Sheikh Eau de Parfum

I spent a lot of time with this perfume before writing this review, so let’s get into it: In recent years, the longevity of perfumes in Europe has been heavily restricted. I used to love Drakkar Noir, but nowadays it has absolutely no lasting power — it’s just a waste of money. This perfume, however, has a very similar scent — not identical, but close enough — and you can get it at a lower price. In return, you get an extremely long-lasting fragrance that doesn’t feel like a scam! About the scent: I hate ambroxan and cetalox (ambergris), so I completely avoid perfumes that contain these ingredients. Once, I accidentally bought Royale by Rasasi, which turned out to be horribly ambroxan-heavy — almost unbearable. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who dislikes that synthetic amber note. I only bought it because I was searching for a Drakkar clone, but sadly, I had to sell it. Now, Sheikh by Al Haramain is a very fresh, minty barbershop-style fragrance with beast mode longevity, and it doesn’t rely on ambroxan to hold it together. It’s a very well-crafted perfume. At first, it smelled a bit synthetic and I thought I detected some ambergris or a synthetic substitute, but I believe it’s more likely a side-effect of the mint note, and it’s not overwhelming. The barbershop character here doesn’t come from the usual overdose of lavender, but rather from a fruity apple note, which gives it a hint of sweetness and light floral freshness. It’s not a copy of Drakkar Noir, but rather an interpretation of it, built from different ingredients — and it works brilliantly. It doesn’t have that dark, mossy base that Drakkar has; instead, it remains more fruity and fresh throughout. Yes, it can smell a bit synthetic in parts, but overall it is an amazing fragrance at a fantastic price, and it delivers something that most European perfumes have long forgotten: true lasting power. Honestly, this scent is a solid 10/10, and if European perfume houses don’t start taking longevity seriously again, people will keep turning to alternatives like this.

The scent is unique and very pleasant, but it is not for everyone. At first it smells like a barbershop from the 90s, but after about 40 minutes to 1 hour it changes and becomes a modern, contemporary and beautiful scent! I would write it as something different from all the "barbershop" scents, because this one develops and takes you on an adventure in nature, as if you are walking in a garden with many types of flowers, fruits and herbs, and all of these are in sync with a unique scent. Sheikh is an extremely fresh, spicy and clean fragrance with very good performance, it is definitely for spring and summer, although I have also sprayed it in the winter and it works very well. Its longevity on me is over 24 hours, I spray it in the morning, get in the car and I can smell the scent the next day in the car's interior, as well as in my room when I come home in the evening, it leaves a very "chic" trail behind you. Some people say that it depends on the skin and DNA of the person regarding performance and longevity, but I don't really agree. If a person's body is polluted from the inside, if the skin is not well hydrated, if you don't have exceptionally good hygiene, no matter what perfume you put on, it still... Regarding the bottle, many people criticize that it was plastic, ugly, etc., I don't think it matters what material it is made of, what is important is the content, which in this case is very good. It is good to leave the perfume after spraying, in the original packaging in the dark in a cabinet at room temperature to mature, then you will have a really beautiful fragrance From me 10/10

I blind bought this but because of the reviews, I kind of knew what to expect since it is compared to Drakkar Noir and rightly so. It is very close to Drakkar Noir except for some minor differences. I wouldn't be able to tell for sure if I didn't have them side by side. Even though I'm talking about DN , it is important to note that I'm referring to the modern day version of it and not the old ones since its been reformulated and has changed somewhat In character and strength. Nevertheless, there is still something with the real deal that the dupes haven't quite been able to catch. DN is deeper and richer somehow but Sheikh EDP does a wonderful job still. Lomani is also a brand that has tried to emulate DN but that one is much lighter and more minty while Sheikh EDP is also a bit lighter, it's still closer to DN. My favorite take on DN is the roll on version called DAKAR which is concentrated perfume oil by Al Rehab. This one is very close also. In conclusion: If you like the Drakkar Noir style fragrances with some minute differences than Sheikh EDP is a jackpot. Its very well made in my opinion and gets very close but I still think you should own both or even several versions of you like this scent. Its an Immortal classic to me. An old school King.

I find reviews here misleading. Unlike most here I find a clear damp blonde tobacco note. More so after a few hours. The beauty of it is that it is not overpowering. What makes this perfume interesting is the fact that I can smell every note listed yet my brain flitters between a white floral immediacy or for all intents and purposes a lavender scent during the first couple of hours as the balloon of the scent bubble. As it dries down the power of the bubble fades dramatically which surprised me however for the price it is very enjoyable. Occasionally it reminds of of a juniper and white floral such as Porsche Design Essence or the mint, jasmine and spices sometimes remind me of lavender in Bond No9 Harrods exclusive or a softer less dark whiter version of Forreau Noir. Weirdly enough I can understand the association with Drakkar Noir and Duc de Verveins with mint though this is only in the initial stage. The bottle though is a bit cringeworthy...

