The Irish Gentleman

The Irish Gentlemen vs. Green Irish Tweed. The openings on both of these are amazing. Irish Gentlemen opens strong, bright, and has a more aquatic vibe than GIT. GIT is greener at the opening, projects like a monster, and has a darker vibe overall. I'd say they are 98% similar in the opening. In the drydown the two fragrances change, I'd say starting at 95% and moving towards 85% by hour 3 or 4. The biggest difference is that GIT remains green and darker. Irish Gentlemen gets lighter, more aquatic, and sweeter with time. Longevity... the crytonite of both Irish Gentlemen and GIT. I got a solid 4 hours from both, with GIT being the stronger of the two. As far as co-workers, unimously my female co-workers all chose GIT, 20 - 0! However, all of them really loved Irish Gentlemen. It was well received and a mass pleaser. Irish Gentlemen vs. Chez Bond. Summary 100% identical... lol. Seems fitting since Chez Bond is a copy of GIT as well. Chez Bond edges out Irish Gentlemen in longevity and strength but barely. Overall, Irish Gentlemen is amazing! There is no way without the original as comparison that you'd be able to tell the difference on someone wearing it. What it lacks in longevity it easy makes up for with a strong 2 hours of projection (think CAHSEE). It's super mass pleasing, and highly under-rated imo. Considering the cost difference Irish Gentlemen is a no brainer.

This is truly the best dupe of GIT. The wet inital period seems to be the one thing none of the dupes are able to create, TIG included. However, after the first 5-10 minutes, I as an avid lover of GIT cannot tell the difference between the two. Its a 99.9% match AFTER the wet initial period. This also last ALOT longer. This beats any other GIT dupe hands down. We all love that initial period of GIT, and none seem to capture that. However, lets be honest, no one smells that portion except you and whomever is around you for the first 5 minutes. By the the time you're out the door, its drying down and GIT and TIG are 99% identical. Save your money. Anyone who snubs their nose at this is someone who has a lot of money and just hates the concepts of dupes in general. I'm never going back to GIT despite my love for that initial green wet burst. This is just longer lasting, more affordable and hence the sillage and longevity makes it better than the OG.

THE IRISH GENTLEMAN 4/30/25 So happy! I never wore Green Irish Tweed. But I wore Davidoff Cool Water all through the 90s and early 00s. It was superb. I just bought TIG a few months ago. It reminds me 100% of vintage Cool Water. I am so happy with it. Lasting 6-7 hours from the first spray of bottle. Classic aquatic/green. The notes for Cool Water are what I sense. The notes listed above for TIG seem wrong to me. You won't be disappointed. Smiling the whole time wearing this because of all the good memories made with Cool Water. Fantastic scent and good performance already. As it macerates...should become stellar. Great for office and casual. Spring/Summer. 60F or warmer. Love the feeling it gives me about Life! Ready to make new memories with The Irish Gentleman!

I tested this side by side with the original and I am really impressed. I would say its about 90-95% close. IG is a tad bit greener, while GIT is slightly creamier. As far as longevity, I feel like IG edges out slightly. It lasts around 7 hours on my skin BUT the last 3-4 hours are a bit of skin scent, but definitely there. GIT lasts around 4-5 hours with last 2 hours being a skin scent. Overall this is a fantastic clone, and definitely smells like GIT, unlike many clones that smell more like cool water.

Had a bottle of Green Irish Tweed recently and it was underwhelming in the performance arena. In fact, performance was downright poor and the bottle was nowhere worth the price being asked. Problem was that I loved the scent and wanted a good alternative, so I tired a bottle of Alexandria's The Irish Gentleman, and I must say that it smells great. The dry down is basically what I would be looking for from GIT, and the longevity is much better than GIT. Highly recommended over GIT as an alternative.

I love this scent on its own but it's extremely close to GIT. A little more powdery than grassy in the opening and maybe a little less earthy in the dry down but my nose doesn't really detect a difference, but still very close and a suitable replacement. Great office scent. If you want to blow your mind, layer this with Vintage 1978. It's the perfect green. I'm thinking about calling it St. Andrews Links or Vintage Tartan or Blackwatch Vintage...

This is a very good inspiration of Creed GIT which is usually compared to cool water but it is different as in this one you sense richer and more notes detected by the nose which are the verbena and the iris at the dry down phase which I do not quite get with cool water. It’s soft, tender, manly and elegant and does not feel outdated. For performance I get a full day easily 8-9 hours of longevity

A very green, clean, fresh citrusy spring/summer scent. Although it contains aquatic notes too it does not smell sea-faring. As a Creed Green Irish Tweed clone, I also find it to be in the same freshie vein as the barbershop leaning Chanel's Egoiste Platinum. That said, this is a perfect replacement for GIT, which is ridiculously overpriced. Much better value for money and superior performance.

Today I landed on a planet called "Alexandria Fragrances". Yes, like a tourist. I don't feel new air in my nose because the same planet reminds me of the environment of Green Irish Tweed. Same notes but in my opinion the performance of this clone beats Creed's masterpiece. But when it comes to olfactory masterpieces, words are not enough. Seeing is believing. 10/10.

