Sueno Latino

Spicy margaritas and taxidermy I don’t generally like fruity scents but this is a really well done version. I definitely get the red pepper at the top as it feels slightly spicy as in hot. It stays in the back of your throat like the aftertaste of a spicy meal followed up by something like a mango margarita. The fig seems to be providing more sweetness rather than making it figgy, but that’s fine because it’s a very realistic mango note. At the base I mainly pick up on Guaiac wood and leather—kind of like taxidermy but cleaner. The deep dry down becomes slightly vanillic. The whole composition is very unique and interesting. I look forward to sampling other offerings from this house.

I got this as a sample and i must say: its become a favorite. As I am very prone to get nauseous in heat while wearing some scents, this performs incredibly well and didn’t give me a headache or similar. Its fruity but not too sweet or heavy and has a beautiful musky woody scent. Its perfectly balanced. It feel’s sophisticated but fun at the same time- i havent smelt anything like this before. Maaaaaaybe resembles mangoskin by vilhelm- sueno however is far more complex. Will think of getting a fullsized of this.

I blind bought this and have no regrets. This is so different and quite lovely. It’s a sultry scent. Mango and spice and everything nice!

Hey! A mango perfume that doesn't make me gag! The mango here is actually very enjoyable. Latin Dream starts off with an extremely peppery mango, which is an odd combination. I've had mango sprinkled with Tajin many times, which is delicious, but this is not that. Supposedly there is red pepper in the opening, but all my nose can get is the tight, fruity tingle of black and rainbow peppercorns caked over juice-oozing ripe mango; no chili powder to be found, so far as I can tell. These two stars of the top and heart notes have a lot propping them up from underneath. AdV states it in the brief, and they are absolutely correct, that there is a palpable humidity to this perfume. It is sopping wet and close, like the humidity of a tropical jungle (while you walk through it eating a peppered mango). Utterly bizarre but certainly captivating and fun. The sugary sweetness certainly adds to the effect of the "closeness". This perfume is sticky. Here begins an issue. Sueno Latino attempts novelty in the genre of fruity leather. So, in the base, yes, expect and find in abundance a massive "leather" accord thanks to some rather unusual characters, namely an extremely thick and sweet musk. Inserted into the musk are generous helpings of guaiac wood, sandalwood, olibanum, and some other amberic notes. First a compliment: AdV and Gabriela Chelariu make a very convincing connection between mango and leather. Thanks to the musks, the fruity sweetness imparted to them gives a very realistic impression of mango, while the other characters do most of the heavy lifting to elevate the leather accord. The leather is not as convincing as the mango, but it's there. Very nicely done. The issue is one of concept: who wants to wear leather in sweltering heat and humidity? Particularly sweet, fruity, sweltering heat and humidity? I don't. Thankfully the humid quality of Sueno Latino doesn't last long into the dry down, so then you're left with a sweet fruity "leather" pinned against some dry balsams and amberic notes. The sweetness is right on the line of being too much, but the dry amberic notes help keep it in check. But... I wish I could find the technical words to say this, but it's easier if I just come out and say it: sweet mangoes and leather do not smell good together. I love leather, I love mangoes, and I also love the brand of bar-soap I use in the shower, and I love a great curry; I don't want my soap and curry to mix. Therefore, I'm at an impasse with Sueno Latino. Though I don't care for the way it smells and the way it feels sensorily, I cannot deny that it was done well. Someone out there is going to love this, and I can understand why and cannot fault them for it, but that someone is not me.
