Sweet Smoke

Very similar to TFTV. I am doing a side by side, sweet smoke on one arm, tm ford tobacco vanille on the other. The opening is a cinnamon burst with tobacco where TF is smoother and smells like real tobacco, almost like a pack of cigarettes but smooth not bitter. Sweet Smoke has a cinnamon smell for first few minutes. Odd, as cinnamon is not a listed note. 15 minutes into the dry down, they are very similar. The "hot cinmamom" smell toned itself down and is very slight. Tom Ford had a smooth, yet slight dirty tobacco smell. Its that authentic dry tobacco smell, it has the smoke, the earthy subtleness. TF gets that so right. that Id say the initial dry down is 97-98% the same as TF Tobacco Vanille. I have to say I am impressed. I can smell Tonka in Sweet smoke vs the vanilla of TF. I prefer this, as I typically find vanilla a very cloying smell. It makes sweet smoke far less gourmand which again, a plus in my book. I smell NO coffee, have no idea where they get that. Sweet smoke has a "nip" to it. I don't know how to describe it. But its distinct and tobacco. TF is much more rounded and smooth. So similar in their tobacco but there is a difference, not one over powering the other. The tobacco smell i would say is equal in prominence but VERY slightly diverges from one another. Sweet Smoke definitely beats out TF in its sillage and longevity. I can smell TF fading much quicker. The dried fruits and resin warmth are also in TF. Sweet smoke i get the resin but not the dried fruits. Perhaps a bit linear compared to the original in this regard. Compared to original, its reallty hard to not like sweet smoke. They are just too close to really, truly prefer one over the other. If you REALLY enjoy the more sweet, slightly gourmand smell of Tom Ford, I would say for some, it would be worth spending on the Tom Ford. Going forward, ill likely stick to al haramain's Amber Oud Tobacco. I feel like its a bridger of the two, maybe akin to a spicier flanker. I'll get Tom Ford on a really good deal at this point. Sweet Smoke is just so close to it, it really justifies the price difference and is much stronger and longer lasting. Sweet Smoke is id say overall 97-98% identical. Al Haramain Amber Oud Tobacco I say is about 95% identical. If you prefer longevity and sillage, choose one of the two dupes. If you prefer more spice and clove, choose Al Haramain. If you want to keep it as close to Tom Ford without a crazy price, Sweet Smoke. If you prefer smooth, more rounded and ever so slightly sweeter, while losing sillage and longevity, choose Tom Ford.

I have not smelt Tom Ford Private Blend Tobacco Vanille, but if Sweet Smoke is as close to it as people say it is, I can understand why it is a beloved unisex scent that I think leans more masculine. Not that women can't pull it off, but I think the notes are more masculine. It opens with a strong tobacco note that lingers through out due to it opening with tobacco and having a tobacco flower note. I made the mistake of wearing this to work on a colder day. I work at a school and when we were outside a student smelt the tobacco coming off the wind and said "I smell cigarettes or tobacco." This was about 6 hours after the initial spray. I think I did three sprays so that is amazing. Besides the tobacco note is vanilla which maybe helps the tobacco note. There is a coffee note, though it is more bean or dark roast. There are a slight dried fruit and a slight resin too which maybe helps with the tobacco sticking through. Performance as I said is really good. It projects for about three hours if not strong, nearly strong. It lasts on my skin about 10 hours off of 3 sprays. As I mentioned, 6 hours after spraying I did get a reaction, albeit a negative reaction, mainly due to tobacco being frowned upon by younger generations (even me though most tobacco scents don't actually annoy me, unless it is smokier.) Use I find is a problem with Sweet Smoke, if there is one. As I work at a school, I cannot wear it at work. The district I work at (and I'm sure others) have a no smoking on the job policy. They smell this on you and you can easily get in trouble for that. In an office, you might have HR problems from this one too. It is good for dates, maybe going out (not clubbing) and dressed up cooler weather occasions. Sadly, I don't have much I can do that with. Overall Sweet Smoke falls into Club de Nuit Intense Men category. It is a love, but I cannot ever see getting a bottle of it. I have the travel decant and when that is done, maybe I'd get a second if I need a filler. That said, I do love the scent. I just don't have a use for it. It is unique to my collection, but since I mostly work, I don't have a need for it. For this I rate it an 8.4 out of 10. For what it does, it does great. Smells great, performs and works in the right situation. In the wrong situation, you might find yourself in trouble.

