Century Blue

This is a very versatile, blue fragrance, I highly recommend it if you want to have the performance of the more expensive blues, but are on a budget. This is a quality EDP, it has great longevity up to eight hours, and projection is good about an arms length, and you’ll find this kind of typical for an EDP, especially a blue one. For me, this is better than the original century by Dunhill, it’s not bad, but I prefer century blue. I’m sure the amboxin contributes to the longevity, and of course the concentration. This is a hidden gem, and in my opinion, if you’re looking for a blue that you can wear all year and save a little money this one’s for you. I do have one rant, those of you reviewing a cologne with one spray on the back of your hand save your time because I don’t think you can do a justifiable review with one squirt on the back of your hand. OK I’m done.

Some hate for this one. Trying to understand why, but hey......to each it’s own. This reminds me of Jaguar Pace in the opening. Kind of shampoo smell but more pleasant. I guess is the Iris doing that, not sure. It doesn’t matter really. Then, it becomes sweet, in a clean fashion way. And finally, around 2-3 hours later, it becomes more serious. More mature than the first 2 stages. This is a lot better than what most people are saying. Projects nicely and lasts about 6 hours on my skin. Office friendly for sure. Casual wear too. So please try this one on your skin, and if you enjoy the modern clean, salty, sweet type of scents, I can guarantee you, this is going to be a winner in your collection. Consider the actual price on discounters and I don’t see why this can be hated, at all!.

Love the Dunhill line one of my favorites is 51.3n, now century blue. The bottle is awesome and it has a magnetic cap. Some complained about the cap, just lightly palm it and twist when the like poles of the magnets line up it ejects it’s self. The juice, it’s an EDP freshie. Starts off with a citrusy peppery opening and drys down to an iris and ambroxen shower gel scent. For me this follows the freshly blue protocol. So it opens similar to a Dylan Blue but kind of finished more like a Prada DNA. it’s not a clone of either but I think you get the best of both. Longevity is above average for a Blue style and projection is a few hours at arms length and then is more intimate....but it’s there. Good date fragrance but will work dressed up or down, pretty good all year too!

Cheap blind buy for me that I wound up loving. When I need a grab and go warm weather fragrance that is purposely not sexy and will let me smell great and just so slightly different, this is my blue of choice. The citrus and ginger pop together in the opening and then the citrus tones down as the amber-patchouli saltiness take over. That ginger hangs around, and the slight sweetness and aquatic notes with other aromatic notes that I can't individually discern make this a unique take on blue. I'll take this $35 interesting cheapie any summer day over the extremely boring BDC EDT. But, hey, you do you. Performance is decent for a warm weather scent. I get about 6 hours with pretty decent projection -- without choking anyone out when it's hot.

Color me impressed! I went into buying this fragrance with low expectations; I mainly got it for the size and price tag. 4.5oz for $35? A pretty sweet deal. I wanted something that I could use as a cheap, yet pleasant office fragrance that I could fall back on if I didn't want to use my more expensive bottles. What I got was a pleasantly salty, summer oriented barbershop blue scent that I think is undoubtedly one of the most slept on, bang-for-your-buck cheapies out there. IMO, it stands shoulder to shoulder with the better known Salvatore Ferragamo Acqua Essenziale line in terms of quality and value. Definitely check this out the next time you're browsing your local rack store for good deals.

If you like Blue fragrances with a little bit more depth, if you like fresh iris combos, if you want signature scent worthy with great value/good quality/pleasant easy smell look no further(suits minimum 3 seasons). I use Coach Platinum, Azzaro Wanted and this as my main fragrances. This is the one by far I find myself reaching for more whenever it's 80 degrees + weather. Love the opening and mid very much. The dry down for me turns into mainly Iris with clean mix of Amber and Musk following. Longevity is great at least 7 hours on my skin, projects great for first 2 hours and stays within arms length in the 3rd hour. Can get a 4.5 oz bottle with magnetic cap for under $35 easily

This is soooooo nice. Dior and Chanel should take an example of this one, how you can use ambroxan in a classy way. Soft, mellow, uplifting and very sophisticated. Very high recommendable. And the designer of the bottle and packaging should be nominated for an Oscar.

This is what i would imagine a dressed up man in a suit would wear if he only could choose between blue fragrances. So elegant It really feels like a high Value perfume. And for my nose the Iris is the big player in this combination.

I love the quality of the bottle. Fragrance is fresh and much spicy, its spiciness makes it unique. projection is ok but longevity is good about 7 hours.

Smells so much like dylan blue and essenziale blue that it wouldn't be necessary to have both. Solid blue fragrance, very amber forward!

Opening is Ambroxan with light citrus Mid is Ambroxan with slight iris and light citrus Drydown is mostly Ambroxan I made a mistake by trying this on paper and not on my skin, because on paper it smells fresh. Maybe my skin chemistry is the problem, I envy you if this smells great on your skin, because it really smells awesome on paper. I’ll give it a few more wearing, maybe I smell Ambroxan all the time, but other people smell something different when they are the one smelling. BTW the original Century smells close to my Dunhill Icon, which 25 and younger might not appreciate. Icon and Century smells fresh, but in my opinion for 25 years old and older might appreciate it more than you young bucks. Have a great day and always smell great!!!

