Miss AP

Since fall is rolling around here, it’s once again time to break out my bottle of Miss AP. It’s the perfect, sexy fall/winter scent with insane, over-the-top sultryness. Wearing this, I always feel like a film noir femme fatale with pitch-black curled hair, sitting at a hotel bar and languidly smoking a cigarette, gripping the long bakelite cigarette holder with my claw-like painted nails. The detective, preferably Humphrey Bogart, wearing a ‘blue’ cologne, sits by me, and I yawn when presented with evidence proving I stabbed my husband to death. Soon enough, I’ll meet my demise and the end credits will roll. This is a woody, patchouli rose perfume with a fresh, masculine twist. It opens very fresh, spicy, and aromatic in a way that reminds me of some male cologne...maybe Sauvage? That smell persists throughout the entire lifespan of the scent, becoming slightly more mellow as time passes, of course. Two years back, when I got my bottle, I didn’t love the opening, because I struggle a bit with unisex/masculine stuff, but it’s honestly so great! This type of ‘dark, gothic rose’ scent profile is pretty overdone (AND I LOVE IT!!! I’m not hating, I fall for it every time!), but Miss AP’s masculine edge sets it apart and makes it unique. And thanks to it, a man could totally rock this perfume as well! Sandalwood makes this quite creamy, and the sweetness here is lovely and subdued. I have to be careful when spraying this, since it's very strong and might bother some people. Longevity is fantastic. I own both Miss AP and L’Agent, and to be frank, I find them very similar. I don’t notice any major differences between them – Miss AP is perhaps a bit creamier and more floral, but it's not very noticeable even when comparing the two side by side.

Miss AP by Agent Provocateur. How can I say that im in love without saying I'm in love? Perhaps that I'm absolutely smitten, enchanted, delighted, swooning and absolutely over the moon with this blind buy. And thats doesn't even have anything to do with what I paid for it.. I know that I am very late to the party on this one. And that happened because I was always confused by the reviews; when I was trying to decide whether I needed it or not, especially as I have and love L' Argent, but upon my first wearing today, I am absolutely blown away and it has sincerely exceeded my expectations. Miss AP, has the DNA of the O.G, especially its sensuality; which the O.G is known for. This beauty is decadent and dark, but not heavy. And the rose is just sublime, in its supporting role. Its spicy, slightly aromatic and has the personality of someone whose very confident in their feminine charm, in an old world way. So Its none of that brash, in your face stuff. But still it has a place in the modern world. Thankfully, it is so well blended that the patchouli doesn't overwhelm the other notes. In fact its rather well behaved. And instead its the Ylang-Ylang, Rose 🌹 and the Bourbon Geranium that take the centre so nicely. Then there is the sandlewood, oh the sandlewood. The sandlewood in this is good quality and it gives it such a almost, creamy, warming woody tone. Which is almost like the backbone in this fragrance. I have concluded that this is a very grown up fragrance! But its not "mature" it just has an avant garde, old world mystique to it. And at the price its at now, I would grab it, if you don't already have it. As prices of its older sister L'Argent is steadily going through the roof, because of its discontinued status.

Miss AP is new to my collection. Indeed, it is similar to my favorite AP scent of all time, L’Agent. However, in a side-by-side comparison on skin, they’re quite different. They are both incensey, woody, and musky, with some sensual spice thrown in. L’Agent is spicier, darker, and more debauched (in the best way), while Miss AP’s floral heart stands out more, but never overpowers the composition. They are fragrance cousins, to be sure, but one beckons you while she sits upon elaborate cushions in an incense-filled, dimly lit room smoking hookah (L’Agent), and the other catches your eye in a more mundane setting, where she stands out as the most beautiful thing in sight by far (Miss AP). Both manage to strike a perfect balance between bedroom scents and everyday perfumes, and both are favorites in my collection, especially at their price point.

