Black Pepper & Sandalwood

I smelled this yesterday and I wasn't expecting to like it. The initial blast is strong with spices. Then the scent becomes more powdery and woody. The base is musky, sweet, and rich. Overall the effect is extremely warm, complex, and woody. It smells like an authentic sandalwood with your spice cabinet wrapped up with luxury soap and a hint of the holidays! Reminds me of November and December at home with family sitting around a christmas tree with baked goods, candles, incense, and sandalwood with a healthy dose of pepper. HOW did I forget the pepper? It's very prominent throughout, almost making me sneeze at one point. But it's not like fresh cracked pepper or from a shaker. It's just a nice clean masculine spicy vibe on top of the woody dry sandalwood. My girlfriend also really liked it and said she'd wear it. Need to try it again. Seemed to have decent performance also

I've had this for 1 year now and can't believe I never wrote a review. I found this gem in a tiny shop that focuses on wet shaving, and classic, though slightly lesser-known scents for the discerning gentlemen. As MNik stated below, this is not a blind buy, or even a blue fragrance. But it is not a beast to my nose either. Spicy, a bit old school, and great for the cool weather. 3 sprays if you are out with friends for a meal. And possibly more if are not in a closed environment. This lasts 8 hrs plus and the dry down brings out the rich woods and spices. It smells of quality as well as being exotic at the same time. 35 plus regarding age. It also leans formal. If you love sandalwood, give this a try!

This fragrance is so beautiful that I have just ordered a full bottle after only a couple of wearings. The sandalwood is rich, fecund and sweet, with the black pepper adding a slight darkness and "bite". The other notes make this composition delightfully Middle Eastern in output, with the rose and balsams adding a sweet gummy haze, which, for me, make this slightly reminiscent of Tom Ford's Noir. This contains oud and although I wouldn't describe this as "an oud fragrance" per se, it does have a mukhallat quality due to its depth and woody floriental notes. It's a 10/10 for me. Just gorgeous!

After about an hour of sampling various niche fragrances I have finally put my nose on this. This is good! I exclaimed a little bit over enthusiastic. And good it is. When I smell this, it is like a magical water of courage. Something knights would put on before the battle after a brief priest's blessing. I immediately decided to get myself a little 15ml bottle as I was travelling with the hand luggage only, however I can definitely see myself getting a full one. This is completely unisex, it would smell equally as good on a man or a woman. I am looking forward to testing more of this house.

Acca Kappa Blackpepper & Sandalwood (2014) - amber pepper - #lucamaffei created this award winning creation which seemingly started out as a linear fragrance. Blackpepper & Sandalwood - flinty, smoky, mentholated, creamy yet dry, sharp and spicy. I would have been happy with this combination, but as it develops I get Cypriol/Oud-like elements, Amber resins, Leather, Fir Balsams on a Cedarwood plank. It becomes sweeter, minty, pine-like and slightly animalic. A delight to wear and grab bottle if you can find one.

I haven't experienced Creed Royal Oud, but to the reviewer below me: my nose is probably just as "western" as the next "western nose." I don't smell any oud or rose. I smell cloves, sandalwood, pepper, saffron, and other spices. In that order. It's warm, creamy, and almost plasticky, but in a good way. I love this one. I'm hoarding my sample and hope to find a good price on a full bottle one day. Have a good day. That's all for now.

The best of all the Acca Kappa samples I've tried so far - this is wonderful! Cloves is the main smell you get, with the kick of the black pepper and the glorious woodsy cedar and sandalwood. Longevity is great; I was getting 8 hours from just a small dab on my neck. Sillage is moderate. Acca Kappa Black Pepper and Sandalwood, a proper warm spicy wonder.

Achoo! Achoo! Chef on steroids. A wonderful spicy bomb, just wonderful) I have never seen anything like it. Invigorates, motivates, increases productivity. Very airy, very dry, very spicy and woody. A ten)

This one instantly took me somewhere to the past, I am not sure where, but it made my heart rush. This is exotic, mysterious, it acts like a strong invitation to be followed... anywhere. Love.

This scent is hot just like the color of the bottle suggests! This is sexy, attention grabbing and seductive. The performance on my skin is awesome! A high quality niche fragrance!

