Fructus Virginis

Yes a syrupy, sweet, but also boozy cherry marzipan. This is so, so good! This impression is slightly sweeter than the original, which I have a small decant of. The pleasant tartness of the original gives it a more distinctly maraschino cherry experience, whereas the Alexandria impression is more jammy and less tart. The dry down on these is very very similar, with again the TF original having a slightly more tart quality and the Alexandria impression being slightly sweeter. However, after 30 minutes the TF fades into...absolutely nothing. Not a thing, not even a skin scent. The Alexandria dupe lasts and lasts and lasts, I get easily 8 hours. The next day I smell traces of a delectable sweet cherry all over my pink sweater. They are 90% similar, at least. I personally could never part ways with $200 for an ounce of a scent that might be made with higher grade materials, but is absolutely not formulated to last. I am more than satisfied with the impression! If you've smelled the original and loved it, this is a safe blind buy. 10/10 will repurchase forever

I ordered this based off of the reviews here and they did not dissapoint! I’m actually shocked at how much better than the TF this is!!! This is my new favorite perfume and it completely outperforms Lost Cherry. I think it is also quite a bit more cherry than LC. I feel like in LC you smell the cherry at first and then it fades into this beautiful sweet and sexy scent. This one I feel like the cherry stays for the whole time which I personally like better. The dry downs are so so similar but I actually prefer this one. Which is a huge relief because I was about to pay $350 for the original and thought, ok let me just try this first. Now if you don’t like a strong heavy perfume just spray a tiny bit- it is a very strong sillage, again personally I prefer that so it is perfect for me! It is also a pretty unique and strong scent so if you haven’t smelled LC be aware of that! I could see it being a little polarizing with how unique of a scent it is. Perfect for a strong polarizing personality LOL.

Wow!! I just received this in the mail and was anxious to see if I found it as similar to Tom Ford's Lost Cherry as others have. I’ve been looking for a more affordable alternative ever since I first smelled Lost Cherry, and I’m happy to say this one hits the nail on the head! The nozzle itself smells just like LC in my opinion: like a warm, gooey cherry pie out of the oven. On me the opening of Fructus Virginis was a little more syrupy and lifesaver-smelling at first, but this vibe calmed down with time and now I would easily think I was smelling LC if I didn’t know better. Lost Cherry’s longevity isn’t as terrible on me as it seems to be on others, maybe 5-6 hours, but that’s still not good enough for me to justify a $300 perfume purchase, no matter how delicious I find it. Thankfully I found this one and don’t have to agonize over the will-I-won’t-I anymore!

The sluttiest maraschino cherry cocktail I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. Warm and just this side of sickly sweet, the almond adds a complexity and savoryiness that takes the cherry to another level. I loathe cheap gourmand smells, and rarely enjoy warm ones, but this does it extremely well without ever making me feel like 8th grader with a Bath and Bodyworks body spray. This is a boozy scent through the dry down for me, and when the cherry finally trails away traces of the warm almond touched by cedar and balsam remain for hours. With TF LC I got more of the rose and perhaps vetiver in the dry down. This perfume is unapologetic about what it is, and the cherry and almond had a much a longer life than in Lost Cherry in my limited experience.

I have not tried Tom Ford lost Cherry however my favorite fragrance note is Cherry and my favorite fragrance is guerlain La Petite robe noire. I really wanted to try this fragrance and I wasn't about to pay Tom Ford prices for a fragrance that does not last so I got this instead. So far I absolutely adore it I will give update soon on longevity. So far it smells sweeter than la petite robe noire but with a hypnotic poison vibe wow I love it. Edit - still smells almost identical to hypnotic poison on me. Moderate sillage Lasts super long on clothes12+ it didn't last super long on my skin I got 5 hrs Edit- I got 8 hours now that I've been trying it for about a week.

You get blasted in the face with cherry at the start backed up with a slightly powdery almond follows up not long after. It's really easy to get anosmic to the cherry scent at first if you stick your nose in it because it's so strong, but my nose recovered in maybe 30 minutes. Up close the cherry can be a bit medicinal, but arm's length and further it's mouthwatering and juicy. Because of the spiciness in here the cherry note reminds me of rum-soaked cherries in the best way. I'll definitely be wearing this again, but with care where and how much I spray. I spray it on my ankles and the projection is great.

