Dahn Al Oudh Amiri

Preface: I brought this perfume under the assumption that this is just Dahn Al Oud (i.e, just oud oil,) but I believe the notes are not listed correctly here and on Ajmal's own website either. Because, based on different regions of Ajmal's website, the notes are listed different that too just in description. For example, Ajmal's Qatar website lists that it has other notes in this as well, like citrus, cinnamon, floral, oud, sandalwood & amber and where as their UAE website just states its an oud that's been matured for over 20 years. With that said I want to make it clear this is still not Mukkhallat either. It still leans heavily towards Dahn Al Oud. My experience: On my skin opens with a dry yet smooth barnyard woodsy note, like a classical Hindi (Indian) oud note. And after a while it settles into a almost jammy lemon oil scent with a lighter barnyardy oud in the background. Conclusion: That lemony scent in the end was a spin I didn't expect and I now understand why it's called Amiri. Overall pretty decent, could be used as a summer oud oil. Update: Layered this with Ajmals Amir one perfume. (Cuz why not?they have the same name) and this oud oil makes so much more sense now. This was a match made in heaven! They both have citrus in their scent profile and that allows them to blend in very well. Truly enjoyed it like this.

In terms of versatility, Dehnal Oud Amiri leans traditional. If you’re new to oud, it might feel a bit strong at first. But for oud enthusiasts or anyone who appreciates authentic Arabian perfumery, it’s a rewarding experience. Layer with Mukhallat Shams for best results. From the first application, this fragrance delivers a deep, luxurious oud note that immediately feels bold and regal. The oud here is not overly harsh or medicinal it’s smooth, slightly sweet, and refined, making it more wearable than many raw oud oils. As it settles, subtle woody and slightly smoky nuances emerge, adding depth and complexity without overpowering the senses.

I bought this blind. It was recommended by a respected Oud specialist YouTube reviewer, perfume guru. He said it was on par with artisanal Ouds. This is one of the most unique Oud’s that I have smelt. It is challenging in the sense that the barnyard funk never really goes away. It takes a long time to “settle”. But when it does I get notes of hay and citrus. Specifically lemon. It’s different from your typical Hindi oud in that sense. I’ve yet to actually wear it outside my house yet. Maybe because of the challenging opening.
