Agua Fresca Extreme

GREEN FRESH WATER TO ENJOY YOUR SUMMER NIGHTS [Short review] For the summer, Adolfo Dominguez proposes this excellent but still underestimated perfume. It smells like a Mediterranean beach. For me, fresh fragrances usually lack personality. This is not the case with Agua Fresca (literally 'fresh water'). Why is that? It starts with a pretty bottle, a very attractive price and... - A refreshing grassy opening with aldehydes and apple. - A heart of green and watery purple leaves, spiced with nutmeg. - A remarkable fir base with cedar and musk. - An above-average performance for a fresh fragrance. - There is no need for citrus and sweet notes to create this summer scent, which only adds to its uniqueness. - The notes seem quite natural and I don't feel any synthetic vibe. - It's the kind of perfume that everyone likes: young and old, experts and amateurs, men and women. MY OPINION: Try it, or even buy it blindly. It is so good, and so cheap, that it deserves it. Want a reference? It really reminds me of "Virgin Island Water" by Creed, but don't consider it a clone. Nice marine despite my being not too chummy with marine scents in general. Love the madeira note. Don’t know why but the dry down really brings to my mind Creed Original Vetiver

AFE is a slightly sweet, tropical scent that would be a great add to your summer tropical masculine rotation. I bought this based on the notes, the comparisons to VIW, and the price. AFE opens up citrusy and sweet. Immediately, I am reminded of two scents. The first is indeed VIW, specifically the way the citrus smells. The second is Tommy Bahama St Kitts and the star fruit/mandarin note which reminds me of the mango note in Polo Black, a powdery mango that lacks the fresh fruit flesh scent in things like Byredo Pulp or Coconut Nanas. AFE smells tropical without being trite - it blazes its own trail to the tropical vibe. Without having AFE and VIW side-by-side, I would believe they smell quite similar. However, spraying each on the back of my hands, they are quite different. VIW is singularly focused, laser sharp, on the citrus and coconut, with a very narrow fragrance spectrum. AFE, on the other hand, has the citrus note similar to VIW, the aforementioned mango type note, and a background of a more traditional yet modern mens cologne, perhaps with a slight floral edge that brings to mind Roberto Cavalli Uomo. Thus AFE has many more notes blending together to create the overall scent signature. Later in the drydown, I do feel a stronger powdered sugar facet like the scent of PEZ. I note that the perfumer for AFE is none other than Ramon Monegal, who did #laislablanca in his own Ibaza line, a scent with great performance that also is a unique take on the usual tropical fragrance. This makes me even more happy I purchased AFE! Interestingly, 3 of 3 people that I asked to smell AFE vs VIW liked AFE better(!). Your mileage may vary on this, as VIW is beloved by many!!! Also, compared to a 2020 batch of VIW, at about 8 hours VIW is barely detectable as a skin scent while AFE is a strong skin scent with likely a little projection/sillage.

The fragrance went on sale on 1 September in Spain. I in early October and had bought. The notes shown here are not correct. It has violet, apple, cut grass, rosemary, sage and cedar as well. The fragrance starts fresh and sea as a mixture of seawater, mainly apple and rosemary. When the fragrance dries quickly the smell of violet it is mixed with cedar and notes especiadas.En currently dominant fragrance is established as a fresh floral and aromatic. It is a fragrance somewhat strange and I do not know what time of year and day is more appropriate. By its predominantly fresh, marine and floral notes I think it's better to use something heavy spring sweetness but do not see very suitable for the hot summer. In autumn tempered it could also be used. It is not a clear night nor morning fragrance. It is a good smell but something strange for me because in my opinion should more ocean and less floral. Has plenty of strength to the note of violet that makes something cloying. It does not look like Acqua di Gio. Acqua di Gio is more citrus, although the marine floral tone if they share.

