Edit: I am actually loving this. On skin the spice and darkness comes out a bit more. The Grey Flannel connection is still evident but not quite as strongly. A bit less dapper too with the florals turned down and the spice and dark woods (oud is mentioned in the advertising, smells more like guaiac with a touch of patch to me) turned up. Very wearable, strength is just right for this kind of frag. If the opening was a bit richer and more natural and there was a touch more depth to the base this feels like it would fit in the Memo lineup, like a noir variation of French Leather (like a mix of French Leather and Oriental Leather). Now on to the original review... Old school floral indeed, and as mentioned in a previous review definitely quite dapper. It didn't take me long to figure out what this reminds me of... Grey Flannel. It doesn't have the mimosa or quite as much violet as GF but the floralcy is definitely similar, with a "round and smooth" quality to it that comes across as a gentleman's powder. And despite not being listed there is definitely violet and some violet leaf here. Just take a look at the notes list of almost anything on the reminds me of list... All list either violet, violet leaf, or iris/orris (which is violet flowery in scent). So GF but less overtly floral, darker and a bit more modern, with a smooth lightly spiced suede taking the place of the missing florals and "retro haze". While it is more modern than GF it does not read as actually 2020's modern. Thankfully less strong than GF which is absolutely nuclear, this falls into the realm of comfortably wearable, moderate to good projection and 10-12 hour longevity, although a skin scent after about 6. Colors perceived: Burgundy and black Streaks of white and dark green Edit again: Another comparison struck me. Grey Flannel crossed with Narciso Rodriguez for him (the original).

This is my personal favorite of the entire Alfa Romeo lineup. It has the best opening whilst green has a subjectively better dry down, especially if you like vanilla. Black starts off really beautiful, opening with sweet warm spices and woody notes. It still has a slightly fresh and citrusy quality that looms in the background but the warm spices paired with sweetness and woods are definitely the star of the show. I don't get any leather or even florals out of this particular fragrance. It's just a very pleasant and versatile masculine daily that is perfect for those who love scents like Azzaro The Most Wanted Parfum or Dusk By The Woods, as well as other sweet and woody scent profiles! Very addictive scent and I'm not sure why the score on this one is so low, especially when it's under $20 for such a great scent and is the best fragrance from Alfa overall!

I am a fan of the Alfa Romeo fragrances. I just picked this one up, and I like it a lot. I don't feel like the leather is subtle in the opening, but it becomes subtle as the fragrance dries down. Still, it is my favorite component of the fragrance. I like the citrusy-floral combined with something a bit like petrichor but rounder, can't quite place it... but altogether reminds me a bit of bubblegum, although I wouldn't call this fragrance sweet. Imagine yourself sitting on your old leather couch with your girlfriend, the window is open and there's a slight breeze coming through after it had rained a little while ago, and she is chewing bubblegum and giving off a subtle rose-citrus, maybe it is her shampoo or hairspray. I really love fragrances that paint a picture of an experience in my mind, and that sums it up for me. Alfa Romeo you did it again.

Unique among my collection. After the alcohol-y initial blast it dries into a dark, sweet and tobacco-like scent. The Alcantara leather sits comfortably in the background of it all. Quite a delight. My gf rated it an 8 (she rates most of my fragrances a 7). I wasn't paying attention to the longevity but it has an arms length sillage and decent longevity at least 6 hours (I apply lotion first). My friend smelled it and now wants to buy it off me and I am almost certain I will sell it to him as a favor. If I see Alfa Romeo Black on the rack of my local Ross/Burlington I will not hesitate to buy it. 8.9/10

Alfa Romeo Black is an interesting fragrance and somewhat unusual. I think the dark wood + elemi do the main job. I like it a lot and I am happy to made this blind buy especially for £ 15.95. Modern fragrance for a classic man. Performance is good!

Not huge on citrus, but pretty bold on woodsy notes. Dries off with a good blend of aromatic and woodsy. Not my bf's preferred scent but I honestly cannot get enough of it. I spray it on myself sometimes and the sillage and longevity are very good.

Unique scent. Very spicy. I like it. But longevity very poor. I got around 4 hours only. 8/10

This is actually pretty decent for the price! The smell is also unique imo.

