Acqua di Parma Gelsomino Nobile

**Once again I "tip my hat" to the generous ElenaLondon, for the lovely gift of a carded sample of this, which (at the time of this review) is a Harrod's London exclusive. Cheers, dear!** Notes, and description (from AdP sample card): "A unique and sophisticated fragrance that celebrates Calabrian Jasmine, a noble ingredient used in classic perfumery. A blend of: Italian Mandarin, Pink Peppercorns, Tuberose, Orange Blossom, Jasmine, Cedar Wood and Musk." This is the first AdP woman's scent I have sniffed; and I must say it is lovely! Jasmine comes right at you out of the sprayer, not heavy or thick just sweet and heavenly...dreamlike, on a soft nocturnal breeze. The mandarin orange does lend a bit of fruity clarity to this, and the pink pepper adds a subtle warmth and savoriness. It is like Lady Jasmine is strolling through her garden. She is the Mistress here, surrounded by bright, sunny citric blossoms and a slightly smoky tuberose. This perfume makes me feel like I am out of doors on a beautiful temperate evening, perhaps at a Garden Party chatting with lovely people at a very classy villa or country house. Surrounding this soiree are tall strong noble cedar trees, aromatic and warm with shady green boughs and the faintest hint of musk is on the wind, not animalic or "pissy", just natural and enticing. Gelsomino Nobile (noble jasmine) is a very appropriate name for this scent. Naturally beautiful, poised and very very elegant. If you are a jasmine lover, (as I am) you simply MUST smell this refined and stunning take on one of the most used flowers in perfumery, that is anything but common. Sillage: good Longevity: very good Overall: 4/5 On reading the notes (and before actually trying this) my first thought was "Eeh, again...REALLY?!?". After spritzing and sniffing its obviously natural essence oils, combined by a skilled hand and learned nose; I can say this is one of the best homages to jasmine, surrounded by the perfect accents, I have sniffed. AdP is one of those houses that may cost more...but, trust me, it is worth it! NB: This perfume very feminine, but I find it to be just balanced enough to wear myself. Though scents are intrinsically gender-neutral, this is definitely one slanted more towards for the ladies (or a guy who is not ashamed of his "feminine" side): slightly sweet, VERY floral and subtly woody. Amazing...

8 sprays - chest, wrists, neck, hair Initial impression was wow what is that. It strangely smells white floral like Jasmine, and leather, but not the light but sharp leather from perfumes like AP Maitrese. This is strong and projects. My husband was able to smell me about 15 feet away, and asked what the scent was. 5min- the Jasmine/leather note still continues. The cedar provides the scent an incredible masculine edge. Coworker also says it smells lovely. 30 min- the scent is linear but wonderful. It's unique, feminine, but very edgy. 1hr- the Jasmine leather note continues. I can detect the mandarin slightly. 3hrs- Still going strong with the edgy Jasmine, Mandarin, and the leather note that I smell. On a business flight, and the gentleman next to me in the plane says I smell amazing and asks me what I'm wearing. The male air hostess agrees. I've never been complimented this quickly by strangers on a perfume. Probably one of the sexiest scents I've smelled. It reminds me of TM Alien, but with a twist on the Jasmine. It's got the woodiness in the Jasmine like Alien, which I think is from the cedar, but the mandarin orange adds something spectacular. It's equally sexy to alien (if not sexier). 5hr- The scent is still going although a bit lighter and the cedar has come out more while the Jasmine had faded a bit. I'm still in love. 8hr- Scent has died quite a bit but the cedar notes are still there. I can't smell it much, but cohort who was 3 feet away says she smelled it. 10hrs- The fragrance has completely died, or so I thought. I step out outside to get to my hotel, and suddenly smell a metallic Jasmine. Looks like it's still lingering. Smell: 9.5/10 (so fresh, woody, and unique) Sillage: 9/10 (you will leave a trail, and many will get waves of it when you move) Longevity: 9/10 (lasted 10 hours despite scent becoming faint) Conclusion: I love this as Alien was one of my favorite perfumes until too many girls began wearing it. This is equally sexy but with an edge. It's not as long lasting as Alien, however longer lasting than most perfumes. Amazing perfume!

