Haute Luxor

This was originally meant to be a clone of Roja’s Haute Luxe. Alexandria now markets it as an original creation, which I think is smart. I’ve only had the pleasure of wearing the Roja once (applied it liberally at the Bergdorf Goodman Roja counter), and the experience was leagues ahead of this, to say the least. You can see the inspiration in Haute Luxor, but in comparison it’s like a low resolution image of the original. So I like to consider Haute Luxor for its own merits because by itself it is quite good. An inviting opening of spices and citrus soon evolves into a jasmine and labdanum heart which remains throughout, eventually joined by bitter mosses. The labdanum in here is three-dimensional, and allows for the full experience of all of the materials facets. Labdanum in itself is enough to be a full perfume, and here it is done justice. If you can get over wearing something which was originally intended to be a knock-off of someone else’s idea, this is a wonderful experience. I’ll admit it’s easier to turn a blind eye here, because the actual perfumer of the original has likely been buried under a mountain of NDAs.

It smells regal and overwhelmingly like old money. Fun sample but I wouldn't buy a full bottle.

There's a lot going on here, and it does evolve, but at no point in the evolution do I enjoy this fragrance. It is earthy-dirty. If there is bergamot, it's faint - so faint I can't pick up on it. No idea how it compares to RD's version. Scent: 1 Projection: 9 Longevity: 9 Value: 8

Smells overly cheap, sharp and synthetic and that’s because there’s barely any naturals in this lol....haute luxe has roughly 80% naturals in it, this has almost none. Now, i am by no means defending the price of haute luxe, $3500 is hilarious and absurd. BUT, it at least smells of quality.

There's a lot going on with this perfume. A combination of a lot of smells like : Jasmine, ginger, vetiver, labdanum. But the earthy smell throws it off into a direction I personally don't like. Sample before buying.
