Dahn Al Oudh Moattaq

This review is for Mukhallat Dahn Al Oudh Moattaq, in the 60ml EDP bottle. MDAOM opens very strong with an oud note that instantly dominates the composition. It is pungent and animalic displaying the dirty, untamed, wild perspective of this magnificent ingredient. The rose note along with soft woods plays a discreet role in the background achieving successfully to keep this wild animal into its cage. This taming of the oud as the perfume progresses, in combination with dry herbal notes and mild spices, offers a very warm masculine exotic woody vibe that stays close to the wearer for hours. I do not have the knowledge nor the experience to understand whether this mukhallat contains aged oud or not, but this perfume has undoubtedly been a whole new experience for me. It required an open mind, several wearings and a receptive attitude to finally appreciate the opening's animalic attack, later followed by the ingenious smooth transition to the musky warm and sensual confident drydown. MDAOM is generously presented in an impressive and heavy glass bottle with a luxurious cap mechanism. A wonderful discovery. 8.5/10

The 18 ml perfume oil is a really lovely rose oud combo that is very unisex and long lasting. It's a real perfume, starts out barnyardy but quickly segues into one of the more complex and interesting of the rose ouds as the rose is not sweet at all and in combination with the oud creates a bewitching aura. The medicinal aspect of the oud works well with the rose to create an opulent effect, by which I mean it has depth and texture. The 6 ml oil is pure oud, there is no rose. It's a medicinal woody oud, starts out a little barnyardy with complex aromas, then creates a powerful medicinal woody aura. It skews masculine, also extremely long lasting and powerful, its effect goes on for hours. I think I prefer the former however my husband seems to enjoy and appreciate both. I prefer Oud Al Jazaab for a medicinal oud as it is warmer and has a gorgeous floral phase that is quite special.

Pure aged fermented Indian Oud oil. Rich, deep and very pleasing. As already said below, the picture and note pyramid are for another fragrance. Dahn Al Oudh Moattaq is a top offering from Ajmal. This very fine quality aged and fermented Oud oil comes 6ml in this hand cut crystal bottle. Pure unadulterated Indian oudh oil done the traditional way. A small amount, I first used two swipes and was overwhelmed, will do. This opens with a blast of dark unsweetened chocolate, traces of wild black horses, bales of hay stacked in the stable's loft as the sun sets on the countryside. It's warm and inviting and totally unapologetic.

I bought it aged years ago.. Its double aged now lol Its the best pure aged Oud in the market.. The listed notes are wrong, they are for Mukhallat Dahn Al Oudh and not for Dahn Al Oudh Moattaq, this one is the pure Oud

I don’t know much oud quality but this is one perfume that will satisfy your craving for good oriental frag ... way better than mancera/montales!! P.S. there are many similar frags like this but this feels richer.

Ajmal revealed the world of oud for me with this and other scents. It lasts 48h and changes completely several times during that period.

Dahn Al Oud Moattaq (not mukhallat) Pure oud scent, no flowers, no spices...... In my experience, this is what people refer to as Indian or hindi oud; dark, leathery, horses, hay.....I find there is also a bit of a sweetness as well. Despite the horse descriptor, I do not find this fecal. I have many oud oils and when I want to wear oud and cannot decide, I'll often wear Moattaq. Lasts a very long time, especially on cloth and hair. Actually, in hair it will stay noticeable even after washing but with a more smoky sweetness. It is a comforting oud for me.

I have a sample of this and I think it's wonderful. It's slightly sweet and slightly musky, although I don't smell floral notes.