I wish I bought a backup bottle as soon as I found out they were discontinuing this and Iris Nobile. I have all five EDPs from the line and they went and discontinued my two favorites. At least I have Iris backups. I love jasmine in all it's many forms. This is my special "Italian chic" jasmine. It's crisp and not as heady as one would associate with a white floral. While it can be worn all year, it shines best in the warmth of spring and early summer. Of course I blame LVMH for the decision to discontinue. I am going to have to be selective about when I choose to wear this, and do my best to preserve the quality of what remains now. There's no use in complaining about it. LVMH makes decisions based strictly on the bottom line, do once a fragrance is gone, it's gone. I see it is now selling on eBay in the $450 range. That should tell them something about the demand. If they had to "break up the band", any of the remaining three would have been fine for me, especially the Peony and Rose, which smell almost exactly the same in my opinion. EDIT - I see I already commented on my disappointment over this discontinuation. I almost deleted my new entry, but I'll let it stand as a testament to my frustration over the loss! 🌸

I met him in Paris, in the loveliest Le Marais near place des Vosges. He was Italian, but he felt free competing with French. I’ve got a new girlfriend Juliette who Has a Gun, I can play different roles with her, being Romantina, Lady Vengeance or even Mad Madame. And others... This is a crisp, fresh and festive jasmine with some green undertones. Gelsomino Nobile takes me to a royal garden on a chill spring morning, in another era, where time stands still. A lemonade is waiting for me, but I don't care as I'm completely absorbed by a herbarium and some old books. I don't find it vintage, or old school, but there is something timeless and carefree in it and I blame the natural, high quality ingredients. Not creamy, gently sweet-but it's an elusive sweetness, genderless - because I cannot describe the woman wearing this, she's not vulgar, nor is she innocent, she doesn't want to stand out, yet utterly beautiful, you have no choice but to admire her because you cannot get close to her. Not enough complexity for a full bottle, I would have enjoyed more richness to it, although it has a weird aftersmell (I don't know if that's a thing), like the first breath of air is sweet after you take your nose out of your arm. Longevity 6-8h, soft sillage for 2-3h.

Second review: I know I said in the first review that it's not complex enough to buy it. I was wrong, not everything has to be complex. But, I found it at a very good price, almost 50%off, so I ordered it after I sprayed myself with the last drops of my sample. Literally minutes after I confirmed the order, my father calls me to say that my mother is having a stroke and we took her to the hospital. I hope I'm not going to have bad memories with this, mother is ok now, but it was remarkable how I contained myself during the emergency state, and part of it I attribute to Gelsomino, I felt extremely confident and hopeful that everything will be ok, that's just a bad dream that I can control and make things better. 3-4 days after the event I was craving it like crazy, I had olfactory hallucinations/impressions that I smell it without the smell being present. My yard is filled with beautiful honeysuckle now and somehow it reminds me of Gelsomino, without smelling like it.

This is such a gorgeous fragrance, clean and elegant white floral. It's sweet and creamy at the same time, perfect for daytime use but could also work on a summer evening, if applied more generously or potentially layered with something a bit stronger and/or more masculine. I imagine it would smell great blended with a precious woody base. The only downside are the sillage and lasting power. But especially the sillage. Acqua di Parma is on a medium to higher end brand, so I would expect they give a little more "pump" to their fragrances. It's a pity, because this is a great and versatile perfume, smells expensive and it's a very elegant perfume even if casual, so it shouldn't become a skin scent a couple of hours after spraying.