Every time I put this on it seems better.......Deep Wisdom. 3/3/23 In January, I said: This was one fragrance in a "sample pack" (brilliant idea), my first experience with AF. I "LOVE" all eight (they threw in a "sample" I hadn't ordered). I've only had them for a little over a week, barely enough time to "get around" to each of them, however, they have made my other "designer colognes" obsolete. I have Aventis, (2 other Creed), Layton, Boss, Valentino, Armani, Ford and others, but I haven't referred to any of them since receiving these, and I like them more and more each day. Of the fragrances I have the AF's are "at least as good" but in most cases better (the nuance, durability and wearability quotient. The qualifier I'll throw in, is that I don't wear fragrance for "compliments" or what other people think of what I'm wearing. I love the experience for myself. I wear it on the back of my hands, on my sleeve, on a handkerchief, in my car. I like catching a "whiff" now and then as I move through the day....on my pillow at night. It adds to my Joy and Love of Life, my "state of Being" in the world. I'm eager for my next "sampler" of other "flavors". Is it possible I'll feel the same about another seven?

A sniff off the bottle and it is a dead ringer for Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille. But dont get too excited, there are differences. After spraying Sweet Smoke you can smell that they are different. The tobacco note is sharper, more pronounced and different. The tonka is wetter, more harsh. One can definitely smell that same Alexandria Fragrances musk/fixative that is in most, if not all, of their offerings. That is a big negative in this fragrance. After an hour the scent settles and starts to sweeten becoming closer to Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille. However it never fully achieves a dead on dupe. A few hours into the scent it is at its best, and smells most similar Tobacco Vanille. It is not as smoothly blended as Tobacco Vanille, and lacks that delectable vibe. It seems to lack the chocolate notes that Tobacco Vanille brings. However, it is a nice fragrance and definitely affordable alternative. 88% - 92% similar imho.

This fragrance is inspired by Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille. I have tried out Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille, but these two fragrances smell completely different on my skin. For the Tom Ford version, on my skin it just smells like a sickeningly sweet honey. That was a big let down for me. But Sweet Smoke smells completely different on my skin. I get a combination of tobacco, vanilla, cacao, spices and other woody notes, all of which surprisingly smell like a nice spicy chai latte, and on the dry down (I'm talking 8 hrs later) I get sort of a toasted marshmallow scent. I really really like this one and hope to get a bottle of it in the future. As for performance, as stated I get 8+ hours out of it, and it creates a nice scent bubble to where every time I move, I get nice gentle whiffs of this stuff. I would recommend this only for cold weather, as in the summer time it would be too rich in the heat.

This is definitely stronger than Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille, but different scent profiles This is quite sweet with a lot of cinnamon- reminds me of your typical starbucks white girl and uggs combo. but then combined with the darker resin and tobocco- the girl drinking her iced chai from starbucks goes out for a quick smoke break smoking a vanilla backwoods. If you buy this with the intention of a 1:1 clone its not gonna meet it. But as a spicy, sweet fall fragrance that has good projection and longevity,. its an easy buy. Not as mysterious as other dark sweet spicy tobacco- more on that sweet coffee date type of scent. Its pretty easy to pull off.

