 2 out of 4, because it certainly has its own identity without directly copying anything. However, its weak projection and the fact that the scent can feel somewhat bland compared to other older perfumes that attempt something similar but with more flair and at the same price point detract from its appeal. If you can find it at a good price, it's a worthwhile option.

So do we just deem every fragrance with juicy citrus on top a Creed Aventus clone? I don’t understand it really, or maybe I do. I know some of us have fallen for the Aventus hype and now owning it is almost like some sort of status symbol. If anything comes along smelling similar to it and for less than half the price we feel threatened. We don’t want the commoners walking around smelling like us for only $30! Well, whatever. Big shrug from me. I personally don’t see a good reason for snubbing our noses at mall brands like Abercrombie & Fitch, Guess, and Banana Republic. Their fragrances aren’t aimed at the fragrance enthusiasts, they’re aimed at someone who’s looking to grab a hoodie and some jeans and maybe something that l’ll make them smell nice for less than $50. And like it or not, A & F Authentic smells pretty nice. So let’s get to the smell. This is not Aventus. It’s too citrus forward to be Aventus. There is no hint of smokiness or even the faintest bit of woods. If anything this resembles Jimmy Choo Man Ice which, in turn, smells like Dior Homme Cologne. It’s pleasant. It’s inoffensive. It works well on a mildly warm day. Is it original? No, of course not, but we can’t always be hyper critical of one brand copying another, especially when even the most prestigious niche houses are guilty of the same thing. There are plenty of things to be angry about in the fragrance community. Abercrombie & Fitch Authentic isn’t one of them.

This fragrance comes off as quite linear to me and the only notes my nose detects is a rather dominant ginger and some spicy accord, might be the pink pepper. This is very wearable as a man, but be aware, the fragrance only lasts for about three hours before it vanish from your skin. I’d say it’s great value for money as the price tag is very affordable to most people. To me it’s a nice scent to have in my collection, but it doesn’t bring back any memories, nor is it the one I find myself grabbing the most. I’ve had it for a good eight months and there’s no visible dent to the bottle as I write this review. Summing up: Smell: quite decent, very inoffensive and quite wearable (6/10) Longevity: poor to medium (4/10) Sillage: moderate (3/10) Gender: Male Value for money: 8/10 Caution: This is a ginger scent, and you have to enjoy ginger for it to suit you.

I love the opening of this scent, and find that it projects well for the first 2 hours, with a strong sillage. I have been complemented with this fragrance. Perfect for the office, and for daytime. This will cut through the cold. I would say it is a great springtime choice. While this fragrance performs well for the first 2 - 4 hours, it fades away rapidly thereafter. It is reasonably cheap so I don't have too much of an issue with the performance being weak. I like this scent so much; if it was a 6 - 8 hour scent it would easily rival Aventus. As it stands, I prefer this to BdC EDT, which is a rival grapefruit scent. I would also liken this to Grapefruit by Jo Malone, however the quality of JM is much more apparent. Overall, this is great for the pricepoint. It's a great one to have for casual wear.

I'm not sure where all the negative reviews are coming from. I do agree that the marketing for this is somewhat gimmicky and questionable with reference to Miguel's article on this fragrance, but the scent is a pretty great one. It's a transparent, watery grapefruit note with the slight zing (but not the acridity) of ginger. There's also a light, but present, woody overtone, which I assume is the Clearwood note. I can see why some are comparing it to Aventus - the woodiness here somewhat shares some similarities with Aventus' drydown - but it's not a comparison that would immediately come to mind upon sniffing this. This fragrance is rather linear, but is definitely inoffensive and pleasant. Projection was alright for the hour that I wore it, not amazing, but adequate for all occasions.

If you think this smells like Aventus, then you must be desperate for things to smell like Aventus. The leather note gives it a slight similarity, but that's about it. No pineapple or smokiness. Maybe people mistake the ginger for birch or something? This is absolutely its own thing, and thank goodness. I think we have enough Aventus clones. Now that that's out of the way... This is one of those rare scents that could be used any time of the year, at any occasion. It's much lighter than I was anticipating, both in scent and performance. It has a little more ginger than I'd prefer, but overall I really like it. This line certainly stands out from the rest of Abercrombie's offerings. I will be enjoying this one for a long time to come.

This one is easy to like. And a cheapie too. It’s has some aventus/explorer dna, but being just unique enough, that it doesn’t feel like a clone of anything. You really just can’t go wrong with this one. For me it’s the grapefruit, pink pepper, ginger, lavender and moss that shines through. The bottle though... This is what a TF bottle should look and feel like. Nice glass bottom, with a glass/metal MAGNETIC cap. Nice. The sillage is an arms length Projection last around 3 hours Longevity is about 8 hours, 5 of those being a nice skin scent. It’s unisex, but leaning more male. It’s hard to hate, and easy to wear. Edit: I finally found a great use for this. This will be my travel bag backup scent.

