Royal Violets

This is the most valueable for the price that I've encountered. It's a bit over $5USD at my local pharmacy and is perfect for layering. It's pretty strong and very long lasting as stated in another review. I've only recently been exploring cheapies so I was so excited to find something so perfect. I catch the bit of almond that the other reviewer listed, but it's not so prominent that I could say this is a buy if the almond is a determining factor in your purchase. Absolutely worth the buy if you want to try it because $5 is barely a gamble.

It might sound weird to have a perfume that you only wear at home, but this scent is what I reach for when I am freshly showered and about to sit back and relax. Wearing it feels like part of my after-shower routine, it's so powdery and feels like the natural thing to apply after body lotion. I feel so clean and fresh, and the cologne, when clinging to my skin, envelops me softly. Would highly recommend, there is probably a layering potential here if I wanted to wear it out of the house

My Cuban husband turn me to this for our baby girl. It’s a subtle , powdery violet scent . I love spraying this cologne on her clothes and her bassinet . Usually can smell this on her clothes the next few days if you put your nose against it . But on skin no lasting power. I also spray this on because it’s so calming and it’s just so adorable because it’s just a scent my baby and I share, along with this other one from Natura.

Definitely THE Cuban scent. Reminds me of my grandmother but in a good way. I love how old fashioned it smells, powdery, clean, and floral. I just wish it lasted longer on the skin. I mostly use this as a splash after I shower and get ready for bed, since I know it won't last long

One of my long time old favorites!!!! I've been wearing this light powdery violet perfume since I was little and its so perfect for spring and summer!! Depending on where you live this can be hard to find. The bodegas in my area have this anywhere from $7-10!!!

Strangely enough, this is my most complimented fragrance. I didn’t wear it as a child and have no nostalgia for it, but it smells soft, pretty, and comfortable. I love to mix this with dolce and Gabbana light blue or glossier you.

This is just so soft and lovely. If this is what straight up violets smell like, then I have been missing out. I could see anyone of any age (even young children) wearing this. It is powdery, soft and floral.But something about it is a teeny bit masculine when you first put it on. I don't see this as a bad thing. To me this makes if feel less dated or vintage. It is also quite perfect for layering. I don't usually layer my scents but today I paired it with Saint by Kat Von D (2017 version) and it is so very delicate and pretty. I love this combo! I can't wait to wear this in the spring (solo or layered) and smell like a charming garden. I'm gonna have to buy an atomizer bottle first because this one is huge and awkward to use.

I love violets, so when I saw a bottle on Mercari for under $2, I had to have it. This is plain, super-clean violet with a very delicate powder background. It lasts about 45 minutes for me as an extreme skin scent. My favorite way to use it is to pour a bit in a warm bath- I can smell it for about half an hour there. This isn't quite my ideal violet, so I'm not sure I'll buy another bottle when I run out. But if you like violet and want something super-light, it's well worth a try!

This is the perfect watery, transparent violet perfume that I used to introduce my kids to the world of fragrances. It is simple, pleasant, soft but bright, innocent and happy. Royal Violetas fades quickly which is perfect for my young kids. It is great in any season. I always have a bottle of this gem even though my kids have now moved on to more complex perfumes. It is now nostalgic and a part of the family.

This does NOT smell like powdery violets. It is very woody. The top is a blast of alcohol. This is not powder, not Meteorites and NOT NOT NOT Shalimar. What is that person smelling? There is no citrus or vanilla in this. This is very earthy and maybe like violet stems and leaves. It quickly is a skin scent.

Royal Violets. The smell of innocence and perfection. A versatile scent; can be worn to bed, to the gym or out to dinner. Royal Violets is a personal scent and will not project past your immediate sphere.

Soft fresh powdery nursery smell. But appropriate for adults as an after bath splash. Adult and baby versions smell identical to me. I like to spray it on my linens.

So I’m starting my son early on fragrances and had heard this was a quintessential baby cologne. Wow, this is so feminine - so feminine I felt like I could not put it on my son. Listen, I’m don’t adhere strongly to gender roles and wear male scents myself sometimes, but it was just too much. I don’t know how other people put this on little boys. The scent itself is very strong floral (rather than sweet) violet. It’s just straight up floral, not even very powdery or soft, it’s just abrasive in-your-face-violet. It does have amazing longevity, I’ll give it that. Overall not a win, especially for a male child, but I can see why some older people might like it especially for the price point.

Smells exactly like Shalimar except it's a bit lighter.

