I’ve now tried several Agatho fragrances and although not all of them are to my liking, I appreciate the artistry that has gone into them and the niche style they represent. 195ac starts very sharp and green. A little too much for me. I get some freshness from the mint, although the mint here is better blended than many other fragrances with that note. The fig is there too but not a creamy fig, rather a raw, earthy fig with twigs and branches. This first phase lasts for a while but slowly the sharpness dies back and everything starts to settle down. This is when I really like this fragrance. As it transitions, it turns into a slightly bitter scent with tea and incense and it becomes a dryer fragrance, although some of the notes stop it becoming too austere or formal. I get an almost earthy musk in the base. It’s very unique to my nose and needs to be smelt by individuals to assess. I love the drydown and it’s uniquenesses but I’m not sure when I would wear it. Possibly it would be better suited to warmer months. I shall have to wait to spring to test it again. Performance seems very good to me with great longevity and noticeable sillage. Reasonably unisex although perhaps tipping slightly to masculine. I really do like these Agatho fragrances for what they bring and the presentation is very unique although you are paying top dollar so not a blind buy. I’m on the fence whether to get this. I love the final smell but the initial spray, which lasts a while, is slightly challenging. Not in a skanky or offensive way, it’s just very sharp, strong and a little in your face. However, the biggest doubt in my mind is where and when I’ll wear it. Perhaps testing again in warmer months will give me a different perspective.

TLDR: Green cathedral. Bitter fig leaf, holy incense smoke. A fragrant, organic tea ritual. Let me start by saying, the journey Agatho Parfum has offered is one of the most compelling I've been on in years. The star of my collection right now is absolutely 195 a.C and it is like none other I have ever smelled on my skin. The opening is a startlingly clear blast of green. The fig leaf is instantly recognizable, grounded by a subtle, cooling citrus and an earthy touch of patchouli. The overall effect? It’s like inhaling the steam from an exquisitely fragrant cup of herbal tea. It has a beautiful, natural quality and the ingredients genuinely smell organic. The bitter element of the fig allows the scent to play with sweetness and darkness at the same time, creating an appreciation for its complexity. Move just five minutes into the dry down, and you feel the fragrance start to shift. That "brewing concoction" gives way to a gentle, smoky incense-y steam rising from the skin. From my experience, this house specializes in crafting incredibly intricate, complex scents. But a final word of advice: you have to try this on your skin, not paper. The full, amazing experience won't translate otherwise.

This fragrance is so fascinating, I have never smelled anything like it. It opens with a sharp vegetalness, bitter and astringent. Crushed fig leaves, tangy pomegranate, and cool mint. The citruses support that greenness, enhancing the sharp, sap-like quality. The effect is something fresh, wild and primeval. It's quite harsh at first and might be challenging, but there is a sense of untamed freedom, a kind of wild joy. After that initial sharp vegetal burst, jasmine begins to bloom, adding a touch of sweet, floral tenderness; fig reveals its fruitier facet, and a subtle incense shows through. It feels botanical, lush green, and somewhat sublime in an earthy way, a wild garden that becomes, in itself, an ode to the sacredness of Nature.

A very striking and unique scent, IMO. The bitter aspect of the tea note combines with the incense to create a strange, inky darkness. Meanwhile, the fig and the herbaceous aspect of the tea note positively snap with an almost mentholated shock of crisp, dewy, green freshness. It ought to be discordant and off-putting, but instead I find it eerily compelling. Imagine you're alone in an abandoned mine with a dead flashlight. For some dream-logic-esque reason, all you have in your pack to slake your thirst is a spiny bundle of aloe vera leaves. You're blind in the dark, and when you bite into one of the leaves, the cool, green crunch bursts on your tongue, slick and unfathomably fresh in the permeating blackness.

#1048 in my "Tour de Fragrance" This is a fantastic figgy incense fragrance that combines everything I love in one scent, so despite the price tag I will probably splurge and get this. It has nice green woodiness, and I am gaining an appreciation for the value of tea's astringent quality in keeping these scents from being cloying. It's long lasting but the sillage is very moderate. I'm sure you can get away with this in close spaces because a girlfriend taking refuge with me from the fires in LA, who sneezes just walking behind someone wearing fragrance, is not reacting to this at all. I typically would not wear an incense scent to the office, but on a date, at intimate range, I think this kills.