In the beginning, it's a strong incense on my skin ( I know it's not listed, I have a natural body odor similar to vanilla, and it magnifies incense and patchouli, and makes ylang-ylang incense like). The best part comes after 1-2 hours: a fairytale magic mushroom forest scent. Imagine a dark, damp, mysterious magic forest with strange glowing mushrooms and huge amounts of white flowers blooming everywhere in the darkness. I have L'agent too, and it is similar, but they are siblings not twins. AP is the younger sibling, filled with wonder, sweeter and lighter, L'agent is the older sexy sibling, more mature, dark and complex. I love both equally. Update: After a few months, I have to admit: I like AP more <3

Had a sample sent to me in my latest frag haul, gave it to my girl because its a female scent but dayum... I love it and I want it! and she wants a full bottle now. Ended up getting 2 full bottles. I love how it reminds me of Zino from Davidoff and Tom Ford Beau de jour EDP, odd but yes. it has rosewoody, patchully and oakmossy drydown. I love how its frisky and fresh and same time powerful and with depth, also reminds me of Tom Ford Beau de jour EDP. its a winner and for the price it goes for a champion. I haven't tried it on my own skin yet but I think men could pull it off as well.

I find the opening very woody. It smells masculine and too strong to be something I would wear. However, the drydown is gorgeous. It’s woody but more manageable, I can smell the rose and pepper. It balances out to become really sultry and feminine. It’s quite an unusual scent, I find something about it addictive. I would definitely say more appropriate for evening/winter. I think it’s a scent for a confident and powerful seductress - I’ve already bought another two bottles 😈

This is good. The more I wear it, the better it gets. I've never tried L'agent, but I really enjoy Miss Ap. Patchouli mixed with myrrh and velvety rose. A decadent combination, for sure. It is obviously a fragrance for colder weather, but give it a try on summer evenings and you'll experience its true magic. Warm, balsamic, ambery and oh so sexy. I've just ordered a back-up bottle for this beauty. Could last longer, though, but I won't complain considering its price point.

I love this. Initially it reminds me of obsession for women,then the ylang ylang becomes more pronounced. I noticed in the " this perfume reminds me of" section somone has put coco chanel. It does have some similarities , not a lot but i think they are along the same vein, also it makes me think of ysatis. I have a small purse spray and i might just get a big bottle, which i should have done insteadvof get maitresse which i havnt grown to love yet

I can't say I like it, but it is oddly attractive and unusual scent! Magical somehow! Update: I have figured it out - it's the ylang-ylang the prominent note here from the very beginning. And with time it transforms into the following notes from the pyramid - which are basically its derivatives (in an imaginary way) - rose, geranium, patchouli.

Smells rather like L’Agent mixed with Eau Premiere, teensy splash of Strip. Might be perfect for anyone who found L’Agent a bit too potent. Unisex. Very Agent Provocateur. Pink pepper in the opening makes me sneeze. Really nice powdery Iris/ylang/rose/iris/geranium with incense and amber. Just right. Lovely.

This smells 99% similar to L'Agent. When I spray L'Agent on one wrist and Miss AP on the other, I have to really concentrate to notice the difference. It's like instead of putting out a reformulated L'Agent, AP decided to release the reformulation under the new name Miss AP...something that I can appreciate.

all powdery goodness with some note I can't place that makes it unique like anise; notes supposedly are pink pepper, ylang, geranium, bourbon, rose, patch, sandalwood, amber; this has iris and orris in it for sure, very lipstick powdery with pepper and lots of ylang; just lovely

I do like this one. I also have L’Agent but find that Miss AP is better on me. It’s stronger and has more punch. I’d use this daily. Edit: I’ve gone and bought a back up bottle I like it that much. Smokey, woody, musky, spicy, rosey and warm. A really lovely scent.

