Mukhallat Dahn Al Oudh Moattaq

one of the most beautiful mukhalats by far... a MUKHALAT means a mixture..or a BLEND ... each perfumery has many mukhalats or mixtures or blends specific to their noses ! a mukhalat is a traditional mix of certain notes used since antiquity.. each region has its preferences in choosing what proportions to use in their mukhalats.. but generally speaking all mukhalats contain ROSE.. MUSK.. AMBER.. OUD.. AND MAYBE SAFFRON.. depending on the proportions used and the types of oud or musks or ambers makes all the difference ! i perosnally enjoy wearing mukhlats because they are alot more wearable ..than pure ouds ..which tend to be sometimes offensive to the non oud users.. mukhalats can easily be worn by all people ..from all over the world ..they are just blends of different notes.. beautiful resiny smokey honey like facets.. in small quantities this works as an excellent base for layering ..it adds amazing longevity and silage.. now about this iconic mukhalat i am glad to see it being added to the database i have this stunning bottle which comes in a stunning crystal falcon and an impressive wooden box amazing for displays it also looks exactly like its oud sister which costs a whopping 1000 us $ this costs one third of that and smells amazing .. this bottle easily lasts a decade or a lifetime despite its small quantity ! the name is a bit misleading for for non oud users don't be afraid when reading OUD it has very little oud so the final smell is more of a fine frenchy/mideastern type of oud rose concoction.. it has rose.. musk.. amber.. a bit of non fecal non barnyard.. sweet molasses like oud.. and some tiny amounts of saffron and maybe ambergris or an ambery honeyed accords it blooms of floral ambery goddess its stunning in cool weather it lasts for days on clothes and hair.. it truly envelops one in velvety dreamy 10001 nights goddess as if it transports one to the mysterious nights of arabian nights if you smelled the sahara lie by guerlain the desert one his has some facets from these and layers stunningly with them its round full melow velvety sweet smokey ethereal its sophisticated and fine and has a round fulness a honeyed like almost sweet floral facet its warm yet enticing and uplifting its not a dull accord its a deep mesmerising mukhalat fit for a princess !

This is a reward for the patients. For western noses it will be challenging for, at least, the first couple of hours. After that, it's just pure joy. When the perfume is first sprayed, in addition to the animalic attribute of the oud, there's a strong medicinal aspect for a considerable amount of time and this could be the most offputing nuance for most noses, in my opinion. After this medicinal smell dissapears, it's all about a very dry animalic leather and beautiful roses. Maybe a bit of amber and musk when you smell it very close. I love how the darkness of oud and the brightness of roses is combined in this beauty. Overall it's a very simple composition, however, the exquisite blending and high quality ingredients creates a pretty complex and gorgeous smell. Stunning bottle. It lasts 12+ hours on my skin. Projection and sillage are modest, but to be honest, I don't think you need more than that. Ajmal is becoming my favourite brand when it comes to oud.

On card this smells very similar to Mukhallat Al Shams and Khallab, but on the skin there's really a huge difference. I love them all, but this one has a sort of fizziness to the oud, and then a dark, petrol facet to the (other?) oud, and the rose is more prominent yet more delicate than in the other two. I can definitely perceive different types of oud in here, and they don't resemble the more common Ajmal oud I'm used to. This perfume more restrained, more regal, more refined than the others mentioned above. It's absolutely wonderful, and if you want a rose + real oud which doesn't smell like anything else and doesn't cost an arm and a leg this is possibly your holy grail scent.

Loving this one. It's a quintessential Arabic fragrance. I don't get any funk in this though. It is a stunning mukhallat in my opinion. Sillage and projection are beyond your average designer fragrance. Though it reminds me of Oud Mukhallat (oil) from the same house, this is more refined and regal. I get excellent longevity and the drydown is a lingering smokey woody ambery rose. Just wow! I think many reviews for this gem are on a different page and the votes here are not reflective.

I love rose oud combos and this one is different than most. You can tell the oud is animalic but not in a stinky way. It has an underlying rose sweetness that is not overly sweet that takes over the entire scent. The scent evolves alot and if you can get it under 150$ then it is a steal for the quality. The scent trail it leaves is very majestic and will for sure turn heads. 9.5/10