Remember those scented markers from elementary school? Remember the black one? Smells sort of like licorice? Yeah, this is that. With that said, it’s more complex, nuanced and for what it’s worth, a pretty damn good fragrance. You can expect only so much from a $15 car brand fragrance you pick up from Ross, but I’d say the bar was set rather low, and this exceeded. There is a trajectory with this fragrance, it begins with a blast of some sort of Rosey, Sweet & Spicy facet, not dissimilar to Pink Pepper. The resins are there too. It’s mature, but somewhat playful. This almost feels like a repurposed 90s fragrance. There’s a slight similarity to Toy Boy by Moschino, another masculine Rose fragrance that doesn’t involve Oud or Incense like most seem to. I guess that’s the other plus of this fragrance; for how simple it is, it retains a fair amount of uniqueness, it’s not one-to-one with anything. I have absolutely no idea what Alecantra smells like, but if it’s something like “new car leathery” type of smell, I guess that vibe is there. There is a new car smell to this, but not synthetic or annoying. Id say the phantom note in this fragrance is licorice. Funny how it’s also my favorite aspect of the fragrance, but it happens to not even exist. Guess I’ll give the fragrance phantom props for that. The dry down is a woody, soft floral easy going smell, not as spicy as the beginning. It’s simple, masculine, easy to wear. Probably best for night outs. Projection is simple as the wear; 6 hours. First hour projects well. If you see it, I’d say grab it. Don’t expect anything mind blowing though. 7/10

As I mentioned in my other reviews, I bought this as part of a set that includes all the Alfa Romeo fragrances from a dealership in Italy. I've already shared my thoughts on the others, and honestly, this one surprised me. As mentioned in my other reviews i bought this one in a set from a dealership in Italy, It doesn't actually smell bad. In fact, it's probably the only one from the set that I would genuinely consider wearing. It doesn't last very long, but I already expected that, so I can't really complain. What surprised me is that the scent actually goes somewhere. It has a pleasant smell and comes across as more expensive than it really is. Of course, at the end of the day, it's still just promotional slop from Alfa Romeo, and nobody is buying this expecting a masterpiece. However, unlike the others, this one feels wearable and doesn't smell like a random Zara fragrance a 10 year old boy would overspray before going to school. The fragrance is fairly simple, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's easy to wear, inoffensive, and doesn't have the harsh synthetic headache-inducing qualities that some of the others in the set had. If someone handed me a bottle of this, I wouldn't mind using it every now and then. Overall, it's nothing special, but compared to the rest of the collection, it's easily one of the better ones and the only one that left me with a somewhat positive impression.

As someone who tends to overspray perfumes (sometimes frags that are quite expensive) I wanted one that I could safely wear on a daily basis without hurting my wallet too much. I came across this one for just 9.90 CHF (around 11 EUR or USD) and thought it looked nice so I bought it. I can't really tell what's in it but I have to say it's an awesome fragrance for what you pay. Of course, you can't expect levels of depth and density that you might get from a designer fragrance but this one pleasantly surprised me with what you get for the price. Not sure if I'm the only one who thinks this way but to me this is like a leathery version of Bleu de Chanel.

For being a cheapie this fragrance surprisingly differentiates itself amongst many others in my fragrance collection. For context I own over 150 niche & designer fragrances. I also own a Alfa Romeo so It was practically a must I added this and I’m glad I did. It has a luxurious feeling to it and has this woody/leathery composition that it retains from just a few minutes after the opening until the dry down. It also surpassed my expectations that the projection was above average as I could smell it wafting off my skin for hours. As I write this the longevity 8 hours later just turned to a skin scent. Overall, not bad at all for cheapie.

This is like Polo Green but a little darker maybe. This is the good one out of the 3 including Blue and Red. I would only recommend Black to be honest. This one stands out and has a uniqueness to it. It also has a very slight sweetness in there as well. It is similar to JV Dark Rebel but it has no booze notes. It's a good one for cheap and if you like more mature scents you could blind buy this and enjoy it. It's not as abrasive as Polo Green.

Wow, it's pretty good! That subtle leather tone with the great peppery opening makes it worthwhile! Better than you think it would be. However, I own two Alfa Romeos - bias alert 😊 I use it exclusively as an evening frag, but it works for every season.