An amazing gothic fragrance with a good sillage. I did not appreciate it immediately after purchasing it, but now I can say that the fragrance is super charismatic. Warm, smoky and somewhat bitchy. Reminds me of Black Orchid a little

I was able to score this one on eBay at an excellent price. It is very different from the original Agent Provocateur. To me the original is overwhelmingly musky and powdery. In Miss AP, the powdery accord is dialed back by about 90%. Only a touch of powder remains. Here is what I get from the perfume. Spice: The opening is quite spicy, in an almost masculine way. I think the spiciness comes from the geranium and pink pepper. The spiciness is mostly a warm spice, but it also has some fresh spice that packs some punch. Woods: The top accord listed for this perfume is "woody," and rightfully so. While the opening is all spice, but the dry down is woody, but retains some of the spice from the opening. I am 90 minutes into my wear, and I am mostly getting sandalwood with some patchouli. The sandalwood does not have that dry or pickle-y quality that many fragrances with a prominent sandalwood do. Patchouli: Sometimes, I can smell the base notes of a perfume within seconds of spraying it. I experienced that with the patchouli in this perfume. The patchouli in this is not that prominent, but its there. I cannot liken it the patchouli in other perfumes. Its not a dirty patchouli, nor it is a sweet one. Its slightly earthy with some spice. Yellow floral: I get a bit of a yellow floral scent from the ylang-ylang. It adds some complexity and keeps the fragrance from only smelling of woods, spices, and rose. Rose: I can smell the rose most after about 10 minutes a wear. It gives the fragrance a vintage feel in addition to the patchouli. It is dark and gothic, not jammy or sweet. This fragrance is more suited to a more mature wearer. I've been a fragrance junkie since 2021, and then got even deeper into it in 2023. I am 26, and I'm not sure if there is an occasion I would wear this. I'm usually someone who wears fragrance wherever I want, no matter the occasion. I don't believe in daytime fragrance vs nighttime, especially in cooler weather. I don't think I would wear this to work though. It's too polarizing. I would not have worn this during my sweet and youthful eras, or my gourmand era. I would've thought this smelled like an old lay a few years ago. Now, I can appreciate the complexity of a scent like this. I see this being worn by a woman in her 30s or older. A man who doesn't mind smelling a bit feminine could pull this off too without any problems due to the strong spices in the opening.

I was quite impressed with the original Agent Provocateur, and upon seeing comparisons between this scent and the likes of Amouage Lyric and Femininité du Bois, I had to try it. There are some similarities between it and Lyric in particular, despite this being about a twelfth of the price, as both are spicy rose scents. However, I find that Miss AP improves greatly as it progresses - I find the opening somewhat lacking, while Lyric is perfection throughout. Miss AP opens with thin, sweet ylang ylang, given a bit of spice by the pink pepper note, becoming somewhat smoky. It smells at its cheapest here - thin, verging on harsh. I thought that this scent was going to be a dislike for me based on its opening, but as it develops and the rose emerges, it transforms. The rose at the heart is rich and dark, bolstered beautifully by spicy notes. Green, peppery geranium adds a lovely aromatic undertone, complementing the rose beautifully. It is almost unisex here. A clove-like note creeps in, adding a warm, dark spiciness. A classic patchouli-rose accord develops after a little while, and it is lovely - beautifully balanced and high-quality. As it begins to dry down, it becomes woody and animalic, with remnants of rose, patchouli and spice. A nice leather accord emerges, and it fades eventually to a woody-amber skin scent. Performance is pretty decent - longevity is moderate-to-long, while sillage is moderate. Overall, Miss AP is a very nice spicy rose scent that belies its price, sultry and dark, featuring a rich, high-quality rose note at its heart. Could be unisex due to its combination of notes. Excellent, aside from its (thankfully brief) opening. 4/5.