I had been umming and aahing about this for quite some time when I found a bottle on ebay for a song. I have tried to stop blind buying because it is an impulsive decision made on marketing shpiel and not on the reality of my experience of a juice, but I have been mostly very pleased with Ajmal fragrances and thought to give this the benefit of the doubt. However, I am a bit dissappointed. Not by the bottle, which is truly gorgeous and looks like a precious jewel, but by the juice. Not because it doesn't contain real oud (it does) but because it is practically an eau fraiche!!!!!! You put it on and within minutes the damn thing has dissapeared!!!!! On skin, on fabric, on me, on others, its so short lived and that makes me a bit cross - I like my fragrances to have personality and be present in the room and with me throughout the day, not abscond at the first instance before I even leave the house. It *does* return though should you find yourself working up a sweat, but at that hot sweaty point, you wouldn't WANT to smell oudhy so it isnt a welcome return. So I'll let you know a little about it for the brief period you can notice it after you first put it on. Yes, the first thing to hit you is the Ajmal oud, which if you love oudh will please you infinitely, if you are new to oudh it will revile and compel you, and if you hate oudh this will smell like dookie and rotten teeth. It gets sour and odd, with undisclosed indian herbs tempering it and adding a freshness, and after a few minutes a really odd and perculiar rose comes into focus, a bit at a time as if on a gameshow a small square of a bigger picture is revealed square by square until you guess what it is. This is a green rose if ever there was such a thing, or maybe a rose seen through or made of green glass but as soon as you work out that the picture being revealed is a rose, it disappears. This isnt an especially complex composition, but rather the quality of the components is high. It is quite pleasant really, if you can forgive the sour redolence, but it lasts for such a short time. It feels as if all these ideas at the opening sequence are about to pull themselves together and reveal themselves combined into one entity of incredible beauty and reveal after reveal more mysteries and understanding and payoff, but rather just as it starts to make sense it has GONE. If you want a proper Oud that lasts (and lasts and lasts and keeps on giving) then go for the Dehn Al Oudh AL Shams or even the Mukhallat Al Shams (both by Ajmal) you will get a MUCH better bang for your buck. This is pleasant, but not the exquisite masterpiece of longevity, power, and beauty that I had been hoping for.

I agree with ocean.lake. I own a 60 ml EDP bottle of Mukhallat DAOM. The stunning crystal bottle is nothing like what I have seen before. The bottle is so beautiful that the picture above doesn't do justice to the bottle. Now for the golden juice inside. This is mainly aged oud. Moattaq, I read somewhere is aged oud. The oud/rose here is unlike what we find in west oriented oud/rose perfumes. This one is fuller, rounder and gives an authentic vibe of oud. Rose, initially plays a lesser role here but its very much there. Rose smells lively and not flat as in most other rose/oud perfumes. I also got musk and little bit of amber. The star of this one, oud doesn't smell synthetic but very real and sort of raw ( in a good way) This one is animalic but the gorgeous rose tames everything and makes it wearable. The oud felt little sticky and pungent but in a good way. Oud mellows down slowly as the scent progresses. I strongly recommend this one. But the corollary rule is to try any perfume twice before buying.

Pure and nice quality Indian oud distilled for a longer period of time that often results in a darker colour and character of the oil ( on pic here you see the mukhallat, the oud should be almost black colour oil in identical but smaller flacon) . Soft and milky chocolate opening. Warm, sweet, delicious. This is of-course if you are in to fermented Indian ouds. If not - warm cow dung =) - try some of their mukhallats first. Some smoky nuances making it kind of incensy and giving a nice twist to the aroma. After several hours expect the scent to transform in to a very soft and resinous aroma of Indian agarwood chips gently heated on a charcoal. Lovely experience and a stunning bottle!

to me, the pyramids above indicates for the other Ajmal perfume, which is the Mukhallat Dahn Al Oudh Moattaq, presented with the identical hand-cut crystal bottle. Mukhallat DAOM is the blend or mixture of aged Indian oud with turkish rose oil and exotic Indian herbs. Middlenote exudes ambery and woody feel with the base culminating in musky powdery and soft-animalic vibe. If you are looking for the straight refined aged oud, then DAOM is the right choice. while Mukhallat DAOM is perfect for those who seek a more complex oud scent blended with other notes.

I tested it on skin in store the other day. I was expecting something wow but i was letdown. There's nothing special about it's scent. Also it didn't last more than 3 hours on my skin with intimate projection. I'm surprised how people hype it to be a regal scent, a masterpiece etc. It's far from that. It has one of the classic rose oud profiles and smells ok. Nothing special. Just because a fragrance has real oud in it doesn't qualify it as a great fragrance. Rest of the fragrance composition matters too!

Tried it after reviews by youtuber friend nikhilsfrags . Initially i found the oud to be medicinal but got used to it just after 3-4 wearings . Oud here is not very woody resinous but medicinal sweet and subtle . Its decent oriental oud rose scent . However i dont think the oud used in this is high quality like it says moattaq oud . Longevity is 4-5 hours max. Not full bottle worthy for me . But definitely worth a try.

I'm sure this is not for anyone. It starts rough but i've never in my fragrance addiction smelt a fragrance that changes so much. All of a sudden the beautiful rose,musk,ambergris and oud creates such a beautiful scent. I have a lot of oud oils and I'm sure this contains some natural Indian oud. This is a love or hate fragrance. For me it's pure love!

Simply magnificent. So rich and luxurious. Something which has the touch of oriental magic like Roja Dove s diaghilev but is far superior in its blend and appeal. Ajmal is the king of Oud. Period.