This definitely has a similar smell to Tobacco Vanille (from my somewhat limited smelling of that one), has the sparkling vanilla which personally reminds me of a root beer float and a bit of a tobacco smell. I'm not sure where "coffee" came from as a listed note. It definitely doesn't smell like coffee and isn't listed in the OG. There is something that reminds me of cloves (which is a prominent spice used in Chai Lattes), so I can see the comparisons to a chai latte. However, this doesn't smell like tea (nor coffee), so I can't explain the coffee note. Performance is good, seems to last all day which is all I'd want from this.

Definitely a good interpretation. I feel that I cannot distinguish the drydowns. I feel like this is overall slightly sweeter. The opening of TV has a round chocolate tobacco to it, whereas this feels like a spicier (peppery) cigar. I heard this described as "herbal". I preferred the opening that TV has, though I think I possibly prefer the drydown of this. Again though, considering the price... this is amazing. Of note is that everyone around me preferred the opening of this to TV! A little more crowd-pleasing with the slightly increased sweetness compared to the intriguing, perhaps more complex (challenging?) TV.

Absolutely spot on...maybe one of AFs closest to the OG. Opens with that familiar sweet spiciness. One of the best openings in the game. As it dries down, the tobacco and vanilla continue to come to the forefront, they blend so well with the spices note. Ultimately, it becomes a beautiful smooth vanilla fragrance. Longevity is not one of AFs best, but it lasts longer than OG. Projection is great for first couple of hours before settling in to personal space. Easily a unisex fragrance. An easy recommend from me. If you’re not familiar with the DNA, sample it one way or another before purchase.

I've got tftv on one hand and sweet smoke on the other, They are almost identical, tftv smells slightly sweeter at spritz, like the inside of a Christmas fruit pie but as they dried they became so close in smell I couldn't tell them apart. I think there is a place on the market for both but for me personally I purchased Sweet Smoke in 30ml as it was affordable. Thankyou Alexandria perfume for this very realistic alternative. The silage is amazing, I can smell it from one end of the house to the other. I am actually loving sweet smoke more than Tobacco Vanille . Now I want a big bottle. A+ ❤

I must say, this fragrance, in particular, is truly best used from fall to winter... The moderate smell of vanilla and spicy tobacco leaves gives off a different impression like a hint of cinnamon (maybe from the tonka beans?) when I wear it on different occasions... I would say that this isn’t for all types of skin which can decrease longevity... On my end, it lasted 4 to 6 hours maximum... Overall, I highly recommend it to those who favor a moderate fragrance that doesn’t overpower and favors sweet scents...

A clone of TV? Yes, but better at a price that doesn’t say Tom Ford (i.e. overpriced). I don’t get the sickening sweet honey of TV on the dry down. HUGE plus.

to my nose it's mostly a sweet chai tea latte with some tobacco. Love it

I bought this based on the forum talk and reviews here on Fragrantica. I had my TF TV on one arm and my Sweet Smoke on the other. They didn't smell alike at all on the initial spray. I get smoke first and foremost from TV, but spices came out first for me in the SS. A few minutes in, it was a BLAST of cinnamon with the SS. Yes, it's not on the pyramid, but that's what I smelled. I had FOUR other people sniff this and they smelled the same thing: cinnamon. Then as the dry down began, I got a more piney-spicy smell from both the SS and TV (yes again, no pine on the pyramid, but that's the best I can describe it... maybe that wood resin?). I was actually getting annoyed because I think the SS brought out the more latent parts of TV, and I didn't like them. Not for me as a woman. This louder spiciness smelled more manly, more generic "Cologne for Men," less mysterious, less sexy. But then came the smoke. When both were fully dry they smelled very similar. I got my smoke. Still a hint of the spice in the SS, so if you like that, go for it. And I will say SS does seem more masculine (for that very reason), than the TF version, IMO. It IS very close to the TF. Very very close. Not exact though, but impressive. I do think Alexandria is stronger. Many of the reviews I've read say AF is stronger than TF, so that is a plus. Worth a try; it's a lot cheaper! For me though, I am sticking to the TV because it is more Stevie Nicks billowing out of the fog on stage before singing Gypsy, and that's the essence I'm after.