Smooth delicious/sexy cherry tonka (vanilla) vibe. The cherry is extremely prominent at opening. It does have the liquor element to give a more mature cherry vibe. The dry down brings forth a creamy tonka note that that works insanely well with the cherry note. Longevity is about 7/8 hours and projection is beyond arms length for couple hours. As simple as this DNA looks, it works! It is one of my most unsolicited complimented fragrances. Easily could be unisex. Always get a sample to live with it for a few days, but this is an easy recommend for me.

Pretty close to Lost Cherry, most people wouldn't know the difference unless you told them. I think this is a bit brighter and less complex than the TF scent. The brightness of this exists mostly in the top notes and isn't as noticeable after the guy down. Compared to Lost Cherry, the performance is much better. It will last much longer on your skin, but I tend to use it on clothes to make it last a bit longer. Overall, solid purchase and great value compared to to Lost Cherry.

no reviews?wow...let me be the first one to be on both YouTube and here to say that this is a BEAUTY for cherry lovers, you get a wonderful boozy cherry vanilla which is unisex and very sexy. I Haven't smelled Lost Cherry but that's way out of my price range, this right here Im getting soon and you should definitely try it 9/10 Edit: kindly correct the name on database...its written as Fructis* the real name of this fragrance is Fructus Virginis :)

I originally wanted TF Lost Cherry and came on here to find a dupe and read a review saying that Alexandria Frutus Virginis smelled the same and performed better. I still have never smelled TF but this was a love at first sniff for me. It is an intoxicating (no pun intended) cherry liqueur. I wore this on my 21st birthday and got loads of compliments. If you overspray, it can be a bit much but once it settles down it is beautiful.

This fragrance omg!!!! It smells soo sexy and cherry filled with that nice almond note to it. I don't know if it smells like TF LC, but I don't care at this point. I LOVEE this and it will be my fall/winter scent. It is so unique and I know when I walk past someone, they will smell this. Only thing I don't care for is the bottle, it is very masculine, but other than that, the price and the scent is just *chef kiss* ;)

My new signature scent - which says a lot from a perfume junkie like myself. The cherry is sweet and fruity, but in a darker, gourmand way. Not intrusively tart or sweet. The nutty accords are creamy, smooth and a perfect base to mix with the sweetness of the cherries. It's warm and inviting. Smells like Kayali Burning Cherry with less spice.

This is a sweet scent so i can understand/see women liking this on themselves. But Don't Get It Twisted, When i'm wearing a suit or dressed to impress looking like a chocolate dipped cherry This Stuff Works. Ladys love it on my skin and more importantly I Love it on my skin. All Around 8.5 out of 10 for me!

Gorgeous, beautiful cherry scent. Slightly Boozy, alluring, headturning and affordable. However, for the first few months of having this scent prior to aging it would dry down into a playdoughy? smell. I haven't noticed this problem a year later but just something to note.

What a beautiful Creamy Cherry Unisex options. Ideal for Fall and winter. Not recommended for hot weather or summer. Seductive and ideal for closed encounters. Makes women wonder who delicious you smell. Price range: 10/10 I can’t afford the price of Tom Ford Lost Cherry.

I suspect I’m anosmic to something in the actual Lost Cherry. This lasts a good while AND I can actually smell it. Nice cherry almond almost leathery dry down. Great value and I also recommend his Lira dupe.

Before I review the actual fragrance, allow me to express how impressed I am with their new bottles! Cobalt blue glass and gold-hued stoppers! And the shapes! Beautiful!!! Now for the review. Update! I have now tried Tom Ford's Lost Cherry! And no, this is not an acceptable dupe. Lost Cherry is much smoother, sweeter, sultrier. This is more of a beastmode leathery balsam in cherry syrup. Cherry Tabacum by Dua Fragrances, a hybrid dupe of Lost Cherry and Tobacco Vanille, is actually much closer to the TF's LC than Fructus Virginis. Limited edition Cherry Baby from Skylar comes even closer to TFLC, but how long it will be available is anyone's guess. On first spray, I get dark syrupy cherry in the opening. Not maraschino, not tart. Those are dark sweet cherries in syrup. HOWEVER— along with those cherries, there is a strong Peru balsam that lends this a very leathery accord. Granted, it is a nice leather scent, like a quality leather jacket, but it was very unexpected. Both the Tom Ford and the Dua dupe are much more gourmand in nature with not even a hint of leather I could detect. And the cherry is much more short-lived in this, though that leather accord lingers, along with the sandalwood, cedar, and a hint of tonka. I just received it, so maybe it is bottle shock, but I imagine it will still be very leathery even after it recovers. For me, it's about an 8/10.