Just recieved this in the mail today. First, I ADORE L'agent by AP. I was late to discover it and was only able to purchase a small 30ml bottle. Needless to say I have treasured it so much that I barely ever use it in fear that I will use it up. When I learned that many felt this was a re issue or reformulated version with a new name, I decided I NEEDED to have it! So, first impression....from the nozzle VERY similar to Lagent, damn near identical. I was ecstatic! Shortly after, I sprayed each wrist, one with L'Agent, the other with Miss AP. In the opening there is definitely a difference. Miss AP is much more floral than L'agent, lacking all that yummy myrrh and incense that I get right off the bat with L'Agent. Miss AP is also less sweet, less smoky. As it dries down it starts to resemble L'Agent alot more but still lacks the level of smoky resin incense of L'agent. It also does not have the sillage L'Agent has but does have the same longevity. Am I disappointed? Only slightly, but I knew going into it that the smoky notes are not in the formulation, even though that was my favorite thing about L'Agent. Overall, It's basically L'Agent with the florals amped up and the smokiness toned down. I will love this anyway and will enjoy it as it is the closest thing to L'Agent I have come across thus far. If I had smelled this without the side by side comparison, I may not have noticed much of the difference, but without comparing it, it is a solidly beautiful fragrance all on its own. I am ecstatically happy to have ordered the large 100ml bottle I managed to find for a steal at just $27. 😊

The AI reviewer compiler offers up, amid the pros, "charismatic with a touch of bitchiness," which is apt enough. I have Miss AP on my left hand, and I'm comparing it to Perles de Lalique on my right hand. They're in the same family of woody-peppery roses, but Miss AP is much more aromatic--whether it's the patchouli or the pepper, or some combination thereof, it makes my nose burn a little, in a refreshing/bracing kind of way--whereas Perles de Lalique is dryer, with a cedar note for the aromatic and (at least on my skin) a more prominent rose. It's hard to get rosy enough for my taste, but Miss AP gives equal billing to the geranium, and I like this note--a little spicy and autumnal, vegetal, a complement to fallen leaves and woodsmoke. I used to wear Coco by Chanel back in the late 1980s and early 90s, and I do smell a faint resemblance, although I'm not sure I would have noticed it without one of the earlier reviews. It's probably some combination of rose and clove that accounts for it. I think it's more similar to PdL, however, and of the two, I would have to give the edge to the Lalique (by Lorson). Still, I'm glad to have both. Miss AP has an interesting ylang-ylang accord that lends a sort of creamy depth to the woods, and there are even moments where it reminds me a little bit of my beloved Samsara during its sandalwood-centric drydown.

Based on the reviews, I was hoping for something fantastic and extraordinary, but alas I am a bit disappointed 😭 I've never smelled L'Agent (sadly) so I cannot compare the two. First impression is amber amber amber. Soon after I get the pink pepper and ylang... but it's a little screechy. On the drydown, I get a play-doh ylang woodiness with slight rose. Was hoping for more patchouli to add some earthiness to the blend; I really think that's what's missing to make this a star in my books. 1 spray is enough for me as sillage is a little wild. Lasts all day (and then some) when sprayed on my clothes as well. I like it but it's nothing super outstanding to me compared to other similar vintage-smelling perfumes. Could be because the OG AP perfume is in my top 5 so I set the bar pretty high lol. And yes, this does smell very vintage despite being released in 2019! Would not purchase as a blind buy unless you're already accustomed to both retro and mature scents. The bottle is absolutely gorgeous though and looks so pretty next to the OG AP.

It starts in a retro manner, I get a lot of ylang and carnations in the beginning. Then Miss AP develops into a gorgeous ylang-ylang that dries down to a woody amber later. I can't smell any incense on my skin but at the same time I get these sudden whiffs of spices and woody notes floating around when wearing it on my hair. Lovely! I wanted to get a bottle right away but couldn't find any deals available, hopefully it's not discontinued. I struggled to remember what it reminded me of and then I did - oddly enough, it was Jubilation 25 (W). Jubilation is more of a chypre but ylang is what this resemblance is born of, I guess. Can't see any similarity to A Portrait of a Lady. Lyric? Only the ylang-ylang part, perhaps, but I'd never compare these two frags.
