Honey Blossom

This is a really pretty Linden blossom fragrance. It draws out Linden’s ambery tones into an almost savory scent. I get a sweet amber, mimosa, and warm linden and honey tones, pumpkin, and a mild benzoin basenote, and just a touch of something animalic, giving some saltiness. There is some very small resemblance to Slow Dive, but this blend is much subtler and less literally honey-scented.

This is a beautiful honey linden blossom. Yellow, springy, and very soft & transparent. It's like a water glass sour honey blend. The colder the thicker it goes with a slowly visible ambergris. Very easy to wear and very interesting.

This Honey Blossom does suggest a very odd note of honey, though it isn't listed as such on either Fragrantica or the Aftelier site. Interestingly (but not surprisingly), the two sites do provide slightly different notes. Both list or mention linden , mimosa, orange flower, honeysuckle, ambergris, and honeysuckle, ...but only Aftelier includes tea rose, while Fragrantica replaces that with benzoin. My nose agrees more with Aftelier, I detect rose, not benzoin. I don't know if the base is really only salty, animalic ambergris, but that is olfactorily believable. Anyway, back to the very odd note of honey. Why is it so very odd? Why? because it is almost entirely lacking in sweetness. If you can imagine salty, sour honey, then you're probably imagining Aftelier's Honey Blossom. Another way to "visualise" (or "olfactorise"?) this is imagine adding only a little honey into a lot of Greek yogurt, or even soured milk! The white florals are there too, but they only lie awkwardly in the background, overcast by a cloud of this bizarre anti-honey. So do I find this remarkably sour honey interesting? ...I suppose. Do I find it ineffably lovely?...NO! And yes, I did sample this on both blotter and skin. It comes out the same. As always, with any perfume, especially natural ones, this is worth sampling and learning from, ...but unless your nose and skin truly crave a scent that comes out of the bottle already curdled, ...you'll probably want to skip this.

My second sample from Aftelier. Was looking forward to these samples for a long time, but am struggling with them; I do get the "rubbery" and "beer" that others have described below. The very first whiff smells just like beer. Then I had a hint of animalic (stanky kind) which I never have tolerance for. The Aftelier "Fig" was heavy animalic, and my first sample. I couldn't handle it on my test plate at all, had to get it out of the room, again the heavy animalic "stank" thing. I'll never understand what people find appealing about that kind of smell. I have two more samples, one of which I've tried (Joie de Vert) and has no stank to it and is much more along the lines of what I can take. The last sample is a cocoa-style one, and I'm looking forward to that. Very disappointed I didn't get the Wild Roses sample...be willing to bet I'd like that one too. I leave this review mainly to remind myself of what I've tried. I'm a huge fan of naturals, and of the Aftelier approach to perfume, so I'm determined to find something I like. (I like the Joie de Vert, but it isn't something I'd wear or use very often).

sampled from Aftelier. I have the 1ml eau de parfum spray. My sample is over one year old - I'm working through some of my older samples to determine if I like any enough for a full bottle. This one doesn't make the cut for me. What I like: It's natural. It smells fresh and true to nature. It doesn't smell like any of my other honey type fragrances. The drydown also smells like sweet pollen, like your nose is inside a honey scented flower, which is pleasant. However, I get a rubbery note with this and it stays for about 2 hours. (This is a skin scent that lasts for 4 to 5 hours. So somewhat typical of a natural fragrance.) On me, it smells like dandelions and rubber which could be interesting but it's not something I want to smell like. I remember buying this for the honey part but it's mostly blossom. For anyone looking for a natural honey fragrance, I would recommend Hiram Green's Slow Dive.

Honey Blossom, is the most beautiful Spring floral I have ever come across. Linden Blossom, in all its fragility is not overwhelmed by the orange blossom or other notes but instead, they bouy the delicate elegance of it. It is a master perfumer that can take natural linden blossom and not turn it into stew. I love perfume and have an extensive collection and this to me, like Aftel's Wild Rose, is the smoothest perfume you will ever know. Being natural, it takes more applications but, that is a good thing for your body and mind.

This is a lovely, very transparent floral that smells like a high-quality microbrewed beer in the vial, but becomes a barely-there pollen-sprinkled luminous floral on the skin. Unfortunately this one is not for me, as the natural smell of my skin overwhelms the translucency of the natural components. The brilliant but fleeting ingredients in this perfume are so light that they are barely detectable. Glad to see that it has worked for others, as it's a lovely creation.

I def get honey-ambery florals but...in the end in kind of smells like expensive baby powder to me.