Attention! Fragrantica has totally missed that there is a 2022 flanker out now, Authentic Moment. Moreover.... it’s a utter and complete banger scent, smells mouthwatering good and gave me a good 12 plus hour ride. Already one unsolicited compliment after owning it for 12 hours and I don’t get complimented on frags much anymore. Also another lady friend gave it top marks. Authentic Moment does the safe and familiar Hugo Boss/apple style fragrance - but better in my opinion. It’s a greener edge with neroli working magic from the heart. It is best of the line and imo deserves to outsell all of the millions of Hugo variants. You heard it here first folks ;)

This should be name as Aventus Aqva colonge/tonic without wood, very mild and refreshing,excelent for a hot day or summer evening , extremely compliments magnet from ladies specially where I am living, office,elevator and interview friendly , I am already on second bottle as this one have made my habits bad of getting compliments every single time I wear, go hard on trigger and i mean real hard like 10 sprays and mostly on clothes, yes indeed performance sucks like heavy, better then Zara vibrant edp but this one have some character, if they make real edp of this one that can last 6hrs atleast then easily it will get a lot of attention with small hype.

I sprayed it on and thought it was nice. After a few seconds, I sniffed it again and thought "hmm, where have I smelled this before" and then it hit me. It is very similar to Mont Blanc Explorer. A little fresher and more pepper but its definitely mont blanc explorer. I didn't mention Aventus cause this only has the top notes of Aventus without the mossy dry down of Aventus and that is basically what Explorer smells like to me. Since its a part of this DNA, it definitely smells nice. I think Explorer beats this in the performance area tho. Overall, a really nice fresh lighter take on the Aventus DNA.

I came here to actually defend this perfume as I remember it had really bad comments and ratings at the beginning but as I see, things has changed a little. I am glad for it becouse I really think that it is a nice perfume, it has fresh citrusy green vibe with some sort of woodiness and spice. At least that is what I can smell. It is something different and I really appreciate it in men's colognes becouse they tend to be really boring and all the same. This is a woman's point of view And for ladies - definitely go try women's version of authentic. It is perfect I am not even kidding.

This is a fresh cirtusy scent with ginger. It's not strong in silage or projection and sits on your skin gently and is pretty relaxing non instrusive wear. Good that it's inexpensive. The bottle is solid and nice and the metallic cap is impressive. very stable thick glass, awesome paperweight for the office table too haha. Suitable for home and office but not if u want to impress or get folks around u to smell u. And yea it does have the Adventus vipe. Especially if u layer it with super iso e, the scent profile gets much closer to Adventus, the weak Adventus these days

I'm relatively new to all this and have been looking for a fragrance to wear over the past few weeks. I've now tried 30 frags, and although this one is the weakest (and probably the cheapest) one I've tried, it is also the only one that I enjoy wearing. Perhaps it's because it's so short-lived - I get the pleasure of spraying it on without the worry that I am going to impose a smell on work-mates or loved ones. It seems very simplistic and naive, just a nice fresh burst of ginger to start your day. Excellent!

THis one is nice. Very fresh and light. Smells amazing at the opening. THat grapefruit ginger and bergamote are top notch in this one. Very inoffensive but longevity is the issue. I kinda got that vibe of aventus. THis can be worn for younger crowd and college students. I probably buy this when it get discounted. I really love the smell of this. Carrying a decant will do the trick. I spray on my clothes and it last more than my skin. Overall its a decent fragrance from A&F

I was actually surprised that Abercrombie and Fitch chose this direction. It is, as all the reviews below will tell you, yet another Creed clone. This one smells very similar to Club de Nuit Intense Man in the dry down. The performance is weak, so you're better of with CDNIM. It's cheaper too. The opening of Authentic is better than CDNIM, but it is short lived so that doesn't compensate for the bigger prize tag.

Aventus style cologne with ginger. Its nowhere near Aventus or even Explorer DNA. Ginger dominates here, no smokiness,. or birch. Im getting very slight hints of Fierce. Bottom line its very nice sexy A&F mens cologne, very affordable as well. Youthful. For casual fragrance consumer this is a no brainer. Also check out Authentic Night for cooler weather , that one is even a bigger frag gem.

Sampled it on my arm. Smells very natural and skinline. So musky in an animalic way - yet sweet and light. Something is spicy here, pinkpepper or ginger? It is very defining of the scent, making it ”sharp” not round. I like it because it’s very unique in the designer flora of smells and may serve to break up the conformity in the future. Interesting, not delicious.

