Saffron

Ajmal Saffron smells exactly as the color of the bottle... if that makes sense. It's a beautiful deep dark red fragrance. It opens with a strong and slightly funky oud, rose and a fruity nuance. The oud will dominate for the first hour before giving way to other elements. Rose is and will be there, but in second place. After a while, a nice saffron comes out for about 2 hours, a bit sweet and not sharp at all. Its behavior is strange playing a sort of hide and seek, because it never become obvious, which it's a plus. The crowning stroke is... the pineapple. I always try to take my time and analize my fragrances without reading the notes to push my poor knowledge, but I couldn't understand this one until I read the pyramid. It's so juicy and - in my mind - so out of place that it shouldn't work, but somehow it's flawless. Unexpected. The dry down is marvelous. The oud and saffron creates this deep velvety aura with a touch of rose and the juiciness of the pineapple. Lovely fragrance indeed. I understand the comparison with Faqat lil Rijal from Rasasi, but they are not the same. FLR is way more floral and bright, cleaner, muskier and linear. Meanwhile, Ajmal Saffron is more natural, fruity, darker and with better quality ingredients. You can say they are brother and sister. Not redundant at all. Performance is excellent. +12 hours on my skin. Projection is moderate and sufficient for this type of fragrances. A booze-soaked fruit-salad (real fruit plus davana, no candy sweetness) sits on top of some burning oud, with the cashmeran used to mellow out the scent and give a creamy element. The cypriol is not too apparent to me yet but I've only been wearing it for 20 minutes. And of course the star, the saffron. It's both strong and reserved, providing a leathery darkness to the fruity oud. The purely orient line are all up there as my top perfumes. Even the weaker ones are incredible perfumes. Nothing will beat Tonka for me, but this is certainly a wonderful perfume. Ah OK, yes. After a while it does resemble The Moon quite a bit, but I prefer this. I find the aggressive amberwoods in The Moon very tedious. There's none of that here. Update: I started to find this one a bit generic and less interesting than the other PO line scents until I wore it on a sweltering hot day. Counter-intuitively it's amazing in the heat!

I love this. Great full saffron with an almost mouthwatering raspberry/pineapple top. I have a hard time picking up on the rose, I mostly get the leather, saffron, and bright fruits. No, this is NOT a tropical gourmand, the fruit creates this super addictive sourness that bounces between the oud, amber, leather and saffron. She's loud and we love her for that. Glad to have found a bottle of this beauty for a great price.

I own this already. Tried at Exscence in Milan, I immediately liked it. It’s a Saffron:/Oud bomb, quite a barnyard smell comes off right in your face. Rose and some fruits arrove at a later stage. Well blended. Mostly synthetic. Average sillage and projection. 8 hrs longevity. I have managed to get the bottle on display for a reasonable price.

50% similar & alternative to Eau Rihla by Diptyque due to the raspberry/Saffron top notes & replace leather with oud. If I had not smelled Eau Rihla, I'd probably buy this. But still worth purchase for a certain budget

My sample smells a lot like Faqat Lil Rijal. Great smell but surprisingly weak, which is also like the Rasasi. If I sniff the skin I smell some sweet fruity white musk with the Faqat-like notes. Ajmal does have an amazing saffron scent, but it’s not this. Mizyaan is amazing!

Indian oud - ajmal signature with a beautiful rose accompanied by raspberry Very interesting scent, purely orient line is worth getting it if you find somewhere since I believe it is discontinued or it is very rare to find.
