#154 of My Fragrance Journey - Ahmed Al Maghribi Kaaf: The freshie that actually sticks around long enough to matter Kaaf's got this quality where it feels like it's caught somewhere between morning light and open water - sounds a bit much written out like that, but that's genuinely the sensation. Opens with lavender, airy, none of that sharp fougère bites you sometimes get. Sicilian orange comes in alongside it, a thin trace of watermelon, and some soft red fruit underneath keeping it warm without tipping into heavy. From there it doesn't really deepen so much as spread out. Lotus and lily of the valley soften things further; jasmine adds a clean brightness without turning into a full floral statement. There's a sea note running through all of it too - not crashing-wave stuff, more like a breeze passing over water. Gives it this calm, clear feeling rather than emptiness, and underneath that you've got white musk, sandalwood, and ambroxan holding the whole light structure together. Where Kaaf really earns its keep is just staying power. Strong projection those first couple hours, then it settles into something clean and consistent that runs 8 to 10 hours - which honestly surprised me for something this light. A lot of fragrances this airy tap out way before that. I'll be honest, it's pretty linear once it settles. No real twists after the opening, no big reveal three hours in. Depends what you're after - some people want that reliability for daily wear, others are going to want more happening as it develops. Technically it performs well, decent sillage, leaves a clean trail behind you. If I'm being picky, it does sit close to that elevated shower-gel territory - crisp, fresh, easy to wear, and a purist might catch a whiff of deodorant in there somewhere. But the performance and the refinement lift it past your average freshie, I think. Works best as an everyday thing - warm days, office, casual weekends, anywhere you want fresh without it being loud about it. Not reinventing aquatics by any means, but it does the genre properly, and that lasting power alone puts it ahead of most in its category. Vibe: Morning light dissolving into open water. Soft horizons. Cool air carrying warmth that hasn't quite arrived yet. Performance: Strong out the gate, then settles into a clean, steady presence for 8 to 10 hours - impressive for something this light. Fit: Warm days, bright offices, slow weekends - anywhere you want fresh to feel expansive rather than shouted. I can't believe how badly some people are trashing this frag in the reviews below. To my nose, this is a fresher take on Percival, but even better smelling. I got a 10ml decant, so it was likely from a fully matured bottle. It opens with a beautiful deep Watermelon Jolly Rancher and berry vibe, over some aquatics with some light florals. It smells both fruity and green in the opening. As it dries down and enters into the mids, the fruits and green notes start to fade and the the florals and wood come through. As it fully dries down it's floral and woody with a nice light white musk. It's perfectly balanced I my opinion. I compared it with Percival yesterday, one on each wrist and it's further from Percival than my memory had served me. They both smell synthetic in the opening, but the dry down on this is much more natural smelling in my honest opinion. I think this is a much better fragrance. I couldn't believe how much more I preferred this. It's very hard for me to find fresh scents that I enjoy, but I am completely enamored with this one. Longevity is great, for a fragrance of this style: it easily pushed around 10 hours on skin, much longer on clothing. It develops very nicely on my skin, where I found it to stay much more linear on clothing. Projection is very good for the first 3-4 hours, it is long lasting but it isn't ever loud or obnoxious like some other frags (Dumont Nitro Red, I'm looking at you!) This seems like a highly versatile fragrance, I wore it in the cold yesterday and it was very pleasant, but obviously it will shine in warmer weather. I would label this as unisex, leaning a little masculine. The late dry down has shades of the ladies version of Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue Eau Intense, and I'm not mad about that! All in all, I was truly blown away by this fragrance, it has it all. It's definitely earned a spot in my top 10, which is one of the first freshies to ever make the list (the only other one is BDC EDP, but I honestly prefer this.) 93/100

