Black Pepper & Sandalwood

I smelled this yesterday and I wasn't expecting to like it. The initial blast is strong with spices. Then the scent becomes more powdery and woody. The base is musky, sweet, and rich. Overall the effect is extremely warm, complex, and woody. It smells like an authentic sandalwood with your spice cabinet wrapped up with luxury soap and a hint of the holidays! Reminds me of November and December at home with family sitting around a christmas tree with baked goods, candles, incense, and sandalwood with a healthy dose of pepper. HOW did I forget the pepper? It's very prominent throughout, almost making me sneeze at one point. But it's not like fresh cracked pepper or from a shaker. It's just a nice clean masculine spicy vibe on top of the woody dry sandalwood. My girlfriend also really liked it and said she'd wear it. Need to try it again. Seemed to have decent performance also

I've had this for 1 year now and can't believe I never wrote a review. I found this gem in a tiny shop that focuses on wet shaving, and classic, though slightly lesser-known scents for the discerning gentlemen. As MNik stated below, this is not a blind buy, or even a blue fragrance. But it is not a beast to my nose either. Spicy, a bit old school, and great for the cool weather. 3 sprays if you are out with friends for a meal. And possibly more if are not in a closed environment. This lasts 8 hrs plus and the dry down brings out the rich woods and spices. It smells of quality as well as being exotic at the same time. 35 plus regarding age. It also leans formal. If you love sandalwood, give this a try!

This fragrance is so beautiful that I have just ordered a full bottle after only a couple of wearings. The sandalwood is rich, fecund and sweet, with the black pepper adding a slight darkness and "bite". The other notes make this composition delightfully Middle Eastern in output, with the rose and balsams adding a sweet gummy haze, which, for me, make this slightly reminiscent of Tom Ford's Noir. This contains oud and although I wouldn't describe this as "an oud fragrance" per se, it does have a mukhallat quality due to its depth and woody floriental notes. It's a 10/10 for me. Just gorgeous!

After about an hour of sampling various niche fragrances I have finally put my nose on this. This is good! I exclaimed a little bit over enthusiastic. And good it is. When I smell this, it is like a magical water of courage. Something knights would put on before the battle after a brief priest's blessing. I immediately decided to get myself a little 15ml bottle as I was travelling with the hand luggage only, however I can definitely see myself getting a full one. This is completely unisex, it would smell equally as good on a man or a woman. I am looking forward to testing more of this house.

Acca Kappa Blackpepper & Sandalwood (2014) - amber pepper - #lucamaffei created this award winning creation which seemingly started out as a linear fragrance. Blackpepper & Sandalwood - flinty, smoky, mentholated, creamy yet dry, sharp and spicy. I would have been happy with this combination, but as it develops I get Cypriol/Oud-like elements, Amber resins, Leather, Fir Balsams on a Cedarwood plank. It becomes sweeter, minty, pine-like and slightly animalic. A delight to wear and grab bottle if you can find one.