I had a bottle of TF Lost Cherry but sold it because I wasn't wearing it much, and prices were sky high during the pandemic. Lost cherry was phenomenal (to people who like cherries) and I sort of regretted selling it. I picked up an older 60ml batch of Fructus Virginis which to my knowledge, they do not make in this size anymore The million dollar question, is this a suitable replacement for the genuine Tom Ford? I'm not really a huge fan of clones but for a cherry fragrance which is very situational on a man, it made sense. And yes, this fragrance is 80% similar. The differences to my nose is that lost cherry contains a high quality liquor that lasts from the opening to the drydown (over an hour). This does not have as much liquor, and it's not the same quality. Also lost cherry seems to hold the Maraschino cherry opening much longer. I cannot speak to recent formulations, but I'm pleased with the smell and performance of my bottle, but overall Lost Cherry is better. Also LC has slightly better longevity on my skin than FV. After a couple hours, nobody will be able to tell the difference. Lost Cherry Scent 8.5/10 Lost Cherry Performance 7/10 Fructus Virginis Scent 7/10 Fructus Virginis Performance 6/10

I was doing a little shopping with my husband when I first smelled Tom Ford's Lost Cherry 🍒. It was love at first sniff but I couldn't justify the price, and after reading the reviews on here. I just could not make sense of spending that type of money on a perfume that only last 2 hours. Lost Cherry seemed to be a fitting name. I found Alexandria's Fructus Virginis and for the price point, I could not beat it. I also loved that I could find it on Amazon. I decided to give it a whirl. The bright juicy red cherry isn't there in the opening as it is with Lost Cherry but the dry down is beautiful. I am really enjoying it thus far. I think this fragrance would shine at night or in the late afternoon for cocktails. It's perfect for that. I think it would smell lovely in the cooler weather and maybe get a little headache in the heat. Update: I wore this on a date night and it did not disappoint. I felt sexy and smelled edible. Just what I wanted... Perfect!

I haven't smelled Tom Ford's Lost Cherry so I can't comment on whether this is a dupe. I like Fructus Virginis though, it's heavy on the cherry and very sweet. If you don't LOVE cherries, this fragrance is probably not for you. I do agree that this is unisex, I don't think it leans too masculine or to feminine. I don't know how some people are experiencing low projection with this fragrance. I use one spray and every time I've worn it people have smelled me before I've walked into a room.

Very close interpretation to TF Lost Cherry. The opening is spot on identical. I would say overall these two scents are between 80-85% identical. I like it. Rating: 7/10 Compliments: 6/10

Having never smelled the original, I decided to pick this up secondhand at a great price. I love Tom Ford, especially his older private blend offerings. I have tried F'n Fabulous and thought it was ok, but definitely overpriced especially based on performance. Anyway, this is a clone so I am not sure how well it represents the original, but I will give my opinions on it. Opens with a very sweet and syrupy cherry that dries down into a bitter and creamy almond reminiscent of Jergen's lotion, albeit more elegant and definitely more potent. The booze is really what shines in this for me as it blends with the cherry almond, giving it some depth. The tonka bean helps further smooth things out in the base, giving you a yummy base. Thankfully, I don't get much rose (not a fan of this note), but it sits very calmly not trying to take over. There is also a lipstick vibe going on here every so slightly. For me, this is too syrupy and sweet, I could see this possibly working better on my wife's skin.

This was not close enough to Lost cherry for my taste. I found this to be cheaper smelling overall. It didn't have that sharp cherry booziness or powdery almond smoothness of Lost Cherry. What's left is a sweet, thick, plastic sour fruit smell. It was better after maceration, but still ultimately a bit disappointing, even at the lower price point. Would love to swap this to someone who would appreciate it.

I wanted to like this as much as Lost Cherry, but there’s an incense smell with this one that just leans too masculine and almost medicinal to me. This isn’t something that I think smells inviting. Lost Cherry reminded me of that Cherry-Almond Jergen’s kind of smell.... and this not at all. Oh well! I’ll probably have to find something to layer it with.

This doesn’t work for me. I get only amber and florals on my skin (and clothes). I’m glad Alexandria offers the travel sprays so I’m only out $20. This one and Gourmand Kiss are the only ones I haven’t liked from the brand so far. (GK smells like baby diapers!)

Its horrible. I bought a 30 ml and so wanted to love it based on the reviews but it has a weird undertone and smells really plastic and off putting. Ive tried to b540 dupe which was good but this was a big miss. and they took down my review on the site so I'm pretty sure the other reviews on the site are fake

Haven't had much experience with Lost Cherry. I can say I liked this at first, but the more often I wear it the more headache inducing it becomes. It seems to last on my skin, however, considering that after an hour there is pain behind my eyes, I cannot say this is a plus.