Natural smell but on me it didn't sum up to the marketing or the note listing. It started with a strong clove smell, natural and powerful (I like cloves) and quickly dried down to a clove smell with an oily natural vanilla. In fact it smelled exactly like Vanilla Essence Extract (food flavouring) like my mother used to put into her cakes. So much so that was all I could think of. I swear that this is all that this is. So, maybe there is tobacco in there but I can;t help but feel this was/is creative marketing hiding a simple formula. The sweet smoke label to me was completely misleading though sweet it is. I certainly didn't feel this was a tobacco scent but a natural gourmand smell.

ive been keeping score before i pulled the trigger on sweet smoke and do i regret it? well to improve my frag collection, i didnt have a cool weather tobacco dominating frag. for me it starts with tom ford at the top then herod and tabac rouge. tabac rouge was off putting to me. herod is cool. wanting TV but at times when a budget friendly shows up. sweet smoke fills that void...At least i wanted it to and tried to act like it satisfies that tobacco spot on my roster..its not perfect but it smells similar to tobacco vanille, i say 70%. syrupy tobacco and vanilla dominates and i do get some dried fruits in the background. Basically this is a watered down tobacco vanille.

This isn't a fragrance that young folks can pull off. The aroma is that of a middle-aged, well groomed and sophisticated man that would be spending his afternoons walking through a tobacco field smoking on a vanilla stick. Its a nice smell, but something that Id only wear when I am with the fellas heading to a cigar event or just around the late fall evenings while smoking a cigar in the park. It's sweet with warm tobacco, zesty and spicey at the same time, almost like the old Cuba colognes and a mix of Calvin Kleins Obsession, but still has its distinctions. Doesn't smell cheap at all. Definitely worth trying out! 7/10 for me.

Compared directly with TFTV, one spray on each wrist. At first spray they smell quite differently. While TFTV feels pretty smooth and almost soapy, Sweet Smoke is stronger and more spicier. As someone previously mentioned, it really smells like cinnamon, even if this note is not listed (I even checked with cinnamon I have in the kitchen). I also smell cloves. The "spicy" and strength difference is still there on the dry down and several hours later, but much less obvious. SS 's longevity is a tad better. Overall a nice perfume on its own right, not identical to TFTV, but from the same "family" so to speak.

Really good attempt at the dried red/black fruit notes that are the magic thing in Tobacco Vanille that people always forget! Dua Sweet Tabacum does the TF TV tobacco & vanilla blend a bit better, but misses the dried fruits completely. Both are clones that are missing the other piece so I'd recommend waiting for TF TV to go on discount as your best bet still. This paired with Dua Sweet Tabacum makes a very close smell to TF TV on the dry down - but for the price of both to combine them you're probably best off just waiting for TF TV to go on discount.

I love this scent! It's sweetness and warm/peppery tobacco is intoxicating. HOWEVER, longevity on my skin is about 4hrs MAX! Maybe it's just my pH or possibly a different batch. It smells amazing the first 2hrs and then swiftly fades to a skin scent the last two hours. At 5-6hrs it's barely detectable. Don't get me wrong, it's awesome especially on a cool/cold day but I just wish it lasted longer on my skin. But at this price point I just bring it with me and reapply and I'm good to go.

I’m a huge fan of Tom Ford TV, but it’s now become redundant since getting Sweet Smoke. It’s a little lighter on the vanilla but boy oh boy what an interpretation! This is masterfully blended, and dare I say goes head to head with TV...but consider the price and it blows TV out of the water. This is beast mode on me, sprayed twice and it was on steroids! For me personally, it’s a masterpiece.

Can definitely see the similarity to TV as it has a very similar nutmeg/clove type of spice. Very reminiscent of a chai latte as others have mentioned. Personally I don't get any tobacco but I do get a nice chocolatey dry down which is very pleasant. Great cozy scent for fall and winter days.