This is one of the few jasmine fragrances that I can wear without smelling utterly feminine. Being as though jasmine is the king of flowers, Gelsomino Nobile is perfect for me, a man.. What a superb blend this is. My skin amps up the base notes. The top notes remain present through the development and this jasmine is decidedly green on my skin. In my opinion, this is one of the most creative jasmine-dominant creations since 24 Faubourg and Alien. Longevity is outstanding, even in Kuwait's heat. The sillage is polite, intoxicating in a breeze. If there was ever a jasmine fragrance for a man to consider, it's Gelsomino Nobile. P.S. - I'm pretty sure it's gorgeous on women, too.. :D

I have several aqua di Parma Nobile line perfumes, also magnolia and peony but Gelsomino is my favorite. It has some sparkle to it that makes it so perfect. Not sure if it’s the pepper or something else but it makes this perfume so distinguished and yes, noble. Sadly, it’s discontinued and my bottle is almost finished too... so I’m trying to save it. And no, I don’t think Grand Ball by Dior is similar. Yeah, white flowers and all but they’re sooooo different. I have an old Grand Bal version (2014 maybe?) and it’s much more sweet and smooth, it’s a night scent where Gelsomino has some peppery freshness and sparkling to it and could be an every day perfume.

Just received a bottle of this beautiful, Italian, golden sunshine! What a gorgeous, clean jasmine. It's jasmine right from the top. Oddly, to me it seems that the mandarin only begins to peek through as it starts to dry down slightly, perhaps augmented by the orange blossom. I do not get any pepper at all! I need to wear this a few more times to get a really sense of the structure, but this has already replaced Ikat Jasmine as my go to summer jasmine scent. I love it!! EDIT - Ooooh! Here comes the tuberose, and she is actually behaving!!

Gelsomino Nobile is such a harmonious scent! I always picture blooming summer garden when I smell it. Perfection. It is sophisticated, timeless and classy perfume that will go well in any season and any time of the day. My new fav :) Update: I'm wearing it very often now and I'm very happy with it. Got a lot of compliments from both women and men. It has moderate projection, so it's never intrusive but it lasts quite long (at least on my skin) and it is classy and very feminine scent. J'adore!

One that made me fall in love with perfume. My large collection started because of this. This is the most beautiful, elegant and feminine scent. Only perfume that got me constant compliment. It is not loud, but people can smell you when they are close. I have not smelled anything similar yet. It smells a bit like Jasmin tea without the bitterness. It only lasts couple hours and I usually spray 8-10. I only have a few drops left of it and I will cherish it forever. I'm so sad it's discontinued.

I am lost for words as this is so beautiful. Thank you to a wonderful Fragrantica member (MrsLetterO) I have been in perfume heaven. She sent me quite a few samples including some from Acqua de Palma a house of perfumes new to me. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful a very feminine classy perfume. It is the first perfume that my husband really likes. I know what I will be asking for birthday and Christmas this year.

The best caption of jasmine, ever!!!!! It intoxicates and transports me to places. Not dirty, not earthy, nothing animalic. Just pure flower of jasmine with all its natural sweetness. How could they discontinue this one??? This and the Iris is best of Parma range, yet those two who had to go?!!! As far as I know there is nothing like this on the market.

Have to say it. The decision to discontinue this and Iris Nobile is a crime. This is a stunning jasmine, and I consider the release of Iris to have been an industry game changer. I have all five, and these two are my faves. Magnolia is in the middle, and I can completely do without Rosa and Peonia if I wasn't such a freak about owing collections!!

Feminine, clean, and oh so floral. It smells like the ultimate garden. There is a soapy quality to it, but its more like you took a walk in a garden after a shower soapy then in the shower lathering up soapy. This for me is an "Oh Wow!" fragrance. Adore it, and would recommend for a summer wedding (as a guest or the bride!)

The best! Perfect jasmine, soft and long-lasting. Super feminine. I wish I had bought this perfume on my trip to Italy this year. It's haunting me ... Well, stupid is who stupid does. Guerlain AA Jasminora is very similar though. I may end up buying it instead, because AdP is very difficult to find in my country. *****

This is my go-to spring/summer scent! It's so fresh and floral, but not overpowering. The mandarin orange and pink pepper give it a lovely brightness, while the jasmine, tuberose and orange blossom create this beautiful, sophisticated floral heart. It lasts all day and gets compliments everywhere I go.