Not so much violets per se, but an impression of violets... or should I say a vivid recollection of what violets-could-be inspired impression. A wonderful, soft, languid, enveloping picture. One cannot help but feel a certain wistfulness within... a melancholic nostalgia even - especially knowing its history harkening back to a lost place & time. Now violets, famously having an elusive, faint scent to begin with, don't exactly lend themselves to bottling. What I do smell here, quite plainly, is Ylang-ylang, Coumarin, and a smattering of the Oakmoss (or Treemoss, in this case) which are even printed as ingredients on the box. I dare say there's a touch of Carnations, too, in the mix. Definitely reminds me of old school barber shoppe vibes, but I can also see the oft cited "cosmetics powder" feel, too. Genderless. Ageless. Classic. And just plain good. I know from experience just what a position of affection & esteem this holds in Cuban diaspora households. A fragrance I've been lucky to know of all my life - it's easy to see how well beloved it has been and continues to be. Personally, I enjoy it before bed on its own as it's very comforting, or layered with Orientals and Fougeres in the day & evening for additional depth & smoothness. Pairs well with sandalwood, lavenders, and vanillics to me - amongst others. And at 150ml for all of £5... an incredible, quality piece of soon-to-be 100 year old tradition. An indispensable and gloriously inexpensive petit luxury once it becomes a part of one's soothing régimen de toilette. I've never tried the Body Mist nor spray offerings, only the classic splash. Quite an intimate skin scent, of course, though it lasts the night extraordinarily well for an Eau de Cologne! and re-envelops for one last calming embrace beneath a morning shower. For what it is at the price it can be had for I can only give it high marks! it's nice to know some simple, tasteful traditions carry on to this day with integrity. ★★★★☆

Orginal name was Violetas Rusas. Simple violet cologne, rather traditional. Royal Violets is available everywhere alongside the Hispanic products in any grocery store or pharmacy. Violets are the only note listed, but having worn this off and on for the past ten years, I can attest that there is an almond note in there as well. Perhaps it's coumarin. With that being said. Royal Violets is a beast for longevity; it lasts and lasts. One would expect it to be fleeting, given that it's an inexpensive eau de cologne, but one would be wrong. It persists. Sometimes it gets to be too much; don't overspray on the assumption that this is "light." It's not. At first it's soft and powdery, but it builds strength as time passes. Best for cold weather. Could be worn by a man, especially a man in a pale gray suit. The nose is Agustin Francisco Reyes. His grandson maintains a website that explains some of the heritage of this scent. According to the grandson, Royal Violets "is truly the cologne of the Cuban people." agustinreyes.com is the site; it's worth a look if you enjoy learning about a cologne with a rich past.

My review is for the contemporary American "adult" version in 5 oz. glass. Royal Violets is a bit more artistic in execution than I thought it would be (I had assumed it would be a sweet one-note candy violet, which would be fitting for babies). It's worth noting that there's real ylang oil in the formula, as stated in the ingredients list on the side of the box. I can smell it - ylang is nearly impossible to disguise, and it makes me wonder why it wasn't called "Royal Ylang" instead. This plays as an abstract essay on ylang to me, with all the honeyed and crisp verdancy of that yellow Asian flower. Its coumarin-cushioned narcotic glow is tempered by the silvery peek-a-boo of violet flower, a hint of peppery gasoline coolness that lends a countervailing seriousness to the composition. I was expecting a Grandma Moses and instead got a Stuart Davis. Shocking this stuff isn't more widely known outside of Miami.

Ive been wearing this since I was very little as it is marketed as a baby cologne, I still wear it a lot after showers going to bed but I usually only wear it out during winter as it has always reminded me of christmas. Another review mentioned that they smelled cinnamon and clove I realize this is probably the reason it smells like christmas time to me. Unlike their negative review I have always loved this scent its a powder puffed dream that has a lot of warmth, pairs good with vanillas in the winter, but it makes me feel clean and cozy after a shower going to bed I love to put it on, it smells like a cabbage patch kid.

If you're looking for a lovely light Violet fragrance get Berdoues 1902 Violette Eau de Cologne. That scent is perfectly pure, pretty violets. This one has cinnamol or some type of clove/cinnamon oil in it that really turns me off from it. I was not expecting that note in this fragrance as it's supposed to be 100% violets and clove and violets do not go together, imo. I'm glad it was only $6.

Not my favorite Violet cologne scent. I ordered it online. A slightly burned scent to it. "Agua de Violetas" is very popular among Latin folks. Back in my home city of Miami you can get numerous brands of this at any CVS, Target, Walmart, etc. I was surprised how rare this actually is everywhere else I have lived.

Extremely astringent for a violet fragrance. Smells like someone steeped a few violet candies in plastic jug vodka. I can’t believe people put this on babies! It’s too harsh for adult skin. If you want a soft violet baby cologne, Affa Violetas Francesas is the one.

When I lived in Miami, this was/is the traditional Cuban baby fragrance! My.kids wore this (and Para Mi Bebe)...brings back great memories!

I have to say, Royal Violets was my very first fragrance. It's the scent that started my fragrance journey.