I was buying Rasasi's Shuhrah and I took a spritz from a tester of Sheikh by Al Harramain. Hours later some lemony musky herbal freshness kept imposing itself over Shuhrah's dark sweet incense leather drydown. The scent was so familiar I had to back and buy it. This is a very good fragrance with great projection. If you like classic powerhouse scents, herbal, fresh, dry and you want something that approximates that era then try this. I also want to go beyond the Drakkar Noir comparisons and say this is actually closer to Chanel Pour monsieur (1955), YSL Pour Homme Haute concentration (1983) and Dior's Eau Sauvage (1966). They all have similar lemony/citrus opening. Although the overall scent profile is executed uniquely in each case, If you own(ed)/tried any/all of them you will probably notice the similarities with Shiekh Al Harramain,

Are the notes mentioned correct? To me this is first of all a musk fragrance, a blend of various types of musks. Not very clean musk and not very dirty musk, though somewhere in between. There are other supporting notes as well, some of those mentioned above. As a musk fragrance it is long lasting to very long lasting. More masculine I would say and could be considered 'sexy'.

I have a 10ml decant of this and I have been wearing it a lot. I will be getting a full bottle when I run out. It is very similar to Drakkar Noir with added florals and better performance than current Drakkar Noir. Anyone who knows Drakkar Noir will recognize the DNA.

Fresh, classic mint, green apple, freesia, tobacco are the words I can describe Sheikh. Definitely for gentlemen with nostalgia to the previous decades but I do not find it dated. I really like it.!!

For less than 20 bucks I am amazed at how beast mode this is. Signature scent worthy. I'm blown away by this fragrance. I definitely get tobacco, mint, jasmine and apple. 10/10.

Very similar with discontinuated Geoffrey Beene Bowling Green. A very good alternative. ~Green~Sweet~Herbal~ 30+

I had my apprehensions about the scent after trying it out on a card strip, it felt somehow cheap and synthetic. But the fresh and overpowering smell persuaded me to grab a bottle and also the fact that it is very cheap (USD 18 at the Al Haramain retail store). Once i tried it out on skin and clothes, all my apprehensions flew out the window! Sheikh is akin to an 80s powerhouse aromatic fougere, in a similar vein to drakkar noir and VCA Tsar (the classic). Top notes are very fresh indeed apple and rosemary carrying it for a good 20 minutes or so, the mid floral notes combine with the mint to continue the fresh vibe. The base notes as listed are tobacco, sandalwood and lily-of-the-valley, however the tobacco is almost non-existent. I get a hint of watery notes in the dry down though. Projection is excellent, as well as longevity (easily 8 hours). The only downside is the tacky bottle All seasonal scent? I would say yes, but i would prefer not to use it in winter. Unisex? No very masculine Blind buy worthy? If you're into 80's powerhouse aromatic fougeres, like totally!

I agree with kcholakov, you can get a cheap aftershave note from the opening but after a few minutes the scent changes into something I would say, spectacular. I get a combination of dried fruits, sandal wood and tobacco. Scent maybe a little bit linear to some noses but in a very pleasing way. I’m not sure if it’s a compliment getter but I enjoy this scent more and more every time I put it on. Sometimes I like to layer it with some fresher fragrance. To sum it up: It’s a very nice oriental fragrance with a hint of 90’s vibe (may it be a result of tobacco and wood notes comibnation) and not so well blended opening. 7,5 from me!

Smells al lot like what gillette shavingfoam smell like in Your mind. But after i compared them (The parfume sprayed maybe an hour earlier vs a blob of foam) you notice that this is a fair bit more complex than just shaving foam. The opening is very strong. Big green apple. Thereafter the already mentiond shaving foam, then in mellows out a bid in the drydown. I dont realt get the tobacco, maby some light kind of cigarette tobacco or something like that, idk, definitely not rolling tobscc. Love wearing this around the hous after a nice shower. I wouldn't say this in unisex, leans very much masculin

Really have been digging this one. This prob sounds weird but it reminds me of walking into a bathroom area after a well put together gent has just finished showering and getting ready in the morning - a soft soapy barbershop scent hangs in the air with a blast of minty mouthwash/toothpaste. Really it reminds me of Duc De Vervins + mint. To me this one is great in the heat especially for an outdoors/blue collar type work day. You feel freshly showered all day!

Quite contrary to what people generally say "the more I wear it the more I like it", the opposite is happening to me with this perfume.. "the more I wear it the more I'm not liking it". The harshness of it just doesn't go away, also the artificial smell is kinda annoying too. And no the synthetic smell doesn't wear off in the dry down. But it took me 3 weeks of wearing it as my signature scent to get here. Hope it's quite the opposite for you.

Very strong floral and minty fragrance. In fact, too floral for my taste. Has a strong scent of green apple as well. I really didn't pick up any notes of tobacco. Slightly odd on my skin. Very strong opening. Lasts for a long time on 1 spray, around 8-10 hours?? The bottle itself is honestly pretty horrid, odd and cheap plastic design, wobbly plastic bits, sprayer is decent though. I probably wouldn't wear this everyday.

