Parfum de Nuit

All I can say is WOW! Such a rich and intense fragrance! I was lucky to find it at a clearance counter! It cost me the equivalent of $10 in my currency! I might go back and check if they have some more bottles left!

Nectar of the GODS! Wow......I am astonished at the development of this fragrance on my skin. I am in love....

Notes: Mandarin, Ruby grapefruit, Petitgrain, Neroli, Jasmine, Orange blossom, Nutmeg, Ylang ylang, Mimosa, Sandalwood, Cedar, Vetiver, Patchouli, Musk, Amber, Vanilla. No blackcurrant. This is indeed a chypre, on me it smells like Givenchy III layered with something fruity. It's a dark fragrance so Nuit is a fitting name. Nuits oozes of quality and is well worth trying. But you have to like chypres with prominent notes of herbal vetiyver and patchouli.

De Nuit is a pretty fl-oriental. On me, the floral notes are front and center - jasmin, neroli, pettigrain. The initial hint of rubber mellows to a nice amber quickly and when the base notes arrive, de Nuit sings. I don't get chypre so much. The earthiness of De Nuit is almost like a second-thought - you have to go looking for it and when the lovely sandalwood and nutmeg announce themselves right about the time that you recognize that there's ylang-ylang in there..you forget to look for the vetiver. Smokey musk stays for the duration. Nicely balanced, it hovers a few inches from the skin, and lasts about 5 hours. A really nice bottle. Great value for a lovely scent.

From the notes, I thought that I would love this one. It isn't as bad as the new pink chypres without oakmoss that I detest, but it isn't a winner on me either. Perhaps I need to avoid the entire Floral Chypre category unless the perfume is a vintage one.

I looked this perfume up on other sights and there is no black currant listed.