Sweet, spicy and smokey. I like it. My sister tried stealing this from me lol I got really curious about this brand, but I don't know if I can justify the price for simply being an imitation house. It lacks lasting power as well, but imo the closest it'll get to TFTV.

Stronger and a little spicier than Tobacco Vanille. I love it and it's the best Alexandria fragrance I've tried so far. With 3 sprays to the chest and neck area, projection is moderate and longevity is great--I'm still getting good whiffs 8 hours after applying.

Smells a little bit spiceier than TV, but like all Alexandria fragrances I've dealt with, the longevity is terrible. 4-5 hours, max. In my opinion, save your money for a decant of the OG.

Maybe it’ll smell better in the cold. In Texas heat it’s not good to be blunt. Even inside it’s mid at best. Going to save my decant for cold weather and try again then.

If I didn't own the OG, I would adore this! It's very good. Lighter than TFTV, less rich/creamy, opening isn't as smooth, less dominate but still impressive.

This Alexandia "clone" is one of the better ones. It's pretty good in most categories of performance. The scent is decent and it's a solid release.

Smells like a tj maxx candle. Idk some ppl might love it. I don’t get it. It’s alright but nothing to write home about

Not a good substitute for tobacco TV. Similarity is 50% at best.. Al Haramain amber oud tobacco is a better approximation, and a better deal. Agree with amersa, paying $60+ for 55 mL of an interpretation (never real clones, never identical to original) is crazy. After 9+ Alexandrias and a 5+ Duas I’ve learned my lesson, they are never like the real thing, and if you are looking for similar scents/experience, there are always better options at a lower cost for us. (I am starting to believe that Alexandria F. hires some reviewers, because most of their offerings have always high scores in Fragrantica, with raving reviews, and although they don’t smell bad, most of them are mediocre copies. Hey Alexandria!! That type of marketing is deceptive! ) It seems that gas chromatography can’t yet replace a real perfumer, who might be also working with some captive molecules that will not be available to the public. So, Sniffing clones can be fun, if they are reasonably priced, but don’t take them seriously, and don’t spend serious money on them.;)

Did a direct compare with decants of both, and based on test strips (haven't tried on skin yet), sweet smoke is more spicier, while TV is more tobacco. Both are similar to around 85-90%, but what's funny is I get a rice pudding type feel with sweet smoke. That might sound odd, but the vanilla and cinnamon with a slight lactonic feel give it a slightly different character. Cinnamon and clove are the star of the SS version hence why I said it's spicier, while TV the tobacco and vanilla are the star. Now you might say this is a fail, but oddly enough the difference isn't a deal breaker as both smell good in their own way and are still close. By far the best overall TV clone I tried to date, but not a direct 1 to 1. I would say that SS suits Christmas time even more than the OG. If you want a slight twist from the original, try a sample. Edit: dry down (2 hours or so) gets closer and it becomes around 95% similar.

Many years ago, I worked in a pipe tobacco shop, creating and blending unique recipes. I can still remember being up to my wrists in bags of Virginia, Burley, and Cavendish tobaccos. Real pipe tobacco has such a wonderful aroma. There's nothing like it. When I sprayed on Sweet Smoke for the first time, I gasped. I was suddenly right back in that pipe tobacco shop, mixing and packaging two ounce bags of new product. I've smelled half a dozen or more "tobacco" fragrances, many of them very good, but nothing I've experienced so far has smelled so exactly like the real thing. That sweet and spicy Cavendish smell sticks around for 6-8 hours (amazing -- I figured the top notes would disappear long before that), and when it fades you are left with a creamy vanilla base that has been there all along, supporting the tobacco smell. Over all, the fragrance lasts 10-12 hours. Great longevity.