This was my first fragrance bottle and an impulse buy. Took some time getting used to. But i love it. Performance is great. But since i am a newbie, my opinion may change in time. But for now, love it for the price and performance

It smells like Gillette shaving foam on me, it's very strong, better for colder days, but has a fragrance profile for warm weather wearing.

Scent: The scent is great and very pleasing, however it's not for all. This is an old school Scent profile from the 80s & 90s that might smell outdated to some. As for me, I love it. In a world full of sweet Scents, which I love by the way, this fragrance is a breath of fresh air. Yes, it's true that this has a "shaving foam" smell to it, which I agree, but it's a bit more spicier. I'm personally coming around to these "classic scents" the more I dive deep into this fragrance hobby. I've smelled Drakkar Noir years ago, and it did remind me of this fragrance, so maybe it's "cloning" it. I also get a Lapidus Pour Homme vibe with this one and a One Man Show Gold Edition vibe as well. The difference is that Sheikh is the freshest and much more "sopier" and "clean" one from the bunch. Lapidus Pour Homme is much more sweeter, thicker, and denser than this one, but the similarities are still there. OMSGE is much more "dirtier", "funky", and "smokier". All of those fragrances are wonderful and I like them all. Either way, Sheikh is a great scent overall. Performance: Now, for me the performance really wasn't there. I got a 07/23 Batch and it really didn't perform as well as I was hoping for. Don't get me wrong, for the first 30mins this was Strong and made itself known to people, however at the one hour mark it was already at half an arms length, unfortunately. It becomes intimate at the 1hr mark. The Longevity was also mid. I got around 4hrs before it became a skin scent. The sillage was about an 1hr. I paid close to $30, which is not bad, but was expecting better performance. Lapidus Pour Homme is a true Beast Mode scent. So if you want something similar to Sheikh, but with better performance, then get Lapidus Pour Homme. Seasons: This is definitely a warm weather scent, so for summer and late spring. I personally feel that this won't survive the colder seasons.

I'm very mixed about this. I'm not a big fan of the opening it's very harsh. The dry down is very pleasant. The smell is a sweet, fresh, yet slightly musky scent, the citrus and spice does come through . It is very synthetic, however. Although, for the price what can you expect. I'm conflicted on it because although it's quite pleasant sometimes I do catch whiffs of it when I have it in and it just smells like a generic lynx deodorant. If you're expecting to be wowed by this then don't get your hopes up. But if your looking for something that's affordable, long lasting, and pleasant smelling then this works.

Smells nothing like drakkar noir . If you are buying as alternative to drakkar noir then get ready to be disappointed. On its own its a great apple ,mint based fragrance . Great performance too approx 8-10 hrs . It does remind me of a little known fragrance by Sapil though called "Sapil challenge for men".

Just a regular aftershave in a perfume bottle. I don’t know why I bought this. Scent is not bad. Typical middle-eastern vibe is absent in the dry down. Suitable for Gym time.

If you look up "Synthetic Barber Shop" fragrance, it would be this bottle. If you care about the fragrance bubble you create, everyone will think you're wearing Drakkar Noir, a fragrance that's been around 43 years - so you will smell clean and familiar after drydown to enormous age demographic. If you like smelling nostalgic - this is your winner. The bottle look/design/feel is cheap, the opening is synthetic as hell, but it gets better (decent) in drydown. This is an 'alone fragrance' - home alone, yardwork, etc. This is not what you want to wear to smell attractive or appealing or interesting.

Man, I love these Drakkar-style macho frags. This is extremely old school, like Drakkar Noir with a huge coriander note, and it's nice and strong. Though it's similar to DN, it is certainly different enough to justify owning both. It's made in the UAE, but Sheikh does not smell like an Arabic fragrance (i.e., no oud, incense, etc). No, this is classical European style all the way. It's similar to Safari for Men and Pasha Cartier.

I agree that the opening is bit harsh, almost like an aftershave as others indicated, but this is one of the most complemented cheapie I've got. It has really good performance as well. It's not an easy to find fragrance in my country. I got it from Al haramain store in dubai and will surely pick a few for backup if I get a chance.

Smells a bit cheap on the first spay. Like a cheap aftershave somehow but...I like very much. There is something in it which makes me keep reaching for it. On the dry-down I like it even more. In terms of performance...this is so strong - both longevity and projection. One of the strongest perfumes I have.

I love the smell. Mine son loves it and my wife could smell the wift from the kitchen which means it's not a weak fragrance. Buy it and enjoy the superb smell. The arabs do cheap and really high quality fragrance.

A lot deeper and warmer than drakaar and doesn’t have that grapefruit note? The middle was a bit Lapidus homme but settled into a more tobacco dry down. Still changing after 8 hours, sandalwood soap mmmmm

A modern, light and airy remake of Drakkar Noir, but a very powerful one. Masculine and macho, like a hungry crocodile. Watch out for the sprayer, it will eat you!

Smell is fresh and good. but it lasts for maximum 2 to 3 hours only. After that it is jut a faint smell.