First things first: I'm sorry, but anyone who says this is a Percival dupe has either never smelled Percival or are just lying to themselves because they would rather believe their $30 dupe gives them the same experience as an expensive high end niche fragrance instead of just a relatively cheap, easily accessible mall scent that every other dude wore back in the day. Saying this as someone who unabashedly will forever be an early 2000s mall douche at heart - Percival is in my top 3 favorites all-time and Fierce was a common wear for me throughout my teenage and early 20s years. Percival and Kaaf may share a common heritage of Fierce, but to say Kaaf is a dupe of Percival is a big stretch. Off my soapbox now. That all being said, Kaaf is incredible and one of my favorite fragrances in my collection. It has survived a pivot I've made to buying smaller decants of designer and niche fragrances instead of throwing my money away blind buying countless cheap dupes, which I would never come close to using in my lifetime. It's pretty potent being an extrait and very long lasting - cannot speak to how much it projects but I'm guessing not incredibly well due to the oil concentration. Can confirm what others have mentioned about leaving a very visible sheen of oil on the skin after you spray. To my nose it's a touch cleaner and maybe a touch sweeter than Fierce, which IMO leans more into the woody / aromatic side. This slight difference as well as the fact that it's performance is way better than Fierce makes me love it that much more. But it's unmistakably cut from that classic Fierce cloth, so I could see it being somewhat of a polarizing fragrance (might trigger olfactory memories for anyone who walked within 100 yards of an Abercrombie back in the day). IMO it's a great daily scent for any season and so long as you don't overdo it, I'd consider it to be office-friendly, as well. Just a great classic fresh clean scent - smells like a dude who has his life together.

Lovely, especially for the warm weather and gym, a very easy, no thought option! Nice quality, great longevity and a decent sillage and projection. Because of the high oil content it's doesn't choke out the surrounding area but when you warm up due to the sunshine or because you are working out, Kaaf is very noticeable in and around your arms length bubble. It never really becomes a skin scent until the next day, crazy performance for the price. The actual scent is very pleasant. lavender, florals, musk and a dose of ambroxan to push through the oily elixir and give a nice lift. Actually quite a versatile scent. I could easily see a younger person wearing this out to a club and wouldn't shy away from wearing it myself when out for a bite to eat in the evening, I'm a (Just into) middle age man with my noisy days behind me.....mostly. 😆 I think this could even be worn to work for the right person, it'll certainly see you through the day and home. Although primarily a fragrance for warmer days I can't really see any reason why you couldn't wear it anytime except perhaps if there is snow and ice on the ground! Definitely unisex but the guys in my gym seem to like it very much. In fact, one of the other members liked it so much that he got out his phone and bought it there and then. It's a little similar to a few other offerings out there but at the end of the day this is absolutely solid for the price and out performs all the other offerings that Kaaf resembles I can think of! It's definitely improved over time too. So please allow for it to deepen, improve and smooth out even further after purchase, not that it needs it! I would definitely recommend this to someone with just a few fragrances, decent collection or anyone who just wants a reliable, strong performing and great all round scent.

Kaaf Review First impression? Honestly the opening did smell a bit synthetic to me at first. I was like “ah yes, another fresh perfume trying too hard.” BUT give it some time and the dry down becomes absolutely gorgeous. That’s where the magic starts. Kaaf to me smells like: ocean breeze white shirt luxury soap expensive theatre/Mall AC air It smells REALLY clean and very well put together in the air. Not the most complex scent ever made, but somehow it just works everywhere. And I mean EVERYWHERE. College, outings, random errands, heat, indoors — this thing just adapts. Now let’s talk about the performance because this thing was genuinely ridiculous when I first got it. 4 sprays and it would radiate the entire day. Not “lasts long if I sniff my wrist closely” performance. I mean actual AURA. My professor literally told me I smelled like an expensive theatre 😭 and honestly that’s the best description of Kaaf. The dry down is easily the best part. Smooth airy musky freshness that keeps floating around you. People may not always notice it up close, but in the air? Beautiful. One warning though: THIS THING CAN STAIN SHIRTS 😭 The oil concentration is no joke. Don’t close spray on light coloured clothes unless you want your fragrance to leave a permanent autograph. Ratings: Scent: 6.5/10 Projection: 10/10 Longevity: 9.5/10 Uniqueness: Depends where you live honestly, around me nobody smells like this. Would I rebuy? Probably not anytime soon because one bottle feels like it’ll survive multiple governments and generations. Overall: Kaaf isn’t trying to smell ultra luxurious or niche. It just smells CLEAN, airy, fresh and ridiculously pleasant in the air. And honestly? Sometimes that’s exactly what you want.
