Methaldone

Belki adından yada markanın kimliğinden, ilk sıktığınızda kimyasal - temizlik malzemesi havasında bir açılış ile karşılaşıyorsunuz. Birazda deri havasında bir koku çarpıyor sizi. Mağazada anında koklanip satın alınan türde bir çalışma değil. Anlaşılan öyle bir kaygısı yok markanın. Yarim saat sonra tütsü, odunsu bir hava ile karışarak yükseliyor. Bu kısa bir gösteri çünkü 10 dakika sonra ise biraz şekerimsi bir havaya bürünüyor. Muhteşem değil, kötü de değil. Artık her parfümün birbirine benzediği günümüzde farklı bir iş olmuş. Zaten her ay mantar gibi türeyen ve kendine "niş" diyen marka bozuntularindan biktim. Bu anlamda farklı ve taktir edilmesi lazım. Kalabalıklar için uygun değil, övgü ve beğeni toplayacak türden değil. Olmasın zaten. Bu parfüm kullanan için yapılmış. Ortalama parfüm kullanıcıları muhtemelen size "ilaç kokuyorsun" , "Bu koku senden mi geliyor" diyebilir. Bir saatin sonunda daha odunsu ve güçlü bir parfüm havasına yaklaşıyor ama halen kafa karıştıran bir tarzı var. Markanın diğer parfümlerini deneme fırsatım olmadı ama benzer yorumlar okudum. Eğer "guzel kokmaliyim" "övgü ve beğeni almaliyim" diyorsanız bu parfümle işiniz yok.

Mmm...inquietante-confortevole... Immaginatevi in una chiesa senza fiori con l'incenso nell'aria.. Siete inginocchiati sull'altare davanti a calde candele ,le mani intrecciate poggiano sulla fronte,mel mentre respirate l'odore di pelle,sangue e carne che si mescola al metallo delle monete che avete appena offerto... Di rapida asciugatura,apre con una forte e piacevole vampata di calore. Un po dolce ambrato e piccante. Questa va a spegnersi mescolata ad un incenso austero ma accogliente per le prime tre ore. Si abbassa di netto in un profumo della pelle,carnale,personale,sanguigno e metal! Non forte ma duraturo. Un incenso vestito addosso. Full-metal-jacket!

A reminder of Comme Des Garcons' Odeurs and Synthetic Series but somehow clearer and more inhuman. Burnt phosphorus matchsticks, the metallic part of a rose, some cold stones from an abandoned church thrown in the mix, hints of plastic sweetness, brand new nylon bags in bulk, electricity. Alienating to a point where you can't really connect, even on the level of objects. I could say it's like a whiff of industrial urban air, but even that would be a too familiar thing to refer to. Strange situation though: my bottle is almost empty already, although at the same time I can't really remember when and where did I wear this scent, not one single time. I usually know these things. Scents remind me of places, moods, people, seasons, projects that I worked on. It's even specific events and details most of the time. The only thing I recall with Methaldone is how I bought it online. No other imprint. Yet obviously I've worn it a lot. I guess these were moments when I subconsciously wanted a fragrance that doesn't speak about anything at all. The thing with Methaldone is that it's paradoxically soft and discreet. Besides all the "outer space" content, it's not screaming, chemical-sharp or demanding. As if the perfumer went to the extreme and then toned everything down without losing the concept. The smart thing to do, even though it results in a thin, almost invisible scent. No ambers, patchoulis or musks in sight, and actually no "weird", unsettling notes either. Most highly conceptual fragrances tend to be an in-your-face experience, fighting for attention. For its level of discreteness, Methaldone falls more likely into the category of molecular skin scents, showing and disappearing again, a fragrant metal powder sprinkled on your neck.

A very soft, worked synthetic scent that reminds me of something I’ve tried before – it’s killing me because I cannot remember! It might be the dry down, or a small element of a scent, but smelling this is reminding me of something and I can’t get it out of my head! Anyway, the entire feel of the scent is a mix of myrrhey-resin, musky-animalic and taffy-gourmand. All elements mix together to create an alluring combination that will definitely appeal to people. I’ve met people who do NOT like to smell like vanilla (for example), or anything remotely recognisable. This type of scent comes across as something that is incidentally perfumed, like designer stationery or a hotel lobby – something like that, this is what this scent makes me think. I won’t be able to sleep until I can remember what this reminds me of!!! Either way, this is not for me – it functions like too much of a vignette, or a fleeting scene, for me. Not enough heft up back and a little too static (the dynamics on this are minimal). Lovely perfume, just not for me... Amouage – Interlude Woman – it’s the kiwi accord in full swing, here. The dry down is Interlude Woman, without the bombast of the incense, resin and woods. Pleasant, but not for me...