1) This. Does. Not. Smell. Like. Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille. 2) At all. 3) Blind Buy 4) My 9th (or 10th) Alexandria is my worst experience thus far-- Sweet Smoke is more akin to Bentley Intense / Spice Bomb / you-name-it spice & fake tobacco fragrance. And a Lower End one at that. This is just about Zara quality. It smells cheap. Very cheap. And guess what-- it's not that strong either. 5) Not a safe Blind Buy. 6) I'm having some doubts about Alexandria. They seem to be 50/50 now with me. So far, my Alexandria HITS are Carve On and Hawaiian Volcano Intense (both spectacular!). Everything else has been good/pretty good/OK , so Sweet Smoke is the anchor that's bringing the bell curve down to the bottom of the tar pits. (My other recent failure , Apple Crumb, isn't helping any!) Oh well.....

I was trying to isolate what fragrance this reminded me of and it wasn’t TF Tabacco Vanille. I don’t own it and has been quite a while since I’ve tested it but it didn’t instantly provide a scent recollection. I did realize this is a dead ringer for BDK Rouge Smoking, which is a newer acquisition for me (bought it after a recent trip to Las Vegas after I used up a sample). I get that same sweet, smoky, cinnamon bubble gum scent. I travel for work a lot so it just made more sense to travel with more affordable options. I tend to be more of a snob when it comes to fragrance and will therefore purchase the original as opposed to an inspired fragrance BUT this house is phenomenal. I have acquired quite a few just to solely travel with and I couldn’t be happier.

The opening is somewhat similar to TV....but a couple minutes after spraying this goes in a completely different direction... nowhere near Tobacco Vanille in terms of scent profile. Some notes actually do remind me --in a passing sort of way-- of other TV fragrances. for instance, the vanilla here is reminiscent of the rubbery vanilla note in the base of Black Orchid and Roja Dove's Enigma . The coumarin/tonka accord goes in more of a cinnamon and clove direction... actually sort of has a ACT mouthwash/Maker's Mark vibe. The honey and mown-hay sticky quality I get from the actual TV is nowhere to be found here. You might like it, but if you're looking for a proper dupe, this ain't it.

Fantastic! I had the opportunity to smell this wrist to wrist with the original Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille and the similarities are 95%. Performance is impressive and projection is top notch; I've worn this to bed and smelled it in the morning. As far as scent goes, I get sweet spiciness working well with gourmand nuances. I love this scent and it's one of those must haves for cooler weather and date nights. I smell tobacco, vanilla and spices. This is a very wearable scent that is appropriate for work when sprayed modestly and perfect for cooler temperature date nights if sprayed a little heavier. A must have no question.

It seems like Hany is onto something! I have purchased Hawaii Volcano in lieu of Creed's Virgin Island Water, and I love Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille, yet cannot own a bottle due to price and quite honestly, the longevity I got with a sample wasn't the greatest. But for something (that I have yet to smell) to almost be a clone and project and last a lot longer, is definitely something that we can all get behind. Once I receive my first purchase from Mr. Hafez, that will be the deciding factor whether I get Sweet Smoke! I can't wait!

I don’t own Tom Ford TV, but I have sampled it in a store. If was love at first smell. I sprayed it on and went to lunch with the intention of returning to buy a bottle. But it dried down - on my skin - to an overly sweet honey smell. Gone was the wonderful spicy complexity from the opening Sweet Smoke is remarkably close, though I am working from memory. And it maintains that wonderful opening from TV. This is absolutely wonderful.

This blend truly is amazing. TV is so good but I could never pull the trigger on the price. I found this and pulled the trigger because of the reviews. It really is 95% TV. The vanilla in TV is like a candle and this vanilla is more powdery. But you have to really smell them together to distinguish.

It’s really good. Not an exact clone but an inspiration and reminds more of chai tea from starbucks.. Its still super nice smelling and very easy to wear. Projects better than the TF TV so.. Thats great.

I do believe that any clone perfume that cost more than 50$ for 100ML considered to be overpriced that's because there are many high quality designer perfumes price 60-90$.

Sweet Smoke is spicier with the vanilla turned down a notch. It is a great alternative but it does not work as a replacement.