Dunhill Century Blue is basically Dylan Blue with Iris, a more powdery/slightly floral & mature Dylan Blue... another blue shower gel/soapy fresh clean scent but w/ some class to it. opens similar to hugo boss bottled night, soapy clean a little sweet (but boss night has a grape like sweetness while century blue is citrusy) w/ hint of floralness (which isn't very prominent) after about 15-20mins smells almost exactly like dylan blue just a lil more powdery full dry is just powdery w/ faint dylan blue left; not as deep or dense as dylan blue, just as versatile can be worn casually or formally by any age. Projection/Sillage': DECENT, arms length scent bubble for the 1st 1-2 hours. Performance/Longevity: GOOD, about 8-9 hours (on fabric).

This is not an ambroxan bomb. I do get the Iris and the citrus notes which makes this a fresh smelling fragrance. I notice a little bit of the pepper which gives this some spice and also the ginger and sea salt are noticeable as well. It smells fresh and blue so keep in mind that it is a "Blue" fragrance but it has some bite to it, It's not just watery. It smells pleasant and I think you can use this anywhere at anytime and smell good but it might not be the greatest for colder weather. Dunhill Century Blue is a good fragrance and I would say if you like Century this one would be worth trying. The box and presentation are superb. I give this a 8.6/10

Just grabbed this for ~$35 and it may be $10 more than what I should have payed based on what i'm getting. I've tried it for 3 days, and to me it smells like you removed patchouli and heavy notes out from Versace Dylan Blue, and added some Azzaro Wanted. I don't feel the note breakdown is exactly what the fragrance smells like, as many invictus/showergel/bubblegum frangrances do, but this certain isn't bad. It's just run of the mill. I think it's an easier to wear dylan blue that doesn't beat you over the head with ambroxan.

its good, not great. original century is far better. this has that ambroaxan which is familiar, opening is nice drydown is kinda meh.but the price is so cheap on this 135 ml, which makes it a great buy for people on a budget. smells crisp clean fresh and spicy a bit 7/10 for the value

Really nice high quality spicy blue. Soapy iris is nice, as is the tame ambrox and sharpness in the base. At least as good as Dylan blue, YSL Y etc. I prefer this to those, and I'm not a big blue guy. But this has grown on me. Also, the original century is vastly superior, yes.

Initially thought it was a throwaway cheapie blue. But, it has grown on me. I now prefer the sharp salty base and spicy iris to dylan blue, Y, and some other big hitter blue frags. It's an edp and performs like one. I enjoy this underrated gem.

I don’t know why this is getting hate nice high quality presentation with the magnetic cap and a blue fragrance that rivals Sauvage and YSL Y quality and it’s cheap for a 4.2oz and lasts 7 hours.

Generic blue scent- mass appealing, with little depth. Not bad by any means, but not good, nor unique. Lovely packaging- the magnetic cap and concaved bottle are very nice.

The smell's very close “Classic Blue David Beckham”. 10/7

This fragrance is rather interesting because it mixes ambroxan with iris and aromatic notes that are not usually used together. The fragrance opens with cool, clean and cozy ambroxan note that mixes with iris note, salt and something bitter (perhaps oakmoss) to create a cool, fresh, powdery, amber fragrance with a salty, spicy and slightly bitter finish. The fragrance stays fairly linear in its development and doesn’t change all that much with the ambroxan, iris and salty notes lingering the longest. Longevity on this one is quite impressive with about 8 to 9 hours and a moderete silage and projection for the first one to two hours after which it comes closer to the chest. Suitable for warm weather in casual and office settings. I don’t really think it would fit an upscale event or a formal meeting, but that’s also dependant on the person wearing it and the event. It is a fresh, clean, soapy iris and ambroxan fragrance with a touch of aromatics and salt. It is also very affordable wich is always good (27€ for 135ml). In the final analysis it is a solid fragrance that some people might like, but I must say that I’m not in love with it and find it to be simply ok. It might be a good idea to sample first if given the chance.

A solid edition to my office fragrance collection. Decent projection and performance. It stands apart from my other blue fragrances with more citrus and spice notes. The ginger also helps it be different. I do love the bottle design - very classy with a magnetic cap.

