The Thinker

Of the 3-pack that I bought (Dreamer, Thinker, Ritualist), this is currently my favourite one. It's got a great vibe, it's pleasant but it's not overbearing or aggressive, so it became my go-to for everyday fragrance, often combined with the Ritualist for layering. It is also the one I always pack for trips or festivals 😊

One of my most fav perfumes right now. Fresh at first but with deep tones and very unique combination of ingredients. Suitable for work as well as a night out! Def buying again when I finish it.

This one is my favourite from Alexmonhart. I tried the whole discovery set and this one goes perfectly with The Ritualist and The Minimalist if you are into layering.

#74 of My Fragrance Journey - Alexmonhart The Thinker: Learning How to Be Alone The train from Prague bends south through morning fog, and I’m thinking about silence. Not the comfortable kind. The necessary kind. The kind that lets you hear your own thoughts over the city’s constant, grinding hum. I’m wearing The Thinker by Alexmonhart. It felt appropriate. The brief from Alexmonhart talks about paper, thoughts, black on black. Introspection. Honestly, that’s exactly what it smells like. Not in a literal way - but in a mood way. Spatially. In the way silence has texture. The opening is sharp. Citrus, but cold. Not sunny citrus. More like biting into the air itself. Green. Dry. Slightly hostile. It doesn’t welcome you - it wakes you up. It becomes earthy, dry, and faintly smoky. There’s grit here. Something spicy and herbal, but restrained. And then - this papery texture appears. Dry fibres. Dust. Old pages. Not decay. Just time. Like opening a book that’s been waiting for you longer than you realised. There’s a bitterness underneath. Quiet, deliberate. It slows everything down. About twenty minutes in, it softens. The fragrance transitions into a gentler, flowery flow. Lavender emerges, but it’s not barbershop lavender. Not clean. Not performative. It feels distant. Abstract. Like the idea of lavender rather than the plant itself. It doesn’t freshen the scent - it deepens it. Makes it more human. The drydown is where it really becomes skin. Creamy sandalwood. Smooth. Warm, but not sweet. And something mineral, slightly salty - ambergris, I think. It smells human at this point. Like skin after a long day. Like fabric that’s absorbed your life. It never projects loudly. Never tries to perform. And I respect that. Performance is... modest. Four, maybe six hours. It fades gently. No drama. No final speech. It just leaves. Which, strangely, feels right. I ended my walk near a small pond outside Benešov. Flat water. Grey sky. I lifted my wrist, and the scent was barely there - just a trace. Ambergris, maybe. A shadow of vetiver. But it was enough. This isn't a fragrance that announces you. It accompanies you. It creates space. It listens. And somewhere between the cold opening and that final quiet exhale of sandalwood, something shifted - not in the scent, but in me. The thing I'd been carrying when I boarded the train in Prague had not disappeared, but it had changed shape. It was smaller now. More manageable. More mine. I don't know if that's the fragrance or the walking or just the hours passing. Probably all three. But The Thinker was there for it, which is more than I can say for most things. Some people wear fragrance to be seen. This one is for wearing when you need to see yourself more clearly. Not loud. Not obvious. Just present - the way the best company always is.
