Crown of Marmara

I frickin’ love this and finally got my full bottle today. It’s got some darkness and depth with subtle sweetness which makes it pretty versatile. It’s nice to finally have an adult leather without some juvenile fruity accord. My skin sweetens everything up so any heavy resins, ouds, or animalics end up being a gorgeous wearing experience and this is no different. The caramel, even though it still feels dark, takes any edge off and makes it an extremely wearable and high class leather. I can see why some may shy away from it, but that just means more for me. Update 2026: I still love this. Wears beautifully. Opened a little while ago, the styrax now reigns supreme. It also has more subtle similarities to Ancient Fortress. Different scents, but similar notes for sure.

This is not a fragrance for everyone. I could understand why some people are distant. In all fairness I also personally thought it will be a bad combination when I’ve seen the notes. Leather and citrus creates a weird accord. But if you’re adventurous enough and looking to discover new smells then you’ll buy it anyway and hopefully also like myself you will start to appreciate it. Because besides its acquired smell it is a master piece. Fresh, leathery, powdery a bit floral and a bit ambery. Give it time, it will grow on you. Great performance and projection also (8+ hours). A solid 8.7 out of 10 for me. I have others from Alghabra that i prefer over this, but i don’t regret buying it.

This falls in the group of fragrances I wear just for myself. It is interesting, and long lasting, I don't go nose blind to to it. In the air it is unpleasant but on skin it does it's thing. It is not pretty but beautiful.

A scent with a puzzle-like opening that I couldn't figure out at first. I was thinking very floral-fresh (neroli probably) but a vaseline-like hit, a salty feel, leather, sticky extracted greens, loads of resin and loads of spice. I focused on trying to pinpoint the details... Dark-colored pine trees and a spice market duo... But the scent slowly starts to descend and get heavier, darkness is coming... This scent is very intense and very warm. It falls into what I'd call the baroque type, layered and magnificent. When I looked at the notes and saw leather, styrax and peru balsam, everything clicked into place. I always say styrax takes every scent a few steps further. The balsamic and resinous elements are also incredible... I don't think I've smelled a composition like this before. The slight salty feel also drew me in. Dark, mysterious, a total dark cultist vibe! Patchouli is noticeable, but here it's in its best form, accompanied by smoky leather... Towards the end the aromatic quality becomes more pronounced, and for some reason I even started sensing mastic gum, which I also enjoyed. Nothing to do with the Marmara, nothing to do with the cover image. This is practically the scent of the Yedikule Dungeons! This literally smells like Roja Amber Aoud but with a strong leather note (think Boadicea Complex). Very, very nice. Unisex too. Better for evening wear. Still testing so can't comment on longevity yet. Sillage seems to be intimate. Will update as I continue wearing it.

Crown of Marmara is a bold and weighty amber-benzoin fragrance that makes a strong statement. It is straightforward in its composition, delivering a dense and resinous scent profile from start to finish. The opening offers a more nuanced experience with hints of balsam, leather, and neroli, adding some brightness and texture. However, as it dries down, the benzoin-ambergris combination becomes overwhelmingly heavy, sitting densely on the skin and chest. While its longevity and projection are undeniably impressive, its intensity might be challenging for some to wear comfortably. Rating: 2.5/5

Right off the bat, I’m getting ArmorAll or similar car care product. It’s a sharp leather that is making my eyes water. The neroli is trying to come through, but it’s overpowered by bergamot (this is also what makes it smell like a car care product to me). I haven’t even gotten to the patchouli yet, and I don’t think I can hang.

Crown of Marmara—leathery, tangy, not great. About an hour in it got funky and gross so I layered Oddity over it to try to salvage. Didn't work. Gave it another try on its own. It is not for me.Probably the styrax is the culprit. Better options from this house: King of Flowers and Istanbul's Soul

I had high hopes for this one, but unfortunately, it was a complete miss for me. I sprayed it on my hand, and the scent was immediately unpleasant harsh, unbalanced, and something about it just didn’t sit right on my skin. Not my style at all, and definitely not something I’d wear.

This is a dry, woody, resinous leather scent. Grés Cabochard smells very similar to this (on my skin).

Sharp leather with a fresh twist. Classic leather, similar to BdV Complex & OP Cuoium: dense, sharp, lightly woody, somewhat incensy. Softened with mellow but slightly bitter resins. Freshened with neroli and bergamot, that give it a green fresh vibe without being overt. A dash of caramel to bridges the fresh notes with the leather. Leathery, slightly sharp, lightly fresh, lightly woody, incensy, medicinal. Honestly, I prefer this over Complex & Cuoium, which are moderately heavier. This is a more wearble leather scent. It still has some leathery bitter heaviness that some might find too medicinal to wear. Also, has an oily texture scent-wise. Something I've noticed with some other Alghabra releases. One of my main issue with such scents is that they smell depressing and devoid of intimacy. Like an engine oil, which at least has some nostalgia to it. Cool weather, masculine wear. "Like"

The Sea of Marmara is a magical place, surrounded by high mountains, and inspired this fragrance. Balsamic and green scents dominate it, it's like being in a very green meadow at high altitude and breathing deeply the fresh, clean, pungent air. Unfortunately it's not my thing, I find it too edgy for me.