This reminds me of walking into a garden and gift store and picking up different wafts of humid air from the greenhouses mixed with all the various aromas you catch walking through the gift sections- potpourri, candles, various wood and straw craft materials etc. It definitely has a very warm feel, and it wavers between a humid opening and becomes drier as it wears on the skin. The note pyramid is very accurate, it seems to mostly be a warm spicy and fresh spicy and the dance between the 2. There is a ton of notes in here, and it seems pretty well blended- nothing jumps out as too punchy or noticeable, instead it forms a whole, rather than the sum of it's parts. Although the various spices up front are strong, it's still a pretty smooth ride throughout as it dries down to a smooth natural sandalwood. Overall, a very nice scent that is gender neutral, that doesn't smell synthetic or "perfume-y". However, it does toe the line between more "yankee candle" or room spray. Worth trying out to see how it works to your nose and with your body chemistry if you are into spices and sandalwood. Also, I was curious if this would be similar to Aesop Marrkech Intense, due to sharing spices, sandalwood, rose etc. It's not. It also doesn't really remind me of Wonderwood either. I haven't smelled anything on my fragrance journey quite like it so far.

Black Pepper & Sandalwood is a scent as advertised - warm spices and precious woods. It opens with artemisia & resins, joined by a bag of mixed spices after some minutes. The spices become punchier and more peppery after some time, with the aromatic aspect of cinnamon preventing the mix from becoming too heavy. As the spices reach their zenith, woods & rose join in. Creating a warm, grounding scent that is very comforting to the nose. The dry down is a mix of approachable woods, supported by rose and pepper. The scent becomes smooth and almost creamy in feel. The earthiness and dryness is toned down, and it avoids becoming too austere or masculine. The aroma of cracked pepper remains, now no longer sharp. Performance is fair. Durability is good, projection and sillage moderate. A well blended mix of spices and woods. Worth a travel spray for people looking for this combination in an unisex interpretation. I prefer my spices sharper and my woods more masculine, but Black Pepper & Sandalwood remains a joy to smell anyway.

Just got a sample of this with another purchase last month and finally got to test it for two nights in a row. I've never heard of the AK brand, but let me tell you : if you are a sucker for sandalwood as I am, this will be very interesting to you. I don't get any cedar or oud as mentioned in the pyramid above. What I get is a great black pepper and saffron blast that within an hour transforms into one of the creamiest sandalwoods I've tried along with patchouli and hints of vetiver. Just gorgeous and very relaxing, I could imagine wearing this scent with a glass of whisky in front of the fireplace - if I had one. I just checked the pricerange and it seems to be around US$ 90 for 100 ml, which is quite pricey - but if you love a creamy sandalwood/patchouli combo, I'd say go for it!

A bulging store cupboard, full of spices on an earthy/aromatic woody base. To my taste the spicy accord, heavy with cloves, lingers a little too long , which has a comforting effect in winter, but might feel rather oppressive in warmer weather. I'm reminded of Lutens' Ambre Sultan, without that fragrance's strong vanilla backwash.

This is a very overwhelming scent. The sandalwood and pepper mix into a sour eucalyptus smell. I get ginger, cloves, patchouli and somewhere a little rose and incense but the rest is a just woodsy notes. It is definitely a winter scent. I do like it though. 5/10. My mum loves it :)

Nice and enjoyable warm and spicy. Feels more EDT than EDP to me. Becomes a skin scent very quickly. Very wearable on the bolder side.

This is not a blind buy. Repeat after me, this is not a blind buy. I sampled this with 3 sprays on my hand an oh boy. I didn't hate it but , but it's not something I would wear. I really disliked the opening as it was too strong for me , but after 30 minutes I enjoyed the smoky smell. My mistake was maybe testing it out in summer, but I can see some men over 40 years old wearing this during fall/winter. I see that 34 people voted this as unisex , I don't know what they are smoking, but I would hate this on a women, even if she was a professional wrestler.

was hoping for a creed royal oud experience but got exactly the opposite lol To "western noses" you will just pick up rose and oud and say no thanks

I bought this blind after reading reviews and seeing the impressive ingredient list. In particular I was (and still am) looking for a peppery scent, similar to Wonderwood. There certainly is a fair bit of pepper and citrus in the opening, but for my purposes, BP & S doesn't quite fit the bill. Apart from the sandalwood it's incredibly spicy, mostly from the cinnamon and cloves, giving this a rich North African vibe. For me though it's too sweet and heady, and I do my best to avoid sweetness in fragrances. That said, I do appreciate this scent's ability to transport me to an exotic bazaar. Being objective, this is an impressive scent and I can tell it's of impeccable quality. Sadly, it's not my vibe.

Spicy sweet cloves. It does have that weird peppery cloves cinnamon blend with some balsamic and green notes that makes it sour a bit. Sandalwood, & elemi are there, but i can't sense patchouli at all! After all, it is weird with that sweet pepper cloves spices.

I bought a 15ml in the Muhle shop in London, it's beautiful! It's a very smooth composition and I believe both genders can pull this one off, it's beautiful in cold weather and smelling this walking through London was just a treat, so elegant and sexy. 💪💈

I smelled this in the dep store few years ago and what I got in the opening is a very soft, muted, perhaps creamy, very faint black pepper, but when it settles down on my skin; it turns very metallic. 5/10