For some reason, it smells like warm creamy jasmine 'tea' to me. Very calming. I don't get that crisp of real flower. It's richer & bold. Last 8 hours with moderate to good projection. Just two sprays is enough to smell myself quite strong for hours. Will get headache if you over spray

This is a very beautiful Jasmine. Period.It is lovely in it's simplicity, a flower garden after the rain. I loved it for the 3 hours I could smell it... then it was GONE.It reminds me of MK Glam Jasmine and I wish I would have saved some pennies and bought the MK!

I am a little saddened by my bottle. I must have stored it in a place close to heat for the longest time before I realised the beauty of gelsomino was gone and I was left with an aldehydic tuberose. Am I gutted or what? I so love this fragrance.

I adore this scent. It's long-lasting - and when I get a whiff of it, I automatically smile. It makes me feel like I'm in an Italian garden! Floral, jasmine and a whiff of peony, but the cedar cools it down, so it's not too sweet. Love.

Today i used it, and i mixed it with Jo Malone Gardenia. I gave a conference and something like 20 women, including my wife, told me that my fragance was amazing... A women parfum? ... Or a parfum for women...? Hahahan ;))

This smells so pretty...perfect combo of notes..I can really smell the mandarin on first spray..drydown is warm, musky and yet clean..to my nose Demachy can do no wrong. New craving!!!

I smell it on Saks... I love it. It evoques a dark mood, maybe i thought in Boudeleire poems. I agree, its blue and cold. I love it.

Pretty well done light neroli fragrance. Italian summer in the country side.

I get a strong blast of mandarin upon spraying Gelsomino Nobile, and the jasmine soon joins in. The jasmine here has a very light touch of indole, and is mostly sweet, clean, with a tinge of green. Unfortunately, the sweetness of jasmine combined with mandarine, translates into hard candy on my skin, which does not feel 'noble' to me in the conventional sense. The 'candy' association dies down after about 2 hours, and a silky bouquet of fresh jasmine and tuberose is unfolded. The fruity aspect is now kept in check. Along with the green tinge, it adorns the jasmine perfectly. Gelsomino Nobile then stays this way through the dry down, only becomes a bit warmer and more musky towards the end. The sillage is moderate to soft, and the longevity is around 10 hours. Gelsomino Nobile is undoubtedly a very feminine and elegant rendition of fresh jasmine, and it shares a similar structure of citrus and white floral as Magnolia Nobile. However, I personally am less impressed by Gelsomino Nobile, probably because there're too many competitors among the jasmine genre. Moreover, the mandarine and sweet jasmine during the opening doesn't seem to agree with my skin chemistry. I'd recommend it as a nice and bright jasmine fragrance, but do try before buying.

My first foray into the big white floral category of fragrances. Opening sharply with mandarin orange and peppercorns, this EDP caught me off guard; it actually smelled strangely smokey and almost leatherish on me at first and I didn't know what to expect. I quickly assumed it was not a good match for my chemistry. But within moments the white florals stepped in and stayed all day long. (not kidding; incredible staying power on me, now up to 11 hours.) After the initial sharp opening it settled into a warm, appealing jasmine/tuberose fragrance; the musk and cedar listed in the base are secondary players in this fragrance. These two basenotes are very subtle, adding a little heft to the floral notes without asserting themselves. The quality of the materials is extraordinary--a feature of this house, from my limited experience with their fragrances--and is a must-try for jasmine lovers. I'm not sure I'm in that catagory, so I'm going to use up my sample before making a big financial commitment on this one. But there's no doubt that this is an extraordinarily beautiful fragrance that's utterly romantic yet at the same time suggests strength of character. Always a lovely mix.