Very disappointed, not close to the smell or even performance of Tom Ford Lost Cherry as I have both & tested both in cold AC at home for hours ... it doesn’t last more than 1 hour

The cheap rose in here is predominant. Its like you smell rose turkish delight, horrible. I got a little booze, sirupy cherry and a bunch of cheap rose.

This is by far the worst fragrance I have ever tried. Some weird mixture of 2-3 different cough syrups. Yukk!

I received Fructus Virginis in a swap; it's my first Alexandria fragrance. I know that it's supposed to be a dupe to TF Lost Cherry, but I haven't smelled that one yet, so I can't make any comparisons. Instead, I'm reviewing Fructus Virginis as a standalone fragrance. Anyway, this is a great gourmand scent for people like me who otherwise don't care for gourmands. The opening notes are in-your-face: sour cherry and almond-marzipan. I have noticed that quite a few people can't tell the difference between sweet cherry and tart (sour) cherry; well, this is definitely a tart cherry, amplified by the eponymous liqueur, making it deliciously boozy. The almond-marzipan note is quite bitter, making this fragrance completely unisex. As it progresses towards the drydown, the almond note disappears, to be replaced by tonka bean and woods. The fragrance doesn't smell synthetic and I've found it to be much more wearable than Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire and its countless flankers. The fragrance projects nicely (but doesn't overwhelm) and stays on my skin for 6+ hours even in the scorching heat. I'm now curious to try other Alexandria products, as this first one has passed the test with flying colours.

We regret to inform you....... Having sampled the REAL Lost Cherry a few weeks ago, I was dying to try on Alexandria's newest creation. Having trouble with their website check-out shopping cart-- I opted on a decant off eBay instead of my blind buy full bottle. The mishap was a blessing, I think. Well, my expectations were peed upon. Fructis Virginis gave me cherry cordial room spray. It feels unusually synthetic --more so than any other Alexandria (I have owned 7 thus far). The worst part is that there is some fake tonka/tobacco involved- there is NO tobacco in Lost Cherry. ( I suspect there is a "cherry tobacco/tonka" chemical compound at Chemist's R 'Us somewhere--I have smelled it dozens of times over the years in men's "cheapies" usually). Nevertheless; I will "live" with this for a few weeks. If there is any update to the status- it will be noted here. But now I just feel like I got all dressed up for a hot date with Alexandria, and he didn't show or call to apologize. Sigh.Projection is good not "killer" or "beast" or whatever else you wanna call it. EDIT EDIT: smells like a cherry car freshener . Beware.

I agree entirely with McKTea’s review. I bought this because I love lost cherry but LC does not last. I thought I was going crazy to think that this isn’t really a good LC substitute, but then I saw the comment below which explained exactly how I felt about the perfume. While I definitely smell the cherry at the opening of FV, it then turns into a deep smoky smell with little to no other notes at all. I’m not very experienced with fragrances, so leathery may be a better word for it, but to me it smells like smoke. While I think the fragrance smells nice, it’s not really a replacement for lost cherry. I’ll note that as it’s macerated over the past month, the cherry note seems to come out a little more during that smoky phase. Still, it is almost entirely smoky to me with only whiffs of cherry from time to time. With that being said, the cherry that is there is not medicinal at all. It’s definitely a nice deep cherry.

I know that a big complaint about TF Lost Cherry is that the cherry note disappears too quickly, so when I saw that this clone of it holds onto that note longer I was excited to try it. However, I almost think Alexandria took it too far in the other direction - the cherry note is way too punchy, and while I like that it lasts longer, I think I prefer the balance in the TF scent more. The underlying gourmand notes also don't smell as sophisticated or complex, I couldn't quite put my finger on it but another user mentioned that there's a lower quality liqueur note in this one, so that is probably it. It's really, really easy to make gourmand fragrances smell juvenile, and I wouldn't say that is necessarily the case here, but it is bordering on it. That being said, for the price difference, I think that it does the job.

Just got my sample size today -- excellent customer service and speed of shipping! I am in a flurry of blind buys, and this (in sample size) was one of them. I can smell the cherry, but I also smell deeper, darker things, which saddened me, somehow. I had this on my wrist as we drove through a small town with an antique store that I'd been in before-- one that smelled like must and memories and many years. I was reminded of that while smelling this scent -- and also old violin cases that hadn't been opened in years. I can see how some thing it's a cozy scent. Maybe I put too much on? But alas, it isn't for me.

