Desire Platinum

I have this fragrance and I love it so much. I do think that this fragrance has more notes than the listed ones. This fragrance opens with a fresh spicy, smoky/leathery scent, then the spices calm down over time and a soft sweetness appears. I see this scent as a dark innovative niche like scent, with no citrusy notes, so unique, doesn't smell anything like this before. I do get a kind of spicy coffee and almond/hazelnut which reminds me a little of A men by Theiry mugler. I don't know what is the note responsible for the smoky/Leathery opening (could it be the sandalwood?), I do think it is coming from an ambery woody dry accord not from sandalwood, or may be the musk gives this leathery scent. I could describe the scent profile as a fresh spicy, smoky/leathery, soft floral, little fruity, little green, soft gourmand . This fragrance becomes one of my favorite scents of all times, it is not a loud sweet scent like most of late offerings, but an elegant scent as I do love my fragrances to be. This fragrances reminds me of silver shadow private by Davidoff, police dark men, alien man and A men by Theiry mugler. Projection and longevity is medium. Wow, not sure what to make of this one yet. Keep in mind I am approaching this as a cheapy, if you paid full MSRP your opinion on value may be different. You can find these bottles well below $40 now, I paid $24. This is REALLY interesting to me. Not what I expected having tried Hermes Eau De Rhubarbe Ecarlate. Not like the original Dunhill Desire either. Sort of a spicy Dr. Pepper, almost boozy, maybe licorice notes even. There is some rhubarb freshness in the open and yes musk and sandalwood help round out the base. But one of the listed notes are what I would find memorable about this scent. 100% recommend this, not redundant with anything else by Dunhill that I have smelled.

***Update first full wear*** So after letting my bottle Maturate for atleast a couple weeks after spraying some out, the performance and scent profile have certainly improved. As for the scent, its a Like but NOT a "Love" for me. What Im SUUUPER.shocked about is CRAZY the amount of compliments its gotten at work, AND MOSTLY FROM OTHER MEN! I rarely get compliments for my fragrances from other men! So I wore Platinum yesterday for the first time as a "Full wear" and got THREE compliments throughout the day from somej of my male coworkers. Again, its a like and not a love from me, but EVERYONE ELSE seems to think is smells quote: "Amazing". Lasts a good 6 to 7 hours on skin now and DAYS on clothes... Not bad at all Id say! ***Initial Thoughts*** Well first off, the "Notes List" shown here on Fragrantica seems WAAAAY OFF atleast to my nose! Anyone else?? Anyhow this scent is Soft Spicey, Slightly vanillic/ambery/maybe Tonka Bean and even an synthetic "Oud Note" vs a "Sandlenwoo note"? And is sweet but not Cloyingly sweet. Also, someone had mentioned a "Coffee nuance" and YES! I NO DOUBT get an obvious Gourmand/Coffee touch here along with the woods. As of right now Im getting ZERO "Rhubard", also the sillage is quite minimal unfortunately, but like any fragrhead worth their salt, knows a bit of "Maturation" can hel in that dept. Also longevity is quite moderate at 4 to 5 hours on skin, again from my bra d-new bottle. I want to grab a few more from the Desire line, but if Desire Platinum doesn't improve much as far as performance goes, then Ill probably just skip the Desire line all together.ñ, so we shall see!...

Hands down the best flanker of Desire from Dunhill! Smells niche! Surprised at the simple notes. Must be more complex than this. At least it smells like it. I never liked the other desires it’s too sweet and smells juvenile. I also liked the black Desire but that one def is not for everyone and not a good blind buy. It smells like the classic fragrances real men wore during the 80’s

I do not own the perfume but I try at one shop, but I can say it is a Niche scent in Designer bottle.
