Carve On

Opening blast has a soapy, grass herbal. I can smell the mate, sage and grass smell, very herbal and grassy, like youre in a meadow and out your face to the ground, minus the earth smell you would get. The juniper makes it not so cold but brisk and CRISP. Definitely refreshing. The soapy herbal notes remind me of Geoffrey Beene "Grey Flannel" which is its own thing and a very polarizing scent (one i love). However, the soapy herbs in Carve On are not to that extreme so no worries for those who hate Grey Flannel. Its soapy herb vs soapy floral herb if that males sense. As it dries, i catch the birch and iris. The woodiness comes through. the grass and sage are there, forward but not in your face. The leather is noticeable but subtle. Not a clean car smell, more like tanned leather but the rough suede like underside, not the nice polished side everyone would see. The leather starts coming through about 15 minutes, slowly and smoothly giving a nice transition from the crisp herbal opening. Once it kicks in, the grassy smell fades and i smell sage and slight spice (maybe the pink pepper listed?). I smell no Tonka at all and the amber warmth is very slight. I feel its herbal leather with a very slight soapy tone. Its beautiful. When i smell it i think of my celtic roots for sure. I see the cottage and fields. Ive never smelt the original so i cant compare. It lasts a long time and i catch myself sniffing and it still smells like it did the first 15-30 minutes of drydown with very little fade. For me, without comparison, as a stand alone its a solid 9/10. I love herbal, greeny, leather, tobacco and oud scents and so this checks the herbs, grassy/green and leather for me.

This frag inspired me to register and review it. Initial spray was uncertain for me. A few minutes later the projection hits like Green Irish Tweed. And here's the kicker...! It smells like GIT too!! The green in this is incredible, especially mixed with leather. In a way, in regards to comparing this to GIT, I get from this what I want more from GIT (smokiness and more bold green, and "darker" if you will). This is absolutely BB worthy imo. Additional thoughts: I'm confused as to why no other reviewers are on the same page as me. It's possible I was sent Irish Gentleman (AF GIT frag) accidentally, and I'm experiencing a mislabeled sample. Not sure. But I will contact AF to figure this out. If it is in fact Irish gentleman, then I can confidently say this will replace my new Creed GIT bottle. *Additional notes/ edit: I have the right frag. This is not a mistake with what I have. I would like to add and edit that I wouldn't replace my GIT with Carve on, I still love GIT. I would say the projection is stronger in this vs GIT - but they both are excellent in their similar ways. I will say, after sampling this a few more times, this absolutely performs better than GIT, also I personally don't get much leather scent... it's strange in a way, almost as if the green and leather don't want to mix together for mass appeal. I do like it, it's just different. I did just receive this. If it changes after 2 weeks significantly, then I'll update here to give my impression. I really hate to say it, but I'm not liking it as much as I did with my first impression

Excellent. Identical to Memo Irish Leather. Green grass, vegetal, earth plus slight leather. Sophisticated and pleasant for the wearer but probably not mass appealing. Can smell with every few breathes. Performance at least as good if not better than Memo. Although Carve On and Irish leather have few notes in common with Morrocan Leather, the 2 scents are very similar but Morrocan has slightly noticeable iris. Update: Have received unexpected number of compliments with this fragrance. Also quite enjoyable to wear as it is perceived with almost every inhale. Deuteronomy 4:28-29

I got a sample, not the same as memo's. It is however a nice scent. It is not as bright and green as memo, it is much more leathery and animalic. It has a great saddle/stable vibe. great projection/longevity. Clones will never give someone who is expecting an exact recreation what they want, but will sometimes surprise you with something interesting

Geoffrey Beene Grey Flannel with a leathery birch base. I am in the minority of those who love Grey Flannel, and Carve On(Irish Leather) to me is taking the Grey Flannel DNA and adding a strong leather component. I can't unsmell it now that my brain has associated it. And I am quite alright with it!

Forget every note but the grass and leather—that’s what you’re going to smell like for the next 8 hours. It smells like spring in a bottle.