It's a blue fragrance but it doesn't smell like anything else. The opening is fizzy then it becomes more powdery and smooth floral while still smelling blue and clean. It's a nice fragrance not an amazing one. Lasts 4-5 hours. 6/10

I recently tried the original Dunhill Century, and, whilst not really my thing, it is good perfumery. Unique at least, just one of those scents that is hard to ‘mood’. But yeah, it is definitely perfume artistry and good quality. This, however, is the biggest pile of Shyte I’ve ever purchased. It has zero redeeming qualities. A fussy opening that, whilst inoffensive, is absolutely nothing to WOW about. It’s boring, generic, smells cheap (and is), has zero longevity, zero projection after 5 minutes and if I purchased every Lynx product on Earth and sprayed them onto the same piece of paper I’d not be able to tell this apart from it. I literally tested it for a day and was disappointed to the point I simply binned it because I wouldn’t even wish it on anyone as a gift! Oh, and that silly magnetic cap....seriously.....no one wants to waste half an hour drinking time trying to extract that from the gorgeous bottle! It’s akin to chasing that final petit pois around the plate with a spoon! Now I’m thinking what a D1ck I am, I should have kept it just for the blue juice in the bottle!) Oh well, frustration got the better of me! 10/10 simply for the bottle...nah, 6/10 because of the lid and...1/10 for the car crash fluid!

Sprayed couple spritz on my hand today. Initial thoughts - good quality for the price but very soapy. So neroli is a big player here, slightly spicy and salty. Then dries down to more ambery slightly less soapy but still floral and very salty. At the end I felt it woodier. No iris just floral touch, at least not the buttery, lipsticky iris that I love. Good 6-7 hours longevity just on my hand and I was able to feel it so should projects. Bright, happy, elegant scent. For £23 for 135ml you can't complain at all. If you're looking for everyday, good smelling good quality cheapie, go grab this one, don't bother with Nautica Voyage for example. Dunhill Century Blue is much better and unique, and yet no one is talking about it.

The Original was Original, giving weirdness of nagamotha or papyrus or something against the waxy uplifting orange and orange blossom, it was a real grower on me. This however, is rubbish. Soooooooooooooooooooo boring. Acquatic piddle. Not a fan. Shame.

Nice, inoffensive & all too familiar aromatic masculine freshie that i've smelled many times before. Unfortunately i don't smell any iris note as indicated on the Fragrantica fragrance pyramid, maybe because it actually says orris butter on the cover card of the sample vial giveaway i got given. Whatever the difference or similarity between these two accords are, it wasn't pronounced or obvious enough for me to recognise it. Moderate performance & longevity, safe for office wear or a blind buy or even a great gift choice. You can't go wrong with this flanker which has no direct resemblance whatsover with the original Century frag...it shud've been on it's own separate name. Quite a pleasant & clean scent but forgettable & common.

This is a modern version of drakkar noir. Slight barbershop with ambroxan. As of now, I only think of wearing it after I shave. DUNHILL is an interesting company, that throws darts with their fragrances, but quality is always there, if they miss. Depending on trends, this could be something people start talking about. Worth a shot for around 20 bucks. This and the original century really make you ponder when to wear them, especially when you are used to modern scents.

I really dig this style of blue. Citrusy, powdery iris, effervescent ginger, and fuzzy ambroxan. It’s in the same vein as acqua essenziale blu by Salvatore Ferragamo. It’s a little redundant to own both. This is an EDP concentration and performance is a little better than average though projection is not as good as I had hoped for. This fragrance is non offensive, compliment pulling, and highly versatile. For the price it’s a no brainer. Cheap, quality gem.

This was an unexpected very nice blue fragrance. I picked this up for $19.99 and I love the scent profile. It’s really similar to Acqua Essenziale Blu by Salvatore Ferragamo although I think it’s smoother and not as powdery. For $20 you’re not gonna find a much better blue style fragrance out there. Bottle is unique with a magnetic cap as well.

Very very nice fragrance. Office safe, definitely won’t offend anyone but still compliment getting for sure! It has the mass appealing blue DNA but with a bit of a twist that is still extremely wearable and versatile. It’s an EDP and I get around 6-7 hours out of it. I’m really happy with this. 100% blind buy worthy

Couldn’t agree more with the review below. If you’re in the market for a long lasting ‘sea breeze’ fragrance, look no further. If you’re standing in a store looking at this and the £ is right, grab it. Long lasting, casual and amboxan done right (I can’t stand Dylan Blue) This is signature worthy Excellent 10/10

Dunhill Century Blue... ...have I smelled this before? No....I have smelled this endless times before. Another Bluey....uninspired, confusable and a bit generic. It is per se not a bad fragrance but just a bit too common. The original Century is a lot better....it's got character.

The ugly duckling. This is a disaster when you compare it to Icon and Century. So much of that unbearable designer vibe / accord. good-grief. Stick to Icon and Century if you're after Dunhill's good recent-releases.

D&G Light Blue Swimming in Lipari (and to a lesser extent Ferragamo Acqua Essenziale) is somewhat similarly themed with Century Blue. It barely has anything to do with Dior Sauvage.

Reminds me a lot of prada amber pour homme EDT. Soapy clean with a powdery finish. No where near the beast mode performance of prada though

Superclean out of the shower soapy stuff. With several blues in my collection, it has own character and gives a clean vibe.

I really hope this isn’t a combo of Sauvage and Prada L’Homme with a touch of sea salt.