I agree with all of those who said this doesn't last. I own a botlle for 1 year, during summer i can feel it maybe for 1-2h, but otherwise i can only feel it for 30mins. It's a wooonderful veeery masculine fugere scent, citrusy&woody, clean fresh barbershop delightful fragrance. For "close encounters" (netflix&chill), you'll smell like a fresh classy rich man

Authentic Man smells pleasant, but is so boring it hardly deserves a review. Another Aventus clone, tweaked for younger people with more sweetness and synthetic ambroxan/Clearwood. Nice bottle and scent, but rather terrible performance. Almost identical to Montblanc Explorer, but at least Explorer lasts longer than this.

Open up similar to Club de Nuit Intense Man in the dry down. It’s all good because I don’t like the opening of CDNIM, but the base is brilliant. This one is lighter and fresher than both CDNIM and Explorer. I have to say that Authentic Man is my favourite between them. Good staying power, about 6 hours on my skin.

A clean freshie, this is a soapy clean ginger scent with muted citrus, low sillage, half synthetic, lasts 3 hours max, 15 sprays minimum. The atomiser is not bad at all like the comments said you just need to press it harder. Half of the budget went to the bottle i guess because it looks like a 200$+ one 5/10

To me this is way closer to the lemonades such as Dior Cologne or even more Jimmy Choo Ice (you can put even Adolfo Domínguez Citrus Cedro in there) than it is to Aventus and Aventus-wanna-be frags. Especially in the opening when you get a blast of that iced lemonade.

I enjoy it and I think it smells similar to banana republic walnut legend and lasts a little longer than that one and a little stronger. The bottle is nice as well. Heavy glass with magnetic cap.

Easy to wear. Pleasant. Not expensive. It will get the job done. I think this is just as good at getting you close to Aventus as CDNIM EDT. And lasts about the same.

I don't know Aventus, but smell-wise this one is better than Explorer, which is also a clone, just smells a bit less synthetic.

Bright top citrus note you get in aventus without and dirtyness

i will start by saying that this is my favourite scent of all the fragrances I have smelt. This smells soooo good. It really saddens me that I am not writing positive review on my favourite smelling fragrance. okay so what's wrong? 1. It doesn't last. I mean at all. maybe an hour. or not even. The base notes are mentioned here in this site but they are non existant. I can't even smell the middle notes. 2. After reaching around 30% of the bottle, I started smelling really strong alcohol smell while spraying and can only smell the scent few seconds after. 3. The atomiser is very weak. I spray twice or even thrice on each spot because the fragrance and atomiser both are very weak. And after 6 or 7 sprays, the perfume just blocks the atomiser hole and the perfume collects on the atomiser cap and I wet my finger tips with the perfume. 4. More on atomiser, I can't fill my travel atomiser with this fragrance because it just can't spray strong enough. I can do that with most of my fragrances and I always carry them on small 5ml travel atomiser. This one and CDNIM are the ones which I have to carry the whole bottle. 5. Abercrombie and fitch Authentic Man costs 50 Australian dollas for 100ml on chemist warehouse which is the cheapest. It costs around 77 dollars on some other sites online. For the price you get a EDT which is very very weak and have to spray many many sprays. I am really unhappy that the female version is an EDP but not the men version. Also, I have Authentic night which lasts very very long. but I can't wear that all the time. I wish this fragrance was an EDP and lasted at least 6 hours. So, unless you really really love the smell, it is not worth it for you. Having said that, I continue to use this fragrance every day at work and reapply around every 2 hours or whenever I get a chance. I have stocked up more bottles of this. So I will continue using this fragrance in the future

Make this fragrance last 8 hours, put "Chanell" as a brand and sell this for £70 easily. Smells very pleasant. I didn't expect something smelling so nice for £15 at Tk Maxx. Unfortunately... 3, maximum 4 hours and it's gone... Reminds me Aventus, but not exactly a clone. It could be a great summer fragrance if it lasts 6-8 hours. But ... It doesn't, so a good frag for going to the supermarket, or to get something done quickly.

Why make a Creed aventus clone, but not solve the main issue of longevity, that prevents people from getting the original? This really smells lovely and I'd have made it a regular purchase if the longevity was great. But max, 4 hours. Don't bother.

citrus fruits, a little lavender and a huge amount of synthetic molecules. very unstable, which allows you to use it as an aftershave. I wouldn't have bought it of my own free will

Hard to describe but I will try, smelt it in Douglas in Dubrovnik 2 days ago: a very soapy fresh that turns spicy and then turns a little to Aventus territory, but only a little like hmmm 25%. Nothing to bragg about, wearable for teens up to 21 years I would say, hard pass for me, really nothing special. L.E. I have Dua 11z on one hand and Authentic on the other and even Dua smells better, so there's your conclusion.