Unique, masterful. A woody, fruity, smoky delight. The description on Bloom's website is perfection - "Inhale the sweet aroma of ripe figs and the local pomegranate leaves heated by the sun; these entire spicy incense being smoked in the nearby temple. So anciently refreshing!" Tested four from the Fantastic Figs sample pack from Bloom, and here are my thoughts from best to worst: 195 a.C - Stand out favourite. Beso Pasión - a beautiful Thai green curry that dries to a tug of war between sweet fig and prickly woods. Jardins de Kerylos 16 - Fresh, watery, green, light floral and fig. Iris Oriental 14 -A pot of warm spiced honey next to a vase of freshly picked iris flowers.

I have this one for a test and I will admit I like this more than Philosykos Eau de Parfum Diptyque. I know this will be a sacrilegious statement for some, but let me try to explain. Philosykos is a masterpiece for sure. But it is a smoother kind of fig that soothes and makes for a great scent any time of day or night, but more fitting for warm seasons. This one is sharp, challenging, and smells like dark woods filled with figs. It will not be great in most workplaces, but it is wonderful outside and in crowded places with lots of scented bodies around. I won't wear this too often, but I will enjoy it each time I spray it on. Maybe you should try a sample too.

I have a complex relationship with this perfume. I got a sample. To my nose, you briefly get that fresh citrus note at the beginning. This quickly fades into what I must describe as a very well blended mix of incense and fig, that to me almost gives off a cold, fresh green smoke, a very distinctive smell that yet retains some characteristics of its individual notes, and that I can see very versatile. I got complimented by work colleagues on it. At the same time, my girlfriend utterly hates it (and I have shown her a wide variety of fragrance samples in the past). If she liked it, I would recommend buying it, however, it seems to be a very divisive smell.

This is such a different fig scent. I may even call it sexy. Longevity and staying power are through the roof and the way it lingers off the skin is mesmerizing. I get it all, leafy green fig, sappy fig milk from when you pick fresh fruit from the garden, sweetness of the fruit. So much creativity and labor has been put into it. It has a beautiful underlying smokiness to it accompanied by very serene woody base. I get slight hints of tea but can't classify as the tea scent. Anyhow, simply wow! A star of my collection. Very unisex and very complex. True collector's item.

Really strong, powerful and fresh at the same time. Perfect fig scent for me with nice durability and sillage, good choice for office and sunny scalding day. I would like to purchase it some 10-15 ml samples. I'm quite sure that this will be enough for me for long time, given that 2-3 sprayings will be enough for sure. I tried many fig scents and sure that this if top 1 fig leading scent imho. Only popular fig I haven't tried yet are Prada - Infusion fig and Phylosicos. Top 2 fig in my opinion is Fig Infusion from EP, top 3 is Molinard - Fugie.

Sample review. This is a beautiful fragrance. On the initial spray, the sweet fig plus the green woodiness almost smells like overly ripe bananas to me. It is a raw, earthy scent that is reminiscent of walking through a humid forest right after the rain. My only hesitancy to purchase is the practicality of this fragrance. Could be too much for a typical 9-5 and if you don't want to project, but in less intimate circumstances, this could be a go-to fragrance for late spring and summer. Great for day and night. This is an amazing scent!

An intense, evocative perfume that smells of ancient. It is a particular, very enveloping perfume. The notes I hear the most are mint (although not listed), tea and incense. A nice scent, really impressed by 195. a.C. The sillage and longevity are good, this perfume manages to connect me with my inner essence, evoking the ancient. Sillage: 7.5/10 Longevity: 8./10 Scent: 8.5/10 Overall: 8.5/10

Such an interesting, usual fragrance. It reminds me a bit of a Chinese herbalist shop (ok, in honesty it reminds me of the wormwood v-steam that they have at the Korean sauna that I like to go to, but Chinese herbalist sounds a lot more appealing). Very herbal and almost medicinal, but addictive.

Strong, bitter crushed fig leaves, lemony pomegranate sharpness, and smooth black tea + incense in the background. This is the sharpest, most intense fragrance I’ve ever liked. I spray the air once and walk into it... that's how powerful this stuff is...

Wow! A fig leaf, just picked off the tree. Green, fuzzy, and lacking sweetness. A touch of mint. Three hours later, it’s dried down to aromatic cedarwood with a hint of smoky incense.