SOTD The opening is unique to my nose. The dry down reminds me of aqua di parma colonia, that kind of gentlemanly scent. Good for the price, but you just a budget one.

Love the initial splash. Transitions to a spicy slightly floral and balsamic masculine scent. Found at Burlington 4.2 oz for $17 made in Italy.

In the dry down, is just like polo, a little weaker, but really good. I just pay 12 bucks at Burlington Really nice scent

Alright, so I picked this up at Ross for shits & giggles simply because of the "leather" and the fact that it was only $12.99 for 100ml. First impression is it's a lot more feminine than I was expecting and very "soft" to boot, which for me is due to the floral accords. When reviews say this is mature, that is why. It actually reminds me of my very dapper uncle back in the 80s when he used to get off work in a suit and tie. It's that old-school floral talcum powder smell, like something you imagine Mr. Peanut wearing. It doesn't necessarily smell bad, just "dated" (a term I typically refrain from using). I like several of the fragrances from when I was growing up in the 80s and think many are still relevant today. However, to me this smells like something that should be reserved for older individuals (and by that I mean those having renewed their AARP memberships several times over). People below constantly mention the "leather" accord. Well, Alcantara is a synthetic polyester microfiber used in cars in lieu of leather...so basically plastic suede. I don't know what factory fresh Alcantara smells like, but if the accord here is in any way similar, it's definitely not like any leather I'm familiar with. The question now is what do I do with this stuff. Well, I'm a big fan of layering fragrances, so I'll most likely try a spritz or two of this with some sharper, drier juices (ex. EN Extreme) or something a little too heavy in need of smoothing out. I don't ever see me wearing this stuff by itself, though, unless one day I decide to don a tophat and monocle. Oh, and while I can't speak to any JV juices, I do own Ombre Leather. Trust me, there are no similarities between ARB and OM whatsoever. UPDATE: After about 2-3 hours as it was becoming a skin scent, the florals faded a bit, and I could make out the light, suede-ish accord. Still soft and not really leathery, tho.

A very brief, fizzy citrus start that quickly fades into a woodsy, spice with an extremely subtle new car type scent. Not game changing or even super memorable but it is something different from other scents in my collection. You can find this at your local rack store for like $10 to $12 USD. Is it something I reach for in my collection? Very rarely, and if I do its just cause I remembered I have this and wanted to remind myself what this smelled like.

This scent is beautiful to me. Uplifting leather vibe with a smooth sweetness that loosley reminds me of C. O. Bigelow Black Elixir. I find it to be well blended and quite pleasing overall, but it doesn't perform for me on skin or clothing. A pleasent scent at a great price that can be worn at the office, out on the town, or on a date but likely won't be noticed by anyone as it fades quickly.

It doesn't have much lasting power, but it's a nice vanilla and aromatic flavor; I think it's ideal for those who like those things.

The opening really smells like root beer candy to me, it is a very peculiar scent. I am on the fence about returning it.

This smells like the air freshener in the bathroom at my dentist's office. It actually self-projected into my nose for over an hour, becoming a skin scent somewhere during hour two, so if you do like it, then at least you can smell it on yourself for awhile as you move about. I, however, do not like it, at all. As the guy below me said, it is quite nauseating and not even remotely masculine. It was a $12.99 Ross blind buy and that is exactly where it is going back to. So if you're at a Ross right now reading this review, take notice. Fragrantica users are always quick to downvote negative reviews, so keep that in mind and buy this junk juice at your own risk. I try to have something positive to say about every fragrance I try. I haven't figured out what that might be with this one yet. It's inexpensive. To me it smells like they didn't try. This is going in a drawer until I'm outside changing the oil in my car or something. Update: It's not for me to wear, but it darn sure is for me to use in my essential oil diffuser. The top notes really pop, and it makes a room smell fantastic.

Smells like you left a bad rose perfume in a hot car's glovebox for a few weeks. Not good, I find this gross.

This is nauseating; luckily, it does not last long. I bought this for the bottle for around $6.50 AUD, not the end of the world. The rest of this line is far better than this (green especially).

