Dahn Al Oudh Ruyah

Based on the taco review, who lives by negative reviews by his/her admission, I must sample this. Love Ajmal's ouds!

Fragrance Description Ingredient : Mixture of Indian and Cambodian Oudh A Glorious blend of oud! Dah Al Oudh Ruyah opens wild and feral. It is funky and animalic, very strong and tough in typical Indian Oud fashion. I notice a leather note underneath the Oud. I love to wear oud especially Cambodians, depending on where it is from they smell fruity, woody, plummy, and tropical. Here this Indian Oud with funky animalic nuances can't be tamed by the fruity Cambodian Oud. I notice the fruity aspect from the Cambodian on my skin. It is a supporting character here not distracting from the powerful Indian. I am not articulate enough to explain all of the nuances of both Indian and Cambodian Ouds on my skin. After wearing this a few times, I can tell that it goes from greasy funky, to leathery to a hint of fruit. The staying power is unbelievable, lasting all day and at first sillage seems overwhelming eventually calms down hovering a few inches above skin. My favorite thing to do is spray Tom Ford's Champaca Absolute on top of this. I think it is a dreamy blend of rich, wild florals and deep, intense oud.

Well I own Dehn Al Oud Shams and I can confirm it is strong... Not the strongest I have, nor the longest, but strong. Very good projection, very good longevity. I'd like to mention that the opening to mid is sour, very sour. I don't mind but it's good to know. Then the drydown is a pleasant wood that most actually like. Nothing funky here any more, nothing animalic. That all goes to the top and mid. Good, real perfume and I'm glad that I own it. Mark

This is somewhat similar to Dahn Oudh al Shams, but much gentler. The funk-level is lower, and it doesn't project nearly as much as al Shams. Even though the projection is low, the longevity is good. The smell is initially not that much different from al Shams, but soon sweet and leathery cambodian oud takes away the harshness and leads to a pleasant experience.