My actual favorite from the collection. A beautiful fig based scent I would love to wear on spring and summer. Thumbs up!

My first experience from this line and brand Let me start with it being similar to a lot of fig centred fragrances even my significant other that didn’t get other notes from the first guess knew it was figs right away So In a way it’s a different interpretation of philosycos and wanderlust with something extraordinary in the dry down So it starts sharp green and lush Closer to the twigs and leaves of a fig tree The magic happens after the couple of hours pass by the cashmeran flourishes into something very nice it reminded me of amouges guidance with its creamy texture that everyone loved but with the remains of the fig tree It was one hell of a fragrance and I loved it unfortunately I have philosycos and I think it’s enough for now not sure if I will get it in the future but it sure as heck is one incredible discovery

Nice fragrance, good longevity, projection.... I compared this to Ichnusa, Wanderlust and Adam's Dress.... it's most similar to Adam's dress.... a very figgy, woody scent that's very pleasant... Wanderlust was the sweetest of the bunch, more fruits with the apple, etc... Ichnusa was the least sweet most green of the bunch, smoother.... so that's the one I'd probably prefer from those 4 figgy fragrances, although I'm not 100% sold on that one either. So maybe fig is just not my thing. My next one to sample will be Wulong Cha X to see if less fig and more tea is more up my alley.... That's my 2c.

195 a.C. makes a stunning first impression. The opening is a vibrant explosion of green fig and earthy patchouli, fresh, lush, and full of life. As the fragrance unfolds, mint, tea, woods, and incense weave together, creating a sophisticated scent that feels like wandering through an ancient Mediterranean garden. It's an elegant, distinctive unisex fragrance that leans slightly masculine on my skin. I only wish it lasted longer. After that beautiful green opening, it fades after about four hours, leaving me wanting just a little more of its quiet magic.

I got a sample when I heard it smelled like Adam & eve’s dress and wanderlust. It probably has the least longevity out of the 3 on my skin and turns into a skin scent pretty quickly so it’s not worth it. The initial fragrance is gorgeous but no longevity or sillage to be worth it. Bottle looks beautiful but that’s not enough for me.

Starts of with lots of fig and pomegranate, before after 20-30 minutes the incense and tea kick in. The fruitiness takes a backseat and it gets more serious and austere. I really like it though it's not a summer fig, more something for fall or when it's still cool in spring. Quite strong too.

Compared to Adam & eve’s dress and found this turned into a powdery skin scent on me. Will test more though cause I loved the sound of it!

It’s just not working; I couldn’t bring myself to like this one at all. The reason is a note that reads like artificial lemon flavouring, and it really gets on my nerves. It comes off like a mint-lemon soda, with a sugary edge to boot > no thanks. People compare it to Wanderlust; absolutely not. That one is far juicier, fruitier, and more natural by comparison. Which is a shame, the fig, tea, and incense angles really intrigued me. And the presence of styrax; usually a favourite of mine; should have been a highlight, but it didn’t meet my expectations here. Starts quite harsh - with something that smells a bit like nail remover. Probably a mix of smoky and fruity notes that gives this impression. The fruitiness here is very synthetic and I’m not a big fan. Well it’s definitely unique but not my cup of tea.

I expected more fig, the only three notes that I really take here, is a lot of incense, a bitter black tea and the cedar. If you really want a fruity and juicy Fig fragrance, I'd recommend you try "Phylosikos" or "Premier Figuier"

There are 2 kinds of people, those who like fig and then the majority (I'm in the latter). With this one it's all about the fig, I get fig leaf the most and then milky fig and some other green nuances. The opening is a bit harsh and off-putting however it mellows down and it becomes easier to wear however if you're not a fig person then it's just not for you. I can't discuss performance as I just tested from a Sample, there's a lot of quality here but it's just not for everyone, certainly not blind buy worthy.

so dusty i started coughing at first sniff. i passed the sample bottle, labelled, to my boyfriend, who smelt it and immediately said ‘i see why it’s called that’

Bitter bitter. Chinese herbal medicine shop bitter air. Woody bitter. Absolutely a big NO for me. There is no black tea, mint, or whatever these guys below me are trying to peddle. Just absolute overwhelming woody bitterness. The most challenging and off putting of the entire brand. Its brothers and sisters in this line are absolute classy masterpieces. This is along the lines of Arquiste Nanban.