Un spray y gas a tope con avainillados cumarínicos al puro estilo ochentero. Intensa, con estela y de las que se sienten en exteriores. Desde sus primeros minutos es una explosión intensa de aroma que no cambia ni evoluciona sino que ofrece multitud de matices desde su inicio.Siento que le falta una salida citrica que te atrape y quizá sea el motivo de su bajo precio, ya que percibes calidad pero no te enamora a primeras. Muy masculina "alfa" casi barber y ligeramente dulce gourmand , esta fragancia tiene nocturnidad y alevosía. Su performance es decente para el precio que tiene, y si piensas usarla a diario por lo atractivo de su precio, puede acabar cansando y además... mejor usarla limpio porque si la transpiras, vas a quedarte sólo 🤮🥵 Si te gustan los aromas retro (aunque sea del 2021) masculinos aromáticos, especiados dulces y sin flores, tendrás razones para comprarla, por su buen precio. This is a sweet leather fragrance - even though leather is not listed in the notes, it is definitely in the mix - I guess that is what the 'Alcantara' accord is, (Alcantara is an Italian brand of synthetic leather upolstery fabric used in automobiles..). It has a slight woody almost licorice undertone, initially with the strong leather note in the opening. The leather note remains into the drydown, where it becomes more sweet, balsamic and a little fruity and floral. Performance is pretty good, I get at least 6 hours and the scent is very masculine and quite pleasant. This is mainly for the fall-winter and evenings. This would go great with a leather jacket and jeans, drinking in a dive bar with a trashy, but good looking companion. Similar scents are Dark Rebel, and Dark Rebel Rider by John Varvatos. The price is good, and this is worth having if you want an inexpensive leather scent that actually performs rather well..

This is basically Tom Ford's Ombre Leather 2018 (black label) with the chypre elements sanded out of it, and upping the aromatics instead. It has a fruity-fresh opening of pink pepper, red apple, warm citrus (a type of "fantasy" citrus accord that somewhat resembles a red grapefruit-lemony note). Very fresh, very clean, but has a bit of texture and tingle thanks to the peppery elements. This rapidly darkens into a sort of leathery-textile element that I guess is supposed to be Alcantara, but is smokier than any material I've smelled, and sort of reminds me of the tar in A*Men's heart, only not as strong. I think note separation is great, there's obvious nutmeg, patchouli, cardamom, vanilla, rose, apple, and a hint of raspberry. Drydown is where all these notes clarify and unite. Very good stuff, and an alternative to Ombre Leather.

I bought a bottle of this at a Mueller store in Breisach, Germany after a quick, surprised sniff. Great stuff at a low price! I'm pleased with what people now call the "value proposition" of this juice. It's leathery and exotic, and there is a note in this that I can't quite figure out, but I know I never had it in any of my other frags. It couldn't be the rose, could it? At any rate this is leathery and then has this kicker note as a drydown. Could it be "alcantara accord," whatever THAT is? or the rather generically described "dark woodsy notes?" Whatever goes into this, it is very good.

Not especially similar to Dark Rebel or DR Rider, IMO, but the same constructional idea as Nuit d'Issey Homme, though with a couple different notes. Sour/sharp citrus with that chemical woodiness/elemi, and the leather is obvious (unlike in Nuit), with some floral softening. No ambery/vanillic/sweet qualities, except perhaps in a micro dose. Very nice smell, going in a niche direction, but also possessing a slight "fresh" quality. The only issues might be sensitivity to the aroma chemicals used or already owning a similar scent and not wanting another of that type.

Somehow, this is a unique mix of rose and nutmeg and some others. I can't get any leather and smoke. Elegant, dark. dry and slightlly mystic, with just a moderate amount of sweetness. Pleasant and manly. Good stuff. UPDATE: Now I see, why I found it familiar, at first sniff..! It has the very same dense, woody-musky-spicey basic structure, just like Bogart One Man Show Gold, but the difference is in the floralic upnote! What is the green, subtle chamomille in Bogart OMS Gold, it is the fine rose in the Alfa Romeo Black! Both stuffs are very nice!

An earthy, confident take on leather. The opening elemi adds a bit of sour citrus air allowing the leather to gently come to the front. The leather isn’t a rough tanned leather, more of a strong, luxury leather. The dark florals enhance the woody notes.