Exceptional clone. Great quality and really well blended. Does start off stronger than the original Creed but overall longevity is relatively the same. Strong on the lemon and violet from the start. For the price this is a winner if you are looking for a cheaper version of Creeds Green Irish Tweed... Enjoy!

This is a good clone of GIT. I have GIT and Tres Nuit and Greenley (I know its a different, but related) and I would put this right under GIT. Still not amazing projection or longevity. Guess it's just nature of the composition. None of them are that great.

Smells like the GIT I sampled ab 7yrs ago lol. I like it - it’s a buy. Alexandria has nailed all their creed clones that I’ve tried (have not tried their aventus dupe bc parfums vintage emperor is identical to my 15 bottle of aventus and I like it too much)

Inspired by Green Irish Tweed. I could say that this is really 99,9% identical to the one form Creed. Powerful and classy. A real European middle-age gentleman scent! Really 80s style!

-The lemon verbena is more pronounced and of higher quality in GIT than TIG. This is more of a 'candy' or 'sweet' lemon/citrus, that reminds me a bit of how it's used in Zion's opening. -I get more iris in GIT than TIG -The blending is different, there's more green/spice in GIT's opening and more citrus with a muted green underneath in TIG. It's also better in Creed's, so that's part of what you pay for, even if it's overpriced!! -The drydown in TIG is greener and an 'improvement' over the opening, as it seems to settle down a bit. This leads me to think it will improve overall after some time. It stays 'louder' and 'sweeter' than GIT, which has an unmistakable elegance and noticeable ambergris. -Both go through most of their life in that first 3-4 hours, but GIT is more evenly distributed than TIG which seems to fall off a cliff/disappear. Caveats AF is known for having fragrances that take a bit of time to mature and usually improve in that time, so I'll revisit this next Spring. I've had experience with many AF 'inspiration' fragrances but have never owned the original to compare it to! Except for Megatron and Megamare and thank goodness Megatron barely resembles its inspiration. Overall, I give this one a 8/10 for now. Main differences being TIG is sweeter/fresher in the opening and GIT is greener/spicier in the opening; GIT is blended better and the base notes (ambergis and sandalwood) are stronger. Warmer weather and time will almost certainly do it more justice. I do believe that some elements, like ambergris, are nearly impossible to emulate at a lower price point. So my gut is telling me that even though GIT is overpriced, it is going to provide a noticeable difference. In other words, TIG can't replace or surpass its inspiration. TIG is still a good fragrance but I may bite the bullet and buy a bottle of GIT at some point. A 100 ml will last me 4-5 years anyway, even with heavy use, since I already own 20+.

One of AFs best clones. Opens up green and powdery. Dry down brings out a beautiful green/floral violet and smooth sandalwood. Very well blended to give off the beautiful DNA GIT is known for. Longevity is easy full work day and this projects extremely well for the first few hours. Not much else to say but, if you like GIT, do not hesitate to check this one out. This is an easy buy for me.

This inst green this is an aquatic. This smells like Cool Water with more depth, EDP with a better dry down. Not a GIT clone, but awesome all on its own. Been waiting for something like this since Cool Water lacks in the quality department.

The Irish Gentleman was one of four samples I purchased from Alexandria Fragrances. This was the strongest of the four, but unfortunately, and to be generous, I believe I was sent immature product. A faint smell of lemon verbena was there but it faded in about 15 minutes to literally no scent at all on my skin. I first thought I must have some kind of fatigue with the scent so I checked my other fragrances, including ones with citrus notes, and my sense of smell was functioning normally. I have seen a few other complaints of immature product being sent to customers by Alexandria Fragrances on the internet, so I am going to revisit this fragrance in a month or two and see if it has improved in the interim. As of now, I do not recommend you purchase this. 1 month update: smells like a basket full of fresh laundry. Stronger than it was before, but not good enough to be a fragrance to wear. For Chanel level pricing per ml I find what they sent me a disgrace.

Very violet & ambergris heavy for the 1st hour. Not as green & that fantastic Verbina found in the OG is lagging here. I get whiffs of Erolfa’s dry down as the fragrance enters the mid for another hour. TIG dries down to classic Creed ambergris/ sandalwood scent. No creaminess here folks. Recommend going lite on the sprayer as the aroma can become quite heavy/ intense in a murky floral/ musky way. Resemblance to Ass Water aka Cool Water is there somewhat, but to compare quality’s between the two is almost criminal. Solid dupe. I’d recommend 👍🏽

Some things to know... First, despite denials by Creed, the formulation of GIT has changed. I've worn it for almost two decades, so trust me on this one. The new formulation more resembles the original Cool Water EDT than the original GIT. Second, this Alexandria version is spot on old-school GIT -- classy, green, a tad aquatic (but not too much), uplifting, with a great sandalwoody dry down. It both calms and invigorates you. Third, and best, this Irish Gentleman is a parfum extract, which is 38% oils (instead of the usual EDP 18%) and therefore smells stronger and lasts much longer. Then, there's this bonus: You can purchase a 30 ml bottle for a song compared to the highway robbery cost of name-brand Creed fragrances. In short, this is what GIT should be and a bargain, too. How great is that?!?

I already have a current formulation of Cool water, would Irish Gentleman be redundant (bearing in mind the comments about it being aquatic more than green and simply being a denser version of CW?) I don't want two scents that are essentially the same or almost.