In the opening, I smelled a little fig leaf but, I mostly get mint, patchouli, tea, and wood. I really can't smell any fruit or sweetness. It's a mentholic, linear green scent. It smells sharp and bitter. It must be an overdose of black tea that makes this so bitter.

the bottle is stunning but that's about it. this is just chinese medicine in a bottle to me. mere bitterness. still excited to try out the other fragrances from agatho though.

Based from a sample. 195ac starts off as others have mentioned bitter green giving the impression of leaves and stems being crushed in the hand and smells the bitter /pungency is sweetened with fig leaf while the bergamot adds lift and the mint note though not smelling like mint per say added an airiness and helps separate the notes. On first spray I can see how some would find it unpleasant but as this blends with the skin it sweetens just slightly and cedar and a whisp of incense add woodyness to the fragrance to keep this from smelling like a garden salad. The overall impression from this scent is that great feeling you get when your out in nature in the spring when everything is green fresh and the sun heats the grass and plants after rain bringing a sense of vitality. If your a man and like Phylosikos but can’t get past the feminine coconut note this would definitely be something to look into. This scent will be odd for beginners and to the general public as it’s so photorealistic-ally green they just won’t understand but as someone who has smelled hundreds if not thousands of scents this is a true masterpiece. Once I finish my sample I’ll be on to a full bottle. My only issue is that because it’s soooo green it’s very seasonal making it less versatile the same way gourmand frags do better right around Christmas. I can’t wait to try this on a blue bird day in late spring.

Smells uncannily like Thai Green Curry. So much more so than Emerald Curry by Parfum Prissana. I think the fig leaves are contributing the mukrat lime leaf/kaffir scent and the fig fruit itself is providing coconut milk. There’s even a clear green bell pepper note. No exaggeration, if you were to have me smell this with no info, I’d swear this was the most clever recreation of Thai Green Curry I’ve ever smelled. And it’s funny because the one named that, inspired by green curry didn’t really capture it. This totally does. The later drydown is pleasant as it morphs to a bright green and clean, more traditional masculine. 4 out of 5. Not something I want to wear or own, but impressive and pretty cool. Edit: as I read more reviews, it seems like 50% of people get the green/fruity/figgy profile that I do while 50% of people get some kind of musty/dusty/woody/incense thing. It sounds like sensitivity to cashmeran, which some noses are extra sensitive to.

I only had a small sample but it went to my wish list. It smells coniferous to my nose, green, smoky, refreshing, natural, unique. I love it. It's parfum concentration apparently. low to average silage, average to good lasting power. I've never seen the bottle but it looks attractive in the picture. I didn't even want to try it when I saw oud in the notes, lately I don't like oud anymore, but I am glad I did. Absolutely no oud can be smelled, but instead some pine tree wood, the same scent you get in a lumber yard, just more complex. It's definitely unisex, leaning more masculine than feminine, but I still want it. If anyone in Canada has it and wants to swap, I have a large collection, and I could offer you some nice things for it.

Just a note to say I have both the original and 195 by The Dua which someone mentioned in a comment in the thread. Of the two I’d pick the Dua if I was made to choose. The opening is more sparkling and effervescent, the longevity is 24 hours or more on clothes and the dry down morphs between a now lactonic fig and hints of Oud (once the bottle has sat in a darkened cabinet for a few weeks. Initially there’s about as much oud as you would find in a grape...). The original has all of these factors but in a slightly more muted fashion. Importantly, you just can’t ignore the price difference.

This was such an interesting fragrance journey. The first spray was STRONG! A combo of juicy pine fresh almost minty and a splash of smoke. This lasted about 30 minutes - a distracting intense 30 before it lost all its smoke and pine and became a sweet fig cedar that I really loved. That scent lasted for a several hours. I am not sure I would purchase a FB but I am really glad I got to experience this scent. Super interesting.

Lemongrass, yuzu, grapefruit, fig leaf, basil, jasmine and peppermint. Very refreshing, narrowly avoiding the 'cleaning supplies' type of citrus and providing lots of herbal, slightly bitter notes as well as a slight sweetness beneath it all. Pleasant!

Oh, my! I am a pushover for fig. Wonder if I will ever have the opportunity to smell this one. And the packaging. Really stunning. Can't wait to hear what you have to say about this one.