Like so many of Alexandria's scents, this dries down to be a sweet vanilla tonka. I do think Mr. Hafez is a genius. I got a sample pack, and I was really excited about this one, but I'm frustrated that so many have that vanilla base note. Smells amazing, unlike anything else I've smelled. I thought it might be bergamot because it smells tart and bright and bitter and clean, but it's juniper with the tea is so heavenly and green and refreshing but not sweet. Leather is not super noticeable. Maybe in the mid when it warms up, you get a little acerbic freshness of leather. I wish I got more birch and amber in the finish, but they're definitely background. Not the longest performer from Alexandria, but anything from Hafez is better than many.

Close enough....particularly in the air. If you are familiar with the OG, and like it, you’ll probably like this. Longevity and projection are average...maybe slightly above. Get a sample/decant before purchase of full bottle.

I've never tried Memo's Irish Leather, so can't say how close Carve On is. Carve On is a very green and aromatic leather. I'd almost say it's fresh, although I'd probably limit that word to more citrus-y fragrances. Wouldn't say it's spicy either. Maybe bright would be a better word. I thought of Tiziana Terenzi's Siene but that one is fresh and maybe more reserved. Carve On is really in your face. The mate is also very noticeable, which isn't in Siene. Carve On is pretty linear. Didn't get any change as it dried down. Pretty powerful - goes on strong and stays strong. Longevity for me was a good 9 hours with pretty strong sillage for quite a while. I've rated it only as an OK because something didn't really click with me. Maybe it's the strong mate note but not sure. I prefer TT's Siene and for a really strong fragrance, I'll stick with Amouage's Reckless Leather.

So many paid fake reviews for this brand. Do not fall for the hype as i did.

As a proud owner of a full bottle of Memo Irish leather, I have to hang my head in shame for paying so much for it, having recently discovered this scent as part of a sampler pack I ordered from Alexandria. The opening is 95% similar to Irish Leather, with the Alexandria fragrance being a bit sharper, but after 10 minutes, they are indistinguishable. The same unique Tanned Leather-Mate-Cold Autumn Air Outdoorsy Accord, same moderate projection, and they have equal longevity as well, which is to say very good, about 8 hours on my skin. This house is surprisingly good to say the least, as their clones of CH Men and Memo Italian Leather (I also have an FB of the original juice as well) are also fantastic and 95%+ identical to the originals. Like their counterpart Dua Fragrances, they have some misses as well, most notably to my nose, their clone of Neroli Portofino, which loses it's way quickly on my skin within 15 minutes. Carve On, on the other hand, can easily stand in as a replacement for Irish Leather any day of the week.

So I have no idea what Memo Irish Leather smells like but I am in LOVE with all things Alexandria and Leather so this was my bag! This is a SMOOTH soft leather with a bit of green and a bit of, well, softness. This is NOT any sort of TOM FORD leather (if that hurts OR helps this review-- so be it). Projection / longevity is on par with a $300.00 fragrance from some bogus niche house that parades around like they've been around since before fire was invented. In other words-- excellent! This is my second Alexandria and it will not be my last- this house KICKS ASS and provides an outstanding service: Poor people like you and me can have a $300.00 fragrance for.....about $59.99 ! Need I say more ? Go for it. Safe blind buy if you love leather.

Amazed that this is NOT more popular . 2 sprays = ALL DAMN DAY. You will be TASTING this. Smooth Suede / Leather like a showroom with really expensive leather driving gloves that came out of their packages ALL AT ONCE under your nose. A hint of "sweet" - barely. Never sample anything by Memo , so whatever. I hope this never gets discontinued! (Alexandria has discontinued a few of their earliest fragrances) .

I like it when I smell it from a distance, especially the dry down. Up close, there’s something very sharp, very unusual. It’s not as much leather as I was hoping for. If you like a smoother leather, try Imaginary Authors The Cobra and the Canary. I’ll let it sit for awhile and revisit. Oh...sillage is average and longevity is outstanding. 5/10

I have tried a few of their clones, some are not great, others decent, but this one is superb. I own the original by Memo and I hate to say it but for me this actually outperforms the original in terms of projection and longevity. To my nose the likeness is spot on. I love my Memos but this is a great clone.

My review is real . This stuff lasts into the next day. Creamy suede !
