Velvet Tuberose

I went to Mandy Aftel's recent open house this December where she showcased her scents, sold natural essences, and in her kitchen let us try various edibles with salts. It as amazing. Without really thinking of the price (which I should have), I tried the Velvet Tuberose and said, "I'll take that." I wound up also with Palimpsest, Cocoa, and Memento Mori. I have to say that despite the hefty price--this is one Tuberose I have absolutely fallen for. I like Tuberose in general, but it's not my favorite (I'm not a white floral lover in the main) and I much prefer incense and woods, smokey leathers, spicy scents. But her Tuberose is just so complex, lightly sweet, gently sexy and comforting floral--quite uplifting. I find it to be a gently honeyed Tuberose, very little mushroom earthiness, but there, creamy and lush, with a bit of the green from the fir so a little honeyed-freshness with creamy Tuberose. This is not a mentholated meaty tuberose to my nose, but it smells "true"--better than true. I carry it with me all the time, and I love it. While it's definitely not a "room clearer" and sits closer to the skin, it still projects and lasts quite a while, wafting up from my skin. The longevity isn't beyond 4-5 hours at most and is a skin scent at the third hour, but hey, just reapply. It's a beautiful scent and I was told by her husband that the tin would last two years (ha! probably not with me...). But the solid products lasts a while. I am so delighted at the high quality of the ingredients and the power of this solid perfume. Wonderfully executed and no regrets about my unthinking splurge!