I'm steadily working my way through an enormous stash of long-neglected samples, and I'm at the point now where I'm mostly testing samples I got by accident and wouldn't have picked out for myself in most cases. So I find myself sounding like a broken record in my reviews lately, and this one is no exception: this is great, I really like it, but it's not for me. It definitely is for you if you're a lover of white florals, though, at least worth a try! The opening especially is lovely: all the white flowers are so lush and lifelike then, and the dominant tuberose is the very best kind, not too loud or overwhelming. The drydown is soft and creamy, and very nice as well. The only negative is that it doesn't project very well after the first opening: for most of the day I didn't stop to notice I was wearing any scent at all, which is rare for me. But in the end, it's the same as usual: it's rare for me to really fall for any scent in this category, and Gelsomino Nobile isn't one of those rare exceptions either.

Gelsomino Nobile is quality floral in a bottle, opening with a bountiful bouquet of fresh tuberose sprays--white petals and audacious green sepals. Mandarine and pink pepper then perfectly accompany the entrance of jasmine and orange blossom. Musk and cedar are subtle in the drydown but knit the elements together with perfectly even silk stitches. Gelsomino Nobile culminates into an outstandingly feminine fragrance with masculine tenacity, like liquid silk that binds your wrists together in uncompromising captivity. Bold, cool, and unequivocally well-bred. A truly hypnotic floral that knows how to wield her power.

This was given to me as a gift. I don't know how they did it but Gelsomino Nobile does not give me the vibe of an artificial fragrance; the scent captures the real smell of a big bouquet of fresh flowers. When I spray it I get taken away to nature to a grassy mountain top or perhaps an open field of flowers in the early morning with dew drops covering the petals.. Idk. The bottom line is it's like the real thing in a bottle. Despite that, I don't think it's my style so I'm giving it away to someone who hopefully appreciates the smell of flowers.

Bright fruity floral. I don't normally like fruity florals but this one is a winner! I do, however, love big, unashamed florals and Gelsomino Nobile has that in spades. The jasmine is rich and sweet, accented by the juicy orange. Not really complex or challenging but it's a lovely, happy fragrance. It does kind of collapse in the drydown. It lacks any longevity, and quickly loses the big jasmine and orange, fading into a light, rather pedestrian pink pepper musk. The opening is really wonderful though. Happy jasmine.

To me this is a very simple but well done jasmine then citrus then tuberose scent. Stays close to the skin at the beginning but then gets a little stronger in the dry down. Definitely a summertime scent but could be day or night during that season. It smells expensive but doesn't last as long as I would like. Luckily I found a relatively inexpensive bottle on eBay. A pretty decent scent in my opinion....I can picture myself wearing this to the beach or out to dinner during summer.

Didn't know what to expect when trying this, at first spray it was fresh and powdery green. Slowly the tuberose crept up on me and the rest of the white florals join. Its different from any other white floral scent I've tried and i was pleasantly surprised. The florals are fresh, sweet and almost minty. Not indolic or sharp at all. I notice only a small amount of musk, cedar and pink pepper but the whole scent blends so well. Overall its subtly sweet, bright and summery.

To me this smells a lot like a more floral/less fruity version of Le Parfum de Therese from Frederic Malle/Edmond Roudnitska. Longevity and projection are both good. I don't think I would categorize this as a floral woody musk though... I mean, I know there's musk and woody notes in this, but the fruity/flowery notes really dominates. (Which isn't necessarily a bad thing)! A very nice scent overall!

Acqua di Parma’s Gelsomino Nobile is a delicious, bright and luminous jasmine fragrance that’s fresh, decidedly feminine, and smooth. The green opening and floral heart notes feel lively and natural. It’s a well-balanced scent with good projection and longevity. It’s also easy to wear and versatile - a great option for spring and summer. 💛

Nice jasmin, pretty much a soliflower on my skin. Sillage is close to skin, longevity is good. I think its a nice sophisticated fragrance but for the price tag I was expecting something more complex and outstanding. If I ever want a jasmin perfume I would probably get Ellie Saab or Alien instead of this.