I've tried a couple of Lost Cherry dupes, including this, the Oakcha dupe, and Amarena Cherry, and this is my favorite of the three. It's not as long lasting as the Oakcha dupe, but it's boozier, and brighter in terms of the cherry. The Oakcha lacks tartness, it's a little flat, and it's more cough drop-like, although I do still like it. Fructus Virginis is similar to Amarena Cherry, although a little less boozy, and Amarena Cherry has a syrup note that I dislike that is not present in Fructus Virginis. I also tried their Lira dupe, and it's really good. I'm contemplating buying more from the company.

I didn't expect it, but Alexandria is definitely scratching my itch for popular likable bangers like TF LC we tend to get sick of rather quickly. This, itch scratched without major financial commitment or regret. Win win! I detect slight nuanced differences between LC and FV, but all for the best IMHO. FV maintains its cherry note all the way to the end whereas LC doesn't. Many commented on difference in the type of cherry, for me differences are negligible. FV gives me that boozy cozy vibe we gourmand lovers all crave in colder months and it stays around unlike LC. I say try it!

Slight boozy fruty tart cherry with that creamy almond and tonka vanilla.like....this scent is wonderfull tart smooth and delicious gourmand Defenitly in my top 10 best smelling alexandria fragrances the fruty cherry tart opening is really dominant for the 30 minutes or so after that it tones down abit but it's stil there in the drydown alongside the almond and tonka vanilla like Smell 9/10 projection 7.5 /10 long lasting 9/10......i freaking love the opening....it's one of the best opening ever.....and the drydown is stunningly amazing 😊

I also own Lost Cherry, having bought this one first, and I don’t consider this a dupe. Fructus Virginis has rougher spices, and not the same beautiful woodsy dry down that I fell in love with in Lost Cherry. I don’t smell musk in Lost Cherry, and the musk in this tips it over from unisex to masculine. I might enjoy smelling this on a man, but I can’t wear it myself, even though I do enjoy many unisex fragrances. I get use out of it as a room fragrance, as it has expensive candle vibes. But I might still give it away.

Delicious. Full rich almondy fruity tart tonka. I missed the cherry on the bilnd test the almond was the one in the spotlight but definitely has a tart fruity vibe to it. Boozy too, although blind i didn't pick up on it. I actually had lost cherry in the back of my mind testing this (and confetto, although i know that has a strong anise note.) But I think lost cherry has way mroe cherry and a lot less syrupy / red in it's juice. Lovely scent, very thick and oomphy.

On it’s own merit, FV is a lovely cherry gourmand. It’s sweet and delicious. I did compare it side by side to my travel Lost Cherry, and Lost Cherry out performs this. LC lasts longer on my skin. Also, there is a sexy, sultry, deep, darkness about LC that FV is missing. I think it’s the clove note missing in FV that makes all the difference. Enough difference that I wanted the real thing, and just bought it. They are not dupes. I’d say 70% similar.

Almost perfect dupe for Lost Cherry and performs incredibly (longevity and sillage) for the price. I ran out of my 10ml bottle of LC and decided to try this. While I was waiting for it to arrive I impulsively spent ~$170 on the authentic LC. Now I’m wishing I waited for this to arrive; it is a very very similar scent at a great price point and performs even better than the original.

This is my first purchase with AF and I am smitten! My review is based on a quick hand test, but WOW! I am so impressed! This smells identical to my sample of TF's Lost Cherry; however, I don't have a sillage or longevity test yet, as I want to let it settle before I give it a true wear test I will update once I do give it a wear test. :)

I have TF LC but the performance is lacking so I was looking for something I could wear that was inexpensive. This is perfect. It smells pretty identical and it projects a lot more. It’s not as powdery and “cloudy” as LC but that’s not too much of an issue. Glad I got this.

I don’t like cherry candy so I should have known better. I guess I hoped for realistic fruit but what I got was cough syrup kinda. Maybe the original TF would give me the same vibes, but this one isn’t for me. I’d say 3/10 but I don’t like cherry so I won’t put my vote in.

Amazingly delicious gourmand....i freaking love the dominated fruty tart cherry opening and it's really dominant for the first 30 minutes or so.....but the drydown is stunning and this is better than lost cherry stronger projection and longlasting too 9/10

Lovely gourmand, like a marzipan kugel with a cherry soaked in liqueur in the centre. A lot like amarena cherry but much boozier, more dominant almond, less lozenge vibe. I prefer this one to it, don't remember lost cherry I know I tried it. Great scent.