I got it today, I can indeed feel the marine aspects of it and the floral almost fruity notes... it has almost NOTHING to do with the original Agua Fresca which I found better even though a bit too classy. It reminds me of many other cheap generic fragrances...like something from Nautica...nothing ground-breaking for sure...but that is ok given the price...I recommend it to an occasional fragrance user who just want to wear a fragrance and nothing more... If bought under 20 eur I would rate it like an 8 out of 10 cause it is not really that bad and it does not stink... if bought over 20-30 then I would rate it as a 6 Final words: simple, generic, forgettable, of average quality, mass-oriented....but again...it does not smell bad

Hmmm. I am kind of torn on this one. Not a bad fragrance. Kind of similar to Guess 1881 Indigo. My problem is that I don't see it as a good flanker to the original. The lightness and freshness that makes me love Agua Fresca is missing in AF Extreme. I find this heavier and more muddled, but as I said at the beginning, it is not a bad scent. Longevity is actually quite good as well.

A marine/floral perfume with a touch of aldehydes. It's really fresh and pleasant. However, longevity and silage are both quite weak The dry down has a slight pepper tinge to it with a slight amber. It's perfect for Summer and holidays if you don't mind re-applying. Oh.....I love the bottle.

I think it has the original Agua Fresca DNA whith a marine fresh, floral vibe that are the main notes in the fragance specially when it dries. Longevity 6/10 Sillage 6/10 Smell 6/10 Nothing special for me, I prefer original Agua Fresca.

I love AD vetiver, one of my top 5 fragrances so I thought I’d blind buy this one.....in terms of value still good but it doesn’t have the same level of complexity. I get sweet coconut at the start and then it dries down to a sweet powdery fragrance, more synthetic than I like. Still worth the price .

I fell in love w/the original AF the first time I smelled it. The label, the juniper berry, the feelings it evoked at such a great price - I have always kept a bottle on my shelf. AFE, however, is just not in the same league as far as I’m concerned. Someone below mentioned the word ‘muddled’ and I think that is pretty accurate. AFE opens with a light blast of sea water and aldehydes. This is a certainly interesting mix, but the aldehydes smell diluted and synthetic. It’s not horrible, but it’s certainly not pleasant. A warmer spicy and floral mix undergirds these and when the top notes fade, the heart of the fragrance is just a sort of a messy, spicy, floral mix. I’m not sure what the ‘extreme’ refers to in the title of the fragrance, either. Initially, I thought it would be AF on steroids, but this doesn’t really have anything to do with the original as far as I can tell. The base notes are sort of a warm amber and musk, probably the nicest part of the fragrance, but I think I’ll skip this one.

It's a unique spin on a lot of modern, mass-appealing fresh fragrances, with a definite vibe of Creed's Virgin Island Water. Picked it up out in Spain, partly because of its distinctiveness, partly because it was 14 QUID. I mean damn, you don't usually get smalls like this for 14 quid. It has the greatest lasting power of all the Agua Fresca line, and the greatest projection. I sprayed this upstairs, my brother walks in the front door and smells it. Even outside in windy conditions it projects like a beast. Despite, as I say, being the longest lasting of all the Agua Frescas, I only get around 2 hours out of it really, before it becomes a skin scent. It does last well on clothes though. This is for sure a warm weather scent. In Spain, I'm guessing due to the weather, it was great, and I received unwarranted compliments. Now back in dreary England in a dull March, while I have still receive compliments, I have received more negatives than before. Now it's coder weather, I have been told it is reminiscent of turpentine, cleaning fluid, a valeted car, bleach and leather. Not all bad, but not all the aquatic freshness that it had in warmer climates (and what it was intended to have). So I shall hold off using this one for the winter time - bizarre how greatly the weather affects the perception of a fragrance! I can detect a pale reflection of the original Agua Fresca scent profile in here somewhere, but it is nothing close to being a direct descendant. The clean barbershop quality is what I am referring to, however that is overshadowed by the aquatic and floral notes. It is overall a very good fragrance for the price, if somewhat inappropriate outside of warmer weather, and as a previous reviewer said, can be rather cloying (although I only found that to be in the strong opening). If you want a unique but still mass-appealing summer scent, with impressive projection and decent longevity, for only 14 quid, pick up Agua Fresca Extreme.

Im wondering if the people that upvoted VIW have actually smelled VIW bc these 2 smell nothing alike. Extreme isnt blended well as you smell every single note list. This isnt a cohesive fragrance though its very unique...really cant say ive smelled another frag that this is similar too. This is not sweet which VIW is, this is not citrusy which VIW is, this isnt smooth which VIW is. Good, unique but not VIW

Note-wise, looks interesting. A warm spicy, aquatic fragrance. Noice!
