Poem of Damas

If gothic and romantic can be put together in one olfactory ride, that is POEM OF DAMAS. The concoction opens up featuring a pitch black rose, bleeding sweet fruity aromas, Into the heart POEM OF DAMAS unfolds an amalgamation of berries dressed in sweet amber and earthy shadows of patchouli. Oud frames the composition in the base, for a very long lasting ride. Poem of Damas reveals one of the most romantic and intriguing perfumes to come out in recent times, highly recommended.

Ah, your standard, ol' reliable rose and oud. My first impression was that it reminded me of Rose d'Arabie so I sprayed one on each hand to test. Rose d'Arabie is drier, spicier, and slightly soapier but they are about 90% similar. More Than Words is one of my favorite fragrances and comparing it to Poem of Damas, I have to say that while they are extremely close, MTW is fruitier and projects more. Poem of Damas is redundant if you have More Than Words in your collection.

And, one year after Red Tobacco by Mancera was created, Poem of Damas is born. Initial spray . . . dead ringer for Red Tobacco by Mancera. I agree with @twoski. I also smell Cambodian oud.

Literally a clone of Armani Rose d'Arabie. That same syrupy rose with warm spices (saffron), that is orientalized with a touch of oudy woodiness. Relatively sweeter. Rosy, warm spicy, syrupy, Arabic, woody. The creative director of this house is obsessed with rose syrup and Rose d'Arabie: the syrup you find in many of the house's fragrances, Rose d'Arabie's influence is also found in Eye of Seven Hills. Now I love Rose d'Arabie, so of course I like this scent. But do I support this blatant clone? Well, yes, even though it upsets me because the original perfumer got ripped. I support it because it makes the scent more affordable and more accessible to the public in decent quality and packaging at this price point. I do hate how the brand act like they came up with the scent on their own. Unisex, cool weather that leans feminine with its sweet syrupy rose. "Like".

Hate the opening but the drydown is absolutely amazing with a very beautiful sillage. Definitely smells better in the air than on the spot it was applied. Good projection and longevity. Doesn't smell like your standard rose-oud combo. Has some sweetness to it. The oud isn't very medicinal. I started appreciating its beauty (the drydown and sillage) on the 3rd/4th wear. Don't blind buy.

This is a lovely, fruity rose. Along with the white flowers, I get an enjoyable raspberry/rose bubblegum scent. It is turned up to around 7/10 on the volume. Like a gateway frag, it hangs around outside the fence of the MFK Oud Satin Mood playground. Completely non-offensive. So if you are offended by this go change your diaper ‘cuz that’s probably what you smell.

I received a free sample and I must say this is exotic. It’s unisex but leans somewhat feminine in my eyes. The scent is sweet and spicy and fits the cooler weather with its strong projection and longevity. Thumbs up for being an attractive fragrance but for the price it goes for there’s no way I will ever purchase a bottle.

I detest generic note descriptions (fruity notes? floral notes? oriental notes? WTF?) and i think it does a disservice to the fragrance so i'll try and figure out what specific fruits and florals are in this one for everyone's benefit. I get a sweet pear or honeydew melon note off the bat. Maybe a smidge of peach flesh. Also maybe some kind of sweet (but not tart) apple flesh. The florals smell to me kind of like a less-sweet jasmine and maybe some kind of creamy white tuberose mixed with rose. Hard to say since it's mingling with the fruit. The oud here isn't skanky or funky, it's just deep and dark and broody and pulls the entire composition in that direction. I don't really get spices yet, i'll let it dry down on the strip and see if that changes a bit. The fruit and florals dominate this one with the clean oud playing a supporting role. There is also a noticeable kind of musk-y note in this that reminds me of some of the Narciso Rodriguez oud + musk fragrances. I would classify this fragrance as primarily florals, musk and oud if i had to pick the 3 standout notes. This is a very mature fragrance and i think only certain people will find they can comfortably wear it. For me, it feels too elegant and mature. This fragrance leans a bit femme but it's worth sampling if you're a guy, i think some men could enjoy this. This is honestly one of the less satisfying fragrances from this house I've smelled. Their spice-heavy fragrances are a lot more interesting.

I admire this scent greatly, and I do understand why some people are raving over it. And I will say that I RARELY complain that a scent is too much for me in terms of projection or richness or fullness. I have trouble finding scents that are "big" enough to be worthy. Well, I think I met my match. I think Poem of Damas is too BIG for me. Too heavy, too present, just when I'm breathing and wandering around the house. I still say, if you crave an oud scent that is rich, fruity and dense then this is it. BEAST mode from a user who almost never describes a scent as beast mode. If I've scared you off sufficiently but you want to try Alghabra, then go for King of Flowers, Istanbul's Soul or Eye of Seven Hills. All gorgeous fragrances.

I am really surprised no one mentioned similarities with Mancera Rose Vanille. It is very very similar on my skin, this one is more airy, more floral and the mancera is darker and sweeter. But still they are very similar on my skin.

This smells nice initially, similarities with Rose D'Arabie by Armani Prive. However, this is so jam packed with aroma chemicals it started to make me nauseous - and this rarely happens. It wouldn't come off after many hand washes over a few hours and I only smeared a tiny bit on from a sample vial. For this price, get yourself something more natural.

If you like oud rose combos this is one of the best. For me I like torc from boadicea a lot, this is very similar. However, this is more complex, with more spices on the back end. I have this and labyrinth of Spices by this house as well. This also has great longevity and protection as it is an extrait. Not cheap but also not made cheaply Update: in surprised this house doesn't get more love. Everything I try from them smells great and lasts forever. Guys review two or so under me has zero clue. I don't get chemical notes at all. I know for a fact there is, but they have no noticeable scent profile. They just help with projection and longevity. Like an iso super. Maybe it was something with his skin chemistry. Try it, if you don't like it, @me

Someone below actually said this was too expensive. Alghabra have maybe the most fairly priced fragrances for what you get on the market. If this is too expensive for you, stick to designer scents I think. This is a very nice rose oud, to me smells like emir but lasts and projects better, though I prefer the smell of emir. If performance is your thing for poem if scent is your thing get emir.

The opening has the sweet red fruity scent and oud. It’s combined with warm amber, rose and oriental-woody notes. Performance is great. Tatli kirmizi meyveli bir oud ile acilis yapip gul ve amber sicakligi eklenerek oryantal odunsu koku yogunluguna devam eden bir parfum. Performansi basarili.

Rose oud but with animalics.... Very annoying to wear.. It has been done 100 times.. Smells like $25 lattafa perfume... Save your $$$

Love it. A beautiful oud fragrance. Lasts quite long as well.