Usually I am not a fan of white florals. And I thought I don't like jasmine. But somehow I ended up buying a 50ml bottle. Jasmine is so young and fresh, not irritating. When I first tried it in the shop, it was raining and +14C outside. Was impressed by longetivity that day.

Lovely fragrance! It smells very natural, creamy, you feel like you can almost touch the petals of the flowers! It projects very well and it is rich and elegant. One of the best white florals out there! For fans of white flowers, a must try!

A present. Same old, same old... dear old My Givenchy on me, but the watermelon's a bit more on the ripe side. And costs more, too.

Like it a lot, it's like a combination of Notre Flore Jasmin (l'Occitane) and Jasminora (Guerlain). Very classy and feminine.

Very strong white flowers - not my cup of tea. Väldigt starka vita blommor - inte min typ av doft.

For me this has too much pepper in. It really tickles my nose for the first 1/2 to 1hour and makes me sneeze and cough. There is a slightly weird/exotic smell in it that I can't make out what it is although I have tried lots of samples with these notes. After half an hour there is the faint smell of something I really like which is beautiful (I tend to like gentle jasmine mixed with tuberose, also orange). I can only just smell it though. It dies down to white musk then it is gone within 3hours. I know it sounds promising but the pink pepper is just too overwhelming. Not sickly but tickles my nose too much.

For me Gelsomino Nobile is quite heavy on the neroli for my liking. I know it isn't listed in the above accords but I smell it all the same. Real orange blossom is very sweet and there is not much sweetness in this perfume. This perfume is ultra fresh. Green Jasmine sambac, tuberose, petigrain, neroli, slight orange blossom. Very tart and a bit headache inducing for me. There are much better jasmines out there than this. Patou's Joy, Chanel's Allure edt, Isabey's Route de Emeraude. Just to name a few. I swear this perfume smells like a glass of tang orange drink w/ some of the sugar taken out of it. I remember the smell vividly, my father used to drink gallons of it, and I despised it. Just downgraded this to a dislike. This smells like tang orange drink w/ white flowers ground into it. Very headache inducing for me. I can see why they discontinued this. I wouldn't buy it. The only thing from this line that I liked was the peony and I have a better peony from Caswell and Massey.

Gelsomino Nobile didn't work for me. The pink pepper note is really strong, sharp and throat-scratching in this, or at least I perceive it that way, especially in the opening. The floral notes are clean and creamy. They're not of the heady, hypnotic kind. Besides the titular jasmine, I can smell almost as much orange blossom. In the drydown, the base of musk and woods becomes noticeable, too. I guess it would be a nice light floral scent, if the pepper wasn't so overwhelming to me. This even reminds me of Kersone Dirty Flower Factory, which has some of the same notes, but is even more sharp to the point of being metallic and unwearable to me. Gelsomino Nobile is like a softer, more wearable version of the same concept. Maybe I'm really sensitive to pink pepper in clean white floral perfumes, even though I generally like spicy perfumes, because other reviewers don't seem to have this problem.

Hmmm...nothing outstanding, nothing striking or unique or different. Its OK, its white floral, its jasmine but not over the top migraine inducing jasmine. It's lady like, elegant, wearable, but just like thousands of other nice, polite ladylike floral fragrances out there. I don't think the scent justifies the price.

Floral. Delicate. Not unisex. Feminine. Staying power is LOW. I usually wear 1-2 sprays. I bath myself in it and barely can smell it. It is not an EDP strength! For this reason it is overpriced. Linear. No development. Pretty though. Official sample.

Jasmine and tuberose is all I get with emphasis on tuberose. I really don't get any musk or woods at the base. Tuberose is one of my least liked notes so this is a dislike for me. After about 4 hours the scent is unnoticeable on my skin.

Anonymous white floral. Not terrible, not particularily good. Incredibly inoffensive and therefore pretty darn boring. There are so many white florals that are far more interesting than this one.
